Geneva: Garden of Joy (Brides of Grace Hill Book 1)

“You most certainly do, but do let’s get on with it lass! I need a hot bath, I’m tired of wearing one pink slipper, I ache all over, and I’m absolutely famished!” Millie replied causing everyone to laugh, her Scottish accent stronger than usual.
Ridge and Geneva both laughed, and Ridge steadily looked up at Jen, waiting for an answer, still on bended knee.
“Well, there’s just one more thing I must know before I give you my answer, Mr. Morgan.”
Ridge remained patient on bended knee looking somewhat amused again.
Geneva turned toward the men gathered a few feet away. “Reverend Granby, will you marry us in June? I always thought a June wedding would be nice if I ever did marry.” Geneva inquired as Ridge shifted on his knee and ran a hand through his dark locks.
Reverend Granby stepped forward from somewhere beside Bird-dog and the stable hands. ”Yes, yes indeed, I will be delighted to marry you in June!”
Turning to Ridge, happy tears brimmed in her eyes, a beautiful smile brightening their world. “That leaves one question. Will you accompany me to church on Sundays and serve the Lord forever?”
Ridge stood up grinning broadly. “Forever is a mighty long time to attend church on Sundays Miss Geneva Rosemont; but if it will make you happy, I will attend and accompany you to church on Sundays, we shall forever serve the Lord, and the preacher can marry us in June! Now, I’m bringing you to the terrace so everyone can hear your final answer.”
With that, he scooped her up in his arms. She clasped her arms around his neck as he carried her toward the terrace, counting weeks on her fingers. Aunt Millie followed eagerly close behind with Abner and Caleb to lean on. Pearl stepped off the terrace to meet Millie. They swept through the crowd of students and staff gathered on the terrace lit up with lanterns, all in a hush to hear the rest of her answer.
Clutching the wooden spoon and positioned against his strong chest, she smiled adoringly up at Ridge as Craymoore held the French doors open for them. Ridge paused when they reached the center of the students and staff gathered about them on the terrace. His eyes searched hers for an answer. She glanced about the happy faces around her who shared in her joy and found her voice, turning back to Ridge’s eyes. “Ydw, I will marry you … in about five weeks, on the thirtieth day of June! Rwy’n dy garu di, Mr. Ridge Morgan!”
Somewhere above the cheers, Bird-dog began singing Auld Lang Syne. The students and staff joined him in song as they followed the happy couple and joyful Aunt Millie inside the manor house holding candles, lanterns, and smiles on their faces and in their hearts.
Geneva whispered in Ridge’s ear as staff and students continued to sing, swaying their lanterns as he carried her to the staircase. “In five weeks, you may kiss me as often as you like!”
“And twice a day until then, Miss Rosemont!” Ridge announced with his sparkling eyes and a mischievous grin.
“Then, Mr. Morgan, may I have one more today… to make two?” she looked up at him coyly, hopeful for his answer, clasping the spoon in her hands with her arms still wrapped about his neck.
“I thought you’d never ask!”
