Read Gone to Ground Storyline:

In a world torn apart by a deadly influenza epidemic the government issues an order concentrating all the remaining population into specified Authorized Population Zones (APZs) so that resources may be more fairly distributed, medical care provided, and people protected. Suspicious of the APZs, journalist Maggie Langton is determined to take her son, Mark, and make a run for the empty ranch land in north western Arizona. The two head for a remote ranch camp known as Hideaway Camp, intending to live off the land until things return closer to normal. When they meet up with O'Reilly, an loaner ex Enforcer, and fugitive from the law, it quickly becomes clear that things won't be returning to normal any time soon.
While O'Reilly possesses vital knowledge to Maggie and Mark's survival on a remote ranch camp, he also possesses darker, more dangerous knowledge. Knowledge that the government will pursue through any difficulty. Knowledge for which the government will kill in order to keep it from becoming widely known. Maggie and O'Reilly find themselves playing a high stakes game of cat and mouse with a relentless captain in the Enforcers, determined to remain alive and free.
