“You really are a dumb bitch.” The older woman I’ve placed as mother over the women tsks. “Not only are you a whore that’s fuckin’ Sire’s men, you’re an arrogant child that believes she’s meant for the throne.” Pausing, Qistine chuckles. “Ah, you thought he didn’t know? Why else would I lie to you that he was going for a visit, only to watch you bend over to take another’s seed, hoping to pawn the child off as his.”
“We’ll see to her punishment for speaking so rudely to—”
“No,” snaps Chione, drawing everyone’s attention. “No,” she repeats, shaking her head, slowly, cutting off Almira.
Casting their gazes in my direction, I can feel the heat from the others’ eyes. They know that his kind of display can’t go unchecked. As sheikh, to allow anyone to be this openly disrespectful is a sign of weakness, even if Chione didn’t know it. Shit, for Chione to make such a demand for me to stay my hand, I can’t comply. Raising my hand, I order my father not to intervene. Chione be damned, he’s going to protect my throne no matter what.
“Chione,” I remark.
No shade. No rudeness.
“What are you going to do, beat her? After the bruises are gone, then what?” she asks. “Ms. Bitch needs to learn pretty hurts. A life lesson that tragedy can alter one’s life at any moment in time,” says Chione with a lift of her nub.
I root my feet to the ground to keep from falling over at the regalness in her uneven walk.
“Son?”
The closeness of my father’s whisper at my side does nothing to break me from my trance. It takes his next words to do the trick.
“I was wrong about her.”
Blinking, I snap my head to glare into his wide eyes. In their depths, I see a wicked amount of pride and excitement. With a nod, he steps back.
“Honey, I read you own a private zoo.”
Confused, I answer, slowly. “Yes. It’s open to the public now, but yes.”
When Chione touches Nargis, she flinches away in disgust. Chione shrugs it off with a smile.
“We’ll begin small, okay? Just the removal of your hand,” she speaks in a soothing voice.
I can’t show my shock, but my ma, along with others in the room do it for me.
“If you disrespect me again, I’ll order more of you chopped off to feed to the animals. But I’ll take your primate joke as a compliment, because those animals are smart, catch on quick, and are very resourceful. You just failed to realize that I’m not a monkey, my dear. I’m a raging gorilla that if not watched closely, will eventually kill your dumb ass.”
The pat Chione places on the side of Nargis’ pale face is more like a hard slap.
“Such a fitting punishment for one that always seemed to have idle hands. We shall pray that it only takes one time for Allah’s wisdom to take hold.” Qistine smiles.
Wide-eyed with fear, Nargis cranes her neck towards me. She works her mouth but is too scared to speak.
“So, shall it be.”
With those four words, a flood of anguish, tears, and screams erupts from Nargis’ once glossy lips. All Chione does is back away when Nargis throws herself on the floor She watches the display, getting a good look at the woman before she lowers herself back down into her chair. Staring out into the crowd behind me, Chione lifts her whiskey sour and drinks. She has no clue what is being spoken in Arabic, but I do. I listen closely to the loose lips that speak of all the underhanded shit that Nargis has done, of the harsh treatment she has shown many. I also hear the warnings of her father not taking this on lightly, and that Chione, although showed strength, has gained an enemy.
Oh, if only they knew that Nargis’ father is low on Chione’s unaware enemy list. No doubt Nargis has clued the others in on what I’ve been up to and what my intentions are. The reports Yas will be giving me on the calls they are making, promises being made, plots being formulated, money changing hands is going to keep me busy for days.
“We leave for Dubai tomorrow evening. In the morning, Chione will pick who will be a part of her private household,” I announce.
I’m not surprised when Father and Ma stay behind after the room is cleared. We’re all trying not to stare at Chione as we wonder where all of that came from. I know she’s done things, claimed to have killed people to hide her tracks, but I thought I was the one with the evil lurking beneath the surface.
“Okay, I’m going to bed,” she announces, nonchalantly as if she didn’t just order a woman’s hand to be chopped off.
Stopping to toss back her drink, reaching over, she finishes off mine, she raises her eyes to lock into place with mine.
“I want to know what is expected of me.”
I nod, taken aback. She moves from around the table then stops to add, “I will give you those things you listed, but understand and remember the shark-infested pool I come from.”
With that said, Chione leaves the room in a state of silence.
“She’s really not going to do that to that girl, is she?”
“It didn’t seem like a show to me,” replies father. “Hey, explain that understand and remember stuff she just said. What does that mean?”
I can’t take my eyes off of the gaping doorway Chione just walked through. I won’t allow the shudder that threatens to take hold to rattle my body.
“I have my partner. It means my throne is secure because everyone is so worried about the cobra, that they won’t notice the scorpion watching my back.”

Hello Peeps!
So, whatcha think? I know this is a bit more and a little different from what I usually write. I hope you still enjoyed the read with all its twists, drama, and sex.
Now, on to Part 2. I can’t wait until the truth comes out between Tarif and Dr. O. That’s going to knock you off your feet. I promise. Then you’ll get down to see what the heck Chadli’s been up to with Sadè. Be warned, though. Their story is going to jerk at your heart and produce one or two tears. Lastly, Chione and Shahid are going to show the fuck out. Those fools think they are going to strike, ‘cause waves, huff and puff, and break them up. Ha! They just don’t know what a ruthless force they will be dealing with. Chione born into the Mob, thanks to her no good father. Oh yeah, old Chubby needs to be dealt with, too.
By the way, FUN FACT; Chione isn’t new to my writing universe. If you’ve read my books, I wonder if you picked up on her story line. I dropped a few hints, Chubby, Russell, and the biggest hint, Andreas. Starting to clear things up a bit, huh?
