“Wow, I didn’t even hear him come in this morning. Time to get ready, oh these have Enox’s scent on them! Fuck that dragon smells so damn good!” I say out loud. Don’t judge talking to yourself is not a sign your crazy! Besides, you get the best answers that way. Go to the ensuite, I get in the shower and turn it on hot. Didn’t realize how sore my body would be from last night’s dream walking and mating with Enox, until the hot water hit, and my body relaxed.
“Tenelle, I am feeling good. I will be able to fly us back to Mont Tremblant. If we leave by 9, we can make it there by 4. Maybe Daxton will be nice and portal us there. I want to see Enox as soon as possible!” Snow tells me.
“Oh, do we have a horny little owl on our hands?” I ask teasingly, just to get a puffed-up owl picture flash in my head. “No worries, I’ll see what we can do, and I’ll get you to Enox.” I tell her and she sends me a picture of an emoji happy face and kissy lips. Oh boy!
Once I was out of the shower and dressed, I went down to the dining hall. Just in time to both get a hot breakfast and for Daxton to show up. There was a young witch with him also, I felt a little on edge seeing them together, but didn’t try to figure it out. He is here to talk and that is it.
I notice that Daxton looks like Mitchel in feature, the difference is hair color. One has white hair and the other has dark blue. Seems kind of odd, maybe they are family, will have to ask about it later.
“Daxton, this is Tenelle Andrews. Tenelle this is Daxton McGill.” The young woman introduced; I am assuming this is Nelly.
“Oh wow, you’re extremely beautiful! I love your hair!” Daxton says causing me to blush, I feel the pull towards him, but it’s not as strong as it was to Enox. Something seems off with him as well, like he’s missing something.
“Daxton, Tenelle’s a Bird of Prey. She’s a Great White Snowy Owl.” Nelly says.
“Thank you and it’s nice to meet you Mr. McGill. I was told to talk to you about Trin and his two companions from yesterday.” I say offering my hand.
“Huh? Oh, yea right, sorry umm just Daxton is fine. Yes, Trin and Mitchel were the dragon and wizard from yesterday’s attack. From what I have been able to gather. He knew you were his mate, I guess Mitchel found you back in August. He was depressed, I know Mary-Anne said he figured you weren’t 18 yet and that’s why you didn’t feel the pull. It was Trin’s idea to reject you, said you wouldn’t want to help them gain the powers of the Celestial map. Do you still have the pin you bought from the coffee shop?” Daxton says. How does he know all this? Especially how Trin was able to get him to reject me? Mary-Anne wouldn’t have told anyone about Trin wanting to become more powerful.
“Yes, it’s right here.” I say bringing my satchel out of thin air again. Lox and Vera got all their mail out of it. Thank god, it was getting heavy. I hand over it over with the pin facing Daxton.
“There you are you little shit!” Daxton says with a sudden pop. The pin comes flying off my satchel and it turns into a large ladybug! What the hell?
“What the fuck is that?” Both Nelly and I ask at the same time.
“It’s Mary-Anne’s little minion and now it’s a dead minion!” Daxton says as purple energy literally explodes the oversized bug. That wasn’t Mary-Anne’s minion, she’s human. It was the tracer; I will have to check on Hayden again. Forget it, I will have him safe first out of their hands and just bring him complete out. I need to talk to Hecate!
“Why would Mary-Anne, have her minion follow me? I am not important to her.” I say looking between Nelly and Daxton.
“Mary-Anne knew you were Mitchel’s mate. But if he claimed you, she wouldn’t have control over them anymore. The attack yesterday was to get rid of you, but she didn’t realize that you were already found one of your mates, who also happens to be a Celestial Dragon. That fucked things for her, also you knocked Mitchel out when you absorbed his spell, that really fucked things up for her.” Nelly says. I realize I saw Nelly yesterday; she was casting too but wasn’t quick enough. The spell wasn’t aimed at me, it was because Mitchel needed to release his emotions. He was trying to keep from going dark. Something’s wrong here.
