Zeke raised an eyebrow. “I’d love to.” He seemed to hesitate briefly, then said, “I’m not the best cook, but I have great taste in takeout and a pretty good supply of beer and liquor. We could pick something up and go to my place.” He gave her a sexy, sheepish grin that made her toes curl. “I promise I won’t have any expectations.”

What if I do? she thought but didn’t say. This was a terrible idea, but she nodded anyway. “Sure. But nothing’s coming off except maybe my shoes,” she told him, more for her own benefit than his.

He winked at her. “I give a hell of a foot massage, too.” She shivered, thinking what his hands would feel like on her aching arches, and then crawling up her calf…

Swallowing a groan, she stood and waited while he pushed up and arranged his crutches, cursing the whole time. She would have laughed had her nerves not gathered in a tight knot in her stomach. She followed behind him, waiting as patiently as she could while he tucked himself into the passenger seat, his crutches laid out across the backseat. “How much longer in the full brace?” she asked.

He grunted, a scowl on his face. “Nancy says she thinks I’ll be out of it in four weeks. I don’t know if I can handle it that long. I’m aiming for three, tops.”

She smirked as she pulled out of the parking space. “You can’t push it too hard, if you ever want to get back on a motorcycle.”

“Now you sound like her. Besides, I thought you weren’t a fan.”

Leigh grimaced. “I don’t exactly approve. But taking away your motorcycle is like…” She trailed off, looking for the right comparison. “Like asking me to switch careers from nurse to hair stylist. If there’s anything I’ve learned, it’s that people don’t change their colors.” Chris flashed through her mind, and she shook her head to clear it. “Which way do I go?”

He motioned right silently, and she tried to ignore the way he stared at her, as if attempting to read her mind. He had probably already figured out too much about her. Men like him were good at that, finding your weaknesses and using them to their advantage. She’d already crossed so many lines with Zeke, she didn’t need him finding those soft spots, that vulnerable side, where her inner demons resided. He’d have her wrapped around his little finger, and she’d wind up more broken than she already was.

No, she needed to make conversation that shifted the focus and put him on the hot seat, made him the one who was vulnerable. “Are you an only child?” she asked.

He laughed. “Why would you ask me that?”

She shrugged. “You strike me as the kind of guy who’s used to getting everything he wants. You know, like an only child.”

He sniggered. “No, I grew up without much. I went to Catholic grammar school and dropped out of high school after junior year. Went back and finished a year later. My brother’s the golden child. Eight years younger than me, got a full ride to college and graduated from Stanford with a 4.0 GPA, starting to build a tribe somewhere in Suburbia up in Connecticut. He’s got a wife and a couple of rug rats. Probably a dog or two.”

She cast a sidelong glance at him, curious. He stared out the passenger window, his face set in hard lines that only made him more attractive. He looked almost dangerous for the first time since she’d met him, and it gave Leigh chills to think she was drawn to it. “Do you ever want to have a family?” she asked, trying to draw him out of the dark place he seemed to have gone.

He shrugged. “The Devil’s Flames are my family now. Anything else that comes my way would be a bonus.”

The statement surprised her. She had expected him to scoff at the idea of a wife and kids. He was a biker, and he didn’t sound thrilled about his brother’s family, either. The idea that he might want to settle down was intriguing, and she felt her heart melting just a little toward him.

Pursing her lips, she reminded herself this was about nothing more than physical pleasure and moving on, if they even got that far. As much as she wanted to feel her body pressed against his, she hadn’t made up her mind yet.

“What about you?” he asked, drawing her back to the moment. “Are you looking for Mr. Right so you can have the picket fence and little Bobby and Suzy running around?”

She laughed. “Not sure I’d pick those names. I’m sure I’d eventually enjoy having a family. But I’m in no rush.” At least, not after the ordeal with Chris. She hated having trust issues, but it would be awhile before she could convince herself to trust anyone again. So then, why was she going to a strange man’s house with the intention of sleeping with him? Especially a biker?

