The Masters- RE- Revolver Page 21

by Matthew Weldon

I readied my sword as I put my hand up towards him and exclaimed, “Sto- “

  “-Mind Control,” Yazrix interrupted.

I couldn’t move. Yazrix had put his hand up at the same time and it was glowing dark purple.

He laughed, “That was close. So predictable though to use your powers first, just like your worthless father. The problem is, though, that I’m better than you.”

His aura then changed to purple as he said, “Gravity.”

I was lifted into the air, dropping my sword. He then threw me through the air into the boulder once again and I fell to the ground. I spit out blood uncontrollably and couldn’t move again.

Yazrix laughed some more, “This sure is fun. You can’t do a thing about it.”

‘This must have been why he was a ruler because he couldn’t be touched in a confrontation. I know he can still be defeated though. If I could just use my powers.’ I thought.

I was able to fight to move my head. I looked over at Revolver and Sharik. They were clashing swords and it looked like an even fight, Sharik was doing less work then Revolver.

Sharik spoke, “Why don’t you just give it up, Revolver. The nation will know true peace, and you fighting against it will be meaningless.”

“I’m not giving up, Sharik. So, stop talking and fight!” Revolver responded.

“Did you want to try again, sport?” he asked me, in a sarcastic tone.

Yutsu came running up as I turned to her.

“Spex! Are you okay?” She asked, panting.

“Don’t worry about me. Just get out of here!” I ordered.

I knew Yustu couldn’t handle Yazrix.

“Yes, you should leave. Mind Control,” Yazrix agreed, opening his hand in her direction.

The gravity hold was released from me as Yustu was lifted into the air and thrown backwards, like a rag doll.

  “Yutsu!” I yelled.

I turned back to Yazrix. As an idea formed in my head. It would require that I get thrown again. I fought to stand up and prepared myself.

I replied, “I’m going to stop you and get Vlaykre back.”

Yazrix continued to smile, “I bet you would like that.”

I began to charge him. He put his hand up and started to glow dark purple.

  Yazrix exclaimed, “Mind Control.”

Once again, I couldn’t move, and he then said, “Gravity.”

Again, I was lifted into the air and thrown at the boulder again. I fell the ground and groveled in pain. Yazrix walked closer to me. I fought to even get on my hands and knees. Breathing heavy.

“You and that kid over there might as well just give up,” he told me.

  Everything was going as planned.

“How about no. Stop!” I yelled.

While still on the ground, I activated my powers, my hands glowing light purple. Time stopped. I stood up and limped over to my sword then limped over to Yazrix. I looked at him with disgust.

I spoked, “I couldn’t be related to this guy.”

I then stabbed him in the chest and continued time. The pain instantly hit Yazrix, and he fell to his knees. I yanked out the sword as he coughed up blood.

“Damn, kid. Maybe you’re not as weak as I thought,” he commented with a smirk.

Suddenly, I heard a scream of pain from the distance. It was Claymore who was on the ground struggling to get up. She was fighting Crynux. I saw that Revolver noticed too and stopped to see how he was going to help.

“Claymore! Are you alright?” he asked her, yelling because of how far away she was.

Sharik then leaped toward him and swung his sword. Revolver just barely blocked the attack but was pushed back. Their blades then locked, and they both fought to get the advantage. Revolver turned to me.

“Spex, help Claymore if you can,” he asked me.

Sharik then broke the lock and kicked Revolver in the stomach forcing him to lose balance. Revolver fought to stay standing up and was forced to walk backwards.

“You better go, Spex,” Yazrix told me.

I looked at him then to Claymore.

I replied, “I can’t let you go though.”

“Sorry, kid. Looks like it’s me or that girl over there,” he told me.

He was right. I couldn’t do both. I began to contemplate.

‘I could use my time powers, but I’m not sure if Yazrix still could use his powers. If he can, then he is probably waiting for me to make my next move on him. Then he would pull another fast one and keep me from my using my powers. He really is quick at thinking,’ I thought.

Claymore was still in pain. That settled it.

“This isn’t over, Yazrix,” I told him.

“Far from it, Nephew,” he said back with a smile and a painful chuckle.

I ran off to help Claymore. As I did that, I turned my head around to see Yazrix disappear into a dark purple portal. I was disappointed, but my friend needed me.

‘I’ll save you, Vlaykre. One day,’ I thought.

I readied my sword as Crynux was going in for the finishing blow with a knife that he pulled out. I clashed my sword with Crynux’s knife.

“You defeated my master? How?” he asked in an irritated tone.

