The Masters- RE- Revolver Page 13

by Matthew Weldon

After looking at it for a minute he spoke, “Looks like the museum is about twenty minutes away.”

I nodded and looked around to see if anyone was following us. It didn’t look like it and focused on where we were going.

After arriving at the Museum of Artifacts, we started having a hard time finding any trace of the sigil. We spent some time looking, and I saw a person that looked like he worked there. I stopped him while he was walking past us in the opposite direction. He wore a badge that read Mitt.

“Excuse me, sir, do you work here?” I asked him.

Mitt replied, “Yes, I’m one of the museum curators. How can I help you?”

Revolver answered, “We were hoping to find some information on an item called the “Soul Sigil”.”

  Mitt looked a little curious.

“Why do you want to know about the sigil?” he questioned in response.

“We read about it in a book and it made us curious enough to see it in person,” I answered.

He replied, “Let me guess, in the Ancient Artifacts of the World book?”

Revolver and I looked at each other then back to him.

“Yeah, how did you know?” Revolver questioned.

Mitt sighed and shook his head, “It’s just every time someone asked about an artifact that used to be here, it’s always because of that book. I’ve requested an updated version to be released, but they haven’t done it yet.”

“So, if it’s not here then where is it?” Revolver continued to question the man.

“Well I can’t give too much info because of some of it being personal information, but what I can tell you is that it was taken by someone a few years ago. The person came in here and provided proof that it was a family heirloom. He even threw in a good amount of Nero to the museum. That’s all the information I have on that though,” The man explained.

I nodded, “Okay then. Thank you very much, sir.”

Mitt nodded back and continued on his way. I looked at Revolver. There were people around, so we spoke quietly.

“A family heirloom?” I pointed out.

“Yeah, the person must have been Rowlings. I don’t remember the book saying it was a family heirloom, though,” Revolver replied.

I said back, “Yeah, but the man also said it was out of date. Either way, Rowlings had it until Crynux and the blindfolded man appeared and killed him for it. Now with the power to pull souls out, who knows what they are planning,”

“It scares me, actually,” Revolver responded.

  I replied, “Yeah, same here.”

“Let’s get going. I’m hungry, and I want to find somewhere to get some grub,” Revolver said.

He turned and started making his way to the exit and I followed. We exited the museum. There were a few restaurants down the street nearby.

“I’m feeling pizza. Sound good to you?” He asked me.

I thought for moment and looked at the other restaurants, I saw a pasta restaurant and sea food restaurant. I looked back at the pizza restaurant.

I responded, “Yeah, that sounds good to me too. It’s cheap too.”

We got the restaurant, ordered our food and sat down. Five minutes later, it was brought to us by a female waitress. Her name tag read Kitney.

“Here is your combo pizza,” She said.

  “Thank you,” I told her.

  She smiled, “Enjoy!”

As we ate, Revolver started to question what Crynux’s motives are.

“Do you think he is trying to kill the candidates and stop the election for Sovereign?” I asked Revolver through a whisper.

He looked off to the side, thought for moment, and then answered, “No, because how would that benefit him?”

“Well we don’t know, maybe it does or maybe, it has nothing to do with election. Maybe he has another goal of his own? He did say something about his dead master,” I threw out there.

“I guess,” Revolver answered back, after taking another bite of his slice of pizza.

We were quiet the rest of the time that we were eating. We finished eating and then left the restaurant, putting up our hoods. We got back to the hotel about an hour later. As we walked into the room someone was leaning up against the wall. I instantly recognized this person as Vlaykre. He turned to us and stood up off the wall.

“Finally. I’ve been looking for you,” Vlaykre spoke.

Revolver shook his head in disappointment and responded, “I already told you- “

Vlaykre interrupted, “I know. I heard you before. I’m not here for that.”

  “What then?” Revolver snapped loudly.

Vlaykre sighed, “Someone is causing issues and has attacked two cities. I know both of you were at both scenes. I need you to tell me what you know.”

Revolver crossed his arms and looked away.

I sighed and answered, “All we know is that someone name Crynux has something called the Soul Sigil and is being helped by someone with a blind fold. We both are also aware there maybe something going on and we think it might have something to do with election.”

Vlaykre looked surprised. He didn’t speak for a moment. Revolver turned his head back to Vlaykre.

“What is it?” Revolver asked him.

“Shadow Raven. That’s the name of the one with the blind fold,” Vlaykre replied.

Revolver and I looked at each other then back at Vlaykre.

I questioned, “What else do you know?”