“Mary-Anne use to be in Nelly and I’s coven. She was kicked out when she started looking for the Celestial map. When the Leader kicked her out, it weakened her. Truthfully, you have more magic than her at full strength. It weakened even more when she rejected me. I was her mate, but I chose to stay loyal to the coven and the goddess.” Daxton says, the hurt in his eyes is there but not as strong as I would think. Mary-Anne must have had Hayden before, I need to talk to Hayden, there must be another link to Mary-Anne.
“Wow, the Fates and the Gods must be pissed with all this rejection going on. I have never heard of this many happening so close together. I will have to talk to Hecate, she needs to know about this now.” I say and pull out my phone. I dial Tania’s number right away.
“Hey, my favorite owl child, what in Hades name are you calling me this early for? Even Hades knows to let me sleep!” Tania says with a yawn.
“Good Morning goddess. I am calling because I am here talking with Daxton McGill, one of your children. His mate was that little bitch from yesterday’s attack. She rejected him and placed a tracker on me, it was a pin I bought she was using.” I say only to hear a large growl. I look up and Tank’s standing in front of me. “Aunt Tania why is Tank standing in front of me? Did I do something wrong?” I ask.
“Oh no sweetheart. Tank’s there because there’s a soul to collect and the usual Hellhound is currently making puppies with Talisa. They have been going at it for weeks now and she’s still in heat. From the last count she’s pregnant with 23 pups. The males are taking full advantage of this extremely long breeding cycle.” Tania says.
“Ouch!” Both Nelly and I say looking at each other wide eyed.
“Oh no, Hades will take some of the pups and use the punished souls to birth them. It will help the pups learn soul scenting.” Tania says like it’s an everyday kind of thing. “Anyways, Daxton who and when did your mate reject you?”
“Mary-Anne Horton’s her name. She rejected me because I wouldn’t leave my coven to help her with finding the Celestial Map. It was about 8 months ago. Your niece is extremely beautiful Ma’am.” Daxton says continuing to stare at me, with a soft smile.
“Hecate, Mary-Anne’s stealing magic, she’s human. There’s something else wrong, both Mitchel and Daxton seem to be missing something. Like their magic is incomplete.” I mind link her in between the conversation.
“Oh really? Tenelle place your hand palm up in Daxton’s please…” Tania says, “Tank tap into his magic, what do you see?”
“Her aura just got a whole fucking lot brighter! The white is almost blinding, the purple is stronger but not as strong as it should be, the midnight blue is the strongest. I think we found another one of her mates, from the looks of things.” Tank says giving me his shark toothed grin.
“Well, that’s good news then. Tenelle has Everett talked to you yet?” Tania asks, I am surprised she hasn’t brough up grandchildren yet. Nimara said it was the first thing Tania talked about as soon as she started finding her mates.
“No not yet, has he found something?” I ask, blushing at the smile Daxton’s giving me.
“Yes and no, you were dream walking last night, weren’t you? Enox mentioned it to Everett, he said you two completed the mating bond. Good, that makes things easier for us and harder for those shit for brains. Especially that stupid dragon Trin. He will start to lose his strength, with you having your dragon mate claimed. He can’t trace you then with his dragon side, it’s why Mary-Anne was tracking you. Then Mitchel would keep their source of power, you and they could track you easily! Keep claiming your mates as you find them, that will take all their strength away. Alright, I need to get moving since you woke me up at an ass crack quarter to 6.” Tania says causing both Tank and I to snicker.
“Bye Aunt Tania,
see you soon.” I say before hanging up the phone. Tank nods at me and fades out too.
“Tenelle, I will look at Mitchel and Daxton. I have felt a rift in the powers. Someone is doing more than just stealing it. Be careful child, we cannot afford to lose you as well.” Tania mind links me.
“I will Aunt Tania, I helped the wizard create a block I will check on him and see what else I can get.” I link back.
“Call me as soon as you have something!” Tania says and cuts our link. She sounds worried and angry. Something’s very wrong if she can feel the ripple in the magic. I get my breakfast, while I eat, Daxton and Nelly continue to talk. I am hoping I can find out as much as possible.
“So, did you know Mary-Anne’s human and not a magic caster?” I say looking at Daxton.
“What do you mean? She has always had magic.” Daxton says looking upset.
