“Tell me then.” He continued to drill his eyes into mine.

“Make me cum, Jack. Please,” I whispered.

His mouth hit my neck. He sucked and gently bit and sent ripples throughout my spine. His hands found their way to my lower region. “Do you want one or two?” He bent one finger in me, then pulled it out and slowly twisted in two, before repeating it over again.

“Shit, Jack,” I cursed at him. I closed my eyes and tried to steady my breath, as I knew he was only getting started with me.

“Or, maybe you want three, baby?” Those intense, sexy eyes never left mine, as he inserted three fingers at once, then rubbed, glided, and twisted against my insides.

  I whimpered against him.

He continued to finger-fuck me with his one, two, three sequence. He didn’t miss a beat, and intensely gauged my reaction.

The side of my leg felt his erection spark to life again. Apparently, it turned him on to watch me. I grabbed his dick and tried to stroke him.

He sat up, pulled his fingers out of me, grabbed my hand, and moved it to my other hand. Then, he took my wrists and held them over my head.

“I want full control of your body. Can I have it?”

Did he seriously say that? My entire body fluttered. I let out a shaky breath, bit my lip again, and nodded. Anything to get his fingers back in my body.

“Do you want that, Maddie?” His lips were inches from my mouth, and his eyes drove into mine.

  I nodded again.

  “Tell me,” he demanded.

“Please, Jack.” I would beg if that is what he wanted, desperate for his touch once more.

He secured his hold on my wrists above my head, then started his finger rotation once again. Over and over, he teased my G-spot then pulled back, as I moaned and closed my eyes.

“Open your eyes, Maddie. I want to see you.”

  I opened my eyes.

“Good girl. Now you get more.” He put his thumb on my clit and rubbed me slowly, effortlessly, with enough speed to take me up, but not enough to push me over. He released his thumb whenever his finger would swipe my G-spot.

I was in heaven. I was in hell. I was up, but not enough, and on the cusp of exploding. Yet, he continued to hold me back.

“Oh God…please...don’t stop...oh, please...Jack,” I cried out. Not able to think anymore, as my eyes tried to stay open, but I had to blink repeatedly. My body became his to control.

“You want it, Maddie?” he questioned and pushed my wrists higher up so my body was stretched further. Thumb on, thumb off. Fingers in, fingers out.

I nodded, not able to talk, groaned loudly, and tried to breathe. I begged him with my wild and crazy eyes. The lower region of my body swayed back and forth, and moved into him further.

Jack had a full-blown hard-on now. I could feel it pulsing against my leg. I glanced at it and Jack saw me.

“What do you want, Maddie? Do you want my fingers or my dick?” Jack shifted his head so his lips were right up against mine.

“Fingers. Dick,” I cried out not able to decide or comprehend. My brain was a foggy mess. I wanted to cum, but Lord, his dick was hard.

“Why don’t I give it all to you? Would you like that?” His eyes beat into mine.

Like a dog salivating, I was eager for it all.

“Tell me you want it all,” Jack calmly instructed me, his lips so close to mine, but he held back, as I tried to grab them with my own lips.

“Want...all,” I managed to get out, breathless and crazed for him to give me whatever he saw fit.

Jack smiled, then quickly put his thumb on my clit and his finger on my G-spot at the same time. I spilled my sex all over the place. I was a bomb that erupted everywhere. My eyes rolled, and my body violently convulsed, as Jack watched my face the entire time.

I didn’t get a rest. The minute my orgasm slowed, he slid in me and the climb up the mountain started again. This time, I was still quaking and my eyes hadn’t regained focus.

  “Jack…you’re so…good.”

  “Ah… you’re heaven, Maddie.”

“Oh…fuck,” I screamed out, as his girth shimmied against my walls.

Jack released my wrists and I wrapped my arms around him. I dug my claws into his back, while still trembling as he entered and exited me. Tightly, I wrapped my legs around his rock-solid body and started to orgasm again.

“You’re...fuck...Maddie.” He found my lips and claimed my tongue.

I think he knew I couldn’t go much longer. He pumped hard in me, called out my name, and God knows what else.

I was delirious. I don’t know how long we laid there, but the sun started to rise. We were in a pool of sweat and body fluids, exhausted from our efforts.

Jack’s phone alarm rang. My head jerked. He laughed. “Time for my workout.”

“You have to be kidding me.”

We probably just burned a thousand calories apiece.

An amused Jack shook his head, “Nope.” He leaned over, kissed me on the lips, and whispered, “You, Maddie Burns, are fucking amazing.” Naked, he jumped out of bed and walked out to the balcony.

  Jack

She was sweet and innocent but wild and uninhibited, to my surprise. I couldn’t get enough of her, and I wanted to keep pleasing her.

Once outside, I jumped in the water, and my body took delight in the cool temperature. I swam laps, back and forth, my mind in more motion than my body.

I have to see her again.

My mind raced about how I needed to make sure she wouldn’t go back to her side of the hotel, and that would be it. I wondered if she, like me, wanted to see where this could go.

She was fresh out of a breakup, but she sounded adamant that it had been over for a while. I prayed she wouldn’t make that a reason she couldn’t continue to see me.