She had to admit to herself, even if he was part of a gang, there was something about Zeke that inspired trust. Which was probably a complete lapse in judgment, and also probably how he got a lot of women to sleep with him.

She was surprised as he directed her to a nice country cabin on a sprawl of land, just outside the city. It was dark, but she could see the nearest neighbor was at least a football field away, and she had a sudden onset of nerves. If he wanted to hurt her, Leigh had no hope of getting help. Then again, she could at least outrun him, with that brace of his and the destroyed knee still healing beneath.

Great, she was basing her safety on an injury. Who the hell was she?

She found it even more interesting when he didn’t have to unlock the door. Apparently, there was a great deal of trust out here. Or maybe, he had security cameras and all sorts of booby traps in the way. She hated having her imagination run away like that, especially as she stepped into the house and found a tastefully decorated space, contemporary with mostly earth tones and a few bold colored accents. It didn’t fit with her image of Zeke as a criminal, or even as a motorcycle riding bad boy, and she wondered if maybe she’d made a snap judgment that wasn’t fair.

But then, as he hung his cut on a rack by the door, she reminded herself of the crowd he ran with and the type of lifestyle that entailed. No, she couldn’t let her guard down. She could have a wild night, but she couldn’t lose focus of her own values when it came to a real relationship. And wasn’t that a joke, she realized as he turned to look at her, his eyes blazing with desire.

Her stomach clenched, and she felt the first bit of moisture gathering between her legs. Interesting, considering her mouth ran completely dry. “We didn’t pick anything up to eat.”

Leigh shook her head, trying to swallow but nearly choking on her desert of a throat. “No, we didn’t,” she croaked.

He tilted his head, considering her carefully. “We could order delivery, but somehow, I don’t think it’s food that either of us are craving.”

It was a line, she told herself. And it was meant to entice her. But line or not, it was working, and she wanted to launch herself at Zeke. Instead, she stood still, right in front of the door, waiting to see if he was going to make a move. He hobbled toward her, reminding her she couldn’t just throw herself on him anyway without potentially severe consequences, and he stopped just inches from her. His cologne smelled delicious, like Old Spice tainted with citrus and cinnamon.

But he didn’t advance any further, and her breath came in short pants as her heart throbbed and her blood pumped hard enough that it echoed in her ears. In a voice barely above a whisper, he said, “I told you I wouldn’t make the first move, Leigh. And I wouldn’t be very smooth at it anyway.” He motioned to his leg. “I can’t exactly shove you against a wall and ravage you. I can’t carry you to the bedroom and lay you down on the pillows. So, I’m going to wait for you to come to me.”

He was all but begging, demanding at the same time. And Leigh’s body had shut down her higher reasoning in favor of sensation and desire. She responded, tilting her head back and pushing up on her toes enough to brush her lips across his. It was all the prompting he needed, dropping his crutches so they clattered to the floor and taking her face in his hands to deepen the kiss.

Instinctively, she opened to him and moaned at how good he tasted, how delicious it was to have his tongue seeking to please her, tangling with hers in so
me lewd dance that had her loins burning even as chills raced up and down her spine. He reached around with one hand and let her hair loose, twisting his fingers in it and using his leverage to pull her head back further and nibble at her neck.

She moaned, feeding on his dominant manner and giving in to the need she felt growing inside her with sinful pressure that threatened to spill over before any clothes came off. Gathering her wits the best she could, she breathed, “You’re going to lose your balance.”

“So?” he growled against her skin, making her shudder.

She sighed and reached a hand between his legs, stroking his erection through the denim and nearly crying out with the way he tensed at her touch. “You have to sit down and get that brace off, if I’m ever going to get those jeans off you.”

He lifted his head and gazed down at her with the cockiest grin she’d ever seen. “Are you saying you want to get in my pants?”

