A hand lifted her hair, dropped it again. "There's just one problem. I love you so much I don't think I can head away overseas and leave you for months at a time. So I'll quit my crazy, selfish goal of winning four more Olympic gold medals–"

Her fist jabbed him in the stomach. "Don't you ever give up your dream because of me! Not ever!"

"But how can I carry on when it'll guarantee we'll be apart for so long every year?"

"Because I'll follow you to every World Cup, every World Champs and every Olympics until you achieve that long-term goal."

  "You would? You will?"

"Don't you see? It's part of who you are, and that's the man I love. I wouldn't change—"

  "What about your career?"

"I can write wherever I am. All I need is a keyboard, some local facts and a bit of inspiration."

"Bailey. Oh, Bailey." His Adam's apple bobbed. "What support. What absolute sacrifice. Why did I ever doubt you'd give so much? The thing is, though, having your physical presence at future regattas won't be necessary. Knowing I have your support will be enough." Again, his fingers slid over her cheeks in a soft caress. "You're so beautiful, on the inside as well as out. So why don't I show you just how much I love you?"

She cocked her head on one side. "Is that any way to invite yourself into my bed?"

"Honey, I have no intention of sharing yours. The things I intend doing there, I need a lot more room." He kissed her then; a long, sensuous kiss that weakened her knees and lit a fire in her belly.

When he stopped, it was to scoop her up and carry her down the hall where he laid her on the big bed. "This time," he promised, "we're not just going to have sex. We're going to make loove."
