The Powerful Pride of an Immortal (Immortal Supers Book 4)
Page 24
I knew she was probably feeling a ton of complicated emotions, ranging mostly from anxiety to anxiety – as in, anxiety about leaving the house, to anxiety about going on a date with me. Thus, I started with asking how her day was, as well as sharing how mine went.
That put her at ease pretty quickly, and within a couple of minutes her hot thighs were no longer squeezed tight together, which was a sign that she was nervous, instead separated slightly, with the leather taut on her knees.
I then asked her what movie she wanted to go see, and when she told me which one, as well as the time it started, I realized we had a good forty-five minutes to waste before then.
“Want to get ice cream beforehand?”
She looked at me in surprise, only for a big grin to light up her face. “Yeah, I’d love to.”
I knew that a lot of places were going to be busy on a Friday, but I tried to pick out a spot where I didn’t think there would be as many people. And I was right, although it might have just been because it was still early in the evening.
After I parked, we went inside, with her getting a cup of chocolate ice cream with chunks of frozen peanut butter in it, while I got a cup of mint chocolate chip. She actually wanted both, but wasn’t crazy about them being in the same container, so I told her I’d get one and share with her.
Man, did she love that.
We then went outside to sit at a table, with the only other group being a woman with four kids, all of them chatting up a storm, bickering here and there, and enjoying their own frozen treats. The tables were circular, designed with three stationary bench seats at each one, which were just short enough to not make it very comfortable for two people to sit next to each other – at least, not unless you wanted to be squished together.
However, when I sat down, I saw a moment of indecision in her eyes, prompting me to scoot over a little with a smile, leaving it up to her. She seemed nervous as she sat next to me, and even more so when I carefully wrapped my arm around her waist.
“That alright?” I asked quietly.
She nodded, unable to speak, her face flushed.
I was watching her carefully to make sure she wasn’t giving off any signs she didn’t want my arm around her, but then she relaxed just a little and leaned more into me. I suspected her body was just overreacting to everything because she was inexperienced.
I could still recall the first time I’d ever kissed someone, literally a lifetime ago – my bottom lip was trembling uncontrollably like it was having a spasm. And the first time I got naked with a woman, my body was shaking so badly that it was embarrassing. Granted, she thought it was cute, but I definitely didn’t feel cute.
Nevertheless, I couldn’t wait to see if Heidi would have those same kinds of responses.
Since she seemed to have completely forgotten about the ice cream sitting in front of her, I used the small spoon that came with our orders and scooped out some of the mint chocolate, holding it up for her to take a bite.
She looked up at me with a warm smile touching her lips before she opened up, only to grab her own spoon and scoop out some of her chocolate and peanut butter, holding it up to my mouth with a grin on her face.
“Mmm, this is pretty good,” I commented, using my spoon to dip into her bowl. “You should try some,” I added with a grin.
She opened her mouth again, this time keeping her lavender eyes locked on mine, trusting me to get it in the right spot. Damn it was so hot.
We continued to eat like that, with her spoon only ever going in my mouth, while mine only went in hers. I then decided I was done about halfway through, and tried to start up another casual conversation while I continued to feed her bites of both, holding her tight against me. Her head was now resting against my upper chest, while my cheek rested against the top of her blonde hair.
She kept all her answers pretty short, and I suspected she was much more focused on the physical sensation of me holding her, rather than the conversation.
When I got to the very bottom of both bowls, she finally took the spoon from me to finish them off by scraping the sides. I went ahead and pulled out my phone to check the time, before giving her a little squeeze and asking if she was ready to hit the theater.
She agreed so we disposed of our trash and got back in the car. We hadn’t held hands yet, but I figured I might try for that during the movie. When we arrived, hesitation reappeared in her eyes. I suggested that we could do something else, but she only shook her head, refusing to budge from her seat.
Wanting to try to lighten the mood, I decided to be playful. “I know exactly what you need,” I teased, enjoying her confused expression. “We’re on a date, so of course I have to open the door for you.” I then got out and did just that, helping her out of the car and wrapping my arm around her shoulders as we walked up to the place.
She seemed to relax a little after I bought both our tickets, and even more when we were waiting in line to get popcorn – something she had to have. She seemed appalled when I asked her if she wanted anything else, as if there were no other options beyond popcorn and a drink. And it seemed that teasing her about it was really helping her feel more comfortable.
When we got to the room for our movie, we didn’t have to worry about picking out seats, because we’d already done so when we got our tickets. This place was pretty fancy compared to some, and let us see what seats were already taken beforehand.
Given this movie was kind of a chick flick, and that it had been out for a couple of weeks, I wasn’t too surprised that it was only about half full. There were three levels of seats, separated by a fairly tall half-wall between each level, with the majority of people sitting in the middle and upper level. Thus, I’d picked a couple of seats right up against the wall separating the lower level from the one above it. That way it would give the feel of sitting in the very back of the theater, with almost no one else in our section.
Someone in the next row behind us would actually have to lean over in their seat pretty far in order to look down at us, which I doubted anyone would do.