I hadn’t put my heart out there...not since Kelly. There wasn’t anyone I would have even considered seriously dating. But Maddie was like no other woman I knew, and if she slipped through my fingers, I would officially be the biggest idiot on earth. I hardly knew her, but I knew that in my gut.

I don’t deserve her, but I have to have her.

I swam to the wall and dove under, turned, and kicked my feet off of it. My body skimmed through the water, and I rose to the surface to catch a glimpse of her. She sat in the chaise with a robe on and watched me.

Well, she hasn’t left, so that’s a good start.

What is she thinking? I wondered. Will she want to see where this can go or will she only want this to be a one-nighter? She didn’t seem like a one-night-stand type of girl, but who knew. Not that I was judging if she was. Lord knows, I was no saint.

My past. I was such a dick. It would serve me right if she did tell me it was only for one night.

The more I swam, the more I started spinning out, my demons starting to catch up to me with no amount of exercise to burn them out of my mind. I really didn’t deserve her, but I would fight for her if needed.

It took me a minute to register that he was naked on the balcony. I stood up and walked over to the sliding glass door. There was a pool I hadn’t seen the night prior, and Jack swam laps in the nude.

I threw a robe on and planted myself on a lounge chair. Jack’s body effortlessly cut through the water, back and forth, over and over again. I watched him like a guilty pleasure.

  Damn, he’s so hot.

An hour later, he jumped out of the pool, wrapped a towel around himself and sat in the chair next to me. “Enjoy the show?”

“Why yes, I did.” I smirked at him.

Jack licked his lips, lightly laughing. “So what are your plans today?”

  “Zero, zilch, nada.”

  “Ah, the life,” he teased.

“Don’t you ever take time off? It is, after all, Saturday.”

Jack sat further back in the lounge chair. He turned his head toward me, and gave me a slight smile with a
hint of sadness in it. I could see his mind churning, as he chose his words carefully.

“It’s not that easy for me, Maddie.”

I didn’t understand. “What do you mean?”

“My work is who I am. It’s part of me. I’m nothing without it.”

Squinting my eyes at him in question, I tried to understand what he meant. “That’s a pretty bold statement to make. What’s really behind that?”

Jack stood up and leaned over to kiss me. “Nothing. I need to get ready for my meeting.” He turned and walked away.

Obviously, I had struck a nerve and wondered what the heck it could be. The realization that I had only known Jack for less than twelve hours—and while last night was the most amazing sex ever, I didn’t know anything about him—hit me. Well, except for the fact that he had accounts at my employer’s firm.

Crap. I had forgotten about that. That meant, at some point, I might run into him during work. And, he made a pretty large statement that work was everything to him, so there was no way he would jeopardize anything professional.

After spending six years with a workaholic and being in second place, I wasn’t about to do it again. Jack was nothing like Mike in the bedroom, but he sounded exactly like him in his career. I wasn’t about to journey through that disappointment again.

No, Jack was a god in bed, but no way he would want more. You just got out of a relationship. This is called a one-night stand, Maddie. Be grateful for what it is and move on.

Suddenly, I felt like I shouldn’t be there. I grabbed my wet bra and underwear that were still outside from the previous night, and threw on my dress that laid on the concrete floor next to the hot tub. Flashbacks of our night riveted through my head.

But I quickly pulled myself back to reality and slid into my sandals, walked into the penthouse, and found a pen and paper pad in the kitchen.

  Jack,

Thanks for a great night. Have a great rest of your trip!

  Maddie

From there, I walked into the bedroom, grabbed my suitcase, and started wheeling it away. I reached the door but didn’t make it out.

  “You’re leaving?” Jack sounded hurt.

Paralyzed, I stood still and didn’t turn around. Suddenly, I wasn’t sure what the hell I was doing by leaving like this.

  “Maddie?”

I turned to see Jack in a towel, and he looked at me like a wounded bird.

“I left you a note,” I managed to get out and pointed to the kitchen.

Jack walked over and read the note. “Seriously?” He glared at me.

Speechless, I gaped at him, and the longer I stood there, the sillier I felt. The feeling I screwed something up surged through me. But what did I know? What exactly is one-night-stand proper etiquette?

“I thought I would see if my room was fixed now and get out of your hair,” I attempted to fib. I was always a crappy liar.

“Bullshit, Maddie.” Jack called me out. “What’s so bad that you have to sneak out of here while I’m in the shower, with your bra and panties in your hand and nipples all fucking erect under that dress?”

My eyes drifted to my body. Yep, my nipples were erect under my dress, my hands full of my undergarments, and my suitcase in my hand.

Oh jeez, I was an idiot.

“I think my nipples are my business, thank you,” was all I could muster.

“That’s funny, I remember them being my business less than a few hours ago,” Jack fired at me.

I couldn’t argue that one. I was out of words. Jack walked toward me, and I froze. Unable to move, I wasn’t sure how to get myself out of this one.

His eyes pierced though mine as he reached above my head and shut the door. I didn’t even realize it was still open. His eyes and voice went soft, “If I gave you any impression that I wanted you to leave, then I apologize.”

