“I’m honestly surprised the H.N.A. hasn’t found us yet,” Revolver pointed out.
I replied, “I guess you picked a good place to hide for a little bit.”
Revolver said, “Let’s hope we continue to stay hidden from them.”
We boarded the transport bus, found seats, and the bus took off back to Central Union. There were times during the trip that I was wanted to bring up the visions that I had been having, but I just didn’t know how to start the conversation or if Revolver would think I’m just being crazy. I started to think about our middle of the night discussion that we had. Sharik has everyone firmly believing that killing people to help others get what they want is right. I concluded that finding a way to stop the assassins is the best course of action. I started to wish we had some help.
The next day, we finally arrived back in Central Union. Revolver and I put our hoodies on and cautiously made our way to the library. We stopped for some food on the way and kept an eye out for assassins. Revolver looked nervous.
“Are you okay?” I asked him.
He gave me a look and replied, “No, I’m not. I’m pretty sure there are assassins around us right now. This was bad idea Spex.”
I replied in a stern voice, “Revolver, its fine. Stop being so paranoid. Finish eating so we can go. You don’t want to be in one place for too long, right?”
Revolver shook his head and took a death breath, “Fine, you’re right.”
He was scaring me a bit, but I was glad I was able to calm him down. This new direction we were taking must be getting to him. All I can do is reassure him that we made the right decision.
We finished eating and made our way down the street to the library. As we entered the library, everything changed, and I was in a forest. I was running into this building along with a group of E.T.B. soldiers, Kaido, and Vlaykre in front of me. It was late in the day and sun was about to set. Kaido stopped and turned to see me standing by the door. Vlaykre, who was ahead of us, stopped and turned to see what we were doing. Kaido approached me.
“Come on Spex, we have to save the other team!” he told me pulling at my arm.
I started to wonder why he was here now but not back when The Resurrect attacked.
I replied by questioning, “Where have you been, Kaido?”
Kaido shook his head.
“We’ve already decided to talk about that later, Spex. Let’s go! That’s an order,” Vlaykre ordered us and ran off ahead.
Kaido and I ran to catch up. We ran through the halls and found a big hole in the ground. Inside the hole were Sabre, Regan, Vlayru, and the other hostages that were kidnapped by The Resurrect. There was also a machine that Regan was doing something with.
“Are you guys, alright?” Vlaykre asked them.
Sabre looked up and nodded, “Yeah. We have the hostages and the NULL. Regan is trying to turn it off, so we can get our powers back.”
“The keyword being “trying”,” Regan added.
Tana came running around the corner on the other side of the hole.
“There you are! Father, are you okay?” Tana asked them.
Sabre responded, “Yeah, we’re good. Tana, go with Spex and Kaido to find Jessix. Vlaykre, I need you to help us from up there.”
Tana gave a surprised looked at Kaido and turned to walk the other way.
“Meet me by the entrance,” she said as she turned the corner.
Kaido and I gave each other awkward looks. We both then turned to go back the way we came to go back near the entrance. As they turned the corner, Revolver appeared.
“Spex! Snap out of it!” he exclaimed.
I shook my head, and I looked around. I was standing inside the library by the front door. I looked back at Revolver who looked irritated. He grabbed me by the arm and started to pull me to the side.
“Come here. We need to talk,” he said to me.
I replied, “About?”
“What has been going on? You zone out randomly, you talk in your sleep, then when I ask about it, you say it’s nothing. I think it’s something. Spill,” Revolver pointed out in an irritated tone.
“I talk in my sleep?” I questioned.
Revolvered nodded and waited for an answer. I tried to think of what to say and looked around for the right answer, but nothing came.
“I really don’t know. I see these random visions or dreams. They kind of feel like memories, but I just don’t know,” I answered.
He gave me a weird look and sternly replied, “It’s either you do know, or you don’t.”
“Well, when it happens, I’m standing there and I’m interacting with whatever is going on. Like, if someone is talking to me, I respond back, like it’s really happening. It’s like… I feel like they are memories, but I don’t remember actually experiencing them. It’s almost like they are someone else memories,” I explained.
Judging by the face Revolver was making, he looked puzzled.
I continued, “Okay, look, let’s not worry about it right now. Let’s go do some research on the sigil, okay?”
Revolver nodded in agreeance. We turned started to look around.
“We should to look in the History section. It might be there,” Revolver suggested.
I asked, “It’s not a religious item is it?”
Revolver thought for a moment, “It might be. We could check in the Religion section if we can’t find anything in the History section.”