I was mad that I couldn’t save Vlaykre. I decided to take it out in fighting. I pushed Crynux’s blade away and quickly cut his chest. He summoned shadow dwellers that quickly launched into the air. I spun around and sliced them all. As they dissipated, Crynux took out his whip and whipped it towards me. I blocked it, and it wrapped around my sword. I quickly pulled hard and turned around. I then thrusted the blade backwards by the side of my hip, stabbing Crynux through his chest.

“Damn you, Spex! I was so close to being by my master’s side again. You’ll regret this day,” he exclaimed through the pain.

‘Not the first time I’ve heard that,’ I thought.

I took the sword out, turned to face him, and sliced him in half. I watched as he dissipated and disappeared.

I turned my attention to Lilith limping over. I went to check on her. She had a lot of cuts on her body and was bleeding bad.

“Lilith, are you going to be alright?” I asked her.

She nodded, “Yeah, I’ll be fine. That Raven guy is taken care of. Let’s check on Claymore.”

  “Right,” I agreed.

We made our way to Claymore. It was painful to move but we both made the decision to press on. She was unconscious. Lilith checked for a pulse on her neck.

“Yeah, she’s breathing. She must have passed out due to exhaustion,” Lilith said in relief.

I sigh, “Let’s get her up against that boulder.”

Lilith nodded in agreeance. We picked her up by her arms and put her sitting up against the boulder.

“You don’t have any red pills by chance, do you?” I asked her.

“I only have two on me,” She answered.

I thought for a moment then spoke, “You and Claymore take them, then.”

“What about you, Spex?” Lilith asked me.

  “I’ll be fine,” I replied.

Lilith looked at me, “You need to go help Revolver. I’ll stay here with Claymore and protect her,”

“Okay. Be careful if an enemy shows up,” I told her.

I stood up as Claymore opened her eyes and looked at me.

She spoke softly, “Spex, make sure my brother is okay, alright?”

  I nodded, “I will.”

I sighed, turned and run. It hurt but I decided to ignore the pain. After a few minutes, I heard the clashing of swords together. I looked up at a cliff above me. On top of the cliff was Revolver and Sharik.

“Hold on, Revolver, I’m on my way to help!” I yelled.

I started to sprint as fast as I could despite the pain. I was relying on adrenalin to keep me going. It took a couple of minutes, but as soon as I got to the top, Revolver was near the edge. Sharik had his hood off, revealing his slicked back silver hair. Revolver swung his sword from the side. Sharik swu
ng his sword as well. Revolver’s sword was knocked out of his hand and Sharik did another quick slash, cutting open Revolver’s chest.

“No!” I yelled loudly, reaching out to use my powers but stopped myself.

It was too late to use it. They both stood there for a moment, as well as me. I couldn’t believe what I just witnessed. Revolver then fell back off the cliff.

  “Revolver!” I exclaimed.

I was in disbelief. Revolver couldn’t be dead.

Sharik chuckled, “Well, I was hoping he would join me, but I’ll settle for his death. Now, Spex, it’s your turn.”

I went numb and was consumed with rage. I started to see purple aura rage around my body. The wind raged around me, blowing away everything not anchored to the ground. Sharik tried to brace himself, but he was knocked off balance and flew back. He hit his back hard on a rock that was sticking out of the ground and landed near the cliff edge face down. It looked like he hit his spine. He looked up at me in pain, and he looked afraid. A purple portal opened near him. It must have been Yazrix. Sharik fought to quickly jump into the portal.

“Sharik! Don’t think you can escape!” I yelled loudly.

Everything then started to be engulfed in white.

Chapter 24 – The Needs of the Many

My rage abruptly ended. All I saw was myself and whiteness. I calmed down and looked around, confused.

“What is going on? Where am I?” I questioned aloud.

“You know, I didn’t think this would happen again,” a voice said.

I looked forward again and saw a bright light. It was hard to see.

  “Is someone there?” I asked.

“Oh, I apologize. I forgot to tone down my aura,” it responded.

The brightness got toned down, and I was able to see a white figure surrounded by light. I was baffled.

“You don’t remember me either, huh?” the being questioned.

  I shook my head, speechless.

The being sighed, “I remember telling you that if this happened again, I wouldn’t be able to fix it. It wasn’t too long ago that I gained my powers back, but fate has other plans I guess.”

“I’m sorry, but I don’t know what you are talking about. What is going on? What is this place?” I questioned the being.

The being replied, “Here, I’ll fix you your memories.”

The being placed its hand on my forehead. Suddenly memories flooded into my head. I remembered everything. My friends, family, the timeline change, being Master Time; The Protector of Time. The being in front of me was The Creator.

“Creator! I remember now. It’s back. Man, six years with no memory was terrible. I thank you though,” I said to him.

