  “Yeah, why ten?” Brianna asked. “What are we supposed to do with the extra four?”

  “Oh, that’s just how many I saw,” Neko replied, “so I didn’t really stop to count them out. I don’t care what we do with the last four. We can always throw them out.”

  “Or save them,” I said with a shrug. “You never know.”

  “I like that you held onto them the whole time we talked about this,” Lily laughed, “when you could have just fuckin’ told us that you had vaccines right from the beginning.”

  “Where would the fun in that be?” the pink-haired Japanese girl snickered. “Besides, I didn’t want to sway anybody’s opinion one way or the other. I wanted to see what everyone thought before you knew that we definitely had the option.”

  “Sneaky,” I said with a grin. “I like it.”

  “So are we really gonna do this?” Brianna asked.

  “I think we are,” Catherine said, and then she licked her lips like she could already taste human blood.

  “We are,” Natalie said as she reached over to squeeze my hand. “We’re ready, Sam.”

  “To become vamps?” I asked.

  “You mean to become the badass vampire women of your own kingdom?” Natalie smiled. “Yeah. We’re ready.”

  And as I looked around the table at my six beautiful women, I knew that they all meant it. Natalie and Neko both looked back at me with smiles, and I immediately thought about how they were both already such good fighters that I knew they would be unstoppable as vampires.

  Catherine drummed her fingers on the table as if she was already thinking about what it would be like to have the strength of a vamp, and when I saw Erika press her lips together, I figured that she was trying to figure out the logistics of when and how fast they could all turn. Even Brianna and Lily looked excited, if a little more nervous than the other girls, but I knew that they wouldn’t have said they were ready unless they really meant it.

  I had never imagined that Natalie alone would want to become a vampire with me, and the fact that all five of the other girls wanted to do the same thing was almost like a dream.

  After all, they were exactly right. If they became my own personal army of beautiful, badass vampire women, then I didn’t think there was a single bloodsucker in the country who could stop us. We would be able to take what we wanted, help anyone who needed it, and kill anyone who stood in our way.

  So, yeah.

  It was about time to start my own fiefdom.

  It was time to become a vampire lord.