“You didn’t,” I quickly told him, then regretted it the instant it came out of my mouth.

He took his fingers and stroked my cheek. “Then what has you running out of here, like this?”

“I don’t know.” Again, another lie.

Jack grabbed my suitcase out of my hands and moved it to the corner and came back to the door where I still stood. He grabbed my hand and led me over to the couch. “Sit.”

“Now I feel like a naughty schoolgirl or something.”

Jack grinned. “Don’t get me started on fantasies right now.”

I laughed and felt my body start to relax a bit.

“Maddie, let’s get something straight, shall we?” His eyes penetrated mine.

I stared at him, not sure what he would say.

“Please, don’t ever leave me a note like that or try to sneak out on me again.” Jack grabbed my face and scanned my eyes.

  Again?

  “There’s something here—between us. I know it.”

I stared at him, unsure how to respond. If I was being honest with myself, I was up for a replay with Jack, no doubt. He gave me the best night ever. But, as I silently tried to comprehend his words and the meaning behind them, I couldn’t deny those weren’t words of a one night stand. They were words of something more. But I just got out of a relationship.

“Can we agree on both those things?”

I almost agreed but stopped myself.

“What?” He sensed there was something I wasn’t saying.

“Jack, what do you want from me? Last night was great...this morning was great...but honestly, I don’t expect anything from you. It’s okay,” I reassured him, giving him an out.

He didn’t answer the question but flipped it back to me. “Does this have to do with your ex?”

“What? No!” I denied, but inside, I knew that was definitely part of it. He looked at me like he didn’t believe me.

It wasn’t that I wasn’t over him; I was. I had been for months…actually, the truth was Mike and I had been over for years.

But if Jack was asking me to get into a relationship with him, was I ready to get back into one? How could it be possible for me to meet someone I could be in a relationship with this soon? And what about his work addiction?

“Why don’t you answer my question? What do you want from me?” I repeated.

Jack shook his head and inhaled deeply. “Honestly, Maddie, let’s start with your phone number. You not sneaking out of my room. Maybe a dinner date tonight, and tomorrow, and I don’t know what else, but maybe see where this goes?”

The truth was out. He wanted more, and it was now up to me to say yes or no.

Visions of me as I waited in restaurants by myself flashed into my mind. “I can’t Jack. I’ve done the ‘date the workaholic’ before.” I decided honesty was the best policy here.

“Ah. I see. So this does have something to do with your ex.”

I couldn’t deny it, I guess it did, as much as I didn’t want it to. I fidgeted with my fingers and focused on that.

“What was the worst thing about dating a workaholic?”

“I always came second. I won’t do that again.”

"And you shouldn’t. Maddie, do you feel you came second last night?”

I thought about it. There was no way I could say that I felt anything but Jack’s priority last night. “No, of course not. But it’s not the same thing.”

“Really? Did your ex make you feel like I did last night?”

  I blushed. “No.”

“Did you think I was attentive to you in the bar or only in my bed?”

I couldn’t deny that I was the only thing he seemed to care about last night. “All night. You put me first all night.”

“Then don’t you think I deserve a chance to show you that I won’t put you second, and I’ll put you first if we try to see where this goes?” Jack’s long fingers stroked my leg, as his eyes begged me to give him a chance.

I thought about it for a few minutes. Fear and excitement boiled up in me. I didn’t say anything at first.

“Please, Maddie. Give me a chance. I’m no
t your ex.”

One thing was right, Jack was nothing like my ex when it came to the bedroom or even how he made me feel last night before we had sex.

As much as I thought I should swear off guys for a bit, and needed to figure out who I was, I couldn’t deny I wanted more of Jack.

"Okay. But don’t disappoint me, because I don’t want to feel like a stupid girl anymore.”

He smiled, relieved, happy and content with my answer. “He’s the dumb guy. You’re not the stupid girl. And I won’t, I promise. But for God's sake, cover your nipples up because I need to go to work, and I’ll miss my meeting if you keep them out like that.”

I smacked him in the arm, not able to hold back my laughter.

“Seriously. Stay here as long as you want. Here’s the extra key for you.” He grabbed the extra key off the table, then vulnerably admitted, “I like having you here.”

I grinned like a schoolgirl. “I like being here with you, too.”

"It’s settled then. Give me your phone number and I’ll see you tonight for dinner?” He reached over to the table and grabbed his phone.

I agreed and put my number in his phone.

He kissed me, dressed, and left.

  Jack

The wheels of her suitcase rolled across the wood floor just as I stepped out of the shower. Panic ran through me. Sure enough, I caught her as she tried to leave.

She agreed to give me a chance. I know I didn’t deserve it, but I wanted to keep pursuing her.

Whatever guy she had been with was a serious douchebag. He put her second? What kind of man would ever put her second?

  A complete douchebag.

Maddie made her requirements clear, and I would do everything I could to make her feel like the precious darling she was.

My new partner was late. I wracked my brain about where I should take her for dinner. I opened my laptop and searched for places we could go.

Everything seemed so boring. I needed to find somewhere special. Somewhere to show her that I was committed to making her number one. That she deserved more than whatever her ex did for her, and that I would be the guy to give it to her.
