Jason
“Damn, she’s hot,” the recruit next to me whispered as we collapsed to the floor for another round of push-ups.
I nodded. “Yeah, she is.”
“I wouldn’t mind getting some of that.” I wanted to smack the shit out of the young punk.
“Good thing for her, we’re not allowed to approach the civilians like that while we’re in training,” I said between ragged breaths.
“Too bad,” he said. Keep it in your pants, asshole. She’s mine.
The subject of our discussion stood like an angel in front of our recruit class. It was the first day of our physical fitness boot camp as new firefighter trainees. While we had to be in tip-top shape for acceptance into the program, the goal was to take our prowess to another level.
Before our intense session began, she had introduced herself as Lauren. Her beauty struck me hard—standing at 5 foot 7, with green eyes and brown hair tied back in a ponytail—but there was something else drawing me to her. Fate screamed at me to claim her.
“Okay, pick up your kettlebells. We’re doing 100 swings. Go!” Lauren shouted. Our class immediately obeyed.
“Why are they training us at a public gym by a civilian? A woman at that?” the annoying recruit next to me asked. I pretended to not hear the question.
“If you’re able to talk to your neighbor, you’re not working hard enough,” Lauren shouted, then threw a wink my way, causing a huge grin on my sweaty face.
I caught Lauren ogling me several times during the workout. Every time my eyes met hers, she looked away. It was difficult to swing a kettlebell without banging it into my aroused cock, which tented my dark blue uniform shorts.
“Great work people, keep it up,” Lauren said in her sweet but authoritative voice. More than her outfit—tight black pants and a gray sports bra that showed off her amazing body—there was something else about the girl that caused my erection. The way she carried herself and her energy consumed my every thought since I first laid eyes on her an hour earlier. She was the most beautiful person I had ever seen and she was mine, she just didn’t know it yet.
Our entire class collapsed in a sweaty heap when we finished the workout. Lauren handed out extra towels to the group as we caught our breath on the floor. I sniffed my towel to see if it smelled like Lauren’s hand. No such luck.
Lauren walked to the center of our circle. “You all will be in my class all week. Next week, you’ll work with someone else, focusing more on strength training. The following week, you’ll be back with me. You’ll rotate until you’re finished with your three-month boot camp.”
Lauren would grace my presence for half my workouts. I suppressed the urge to let out a victory shout.
A momentary cramp in my hamstrings distracted me for a moment before an electric touch on my shoulder jolted my senses. “You slayed that workout, recruit.” Lauren stood three inches from me, looking down at me over her perfect tits.
“Thank you,” I said. “I’m looking to impress you every day.” Not just here. Every single day, the rest of my fucking life.
“I’m impressed by all of you,” Lauren said. “Thanks for serving the public.” With that, she walked away. I watched her perfect ass disappear around the corner.
“Damn.” The same recruit who annoyed me the entire hour stared at her ass too.
I gave him a stern look. “She’s mine,” I said.
A look of confusion washed over his face. “What do you mean? We’re not allowed to engage the civilians like that.”
“I’ve never been so sure of anything in my life,” I said.
“You know you’d get in a lot of trouble if you messed around with her.”
“I’m not worried about it,” I said as I stood and stretched the cramps out of my legs. The images of Lauren and the sound of her voice would not leave my head.
The rest of my class dragged their asses down the hall to the locker rooms. Two women recruits went into their facility and I hung back and let the other guys go into the men’s locker room. When they all left my sight, I turned around. A shower be damned. I had to find Lauren.
For the past six years, since I was 24, I had no interest in dating. Suddenly, a goddess entered my life and consumed my soul. I glanced down every hallway in the facility and did not see her.
“Can I help you?” the front desk attendant asked as I approached in a hurry.
“Yes, do you know where Lauren is?”
“She walked outside a minute ago to leave.”
“Thank you,” I said and headed to the exit.
Protocol and rules did not matter. All I cared about at that moment was claiming Lauren like someone rescued from a deserted island claims their first hot meal.
Lauren’s sexy ponytail bobbed up and down between aisles of cars on the far end of the parking lot. I sprinted after her with no plan, other than to make her part of my life.
Lauren
My nerves still had my stomach in knots as I left the gym. The class of firefighter recruits was my first. They all seemed fitter than me. To say the session was intimidating would be an understatement.
“Lauren, wait up,” a sexy voice called out from behind me as I pulled the handle of my car door.
I turned and saw the hottest recruit approaching. “Recruit Fox, what is it?”
“You can call me Jason,” he said.
I felt my insides tingle as Jason stood in my personal space. I had checked him out many times during the class. He packed an impossible amount of muscle onto his tall frame. He appeared older than the other recruits and had an air of maturity about him.
“What can I do for you, Jason?” Against my better judgment, I closed the car door behind me and leaned against the panel.
