Read A Most Refined Dragon Storyline:
If Beauty and the Beast collided with Dragonriders of Pern and crash-landed in Jurassic Park, they'd have it easier...Every seven years, death stalks Kibota. The Census Stone awakens and its beguiling call summons the great dinosaur migration. White Talon, the dragon queen, should be fortifying their defenses while searching for the Rainbow Bride. Instead, cloistered in her cave, she stares into an orb, pining for her lost mate.
Her human apprentice, Shorassa, is searching, pestering crickets, fireflies and unicorns for news of the bride. Between Rampart and Seakeep, none surpass Shorassa at loom, glass torch or pottery wheel. One medium resists her mastery, though: her brother. Shoroko is as stubborn as the quaggas he breaks in as draught animals. She's wasted all her telepathic utter-flies trying to bend his will (and find him a wife, ingrate), but the farm-boy refuses to become hero or groom. Without king, Rainbow Bride or brain-washed champion, who will stop the dinosaur onslaught?
The Hand-Claw alliance shatters when White Talon goes crazy and attacks Shorassa, fiancé to a nobleman. Confined to her bed, Shorassa sees her designs go awry, for Shoroko's idea of heroism is riding forth to exact revenge upon her friend, the queen.
Where is the Rainbow Bride? Flying a mission for the Red Cross. Dr. Melissa Long is over Sudan when her plane is shot down, ripping her soul from her body and exchanging it with someone on Kibota. The good physician awakes in a cave to see the man of her dreams, and he tries to kill her. Shoroko has become a dragon hunter, and Melissa - an unrefined dragon.
