Without any further chit chat, something I loved about this woman, she lowered herself down onto her knees and pulled my zipper down before reaching inside and pulling my dick out. She gave it a few strong strokes and it automatically doubled in size, eager to let loose its load down her throat.

Sliding my dick into her mouth, she started to take me deeper and deeper with each pass. Hearing her gag reflexes kick in when I grabbed her head and began fucking her face got me even harder than I already was. “Oh shit… oh fuck ya baby. Take that fat cock of mine all the way into that throat of yours. “God damn!” As she worked me over, I got closer to my release. “Oh yeah… oh shit yeah. Fuck! I’m goin՛ to… I’m goin՛ to come,” I growled out just as my phone started ringing. Ignoring it, I continued to push her mouth down over my cock until I felt that tingle in my spine work its way to my dick and I came hard in her mouth. “God fuckin՛ hell! Shit!” After she sucked me dry, I released my grip on her head. “Thanks Suga՛. Now get on out of here and clean yourself up,” I said, slapping her on the ass as she giggled and turned to walk away with that same sway in her hips.

My phone ringing again had me reaching for it this time. Especially when I noticed that it was Worm calling. “What have you got for me?” I asked him, tucking myself back into my pants.

“Well unfortunately it’s not much, but this is what I could find out so far. Both parents are deceased, as a matter of fact, I think you’ll recognize their last name, it’s Lancaster.”

“You have to be fuckin՛ with me right now?”

  “Afraid not man.”

“What a small world we have here. What else?”

“The last guy she dated, basically the only guy she’s ever dated, was a Robert Owens. He apparently fucked her over pretty bad, so she wouldn’t give two shits about that assholes life if it was in danger. Anyway, all her friends that I spoke to said that she just fell off the grid after her parents died, and anyone that tried to reach out to her was met with a fuck off. As for where she lives. She has an apartment on Maple Drive #2131, second floor. Her parents had a home, but it seems as if it’s bein՛ put on the market for sale. For work, we obviously know the bitch works at her parents’ place of business, the Countryside Diner. From what I’ve seen in the past two and a half weeks, she’s got a couple of girls she talks to at work but seems to be a loner for the most part when she’s not there. As for any contact between her and Maverick, there’s been none. So I’m thinkin՛ he must have just been helpin՛ her with her car that day we saw them together.”

“Fuckin՛ Maverick, always the do-gooder. Anythin՛ else? Who owns her parents’ diner now? Her?”

“That’s the only thing I couldn’t find out. The records show that it’s been sold, but the new owner’s name still isn’t listed as of yet. It only shows that it’s pending.”

“Ok, keep me informed if you find anythin՛ else out on her.”

  “Will do. Hey, Skull?”

  “What?”

“If we’re not goin՛ to use this bitch against Maverick, don’t you think I’ve earned the right to have her as my new play toy?”

Chuckling at his question, I couldn’t help imaging the bitch bouncing up and down on my own dick. “I think as long as you share that cunt of hers with me, we can probably come to some sort of agreement on that.”

“Well, shit, of course I will. Hell, you can even have the first taste of that sweet pussy of hers.”

“As I should. I’ll get back to you on that, later Worm.” Ending the call, the thought of Harper Lancaster being at my mercy was quickly becoming more and more of a beautiful picture. I mean after all her parents did still owe me. Even if they weren’t alive to pay me.

  She was.

  Harper

Sitting in the back office on my computer, I was in search of a new supplier for our meat products, since I just found out today the company my parents always used was going belly up. Scrolling through the different companies, I suddenly heard raised voices and then a loud knock on my door. “Come in!” I yelled out.

When the door opened, the bickering between Ava and someone that I couldn’t quite see yet continued. “I told you I would let you know if she was available to talk to you. That does not mean follow me back here and just barge in asshole!”

  “And I told you, she’s expectin՛ me.”

  Maverick.

He finally came into view when Ava threw up her arm to block him from entering my office. “Ava, it’s ok, really. Let him in.”

