Resisting Double Trouble (North Bay Pursuits Book 8)

“Me neither,” Malcolm mumbled.
Lincoln reached across and placed his hand on Drake’s knee, giving it a pat. “The four of you are delightful together. Fancy brothers meeting and falling in love with brothers. You are gorgeous together.” Removing his hand, he wrote down more notes.
Drake tried to see what he was writing, but Lincoln had angled the book, preventing him from seeing.
Lincoln caught him looking. “Naughty boy. You don’t get to see my thoughts. They’re private.” He dragged the word “private” out in a purr. “Can you tell me how you knew the twins were interested in you?”
Drake laughed ruefully. “You know the boys! They’re pretty straightforward with what they want. They let us know in no uncertain terms that they wanted us. Unfortunately, they were young, and we were, well, old.”
“Oh honey, don’t call yourself old. You’re as young as you feel.” The hand landed on Drake’s knee again. “Now what about your love language?” Lincoln asked, tapping the end of the pen against his bottom lip.
Drake looked at him in confusion. “I don’t know what you mean.”
“When I was a young boy, my dad showed his love for my mother by making her a cup of tea every morning. He said it was his language of love. His love was demonstrated by that small action.”
Drake hadn’t really considered it before now. He thought about it for a moment. “Well, I guess it could be the way I try to be aware of Dean’s needs. I like to care for him and anticipate what will make him happy.”
“Yeah, same here,” Malcolm said. “When we redesigned our home, every decision was based on making the perfect space for the twins. Giving them a place where they would feel safe and cherished.”
Lincoln sighed wistfully. “Thank you. You’ve both been delightful. I’m getting married next year, and the information you’ve given me will help in my endeavors.”
Drake looked at Lincoln in confusion. How could this help him with his marriage? “Is your fiancé here tonight?”
Lincoln gave a sultry laugh. “No, I haven’t narrowed down the list that far yet. I started with three hundred men, and now I’m down to three. I am pretty sure which one it will be because I feel warm when I talk to him. One of my friends told me that is a sign of attraction. Or maybe I was hot at the time. Who knows? Anyway, I appreciate your honesty. I’ll let you get back to your evening.” He left with a sway of his hips.
Drake cleared his throat. “Well, that was interesting. I don’t know if we helped or not.”
Still staring at Lincoln’s retreating form, Malcolm chuckled. “Could you image being married to him? It would be like being married to multiple men. I have a feeling he would be a real handful.”
Drake glanced back at the dance floor and found his husband walking toward him. His body flushed and he thought about Lincoln’s words from before.
Dean perched himself on Drake’s knees and wrapped his arms around his body. The heady smell of sweat filled his lungs.
“Hello, husband,” Dean whispered in his ear. “I think it’s time to call it a night. Want to start our honeymoon?”
Drake was immediately on board. Arousal flooded his system like a drug. He didn’t think he would ever get enough of his husband. Sliding Dean off his lap, he stood. “Time to leave. I’ll have security bring the car around front. Say your goodbyes, but make it fast.”
Everyone gathered at the foyer to see them off. Holding hands, they waited as three Hawkeye Security personnel stepped in front to lead the way.
One minute they were walking, and the next, they were roughly shoved back inside.
Lincoln moved swiftly and positioned himself between them and the exit. He glanced at the boys with a piercing look. “Nobody hurt?” he asked coldly.
Drake was shocked by the transformation that had come over Lincoln. The man had a gun aimed at the doorway, an aura of danger radiating from him in waves. Drake couldn’t work out what had happened. He hadn’t seen or heard anything alarming.
Just beyond the doorway, a security guard had someone pinned to the ground. Chaos broke out around them. Brandon and Shane moved guests away from the altercation, while Jason, Lucas, Quinn, and Noah moved to assist the man with his captive.
Wrapping his arms around Dean’s body, he tried to calm his racing alarm. “You okay, love?”
Dean was too quiet. He was shaking, head tucked into Drake’s chest. “I’m not hurt. I thought he was in jail.”
Two of the guards moved apart, which gave Drake a clear view. Struggling in Jason and Noah’s tight grip was Jake. Lucas bent down and picked up a shiny object. Drake stared in horror at the large kitchen knife held between Lucas’s finger and thumb.
Dean made a mew of distress. Instinctively, Drake turned so Dean could reach his brother’s hand. Malcolm must have had the same thought because he turned, too. The coordinated movement placed the twins between them. Finally, Dean stopped shaking.
Lincoln approached them, his manner relaxed and calm. “Sweet boys, it’s okay to come out from the cocoon of your protectors. With all these gorgeous alpha men around—many who are in law enforcement, I might add—that nasty man didn’t stand a chance. Come on, sweet peas. Show us your beautiful faces.”
The musical tenor of Lincoln’s voice must have been reassuring, because Beau looked up. “Thank you, Linc.” He looked at the others around them. “Thanks, everyone.”