When we sat down, with the seats being more like plush recliners, I wrapped my arm around her again, since I’d pretty much had it that way the whole time. She leaned right into me, readjusting in her seat to get comfortable, but didn’t bother touching the popcorn in her lap.
I wasn’t sure if her mind was on me, or if she was thinking about the last time she’d been to a theater, so I decided to ask her if I could have some of ‘her’ popcorn, even though I’d been the one to buy it. She looked up at me with a grin on her face, grabbing a couple of pieces and holding them up to slip into my mouth.
I teased her by intentionally being overeager, nipping her fingers with my lips a little as I snagged the popcorn. I was pleased that it made her giggle. I then grabbed a couple of pieces to stick in her mouth, repeating what we’d done with the ice cream.
The movie started after some previews, but I wasn’t particularly interested in the film to begin with, and feeding Heidi popcorn required my full attention. Alternatively, she did start focusing on the movie as it began, but after a few minutes she unexpectedly grabbed my hand after I’d given her a couple of pieces of popcorn.
I looked at her in confusion while she chewed, before she swallowed what she had and brought my hand closer. She then gently kissed my fingers, only to start licking the salt off.
Damn Heidi!
Once they were clean, she began to suck on each of my fingertips gently, and finally looked up at me with a flushed face, her lips slightly parted. I focused on her bottom lip, when I realized it was trembling just slightly.
I knew what that meant.
Holding her vulnerable gaze, I gently rested my hand against the side of her face, and I leaned a little towards her lips. Her chin raised just a tiny bit, prompting me to slowly lean more, until her soft full lips were touching mine.
The movie sucked ass.
Or at least, it probably would have, if I’d watched any of it.<

16: Unpromising Lead
Winter Fowler
April 20, 2735 – 1 Day Later – Noon
“Dammit,” Winter hissed as she tapped on the power button to her computer again. But nothing happened. Even though it was plugged in, the screen was still black after ‘the blue screen of death’ flashed in her face, saying in tiny white letters that there was a critical error.
She sighed then, and tossed it onto the bed next to her, leaning back against the wall.
It wasn’t like she couldn’t afford to buy a new one – she had plenty of money at her disposal – but it was just the hassle of getting one and setting everything up the way she liked it. She also knew her data would be fine too, since it was all backed up on a secure cloud.
And if she was honest, she probably should have gotten a new one sooner, since hers was over five years old. However, that was one of her traits she struggled with – possession.
Once she owned something, it was hers.
Sure, she could share with others, but giving something up entirely was very difficult for her to do. Like her food. She had no problem giving some to Heidi, but would never give it up altogether.
And if someone tried to steal something from her, she’d become very aggressive, very quickly.
Taking a deep breath, she grabbed her phone and began browsing around for the most expensive, durable, top-of-the-line laptops she could find. She mostly ignored brands entirely, instead focusing on the highest specs she could get, no matter what price it was.
However, unexpectedly, a notification popped up, indicating she was getting a call…
From Jackie Hendricks.
Winter answered it and held it up to her ear. “Hello,” she said flatly.
Jackie didn’t waste any time. “We might have a lead that only someone of your talent could look into. It’s a long shot, but I didn’t want to tell Mr. Archer, only to have you refuse. So I’m asking you first.”
“I’m assuming this is related to the Sheriff case?”
“Yes, it is.” Jackie paused. “Of course, I can’t give you any more details unless you agree to the assignment. And you’ll be paid for your usual rate if you accept.”
Winter didn’t care about the money at this point, and normally she’d refuse even if they offered to increase her rate, which was already a pretty absurd amount. However, this was different.
“When do we leave?”
“You’ll take it?” Jackie asked in surprise.
“Yes.”
The woman sighed heavily. “Then meet me at the office, so I can go over the details with the two of you. I’m leaving right now.”
“Just us?” Winter clarified.
“Correct, it will just be the two of you. Being discreet will be essential, so a pair is a necessity.”
“Okay.”
Winter hung up, quickly dropping her phone on the bed to get changed to be in public. After all, her white-tiger fur drew way too much attention otherwise.

Sam Archer
April 20, 2735 – Current Day – Noon
Considering this dating thing was all new, I was confident that last night was going to be a big indicator on if this was going to work out or not. Specifically, the part where I came home and got in bed with Lily and Freya. After all, the previous evening was my first real date with one of the sisters, and it was the first time when I sincerely crossed that line of no return.
I kissed Heidi.
No, I made-out with Heidi for an hour and a half.
Movie was about an hour and forty-five minutes, so I finally broke it off when I knew I only had fifteen minutes to cool down. We then had a pleasant ride home, where I held her hand and we had a fun game of coming up with goofy opinions about the movie we didn’t watch.
Like Heidi commenting, “Oh, and that time when he dropped his ice cream down her shirt, and she flipped out because it was so cold. Or when he went to kiss her, and she suddenly had to sneeze. Or…”
I rolled my eyes at her, as Heidi’s ideas got more and more exaggerated and crazy.
But it was fun. A lot of fun.
However, ultimately, Heidi planned on using what she’d seen in the trailer as references.