Giving me a look of surprise and concern, she asked. “Are you sure?”

“Really, it’s fine. He’s right, I was expecting him.”

“Do you need me to stay in here with you that way you’re not alone with him.” With her arms now crossed over her chest, she raked her eyes over Maverick with a glare of irritation. But, if I wasn’t mistaken, I believe I saw a little appreciation for the way he looked flash across her face as well.

“Thanks Ava, that will be all now. We’ve got it from here,” Maverick snapped at her as he walked passed and turned around to face her before he literally shut the door in her protesting face. Turning around to look at me, he smirked. “Your friend Ava seems like a lovely individual.”

“I heard that asshole!” She yelled through the door, causing me to giggle.

“See what I mean?” Standing there, Maverick just stared at me for a moment before gesturing to the chair next to him. “Mind if I have a seat?”

Getting up, I tried to get out a coherent sentence, but it seemed as if all my words got tangled up together on their way out of my mouth. “Oh… I’m… crap… that was… I’m sorry… so rude.” Shutting my babbling lips, I took a much-needed calming breath. God this man made me so nervous. “Yes. Please. Sit down. Can I get you anything to drink?”

Chucking at my complete and utter fail at acting normal around him, he answered. “I’m fine. Why don’t you sit down so we can talk.”

“Ok,” I simply replied, doing as he’d asked me to and sat back down in the seat behind my desk.

Looking me over, he seemed to be thinking. “So, here’s what I’m goin՛ to do for you. I have two prospects that will switch off on days, that way you will always have someone watchin՛ over you. They’ll keep an eye out for any of Skulls men lurkin՛ around tryin՛ to cause any trouble.”

“That’s… I mean, you don’t have to go through all that trouble. Like I tried to tell you on the phone the other night, I think it was just their way of trying to scare me.”

“Well, you called me, so I’m thinkin՛ it worked.” He wasn’t wrong. I don’t think I had slept more than two hours the last two nights. Every noise I heard had me fearing it was one of them coming to make good on their threat.

“Look, the Slayers don’t make empty threats Harper. They are as bad as they come. Not only do these guys deal in drugs and guns, but they’ve been known to dabble in human traffickin՛ as well.”

Shocked by the last part of what he’s said, I felt a streak of panic surge through me. “Wow, um ok. I had no idea they sold… that they sold people… that’s just—.”

“It’s fucked up is what it is Sweetheart.” Getting up out of his chair, he moved around to my side of the desk, causing my eyes to stay glued to him until he leaned on the edge of it, towering over me. Reaching out, he took a lock of my hair between his fingers again as he held my eyes prisoner. “I wouldn’t want to see somethin՛ like that happen to you. You seem like a good woman.”

When I attempted to take a breath, it was almost jagged. “Thank you.”

Chucking briefly, his fingers released my hair and brushed down the side of my cheek before finding their way under my chin, pulling my face up to his, he leaned down closer. His lips now hovering dangerously close to mine. “You’re welcome.” At that moment it seemed as if everything around us just fell away, leaving only our heavy breaths in the silence that moved in.

“Um, I’m sorry, I guess you
didn’t hear me knocking.” Ava interrupted, causing me to jerk my chin out of Maverick’s hold when I became flustered about being caught up in the moment.

“I-I’m sorry, what was it you needed, Ava?” I asked, clearing my throat and trying like hell to seem as though there wasn’t just something going on between myself and Maverick. Or maybe that’s just my own perception of what was happening seeing as how he was just so calm, cool, and collected right now like nothing did happen.

There was something happening between us, right? I thought to myself.

“I was just going to let you know that I was heading out to give Maggie a ride home again. Her brother isn’t able to pick her up today.” Looking back and forth between Maverick and I, she got a look on her face that was something close to a cautious smirk. “Will you be ok here by yourself until I get back?” Her stare immediately found Maverick.

  “I’ll be fine Ava.”

