On August 2, 1990, Iraqi tanks rolled into Kuwait and put a quarter of the world's oil reserves at risk. This led to the spectacular Hundred Day War known as Operation Desert Storm. Involved in that war, but secretly, was the legendary Special Air Service – the SAS! As specialists in desert warfare, the SAS were plunged into a maelstrom of highly dangerous, covert operations – often deep inside enemy territory. Their activities included reconnaissance, espionage, sabotage, the capture of prisoners, the rescue of hostages, infiltration of Iraqi towns, and daring hit-and-run raids in their renowned 'Pink Panther' armed Land Rovers. Some were captured and tortured. Others were executed.
