  “Holy shit! My mom and Merlin were there! Merlin had to do a spell to transfer the embryo from your mom to a Gorgon. That’s why your egg was different, your mom had passed but somehow you didn’t.” Kai says with his eye huge.

  “So I guess we need to talk to Elder Merlin and your mom then.” Nimara says with hope. Nimara’s eye go white for a brief second while she mind-links someone. “Ok, Queen Nyssa’s on her way, sorry in advance, she was watching the girls. So they will be here too, and Tania’s getting a hold of Elder Merlin…” She’s cut off by a fizzling sound as a portal opens and Merlin walks into the office. Shortly after the office door flies open with small growls and flapping wings.

  “Well the girls have arrived!” Scott says shaking his head and bending down to pick up Talisa. Jessica comes straight for my lap but stops midair when she sees my baby bump.

  “Onyx can you hand me Jessica in her human form please.” I ask. Jessica screeches in excitement and shifts in the air, scaring the shit out of Scott. Thank the gods for Link and his quick reflexes because he had her before she even dropped from chest level. Scott curses both Kai and Jessica for their lack of fear. Honestly though, she totally gets that from her mom.

  “Well hello everyone! How are the new goddesses doing?” Merlin says looking from Nimara to me. His eyes grow in excitement when he sees my current state. “Ohh we have more little ones on the way! Perfect!” His excitement seems to know no limits as Echo comes into his line of sight.

  “Elder Merlin, this is Echo. She was in the last of the isolation dens from the Grava outbreak. Her file was stole from Elder Nattie when she was killed in the car accident. Could you by chance give us any information? Kai said that both you and his mom attended her mother.” Nimara says and Queen Nyssa gasps.

  “You’re the young gargoyle Nattie wanted to talk to me about. Oh my dear child, I’m so sorry for not coming to find you! We didn’t know where Nattie had you, she and I had been secretly talking because she said you were special and needed to be hidden. I am so sorry!” Queen Nyssa says with tears streaming down her face. Echo turns to embrace the former Queen.

  “It’s ok, I know Nattie took me when I was three years old and placed me in her mate’s treasure den. Then I was moved back to the isolation den when I was ten. Said it was to keep me protected and safe. When she left to get me cleared but didn’t come back I didn’t understand, but I remembered that she said not to leave the den to keep myself safe. Why was she hiding me? What did my family do that I would need protecting?” Echo asks looking sad at the loss of the lady she was raised by.

  “I can answer that. You were special because you lived, even after your mother had passed. She had actually been dead for about 15 hours, when we realized you were still alive. I transferred you immediately, it’s a dangerous undertaking and could result in death. You fought and thrived in Melony, until she laid her clutch. Then when everyone hatched out, we know which egg you were in, making it easier for us to keep you safe.” Merlin said with admiration. “As to your family, I don’t know. The fact that you continued to live, even after death in itself means you are blessed by the gods and would be the biggest reason for someone to use you against them.” He finishes.

  “Well that answers my next question then.” Nimara says giving Echo a smile. She knows and is up to something, sneaky little lycan.

  “Nimara, we should have Scarlett and Matthew train her, and have Hecate pop in to check on her. I imagine she will want to go back to her home until everything is sorted. With having a demon and witch train her along with her regular training from her clan, gives her an advantage. She will be well protected.” I suggest to which Nimara agrees.

  “That’s a good idea Tenelle, and whoever was or is looking for her isn’t going to think of checking the new clans. They would think she left with Queen Emily.” Merlin says.

  “Then it’s settled, Echo will go back to Dartmouth and start training right away. I think we should visit also Tenelle to help, after you have the fledglings that is. Damn girl you need to pop soon. You can use your baby bump as an eating tray!” Nimara says laughing. She isn’t wrong, as it is right now I have a lycan pup and a gargoyle fledgling draped over it sleeping. Jessica didn’t stay in her human form for long.

  “Are you sure I would be safer with the Royal clans? I don’t want to put anyone in danger. I mean it’s just me.” Echo says looking flustered that we’re doing so much to keep her safe.

  “Echo, you’re one of us, and we always take care of our family. Besides Nimara is the Goddess Gaia. What she says goes, at least with me anyways. I don’t want to be turned into a pair of leather pants.” Vera says laughing when Echo gives her a horrid look. We talk for a little longer and then Merlin portals the girls back home. He goes with them to place counters and wards on the territory to help keep Echo safe. I just hope we can find this threat and destroy it before it even gets close to Echo.

  Epilogue

  Somewhere in Ireland …

  My phone starts ringing, and I see that it’s an incoming video call from Greg and Blake. I hit the answer button and look at my screen.

  “Hey Brett, just checking in and giving you a progress report.” Greg says, I hear Blake growl and then there is crying.

  “What is going on? Did you find her yet?” I ask, if these two have screwed up like dad’s little hench men did seven years ago. I will kill them myself and go looking for the girl.

  “We found out that her clan has moved to Ontario. Queen Nyssa has stepped down and now her daughter is ruler. Queen Emily moved the six clans with her when her father tried to kill her and her mother. If she is anywhere it would be with them…” Greg says, and I hear a scream in the background.