His deep blue eyes pierced into my soul. “You are the most beautiful woman I have ever met.”
Although guys had flirted with me a million times before, my tongue remained frozen. My entire life, it seemed being beautiful was all that other people could see. I wanted others to see me as something more.
Jason took my hands into his big, strong, sweating palms. “Go out with me tonight, Lauren.”
“You don’t even know me,” I said.
“I’ve never wanted to make someone mine as bad as I do now.”
I peeked around Jason’s massive frame to be sure nobody could see us in the parking lot and get the wrong idea. “But I’m not allowed to date clients. They made it clear to us before your class arrived. And we were told you’re not allowed to approach us like this.”
“I’m not going to let rules get in the way of what I want.” The defiant way he held himself confused me and yet threatened to ma
ke me wet.
“But we can’t. We have three months of training ahead of us.”
“Shh,” Jason said, resting a hand softly on my cheek. His face lowered toward mine. I should’ve jerked away but I did not. I let his mouth connect with my trembling lips. The world around us disappeared as our energies connected. His molten tongue passionately thrust into my mouth, caressing me with heat. Unable to handle the pressure, I pulled away.
“What was that for?” I asked.
“I wanted to taste you, to feel you.”
“Oh God, I can’t believe I let you kiss me.”
“I want you to be mine. There’s something about you, Lauren.”
Usually, if a man told me there was “something” about me, more than beauty, after meeting me a mere hour before, I would call it out as bullshit. But I felt “something” more about Jason too, so perhaps he wasn’t spouting a trite line.
“We can’t do this,” I said. “It’s too dangerous. Both our careers could get ruined if we got caught.”
“I don’t care. You’re worth it.”
“You should care,” I said, and got into my car. “Good day, Jason.”
My heart rate still mimicked that of a hummingbird as I pulled out of the parking lot. I glanced in the rearview at the hunk still standing there watching me drive away. I felt a strong tingle begin between my legs and spread up through my belly into my chest, getting caught in my throat before I swallowed it back down.
“That man is going to be nothing but trouble the next three months,” I said to the lucky cat waving its paw at me from my dashboard. The emotional side of me wanted Jason so bad, but I was determined to be successful in my career and not fool around with a client.

Jason
My legs trembled with excitement as I walked into the gym the day after I kissed Lauren in the parking lot. The memories of the kiss haunted my training sessions all day long after I left, then kept me up all night long. I felt her passion and knew it wouldn’t take long to convince her to stay with me forever. The weak protest she gave me was in response to how quickly I swooped in.
“Fox, you ready to kick some ass here again today?” Chief Holloway greeted me in the gym’s lobby.
“Sure thing, boss.” I didn’t know he’d be at the gym that morning.
“Thought I’d drop in and see how my recruits are doing at the physical fitness.” Chief was dressed in his uniform, not gym clothes. However, he did his own thing at the firehouse. He was a beast and could outlift any of the new firefighters, including myself. My goal was to catch up to him sooner rather than later.
“We’re eating it up. Eager to be the best, sir,” I said. The feeling was real. I’m not the type to suck up to anyone.
“Keep making me proud. All of you,” Chief Holloway said, this time within earshot of a few other recruits.
I felt my cock swell as I led our group down the hallway to the workout space. Lauren awaited ahead. I could already smell the faint hint of strawberries in her hair like I did during our kiss.
As we lined up to prepare for the workout briefing, a nasty surprise appeared in the room. In front of the class stood an older, wiry-framed gentleman. Lauren said the day before she’d be with us all week.
“Good morning, recruits. Your scheduled trainer couldn’t be with us this morning, so I’m filling in. My name’s Hank,” the unwelcome man said. I had nothing against him personally, but he wasn’t Lauren, so I was pissed and worried about Lauren at the same time.
Where the fuck is my woman? Despite all the motivation leaving my soul, I attacked the workout with the same vigor I did everything in life. As we sprinted laps around the indoor track and did more pushups than humanly possible, thoughts of Lauren occupied my mind. The tiny group of freckles resting above her amazing tits, the way her green eyes sparkled when our kiss ended—everything about her made me happy to be a man.
“Recruit, what’s your name?” Our trainer, Hank, patted me on the back as we drank water, recovering from the workout.
“Jason Fox, sir.”
“It was a pleasure training you and the group today. You crushed it. I believe you finished first on everything. Great job.”
“Thank you, sir,” I said. Hank was a good man, but I hoped to not see him again. Lauren belonged at the front of the class.
Speaking of Lauren, I needed to find out what prevented her from training us that morning. If it was our kiss, then perhaps it would take more work than I imagined making her mine. I hoped she didn’t quit her job or something to avoid facing what we felt.
