Paranormal Academy Book 3: Elemental Blood Page 17

His eyes held mine for a few long moments before he finally nodded. “Okay. I’ll marry you. What’s your name again?”

It felt like I had taken a punch to the gut.

“Juliana,” I whispered, “but you call me Juli.”

“Juli,” he murmured, staring into my eyes for a long moment.

I might have only been imagining it, but I could have sworn that there was the faintest hint of recognition. It was almost as if he remembered… but only briefly.

“I have some things to do, but let’s discuss this more later, okay?” Avery asked.

I nodded and then watched as he walked away from me.

The reality of what I had just done began to set in.

I was about to become Queen of the Air Kingdom to dethrone my father and save both the paranormal and human worlds.

But first would come the wedding. We had learned about royal weddings in Paranormal Societies class, and I knew that they were huge. This wedding was going to be epic—the wedding that would make me a Queen.

I was about to become Queen to a King who I loved. I would be Queen to a King, who, as of right now, didn’t even remember me.

I just hoped that in time he would remember everything. But even if he didn’t, I knew I was doing the right thing. I was saving the world.

So, why, then, was Kaden’s face burning brightly inside my mind?

Kaden. I still needed to find him and make sure that he was okay. And once I did, I would have to tell him what I had just done.

I hoped that he would forgive me.