We had to go up the stairs to the second floor to get the History section. We separated, checked around the section, and looking into the different books that we pulled out. After some time, Revolver came around the corner.
“Hey, I think I found something,” he stated.
He was holding a book open. I approached him and looked at the pages that were open. There was a picture of a sigil and text along with it that took up a single page.
He explained, “This book is just titled, Ancient Artifacts of the World, but It’s interesting. This is the only thing I can find on sigils. This one is called the Soul Sigil. It says that it was believed to be created and used by a shaman from the Dark Village, which later became the Dark Empire. It was used to tear souls out of people. It doesn’t say why the shaman created it, but it looks like they eventually used it on prisons for a long while before it was lost for hundreds of years before it was found again.
I read and pointed out another part of the book, “It says it’s currently at the Museum of Artifacts in the Thunderlands, but then how did it end up in Central City?”
“Back to the Thunderlands?” Revolver suggested.
I nodded, “Looks like it. But what else is in here?”
I took the book and started to flip through it. Something caught my attention. It was a picture of a dirty white book. I began to read the text description.
Revolver curiously asked, “What is it?”
“There is this book that was found at one point then disappeared. This is the only picture in existence of it. It’s called The Beauty of Life. It says that the book is about as old as recorded history itself. The text is written in gibberish and no one has yet figured out what it is talking about.”
We looked at each other in amazement.
“It sounds a lot like The Tragedy of Death book,” Revolver pointed out.
“I was thinking the same thing,” I replied.
Revolver then said, “But let’s focus on the Soul Sigil. We need to figure out what they are planning with it. Let’s get going to the Thunderlands.”
“Right,” I replied.
I put the book back and we started to head back to the stairs, but Revolver halted us and looked over the railing to the first floor. I looked too and saw a group of five suspicious-looking people who were dressed in all the same hooded jackets. They were on the lookout for something or someone.
I whispered, “Crap, is that…”
“Yeah, let take the elevator instead. It’s closer to the door,” Revolver interrupted.
It had
to be the assassins. He quickly pulled me in the opposite direction of the stairs. We walked around quickly to the elevator. We kept looking over to the men. Two of the assassins broke off and walked up the stairs. We got to the elevator and ducked down. I kept pressing the button to open the elevator.
“Come on,” Revolver demandingly said, nervously.
I was nervous as well. The door finally opened, and we got in and closed the door. It slowly made its way down to the first floor before the door opened again. As soon as we stepped out one of the assassins turned and spotted us.
“Go,” Revolver ordered.
We quickly made our way out the door. I turned to see the one that spotted us pointing at us. I recognized her as Pariz.
“There they are!” She exclaimed.
The other assassins quickly ran after us. As soon as we got outside Revolver started to run down the street. I did the same thing after him.
“To the bus station, quick!” Revolver exclaimed.
He turned to see past me, and I turned to look behind me. The assassins were running after us as well.
‘Great,’ I thought.
We continued running and Revolver turned to the buildings next to us.
He ordered, “This way,”
Revolver turned down a nearby alley and I followed. We continued to run down the alley and turned down another alley and out to another street. Revolver stopped us and we both looked around.
Revolver pointed, “This way; come on.”
We continued to run through the streets. After a few minutes, we both made it to a bus stop right as a bus was driving up.
“Well, that’s convenient,” I pointed out.
We turned to see the assassins coming around the corner. Revolver and I jumped on the bus as soon as the doors opened. Everyone else got on and we drove off right as the assassins got to the stop.
We both took a sigh of relief.
“That was close,” I said with a chuckle.
Revolver shook his head, “That is the only part about this whole thing that I hate.”
Chapter 14 – Lost Cause
We arrived at Lightning City, Thunderlands that night. We stayed the night at the same hotel that we stayed at last time we were here. Since we got in late at night, as well as being on the lookout for the assassins, we planned on staying until the morning and only got a few hours of sleep. Revolver took the first shift, and I laid in bed. I dozed off quickly, and I started to dream. This dream didn’t feel like a dream. It was almost the same feeling as when I saw the vision of these people fighting off the zombies.
I was standing next to someone wearing glasses and a beanie. He also had what looked like tight long sleeve armor, baggy pants, and a side cape. He overall was wearing all black with some blue. We were standing in the middle of what looked like an arena or coliseum. He was looked up at someone in the crowd who was saying something.
“Sabre! You have fallen into my trap! My name isn’t Samson, It’s Volvar!” Volvar exclaimed.
