Serpent Circles

“Darn fool city folks, they never listen to the locals. Nobody drove the backroads in the cold season.”
The End
Author notes
The inspiration for this story came to me from a nightmare. I woke at 3 am and got up to make notes about it. When I started to write down the elements, I found the location of a mysterious lodge from the dream more compelling than the action. Where was the lodge located and who built it? I put away the notebook and with a cup of coffee in hand, I went to my office and opened my computer. My intent was to outline areas surrounding the fictious Wakeman’s Lodge and develop its history. After just a few lines, Solomon Cooper’s story, which had nothing to do with the original nightmare, unfolded and I began writing Serpent Circles.
Although my books are fiction, I weave facts and information into every story. For Serpent Circles, I researched snakes which caused more nightmares. Then I used what I could before flashing my poetic license. If you are a herpetologist, I apologize for the unnatural behavior by the nadreddets in the book. And for you linguists, nadreddet is Welsh for snake.
I appreciate you selecting my book for your reading pleasure and hope you had as much fun reading it as I had writing it. And remember, if you must drive in the mountains during the cold season, drive slow, stay quiet, and keep your windows up.