  “What the fuck is Blake doing? Who the hell do you have with you?” I snarl at him. Even with being nine hours away, he is still visibly shaken.

  “A rogue hunter sir. She was trying to double cross us. Your Hunter friend here is dead sir. Was killed in a raid. It seems with the new treaty, any who go against the new laws put in place by the gods is arrested. If they resist or fight, it’s an automatic shoot to kill order then. They are taking no chances with the new peace that has been made.” Greg says as I hear another scream, and then information I never wanted to hear.

  “You’re too late Dante! She is with her cousins as we speak, and both Gaia and Nyx know who she is! You are pissing off the wrong goddesses, especially now that it is the first of the seven children you will have to deal with!” The girl says, then Blake back hands her.

  “What does she mean the first of the seven children? Blake leave her to talk now!” I command and see Blake’s fist stop mid strike.

  “Nimara of the Silver Shadow Blood is the Goddess of Creation, Mother Earth herself reborn. The goddess Gaia, she has bonded to her lycan and has ascended already. Piss her off I dare you, you weak pathetic excuse for a Vampire! Your nothing more than a fucking leech!” The girl starts to laugh when she sees Blake go white. “Oh now you’re thinking, but I haven’t told you the best part…” She trails off to spit a mouth full of blood at Greg’s feet.

  “And what would that be?” I hope she doesn’t say what I think is going to say.

  "A Messenger of the Gods turned out to be none other than Hermes’ daughter, and she has ascended to take her place as the true goddess of Night. The Goddess Nyx, and she too has bonded to her owl, along with all the other Solar Celestial bloodline…” She doesn’t get to finish.

  “Fuck!” I curse and throw my glass across the room, shattering it against the solid oak door.

  “What’s wrong Dante, your little crush no longer attainable? To bad for you, Echo is now with them. Oh and the Goddess Hecate is with her too, seems to me she is still earthbound. Oh and one more thing…” She stops again and smirks.

  “Kill her, we have enough information, now we need to regroup and plan. I will be on the first flight out tomorrow.” I tell Greg, and he nods in response. Then I hear a snap and see the female hunter go limp,
Blake snapped her neck.

  “Sir do you need …” Greg is cutoff by a ping sound and Blake picks up the hunters phone. Hitting the play button a message comes on.

  “You really should have kept me alive you stupid fucks! Now everything you have has been sent to Nimara and Tenelle to keep Echo out of your hands. Really I would have thought being a 300 year old vampire you would have been smarter. Oh well, enjoy what’s left of your life! May your souls burn in the Hell fires for all eternity!” The video goes silent and both Greg and Blake blanch at the thought.

  “Fuck what was her activity like for the last 3 weeks? She could have sent them the information at any time.” I ask starting to see red. This is not how I wanted this to go.

  “We caught her betraying us about a month ago. We have had her here ever since, continuing to search and beating her daily to get information from her about who she has spoken too, and what she has told them about us.” Blake says looking to Greg.

  “Wait, she hasn’t done her check ins with her handler has she? We have been doing it for her. Shit they got the information directly from us!” Greg says and immediately runs over to his computer. I watch as I see him start typing and then the look of worry is gone as he sees what is on the screen.

  “Well is all our files and information safe?” I ask trying not to get angry, but my vision is already gone red so I will need to feed to get it back under control.

  “It is all here sir. Everything is fine.” Greg says. Blake coming up behind him and from the look on his face everything is not fine.

  “Greg what is that at the bottom of your screen?” Blake asks. Then there is another ping sound and Siri says “File Transfer complete”

  “What file transfer?” I fume and the table goes flying.

  “Sir, our entire data base has been sent to Silver Shadow Blood clan and the Council. With a built in security to keep it protected from viruses and hacks. From the looks of it, once the file is opened it will safeguard the recipients system also.” Greg says looking almost like a ghost.

  “Fuck! Get your asses to the main house, leave your computer there and torch all the evidence. Leave no trace. Move your asses now!” I scream before hanging up. “Malcom!”

  “Yes sir?” Malcom says taking in the state of my study.

  “Bring a live fresh woman. I need to feed and tonight nothing except tearing apart a defenseless whore is going to do!” I seethe as my vision is now completely red and my fangs have elongated.

  “Yes sir, I know just the one.” Malcom says walking over to the service phone, seconds later he mumbles something and then hangs up. I am starting to frenzy as I have gone past the point of blood thirst. If I don’t get blood soon, I will go on a killing spree and these days it’s harder to hide from the human world for that to happen. There is another knock on the door, and it opens to show a young woman in her late teens. She has been stripped of her clothes and stands just in her underwear.

  “Would you like me to have her taken to your room sir or would you like your private den?” Malcom asks, ready to keep me pleased.

  “My private den is fine, and I will take her myself.” I answer him. He bows in return and leaves the young woman standing and shaking in place.

  “What do you want from me? Stay away from me you monster!” She screams as I walk over and grab her roughly by the arm.

  “You have no idea little one, now do as your told and come with me.” I say pulling her to the hidden panel and opening to my private chambers. I throw the girl to the bed and waste little time.