“He was human, once. Same as Crynux, who was a necromancer who abandoned the hidden Witch Village. Their will to cause destruction and take revenge is so strong that when they were transformed into shadow beings, they were able retain their human forms. It’s the same for Master Nether and this other person named Crios. Raven has a hatred for Sabre for accidently killing his best friend who went by the name of Obsidian Hunter. Crios and Master Nether also hate Sabre for their own reasons. Crynux has a hatred for me. Funny thing is, Crynux didn’t even change his name like the others did,” Vlaykre explained.

“That’s another thing that confuses me. Did Master Nether take the name after the real Master Nether?” I questioned.

“Yes, he hates his real name, Cloven. He is giving him a bad name. The real Master Nether was a good person,” Vlaykre replied.

“What did you do have Crynux hate you?” Revolver asked.

“I took his master away, who is also my evil brother. I sealed him away, and I hoped that it would have been the end of it. I guess someone managed to bring Crynux back, or he finally brought himself back,” Vlaykre answered.

I looked at Revolver who looked back at me again. We were both surprised.

  “Your brother?” I questioned.

“Yes. He deserved it,” Vlaykre said with a dark tone and mad look off to the side. He looked back at us and asked, “So, who are you trying to kill now?”

Revolver shook his head, “No one. We left the H.N.A. and are now are on the run while trying to figure out whatever is happening in the background.”

“I convinced Revolver that what we were doing was bad. We need to stop the H.N.A. as well as Crynux,” I added.

Vlaykre explained, “I think Crynux and Dark Raven are working for someone else, knowing them. They wouldn’t be making an appearance and working together after all this time, unless there was an incentive. From everything you have told me, it all seems to point to the H.N.A.”

He thought for a moment while looking at Revolver then smirked. He walked up to Revolver and put his hand on his shoulder.

“We are on the same side, Revolver. Let me help you,” Vlaykre said to him.

Revolver contemplated for a moment then crossed his arms and looked away.

“I don’t know about that yet,” Revolver replied.

Vlaykre’s lips twisted and he took his hand off Revolver.

“Well, if you change your mind, you know how to find me,” he told him.

Vlaykre then turned and created a portal and disappeared into it.
/>   I looked at Revolver with a serious face, “When will you stop being a child and get over what happened in the past?”

Revolver looked back at me with a mad look.

  “Just shut up,” he replied.

I shook my head and Revolver collapsed on the bed.

I got irritated and questioned, “So, I guess I’m taking first shift in watching?”

“What do you think?” he replied coldly.

I sighed and went to the window to watch. We switched shifts a few hours later.

The next morning, we got our stuff together and checked out of the hotel.

After we walked out of the front door and onto the sidewalk, I asked Revolver, “Where to next?”

“I don’t know yet, but we need to keep moving,” Revolver replied.

“Oh, I don’t think that will be necessary,” said a familiar voice from behind us.

Revolver and I turned around at the same time slowly. Shockingly, we saw that Lilith was standing right behind us. She didn’t look happy at all.

  “Uh-oh,” I said surprised.

Revolver stared at Lilith, looking like he was contemplating something.

“Yeah, you two traitors are coming with me,” Lilith told us.

As soon as she said that, Revolver and I twirled around to face the way the direction we were going and sprinted away from her. Revolver got ahead of me as we were running down the street and were coming up on an intersection. I turned to see Lilith gaining on us. Revolver created a ball of water energy in his hand.

“Spex jump over me!” Revolver said, then turned towards me and stopped.

He was getting ready to shoot a Water Blast. Without stopping, I launched into the air and started to flip forward.

As soon as I was clear, Revolver yelled “Water Blast!”

A burst of water shot out at Lilith while I landed on the ground in front of Revolver. Looked around and saw nearby people stopped and gave looks of confusion and shock at us. Revolver then turned and ran around me.

  “Come on!” he ordered.

I stood up and turned to run across the street to the other side walk. Without stopping, I turned quickly to see some H.N.A. assassins help up Lilith stand back up. She looked upset and angry. They then started to run after us. I turned my attention back to where I was going, and we both turned the corner down another street.

Revolver halted, and we turned around to see them gaining again.

“They just won’t give up, huh? Let’s go down this alley,” he said to me.

  I groaned, “Great, more alleys.”

We ran around the corner down another alley which turned out to be a dead end. We looked up and examined the building.

“That second floor looks abandoned,” I pointed out.

Revolver looked around, then spoke, “Okay, you first.”

