Gabby Garcia's Ultimate Playbook #3
Page 16
Gabby’s brother, Peter, figured more prominently in this book and although Gabby took a while to realize her brother could also be a friend, I’ve been lucky enough to feel that way about my brother, Bill, from day one. We grew up sharing favorite movies and books (even if our tastes didn’t always intersect) and we’re still lucky enough to be having conversations about them to this day, and many others.
When you have kids, people sometimes ask how you manage to write with them, but when it comes to my sons Clark and Nate, I can’t imagine writing without them. (And not just because they both peer over my shoulder from time to time asking how many pages I wrote and how big the book will be and and and. . . .) They are both more responsible for my creativity than I can ever explain, for the questions they ask, the love they share, and the selves they’re becoming. I’m inspired by them both and proud of them in ways beyond measure.
There’s always more to say than can possibly be articulated about my husband, Steve, who has never doubted me and reminds me often to not doubt myself. I am not always easy to live with, especially in the middle of writing a book, and he takes it in stride when I interrupt a conversation with some urgent book thought that pops into my head and needs immediate feedback, or when I encounter a case of the yips. He never fails to cheer me up when I’m in a slump but just as important, he is there to celebrate the wins, too. Like only the best of the best teammates do, he comes through, time and again. If I mention that he’s smart, funny, and good-looking, it will sound like I’m bragging, and I am.
And, finally, whether this is the first Gabby book you’ve read or if you’ve been with Gabby from book one, I want to thank you, the reader. Books can exist without readers, but you give them their real lives and this author is grateful.
