“I won’t leave.” She glared first at the healer, then at him. “This is my place, and those are my people. Were my people. The ones who’ve turned against me will pay as well.”
“Ariana,” he pleaded.
She slammed her fists into the mattress and uttered the name he prayed he wouldn’t hear. “Find Owen. Bring him to me.”
He glanced at the healer and saw her stricken look. “Is that wise?” she asked. “I thought he was no longer … traveling.”
“He will for me.” Her glare grew more menacing. “Find Owen,” she repeated. “Bring him to me.”