He had blonde hair that was slicked off to the side and was wearing a brown trench coat with a dress suit underneath. There was also a sword It looked like he was holding a remote of some sort in one hand and a specially made gun in the other.
Sabre replied, “What do you want, Volvar?”
Volvar laughed, “Revenge! You killed my best friend. Its time you pay the reaper!”
Sabre shook his head with a sigh, “Why is everyone getting revenge on me lately, jeez.”
“Did you actually kill someone?” I asked Sabre.
Sabre didn’t respond and kept his focus on Volvar. I tried to put my hand on his shoulder, but my hand went right through him.
‘Is this another vision, or is it something else?’ I questioned.
I studied Volvar more and something about him seemed familiar. He lifted the remote up over his head and pressed a button on it. He had a sinister smile on his face. On the screens that were on the sides of the arena appeared a timer. It started to count down from ten minutes. Red force fields also appeared by all the exits, except the opening on the top of coliseum. Those force field didn’t look like it was supposed to be in past, if that’s where he was.
“This place was rigged with explosives by the real Samson. I guess he had something against you too, Sabre. I took his plan and made it better, along with some help. Now for my next trick,” Volvar explained.
He pulled out what looked like a piece of paper and cut the palm of his hand with a knife to produce blood. Once the blood landed on the paper there was a loud rumble and the ground started to shake. Out from the ground, a giant snake shot out from it. It was about three stories tall. Volvar jumped up onto the top of the Snake.
Volvar continued, “Say hello to Vipercon. We are going to destroy the city while you, and the people attending this tournament, sit here locked up in this arena with the force fields. We want to make you suffer before you die. Oh, and before you start disabling the bombs, I left one more surprise. See ‘ya later!”
Volvar and the Vipercon launched into the air and out of the arena through the top of the arena that was open. A red laser shield covered the top of the arena as well as over all the exit doors.
“Damn him. What does he mean by sur-,” Sabre said before getting interrupted.
An arm holding a giant black sword appeared from a black portal on the ground right below Sabre. Sabre quickly blocked the attack and jumped back. I stepped back myself due to being startled. The arm was from a person that fully came through the portal into the air before landing.
“It can’t be,” Sabre said in shock.
The man was wearing a black tight trench coat, pale skin, and long black hair. It was Master Nether.
“Hello there, Sabre,” Nether said to Sabre, greeting him with an evil smirk and tone.
Nether was radiating what looked like shadow energy from his body. He then launched towards Sabre. I awoke to see Revolver staring out the window, lost in thought. He looked over at me and began to get a curious look on his face.
“What happened? Another one of your dream visions?” He questioned.
I shook my head and rubbed my forehead.
“Yeah but, for some reason I was there experiencing it without actually being there,” I replied.
“Weird. At least you remembered this one. Did you need more time to sleep?” Revolver asked.
I thought for moment then answered, “No, I’m good. Now that I’m thinking back to it, I barely remember it. I remember standing in a coliseum and Sabre was there.”
“A coliseum?” Revolver questioned, looking puzzled, then continued, “The only coliseum I am aware of is the Unity Coliseum in the Central City, and got blown up. That was over sixty years ago, before Dark Vanquisher’s first returned.”
I remembered seeing a news report on the coliseum about 6 months ago, “The coliseum is finally being rebuilt, right?”
“Yes, that’s right. They never gave a reason why it took so long to be rebuilt,” Revolver answered.
I started to wonder why I saw something that was from way in the past.
“What else happened?” He asked.
I thought back to the dream and then forgot.
“Uhm, I forgot,” I answered.
Revolver looked concerned and asked, “Why do you forgot right after waking up?”
I thought for minute then spoke, “I’m not sure. Anyways, you can get some sleep now.”
I got up as Revolver made his way to his bed. I looked out the window and scanned the outside for anything suspicious. I looked over and Revolver passed out quickly. He must have been tired. I quietly kept to my thoughts, hoping to figure things out.
A few hours later, the sun began to rise. Luckily, it was quiet, and no movement was going on outside. I woke Revolver up. He snapped his eyes open and faced me and stared at me with a surprised look. It was a little scary.
“Sorry, but it’s just about morning now. We should head out,” I told him, softly.
> Revolver nodded, stretched, as well as gave a yawn.
He stood up and responded, “Yeah, let’s get going.”
Revolver and I left but didn’t check out, just in case we needed to come back stay longer. We both put on our hoods and made our way through the city. Revolver pulled out his comphone and checked the map.