  The Creator nodded, “You’re welcome.”

I remembered fighting Remnant and getting hit on the head, just as Tana mentioned. Afterwards I woke up in same forest next the Remnant years later. We both didn’t know who each other was and we went our separate ways before meeting back up at the Hollow Night Assassin base.

“The weird thing though is that I was remembering things from the past, but I couldn’t even tell if they were my memories or not,” I told The Creator.

The Creator responded, “It sounds like you didn’t have all the memories needed to bridge the gaps to make you remember everything. You had some of the memories of your past-self, as well as all the memories of your present-self, But none of the in-between memories. Think of it like two people on opposite sides of a river the only way for them to meet and know each other is by building a bridge, which was the memories you were forgetting.”

I nodded, “That makes sense. I also can’t remember much of anything from the old timeline. When I was remembering the past, it was memories that I didn’t fully recognize having.”

“Those memories must have been the memories you remember as they took place in the new timeline. The only thing I can think of is that you are now adjusting to the new timeline, and in the process are forgetting the old timeline. It’s like the events of this timeline are replacing the old timeline memories,” The Creator explained to make sense of my memories.

The thought of losing those old memories made me sad. All those experiences I had are going away or are already gone. I looked around again and realized what I did. It all made me depressed.

“Will I completely forget about the old timeline?” I asked The Creator.

“Probably, But I don’t think you will ever forget that the timeline changed. I can’t say that this whole mess was never going to happen. I was hoping that it never would,” The Creator said.

  “How so?” I curiously asked.

“The timeline was supposed to stay linear. My hope was that you would keep it linear by not even mentioning it to you. Because of Remnant, that got messed up anyways. Now there could be multiple timelines,” The Creator explained.

“Well if there is, I erased one of them, even my home. I also let Revolver, who one of my best friends, die for a second time. The ‘Water Maiden’ even warned me about Remnant and didn’t even catch on. Things probably would have been different if I did catch on sooner. Just great.” I spoke.

The Creator explained, “Would it have been different? Also, Revolver’s death wasn’t for nothing. I’ve been watching, from else-where, but couldn’t do anything until shortly before now, unfortunately.”

“Great timing,” I pointed out, in a sad tone.

The Creator continued, “You did ruined part of Sharik’s plan to bring Dark Vanquisher back. The reason why he was taking children with potential was to use them as a sacrifice to eventually to bring Vanquisher back. That is what Lilith found out. For what reason, I do not know. Revolver ended up the perfect candidate because he is the descendant of Sabre. It was more prominent in Revolver then Claymore.”

“But wasn’t Claymore the better one of the two siblings?” I questioned.

Creator shook his head, “When they were children, yes. Revolver never reached his true potential until later in life, which was greater than Claymore’s true potential. Which was why Vlaykre was also trying to find him.”

“Wait what was that about Vlaykre?” I asked, confused.

The Creator answered, “Nothing. Don’t worry about it. Also, Death doesn’t have to always be a bad thing. You and Revolver brought hope and courage to Claymore and Lilith. You guys did that by doing what no one else would have been able to. Stand up against a coming threat.”

“But we failed,” I pointed out.

“It doesn’t matter. The important thing is that you and Revolver gave hope that will then be spread to others. Look at Lilith and Yutzu.”

I realized that we were still outside the timeline, “I guess it doesn’t matter at this point. You helped me once with the same issue, and I did it again.”

“Like father, like son. Plus, I never said it wasn’t possible to fix the timeline from being erased. I would prefer not to do it since I just fully recovered my powers. Like last time, I would have to disappear for a long time,” The Creator responded.

  “I’m sorry Creator,” I apologized.

I was still down about everything.

“You are forgiven, Spex,” The Creator responded.

“So, you’ll do it then?” I questioned.

The Creator replied, “I don’t have much of a choice. Plus, I’m not really one to let people suffer for their mistakes. Except Dark Vanquisher, he is an exception. You have to promise me to turn this around however you can since I have to go away again. Sharik is the type to have contingency plans. If he can’t use the people he’s gathered, he’ll have another plan.”

  I started to feel better.

“I promise. We’ll stop him. One way or another,” I reassured.

The Creator was silent for a moment.

“Dark times are coming Spex. I put my trust in you though to stop Sharik and Remnant,” The Creator told me.

I stopped the Creator, “Wait, I have one question. How was I able to stay in the timeline for
so long without running into my younger-self?”

“Well, everything worked out in a weird way because you were busy watching over parts of the timeline. Then, I indirectly sent you away with the other Cosmic Masters to another nearby planet that was having issues. It was a way to avoid collapsing the Space-Time Continuum,” The Creator answered.