  “Ok, I’ll be right back.”

When she turned to walk out the door, Maverick looked her way with a smirk. “Great meetin՛ you Ava.”

Looking back over her shoulder, she mumbled. “Mm hmm,” then closed the door behind her, leaving just the two of us alone once again.

  ***

After Ava got back from taking Maggie home, Maverick all but demanded that I take him to my apartment, that way he could see where I lived and how safe it was.

So, now here I sat with three very large bikers in my, what now seemed, very small apartment. Talk about life taking a total 180.

“From what I saw, the back entrance to this place would be a snap to bypass and get in. The lock they have on it wouldn’t hold a child from breakin՛ into the place.” The guy named Roman said to Maverick and Axle.

“That’s just fuckin՛ great. Want me to go have a word with the manager?” Axle asked.

“I think we might have to.” Maverick answered.

Now mind you none of this conversation or these questions were directed at me, you know the person who actually lived here! No, instead they were all directed at Maverick. Having had enough of this whole being excluded from the decisions being made about my life, I finally found my voice. “Is anyone interested in what I think at all, being that I’m the one who actually resides here?” I raised my hands in the air.

All at once, three pairs of eyes landed on me. “Give us a minute.” Maverick told Roman and Axle.

After both of them walked into the kitchen, he took a seat next to me on the couch. “I know this all seems like I’m just comin՛ in and takin՛ over your life here, but you did call me for help, remember?”

  “I know, but I guess… I didn’t think I would be just—.”

  “Just what?”

“Left out of all the decisions being made about my life.” Was what I had actually said to him, but what I was thinking was a whole different story. I really wanted to say that I didn’t think I would be just a job or an obligation to him.

Yep, I guess it was all in my head. Absolutely nothing going on here between the two of us as far as he was concerned. I’m so stupid! I’ll just never learn. I’m never going to be the type of woman a man like him wants. Am I ever going to be enough to be any man’s type?

But seriously, I should be thankful about that instead of sitting here pouting like a big butt hurt baby about it, right? I mean our lifestyles were like night and day. Oil and water. Good and evil. Well, maybe not that last one totally since I knew just how good Maverick had been to me so far, when he hadn’t had any real reason to be.

“Harper look at me,” Maverick cut in, halting my thoughts as he reached out to pull my chin towards him. “I know firsthand what these guys are capable of and how they will go about tryin՛ to get to you. And I know you feel like we’re takin՛ over your ability to make decisions about your own life right now, but you’re wrong about that. I’m just tryin՛ to protect you. I don’t want to see you get hurt.”

With Maverick so close as he talked to me, I instantly felt that pull he always elicited from somewhere deep inside that I never knew could be drawn to the darker side of life.

Snapping out of the trance his touch and closeness always seemed to put me in, I brushed his hand away from my face and stood up, no longer willing to give into this hero fantasy I seemed to have created in my head.

I needed to start reading more murder mysteries instead of the Alpha hero romance books I’d come to love.

“It’s fine. I know you guys are only trying to help. I’m going to go change while you three finish up in here,” I said before quickly walking away down the hall.

As I headed to my bedroom, I tried to shake off this overwhelming feeling of the want and need for him that was clawing its way up inside of me.

I know this fantasy I have about Maverick won’t have a happy ending, so it has to end.

  Now.

  CHAPTER

  12

  Maverick

After Ava left Harper and I alone in the office once again, it didn’t take long for her eyes to return to mine. Both of us just stared at each other, un-moving, and in silence for a few moments. The fire I saw burning brightly inside of her eyes was so palpable, it was almost as if I could feel every lick of the flames pulling me in closer to her. And that feeling had me practicality jumping up off the edge of her desk when it felt as though my dick just burst into an inferno.

Moving away from her before I did something I might regret; I took my ass back to the chair I was sitting in on the other side of her desk. And by the look on her face, she looked to be both relieved and disappointed all at once. “So when your friend Ava returns, I want you to take us to your place, that way we can check out just how safe it is.”