When we got home, Lily, Lexi, and Rose were playing a game at the kitchen table while Freya held a sleeping Eden in her arms. It was actually kind of strange to have a baby around who slept so much, but she was growing like crazy. Eden was only two weeks old now, but was already the size of a five or six month old. Still small, but definitely a lot bigger than a normal infant would be.
Of course, they wanted to know how it went, and I let Heidi give her version, keeping it vague – ice cream was good, movie was a little funny, but not as much as the trailer made it seem.
Stuff like that.
Later that evening, once everyone had gone to bed for the night, except for Heidi watching Eden for us, I was more specific with Lily and Freya about how the date went, because as much as I loved how everything was progressing so far, I knew this was the big turning point. This was when it would become clear if we were going to be able to do this without ruining our current relationship.
And after sharing everything with them, Lily told me she wanted some attention like that, leading us to making-out, and then screwing, with Freya participating a little more than usual by kissing and rubbing my back while Lily and I went at it.
Then it was Freya’s turn, with her wanting to use the vibrator that could go in at the same time as me, so that Lily could control the remote while sitting at my side. Surprisingly, Lily kissed me on the shoulder frequently while she adjusted the modes for Freya.
And when Freya was getting close, Lily even held her hand for a few seconds.
It was hot, and amazing. And once we were all satisfied, we snuggled with Lily in the middle, until the two of them began falling asleep, at which point, I went to go take over baby-duty for the rest of the night so Heidi could go to bed as well.
I thanked my cute new girlfriend with a quick kiss on the lips, before wishing her goodnight and heading into the kitchen to feed a bottle to Eden.
I couldn’t have been happier.
Next morning was great as well. Heidi got up early, with a skip in her step, to help me cook breakfast for everyone. I made sure to tell her that I’d probably be going on a picnic later with Lexi, which she handled really well. If anything, it almost seemed like she expected it, causing me to wonder if Lexi had mentioned it last night after we got home.
And then by lunchtime, it was confirmed that Lexi and I were going out in the next thirty minutes, with me finding myself packing us a picnic blanket, since we’d probably stop somewhere to get food to go. I’d already made lunch for Lily and Heidi, as well as cups of black coffee for Freya and Rose.
Lexi came down the stairs just then, a short pair of jean shorts showing off the entirety of her hot toned legs, along with a flowery black and yellow top that was tight under her chest, but loose around her midriff. She also had a pair of sunglasses in her hair like a headband, her blonde locks pulled into a high ponytail.
She grinned when our eyes met. “Ready?” she wondered excitedly, glancing back at Lily coming down the stairs too.
“Yep. Think so,” I agreed.
Freya came down the hall then, returning from laying Eden down in her crib. I assumed Rose was going to hang out in there, as she frequently did, enjoying the happiness radiating from the infant like she might enjoy the happiness she got from watching a cartoon.
As I handed Lily a plate of food, she gave me a peck on the lips, followed by Freya accepting her coffee with a kiss as well. They then sat down at the table, and I went to collect my wallet and keys to leave.
Turning to Lexi, who was waiting patiently, my gaze went above her head when I saw Winter appear at the top of the stairs. She was dressed way more casually than I was used to seeing, wearing normal jeans, and a flowy top not unlike Lexi’s, except that it didn’t have flowers and
was just plain black. It also covered enough to ensure her fur wasn’t visible.
But shit, I knew she was around, yet she kept out of sight so much that it was easy to forget about her. Was that what she meant by out of sight, out of mind? And was it really natural for us to not think about her so easily?
At the very least, it wasn’t like we had completely forgotten about her. After all, prior to last night I’d only had sex with Lily and Freya one other time in the last week, with it being much more tame, and it was largely because we knew Winter would be aware of it.
Granted, it had been surprisingly easy to get used to a mind reader being around, and by last night, we kind of just didn’t care anymore. Kind of made me wonder if I should ask to see Winter’s superpower evaluation, if they could even show me, just to make sure she didn’t have an ability that required time to influence others. I felt like I could trust her either way, due to her association with the Supreme Guardian, not to mention the fact that she was somewhat involved with the CDS even if she wasn’t technically an employee, but it couldn’t hurt to know.
Surprisingly, she didn’t react to that thought, instead speaking up about something else the moment our eyes met.
“Sam, I know you have plans, but we have a job to do.” She then proceeded to walk down the stairs while everyone gawked at her.
“W-What?” Lexi said in disbelief.
Winter looked down slightly at her, due to the smaller height difference since Lexi was otherwise the tallest of the four women in the house, her expression sincerely apologetic. “I’m sorry. Your boss just called, saying they might have a lead. But it’s only something I can investigate. Sam and I are to meet her at the office so she can go over the details. We’ll probably be gone all day. Maybe tonight too.”
Everyone immediately looked at me like I had a clue about what was going on.
Lexi replied before I could though. “W-Well, then shouldn’t I come too? After all, I’m supposed to be his–”
Winter cut her off. “No.” She then paused, almost as if she was debating about whether or not she was going to elaborate. “Sorry. Your face is too recognizable. Your boss said we have to be discreet. Two people only. If you want to verify, give her a call.” She then looked up at me. “Let’s go, Sam. I’ll be in the car.”