“No, she hasn’t. She’s stealing it from a little boy named Hayden. I know because I have seen it with my own eyes. I spoke to him last night when I went looking for information.” I say. Just as I take a sip of my juice, my little Shadow Bright friend comes with more news, she shifts so that she won’t get squished.
“Tenelle, I found out how she’s absorbing the magic. She has a tub filled with this liquid, it’s a blue color and when she puts the boys magic in it, it glows and then she drinks it.” Jade tells me.
“She’s using transition. I wonder how she learned to make it or where she stole it from?” I say thinking out loud. Nelly and Daxton have a look of fear.
“I saw the jug she pours it out of, the label had a Cliff emblem on it. I couldn’t see the name though. I can say Mary-Anne’s pissed that she can’t get more magic from her little brother.” Jade says.
“He’s her brother? What the fuck? That’s as bad as Tim was with Nimara!” I say looking at Jade. “Thanks Jade don’t go back and keep all others away from that dragon’s den. Since he’s now blocked against everything, I am going to send some other friends. They like playing with people who hurt children.” The look Jade gives me is one I know all too well. She’s afraid, just like those who have seen the work of a Shadow walker.
“Shit, your sending Shadow walkers, aren’t you? Ok I have already linked everyone to clear out for a good 10 km. We’re ready when you are for us to go back in.” Jade says going from this beautiful aqua green color to white.
“Thanks again Jade, I’ll let you know when it’s safe.” I say and the little Shadow Bright leaves. “You better start talking Mr. McGill and Nelly, or I will inform Hecate!” I say looking at both and I can feel my yellow eyes glowing.
“I know her mom and step-dad had a little boy after they got together. They are both magic casters. I am guessing Mary-Anne took after her birth father and is human. We will need to talk to Matthew! He needs to know someone’s stealing or selling transition, especially with Mary-Anne using it against one of their members.” Daxton says with a lot of fear in his eyes.
“Which coven are we talking about? I know all of them and none of them have a leader by the name Matthew. Unless it’s one of the new ones recently formed.” I say looking at Daxton and notice Nelly snickering. She looks at me and mouths the name Scarlet. Oh, so that’s who his coven leader is, this is going to be fun. I hear a gasp and look to others in the room, they are all looking at me. I turn to see this very demonic looking, 6-foot-tall gremlin smiling at me.
“Hey Zed, you got the message I see” I say turning to face the Shadow walker. “Please excuse us for a moment.” Zed and I walk out of the dining hall to a sitting room.
“Yes, my sister Jade said you needed me. She was scared, never understood why she’s afraid of me. Anyway what can I do for you?” Zed says with a smile that sends shivers down my spine.
“I need you and the boys to go play with a human and dragon, that are stealing a young wizards magic and trying to find a Celestial Map. Think you and the boys can help?” I say raising an eyebrow. They enjoy their work, sometimes a little too much. It took me months to get this fucker out of my dreams when I hit puberty.
“Sounds like a good time to me. With pleasure, do we get to have some kinky fun too?” Zed says smiling, I already know what he’s thinking.
“Tell you what, knock these fuckers off their game and the human who happens to be a chick, is all yours to play with. I’ll make sure to knock her ass out for a few days. If the girls want, they can have the bronze dragon, he’s fair game too. The ones you can’t touch are already marked. I was with them last night.” I tell him and his smile grows, sending another shiver down my spine.
“Beautiful, I love when you let us play! Thank you, goddess!” Zed whispers in my ear and give me a kiss on my neck, causing my core to heat up. Zed leaves just as fast as he showed up. I know they can get into Trin’s den, and they didn’t place any magic to ward them off. So, I hope Zed let’s all of them know, and the horny fucker can leave me alone. It’s not a good thing when they know how to arouse someone, then they never leave. I return to the dining hall and everyone watches me, like they expect a fairy to pop out of my ass.
“Now, where were we? Oh, right your coven. I think it’s best we go talk to them. This isn’t something to discuss over the phone. I would like to talk to your leader in private too, they have information on another matter that I am dealing with. Might as well kill 2 chickadees with one stone.” I say causing Daxton to choke on his coffee. He looks almost shocked that I would use that saying. “What? They are annoying little fuckers!” Nelly laughs knowing I am just getting him going. I would never do anything like that to other animals, but playing Daxton is too hard to resist. I pick up our dishes and take them to the kitchen staff. I notice one of them is watching closely over Daxton and Nelly.