Like the previous day, I skipped the showers and ran straight to the front desk. “Good morning, Patty, do you know where Lauren is today? She was supposed to be our trainer.”
“Oh, sir, you haven’t heard? She had a little accident yesterday evening and is in the hospital.”
I felt like puking. “A little accident? Is she okay?”
“Yes, she’ll be fine from what I heard. I’ll visit her in the hospital when my shift is over.”
“Which hospital is she in?” I asked with a hint of panic in my voice.
“The big one downtown. I can’t remember the name offhand, I’m new to the city.”
“Thank you, Patty,” I said as I turned to sprint out the building. I needed to go see Lauren.
As I sped out of the parking lot in my truck, I dialed Chief Holloway on my cell phone. “Chief, it’s Fox.”
“Fox. What’s wrong?” he asked, detecting the urgency in my voice.
“My woman is down at the hospital. I need to go see her.”
“Your woman? I thought you were single.”
“No, sir. I’m not.”
“What happened to her?” Chief asked.
“I’m not sure yet. All I know is there was an accident. They said she’d be okay, but you know how ambiguous that word is,” I said.
“You’re going to miss time at the academy. That’s tough to make up,” Chief said.
“I understand, sir. I’ll catch up.”
“I’m sure if anyone can make up for lost time, it’s you. Keep me updated.”
“Thank you, sir. I’ll rejoin the group as soon as I can.”
Truth be told, I didn’t give a damn about my training or reputation with the Chief at that moment. All I wanted was to hold Lauren and make sure she felt safe in my arms.
The drive to the hospital gave me sour flashbacks to my father’s accident. That trip did not end with good news. Thankfully, Lauren seemed to have escaped the same fate with her accident.
Denver traffic held me up longer than I wanted. It was too bad I didn’t have emergency lights on my personal truck. Finally, I arrived at the hospital and rushed to the front desk.
“Can I help you sir?” the woman at the counter offered. Thankfully, I was wearing my uniform t-shirt, so I would get better service than a random guy off the street.
“Yes, I need to see a young woman who arrived last night. Her name is Lauren.” I realized I didn’t know her last name since I intended to make it the same as mine before long.
“Sir, do you have a last name?”
“No, but I need to see her.”
“You must be one of the emergency personnel that brought her in.” I didn’t correct her. “Do you have an approximate age for Lauren?”
“Yes, ma’am, I’d say she’s around 22 years old.” Normally the thoughts of her tight body would make me horny but at that moment I only thought of her safety.
“Okay, sir, there’s only one patient by the name of Lauren in that age group. You hit it on the head, she’s 22. She’s in room 316.”
I uttered a “thank you” and rushed to the stairwell. The odds of an elevator breaking down were slim, but I took the stairs to avoid any potential delay.
A sweet, higher voice that wasn’t Lauren’s came from room 316 as I approached. Could that be her mother? I hadn’t thought of the potential awkwardness that a parent would experience if I walked in claiming to be Lauren
’s man. Social graces be damned, I needed to hold Lauren.
I pushed the cracked door open and walked in. My sweet angel was sitting up in the bed, with a curvy blond standing by her side. The left half of Lauren’s face was wrapped in bandages, all the way to the top of her skull. Her gorgeous hair had been shaved or burned off in several places. White sheets prevented me from seeing what condition the rest of her body was in. Her eyes and those of the other girl were wide open as their mouths hung open in surprise.
“Lauren, my God, what happened?”
Lauren
The sexiest man I’d ever met stood in the doorway of my hospital room. It had been a strange twenty-four hours since Jason kissed me in the parking lot at the gym. Since I didn’t have a recollection of what happened around the accident, I was glad to remember the kiss from earlier in the day.
“Jason? What are you doing here?” I asked. After the accident, I wasn’t sure if I could trust my senses.
“I missed you at the gym and asked someone where you were and found out you’d been hurt. I had to see you right away.”
“That’s sweet,” I said. If Jason was really in the room, and not a dream, it was a happy surprise.
My other visitor looked back and forth at my face and Jason’s. “Um, who are you?” she asked him. Her raised eyebrow contrasted with her cute dimples.
“Don’t mind her,” I said to Jason. “That’s my roommate, Dawn.”
Dawn still looked confused. “I’m Lauren’s man,” Jason said.
“Lauren didn’t tell me she landed the hottest firefighter in Colorado,” Dawn said.
“That’s because there’s nothing to tell,” I said.
“There’s more than just ‘nothing’”, Jason said.
Jason pulled a twenty out of his wallet and handed it to Dawn. “Go down to the cafeteria and get me some coffee. Get yourself something too.”
Dawn refused the money. “I can take a hint. I need to get to work anyhow.” She gave me a tight hug. “I’m glad you’re okay. I can’t wait to get you back home.”
“Thanks, girl. Love you,” I said.