Too impatient now to banter, she grunted. “Just sit down and you’ll see.” She helped him to the couch and as he sat, she knelt before him, unlatching all the Velcro and buckles of the brace, triumphant when she finally slid it from his leg. As she set it aside, he was already working his fly, and Leigh watched with interest. He pushed his jeans down – no underwear – and his cock sprang forth, large and straining.

“Come here,” he demanded. Leigh worried about hurting his knee and leaned forward slowly, but Zeke was stronger than she thought. He bent and grabbed her by the waist, pulling her into his lap with little effort, and his mouth covered hers, drawing her back into the bubble of arousal. This time, though, his cock pushed against her, between her thighs, long and dangerous without his thick denim reining it in.

His hands were on her hips, lifting the hem of her shirt, and Leigh raised her arms to let him slide it from her body. He ran his fingertips over her ribs, around the bottom edge of her bra, making their way around her back and unclasping it so it fell from her shoulders. He drew the straps from her arms and tossed it aside, his hands falling on her heavy breasts. She rocked into his palms as he kneaded them, his head dipping and his mouth closing around one nipple with just the right amount of pressure.

Her core throbbed, and she wanted more of him, wanted to feel his skin under her touch. She started to work the buttons of his shirt and gave up, yanking it open with the last three buttons flying across the room. He chuckled gruffly, and she was glad she’d come to his place, where he had other clothes.

His chest was gorgeous, with the bruises around his ribs faded, and she spared a glance down at the scar on his stomach, her attention suddenly drawn to it. She traced a finger over the slightly puckered, pink skin. “Does it hurt?” she whispered.

“Not when you touch it, sweetheart,” he told her, shrugging out of the shirt. It wasn’t a real answer, but she took it for what it was worth – a way to keep her focused. Raising her eyes to his face, she was almost frightened by the ferocity of the need she read in his expression. Suddenly desperate and craving more of that look, she leaned in and pressed her lips to his ear, whispering, “I want you inside me.”

Zeke’s hips bucked, and he winced, apparently having put too much weight on the bad knee, but he dug his fingers deeper into her hips when she tried to lift off him. “Where do you think you’re going?” he asked in a tight voice.

She glanced back at his knee, opening her mouth to speak, but he shook her slightly, drawing her gaze. “I want you here, and I’m not worried about my goddamn leg. It’s fine. Let’s get those pants off you before I nail through them with my dick.”

Leigh had to laugh, and she leaned back letting him push her pants and panties down, then shifting to kick them off one leg at a time. It wasn’t lost on her how long it had been since she’d been naked with anyone, and that it had been eons since it had been with anyone but Chris. But his cock had never been this enticing, or this thick, and as Zeke’s head brushed along her wet slit, she shivered, all the pent up tension balling into a pressurized knot that threatened to explode.

Zeke slid home, Leigh clenching so tight he nearly came without even filling her fully. His cock surged, and he swallowed the need to let go. Instead, he used his hold on her to shove her farther down his shaft. He grunted and inhaled sharply as she rocked forward and then backward, stretching herself to fit him.

Her pussy was slick, hot, and worked like a vice grip, removing all sense of reason and most of his control. He fought to stay conscious of where he was and who he was with. He wanted to give Leigh the ultimate pleasure before he got his rocks off, and that meant holding back till he felt her fall apart in his lap. The pain in his knee had numbed, his ankle forgotten, and only the sensation of her smooth, wet walls around him mattered.

They pulsed, and he drove into her harder, deeper, pulling her down on him like a human sheath. “Fuck me, you’re like velvet,” he groaned. “And tighter than a tourniquet.”

She smiled down at him. “You might be a little thicker than I’m used to,” she moaned, and the compliment sent him reeling. He moved faster, harder, and she rode him like a jockey at the Kentucky Derby. He could feel her tense, and when she screamed, the convulsions of her body and her pussy threw him over the edge. He came with a final shove, spilling fast and hot into her as she thrashed and bucked, that gorgeous hair of hers flying wildly around her.

