His Broken Princess
Page 19
My pregnancy was eventful, to say the least. From the morning sickness that lasted for the first five months to the constant appetite that knew no limits. Not to mention how I cried my eyes out at every movie out there. Eugene didn’t really know what to do with me besides play the piano for the babies, which always calmed them down when they decided to play football inside me.
I wouldn’t have had it any other way though.
“Hurry up and have your own kid so they can be best friends,” I say to Sorcha, and then add just to rile Emilio, “or a baby girl for one of my boys.”
“Over my dead body,” he replies, and Eugene frowns, giving his friend a death glare. “Why the hell are my sons not good enough for your daughter?”
“Because they will probably be cocky fuckers, and my daughter needs someone else.”
Eugene shakes his head, and then whispers in the baby’s ear for everyone to hear, and I giggle when Emilio’s eyes narrow. “Don’t listen to Uncle Emilio. If you ever want his daughter, just go for it, son. You have my blessing.”
Sorcha laughs and, with one last hug, joins her husband.
“Did you choose names?” Emilio wonders, wrapping his arm around her, and she kisses him gently on the cheek.
For all the horrible things we have experienced, and all the things Eugene still hides from me… life is bliss with such friends. He still sometimes comes home in the middle of the night after his hunting trips, and mostly he keeps me out of his business, and I never ask. I accept him with all his faults; I just pray his second identity will never disturb our beautiful life.
Eugene walks toward us and drops down next to me, bringing the babies closer to each other, and they open their eyes, watching us curiously. The nurse said that twins have special connections and can always feel one another, even if they’re separated. She even said one of them cried all the time during the night, so they placed the other one next to him, and he calmed down.
Ah, my older one already taking care of his baby brother.
I pray my boys will never have to experience pain or heartache, because they will be raised with so much love… so much care… because after their father, they are the most precious things in this world to me.
My man trails his fingers over our babies and finally says the names we picked for them out loud. “Damian and Dominic Harrison.”
And for a moment in time, my life is nothing but endless happiness.
For a moment in time.