“Is she your mate?” I ask the young male and he just looks at me with sad eyes.
“Yes, I know she knows but I am worried that she will reject me, because I don’t have wings. She thinks the fliers are graceful and beautiful, I have never heard her say anything about us grounders.” He says and the hurt seems to grow.
“NELLY!” I roars catching the young witch off guard. Both her and Daxton get up… “JUST Nelly please!” Daxton sits back down with a questioning look.
“Y-yes Tenelle?” Nelly asks when coming over nervously and keeps her head down.
“One, look at people when you speak to them. Two, do not make the same mistake Mitchel did. He has so much hurt and pain from listening to his friends and rejecting me. All he wants is to be with me and now he can’t, so don’t fuck this up! You two are made to balance each other, her flaws are your strengths, your flaws are her strengths. Recognize that! I will leave you two, I will let Lox and Vera know. If you do not wear each other’s mark by Christmas, I will personally kick both your asses!” I look at the grounder and then to Nelly. I push her in front of him and walk away. I soon hear a growl of lust and smirk knowing they are going to be simply fine.
“Wow, that’s interesting.” Daxton says still watching where I just left Nelly.
“What is?” I ask turning back and seeing Nelly bent over a table, the grounder fucking her hard and clamped down on her shoulder. “Damn they took care of that quick!” I say laughing. Daxton just shakes his head and laughs too.
“Ready to go?” He asks and just looks at me with a soft smile.
“Yea we better. Bye Nelly, I expect fledglings soon!” I yell and Nelly is way too busy getting her brains fucked out to care, so she just waves.
Chapter 4
~ Tenelle ~
I spoke to Enox before Daxton and I left. I stop to check in with Vera and Lox before as well, asking if there was anything they wanted or needed to send back with me. Lox went a little red and sheepish when Vera said they emailed it back already. I raised my eyebrow at him and gave him a playful glare. Vera laughed saying “I told you so.” I let them know about Nelly and one of the grounders being mates, Vera laughed. She told me about what she and Lox walked into in the dining room a few minutes ago. I said thank you
for their hospitality and I would see them soon. We went to Limestone Cliff coven first, guess Daxton is in for a shock about his coven leader.
“So, I have to let my leader know that I will be moving to Ontario with you. He will want to put someone in charge of my territory.” Daxton says, as we are told to come in from behind a large office door. Guess he doesn’t know that his leader is a woman, and she uses her mate as a ruse.
“Ah Daxton what do I owe this pleasure? Tenelle, good to see you! Although I wasn’t expecting anything. How is Chanti? She said you stayed in a dragon’s den when coming to Dartmouth. She is not happy about it.” Matthew says from behind a glass desk. They have modernized the furniture, and painted, it looks good.
“I knew that little fuzzy ass looked familiar! You can let her know that the dragon she was mouthing off too, is my mate and he would never hurt me. So Scarlet, still letting Matthew pretend to be the big cheese?” I say looking from Matthew to the true Leader of Limestone Cliff coven.
“Hush you little feathered devil! Oh, I will get you!” Scarlet says as she starts to laugh seeing Daxton’s face. “Mom told me about what was going on. Daxton, your stuff is already at the Great Theater of the Gods in Silver Shadow territory. Your other two mates are closer to Enox’s location, they know you were going to head back there. Seems a lot of people have been keeping an eye on you little one. I said hi to your mom too Tenelle, she is so happy to hear the Theater is going to have life in it again.” Scarlet finishes just as Daxton finds his tongue.
“Ok I am so confused here. Huh?” Daxton says with this really mixed up look on his face and plunks his butt on a couch.
“Daxton, Scarlet is the true leader of Limestone Cliff coven. She’s originally from Kingston Ontario. Her dad’s coven is out there. Scarlet came here to help balance out the powers. Don’t you think it is kind of funny to have a demon as your coven leader?” I ask looking at him with a sympathetic smile that he had no clue.