Jerking her eyes up from where they had hovered over my mouth, she looked at me with confusion. “Who’s we?”

“Axle and Roman are with me. They’re waitin՛ outside and keepin՛ an eye out for any trouble that might be comin՛ our way.”

“You really think that they’ll try to come and hurt me.” It wasn’t a question. I could see by the look in her eyes, she knew it herself that the Slayers would eventually make good on their threats. It was just a matter of when.

“I do. That and technically me and my men have snuck in their back door by bein՛ here.”

Getting up, instant panic filled her expression. “Wait, are you saying you guys aren’t allowed in this town because of them?”

Rubbing my chin, I tried to convey to her as simply as I could just how dangerous it was, us being here right now. “If it was me and they were fuckin՛ around in my backyard… can’t say I wouldn’t send one of them back with a message to the rest of them written in blood. It sure as shit would be clear on what will happen to anyone who was even thinkin՛ about stepping foot in my territory.”

“Oh my God! You three need to leave then! I don’t want to be responsible for anyone getting hurt because they were trying to help me. You need to go, now Maverick,” she rushed over to hold the office door open for me.

Shaking my head, I got up and advanced on her before she could even take in her next breath. Pinning her up against the door, she just opened, I caged her in with my hands on either side of her head. “I’m not leavin՛ Sweetheart.”

“B-but y-you just said how dangerous it was for you to be here,” she stammered out, trying to look anywhere else but in my eyes. If there was one thing I’d learned about Harper, it was that she lacked the confidence in herself to be more assertive. Somehow, she didn’t see the stunning woman in her reflection that I did in front of me right now.

Though I could tell by the way her breathing changed as well as the way her body reacted to my close proximity that she was definitely attracted to me. And lord knew there wasn’t a speck of doubt that I wouldn’t have any qualms about fucking her up against this door right now knowing all of that. But there was a brokenness in her eyes that wouldn’t let me past the wall she’d erected around herself. The question was… why the hell did I give a shit about tearing it down?
Wasn’t it better that she used the common sense to keep me at arm’s length that I fucking lacked whenever I was around her?

Pushing off the door and away from her, it had been just in the nick of time when her friend Ava walked in and looked back and forth between the two of us as if she was trying to figure out what she’d just missed. “Everything ok in here?” She asked, glaring straight at me with suspicion shinning in her eyes.

Even though I knew Ava would be no match for me, I couldn’t say that the woman wouldn’t try to beat my ass if she thought I was hurting Harper. And I had to admit that I respected the hell out of her for that.

“Everythin՛ is just fine Ava. As you can see, she is unharmed. Even after bein՛ alone in here with the likes of a dangerous prick biker like myself.” I said flatly, knowing damn well what this woman thought of me.

“I’m fine, really.” Harper assured her on the heels of my comment.

Looking back at me, Ava’s eyes drifted over me before settling back on mine. “Well then, guess it looks like your balls get to stay attached to your body today Mr. Dangerous prick biker.”

I couldn’t even hold the chuckle in that rose up inside of me.

  I like this chick.

“Well then, me and my balls would both like to thank you.” Looking over to where Harper was standing with her mouth gaped open, watching as Ava and I exchanged snide ass remarks, I told her. “Get your stuff, we’re headin՛ over to your place now to check it out.”

  “But—.”

“But nothin՛ Sweetheart. Now, get your stuff so we can go.”

Seeing the anger that passed over her expression when I ordered her around, it had been the first time I’d seen it since I fucked up and mentioned her father. And I was happy to see the firecracker in her had made a reappearance. “Fine,” she mumbled, grabbing her things before heading to the door. “I’ll be back later after we’re—.”

“No, she won’t. So you make sure to lock things up nice and tight Ava,” I said, cutting her words off as I took a hold of Harper’s elbow and pulled her in close. We both walked out of her office and through the dining room, all eyes on us.