Police arrived and spoke to everyone. They hadn’t really seen anything, so they weren’t required to stay and give a statement. It turned out that Jake’s mother had bailed him out, believing it was all a misunderstanding. As the police led him away, he hurled insults at them.
Finally, they were given permission to leave. After another round of goodbyes, they climbed into the limo.
If Drake worried that the incident with Jake had spoiled the mood, he didn’t have to. Dean straddled his lap and pulled him in for a heat-filled kiss. Between kisses, he breathed, “Husband.”
Epilogue
Dean
“
Sit still. You’re almost done,” Dean admonished.
“Are you sure you’ve done this before?” Drake asked apprehensively.
Drake and Malcolm sat opposite each other, black capes covering their shoulders. When they had mentioned needing haircuts, the twins had jumped at the chance.
“We’ve been cutting hair for years. We even considered getting our licenses but decided it would never work. It’s not like we could open a salon. Would we have clients because we had skill or because people wanted to have their hair cut by the Xavier twins?” Dean said.
“Yeah, it’s not like we need the income. And just because we don’t have licenses doesn’t mean we didn’t do the training.”
Dean pulled Drake’s hair through his fingers, testing the length. He hadn’t lied. He had cut hair for family and friends for years. However, this was the first time he found himself getting so much pleasure from the action. He took every opportunity to rub his body against Drake’s as he moved around him.
Looking up, he caught Beau blowing hair off Malcolm’s neck. Malcolm closed his eyes in pleasure. Dean mimicked the move, enjoying the way Drake visibly shuddered.
“Are we almost done?” Drake groaned.
Dean loved the power he had over Drake. He had actually been finished for ten minutes but didn’t want to stop touching his husband. He had even trimmed his beard and applied a little beard oil.
“Yes, been done for a while,” he chuckled. “How about we jump in the shower together?”
Drake sprang from the chair. “You mean you’ve been tormenting me this whole time?”
Dean jumped back and dashed toward their wing of the house. “Yep. Catch me if you can,” he yelled over his shoulder.
Drake gave chase with a growl. They had almost made it to their room when the doorbell rang.
Dean gave Drake a playful swat on his bum. “Start the shower. I’ll get rid of whoever it is and come back and join you.”
He reached the door at the same time as Beau. They opened the door to reveal a courier, who held out two cream-colored envelopes. “Hello. I have a delivery for Beau and Dean Xavier.” He held out a clipboard for the twins to sign.
Closing the door, they made their way to the kitchen. Dean looked at his and Drake’s names written in gold calligraphy. He tore open the envelope to reveal a wedding invitation. “We’ve been invited to Linc’s wedding!” he said excitedly.
“Yeah, but who’s Ryan?” Beau asked.
Dean looked at the invite again. The invitation clearly stated Lincoln and Ryan. “I have no idea. Maybe we should give him a call.”
Beau shook his head. “Nah, Lincoln does things on his own time. He will introduce us when he’s ready. Besides, our husbands are waiting.”
As curious as Dean was, the thought of his wet husband was enough to have him hurrying back to his bathroom. There would be plenty of time to find out who Lincoln was marrying.
The outline of Drake’s body in the shower caused Dean’s heart to race. It had been a long road that brought them all together. He had grown so much over the years since meeting Drake. The only thing that hadn’t changed was his conviction that they were destined to be together.
Drake opened the door and gave him a heated look. “You going to stand there all day or join me?” Water dripped down his toned chest, the wet hair appearing darker.
“Coming, husband,” Dean said. He would never get tired of saying that word. Forgetting all about Lincoln, he joined Drake, savoring Drake’s hard body against his own. “My husband,” he whispered.
Beau and Dean had spoken often of the night they had met the Tallon brothers. While their thoughts of being owned by someone had changed over the years, to wanting to be loved for who are were, they knew that Malcolm and Drake were the only ones for them. They had never been happier.
Their days were still spent running the charity foundation, only now they had their husbands by their side, helping them. The twins also took an active role in Tallon & Tallon Enterprises. Rather than being owned, they were in an equal partnership. Dean never could have imagined how satisfying a balanced relationship could be.
Dropping to his knees, he reached eagerly for Drake’s cock. No matter how many times he did this, he always wanted more.
A hand cupped the back of his head. “That’s it, baby, you’re gonna make me come,” Drake moaned.
He sucked Drake in until his nose met the base, moaning as the salty taste of precum landed on his tongue.
He relaxed his throat, letting Drake plunge deeply into his mouth. Reaching for Drake’s thighs to steady himself, he realized it wouldn’t be long as the muscled legs trembled under his palms.
“Yes, fuck yes,” Drake moaned.
Dean swallowed, taking all that his husband gave him. Standing on unsteady feet, he reached for Drake, kissing him deeply.
Drake’s hand gripped Dean shaft, the larger hand stroking along the hard length. In no time, he shouted as his orgasm overwhelmed his body.
Their kisses grew less ardent as the water continued to fall on their bodies, and Dean was once more grateful for the large water heater.
“Love you so much,” Drake whispered.
“Love you, too, husband,” Dean responded.