Zeke’s head fell back, and he was completely spent. He hadn’t been with a woman since the surgery, and it took more out of him than he’d imagined. Maybe his strength really had been affected by the injuries. He’d have to redouble his efforts at PT because the hell if he wanted this to be a one-time fling. As he peered through heavy lashes at the satisfaction on Leigh’s face, he realized he needed more, badly. This had been too quick, too desperate.

He wanted to take his time with her.

Slowly, she moved off him and settled on the couch beside him, throwing her head back as well, with her crystal blue eyes almost clear as ice as they stared at the ceiling. For the first time in longer than he could remember, Zeke wasn’t sure what to say, so he went with the most logical thing that came to mind. “Well, now, I could definitely use some food.”

Leigh didn’t respond for several moments, and he watched her expression cloud, her face tighten into a stoic mask he couldn’t read. “I think I should be going.” Rolling her head to look at him, she continued, “I have an early shift tomorrow, and I need to get home and get my things together.”

He scowled. “You could stay, you know. You’re welcome here, and especially in my bed.” He stroked her cheek with the back of his knuckles, not sure why, other than to smooth out the harsh expression she wore.

But she shook her head and stood, hunting down and gathering her clothes. “Thanks for the invitation, but I really do have to go. I have a morning routine, and if that gets interrupted or changed, my whole day is off.”

As she started to dress, Zeke felt something unsettling that he couldn’t describe at the thought of her leaving. Most of the women he slept with stayed, although admittedly, he didn’t usually bring them home. He’d stay in a bunk at the clubhouse with them, sometimes take them to a motel or stay at their places. In fact, he couldn’t quite put into words what the hell had possessed him to bring Leigh here to start with.

And now, she wanted to leave, without even giving him a second chance to satisfy her. “Listen, Leigh, I know it’s a little rough with my knee all fucked up, but I am a man of many talents, and if you give me another chance, I swear I’ll do better.”

She blinked at him, looking surprised, and then she laughed. “Come on, Zeke, that was amazing. Do you know how long it’s been since I’ve actually had an orgasm? It has nothing to do with the sex.” But she continued to dress, and there was nothing he could do but maneuver around and get his jeans back in place. He felt somehow vulnerable and even a bit ashamed of his body as she covered hers. Maybe she didn’t like the scars. Or maybe, she was already back to the judgmental images of him as a biker
that gave her such an aversion.

He couldn’t help but appraise her body all over again as she stretched to hook her bra and pull her shirt on. She was a muse, a goddess from head to toe, and he wanted to worship that fit body and make her say her prayers in return.

But he wasn’t going to push it. If she wanted to leave, he wouldn’t stop her. Hopefully, she’d come around eventually, and when she did, he’d be ready for her. Pushing to his feet, he made to walk her to the door. “If you’re sure, be safe going home. And maybe I’ll see you again soon.” He wanted to keep a level head, and he might have played it off as too casual, based on the slight flash through her eyes.

She gave him a noncommittal smile. “Well, I visit Nancy almost every day, so I’m sure I’ll see you.” She put a hand on his chest. “Don’t walk me out, Zeke. You have a knee that needs to heal.” She winked at him. “As good as you are as damaged goods, I can’t imagine your talent when you’re whole.”

So maybe she was interested. He doubted it, though, or she would have stayed. It was clear a dirty bastard like him didn’t deserve some clean, proper woman in his bed. So, he smiled back, not feeling it, and told her, “Don’t worry about me. I’m doing what Nancy and the doctor tell me.”

She leaned in and kissed him, chastely but lingering on his lips long enough to make his cock start to swell again, and he was glad he’d had the sense to put on his damn jeans. “You take care of yourself. And thanks for tonight. I’ll see you later, Zeke.” She paused and frowned. “Is there anything you need help with before I go?”

Yeah, this rock hard erection you’re giving me, he wanted to say. Instead, he shook his head. “I’m fine. I’m going to order something to eat and do the Netflix and chill thing.”

She nodded. “Alright. But don’t try to do anything that’s going to exacerbate your injuries. Don’t be too proud to call for help.”