There was a dumpster off to the side that I climbed up on and into a window. The room was empty and kind of dark. The only light was from the window I just climbed in on and another window on the other side. I turned and saw Revolver looking around for them. I didn’t see them either. Suddenly, I saw someone drop from above and kick Revolver in the face, sending him falling to the ground. Lilith then restrained him by holding his wrist to the ground while sitting on his chest.

She huffed, “That was for the Water Blast. Now tell me, where did Spex go?”

‘Crap’ I thought and ducked down. I peeked up enough to see what Lilith was doing to Revolver.

Revolver looked right at me, “He got away. I told him what he was doing stupid and idiotic. I tried to stop him, but he got away. I figured if I played along with his plan to take down Lord Sharik, I could trick him into attacking Sharik directly, then we could catch him together while he was surrounded.”

I saw Lilith start to turn see what Revolver was looking at. I quickly ducked out of sight again. Somehow, I knew he was being serious and meant every word. I was emotionally hurt because of it. I knew though that he was still conflicted the whole time we were on the run. I leaned back up to see Lilith shaking and her head had lowered.

“Do you know how hurt I was when I heard you went rogue? All I was thinking was, how could you?’” she said, her voice trembling.

Revolver eyes widened as he looked confused and a bit surprised. I ducked down again and was wondering why she was feeling this way. I didn’t have time to think about all of this. I needed to continue to run and get out of the city. I snuck my way out of what I now know is an empty apartment, down to the first floor and out the main entrance. There was an assassin just outside.

‘They are still looking for me,’ I thought.

I used my time powers to slow down time and get out of sight before I continued time. After some time of sneaking around, I made it out of the city.

Chapter 15 – Sands of Time

I was lost and confused as to what to do. I just walked and contemplated everything. I sort of auto-piloted to the Dark Empire. I look around realized I was close to Caedos City, the capitol of the Dark Empire.

It started to rain, so I put my hood on and looked around for shelter. It was pretty much rocky, dead terrain, so there wasn’t much. The path was I walking led me into the mountains that then lead into Ceados City. I decided to run off the path when I saw an entrance to a cave. The rain got heavier, as I ran over to the cave. I quickly got inside and stood at the opening examining the rain, dripping wet.

“I hope this doesn’t last too long,” I said aloud.

I sat down and folded my legs and my arms. I still felt lost. I wanted to know who I was, why these memories didn’t seem like my own, as well as how I ended up in Central Union with no recollection of how I got there.

‘Why is it taking so long to figure out?’ I thought to myself.

Something caught my attention outside the cave. I looked down the road and saw a traveler walking towards the city. He had a hood up that was part of a cape covering his face, but I could tell it was a guy. He was also wearing a sleeveless top, baggy pants that were tucked into his boots, as well as wrist guards. He didn’t seem too bothered by the rain. The stranger stopped for a moment and looked around before seeing the cave as well. he walked up and entered the cave.

“Hello, friend,” the stranger politely greeted.

He looked around then looked at me.

“So, are you on your way to Caedos City too?”

I studied him for a moment before turning my attention back to the rain.

I then replied, “Kind of. I’m just traveling. I don’t have anywhere to really go.”

“Why is that?” he questioned back.

I responded, “That’s what I’m trying to figure out. Right now, I’m in a situation where my only friend, who is pretty much like family, turned against me. I’m now left alone and confused.”

The man asked, “What are you confused about?”

“About who I am and where I need to go,” I answered.

I looked at him, and he looked confused as well.

I continued, “I have a form of amnesia and don’t remember anything from my past prior to about six years ago.”

He responded, “Well that makes sense. So, because you don’t know who you are, you can’t figure out how to move forward?”

“Exactly,” I said with a melancholy tone.

The Stranger responded in a cheerful tone, “I agree. You must know where you come from to know where you are going. Is there anything that would jog your memory?”

I thought for a few moments before answering, “No idea. Lately, I’ve been getting these memories and visions, but I feel like something is missing. It’s almost like they aren’t even my memories.”

  “Maybe they are,” he responded.

I looked at him with a curious look. I started to wonder if he knew something.

I questioned, “What do you mean?”

He explained, “You said something is missing. The missing piece could be a link between who you are now and who you were. You need
to get out there and find it. Maybe you should go back to where you were at your earliest memory are and look for clues. I’ve also learned that you shouldn’t do things alone.”

  “Maybe,” I responded.

I started to figure out what he was suggesting me to do.

He continued a slightly serious tone, “You should also tell your friend to grow up and tell him what he is doing is wrong.”
