“I have a special delivery for you, babe. Think of it as a late wedding present.” He reached out for me as I jumped into his arms.

“Are they here?” I whispered in his ear, and he nodded.

Ryder and Collin walked with Carson and Blaz out the back door.

Crickett, Raine, and Abigail were frozen in the kitchen, looking at us with questions in their eyes.

“I think it’s best if you ladies turn the TV on and just enjoy your evening.” Bear quickly hugged all three of them before leading me outside, but then he stopped me before I could get to the metal door.

“Baby, are you sure you want to do this?” The look of concern as he asked me the question crashed into my heart. “You can’t come back from this once it’s done, but you can go back inside right now and let me take care of the rodent problem back here.”

I ran my hand over his coarse reddish beard. “I have to do this. I want you by my side while I end something that should have been taken care of a while ago. I thought it was better that they’d have to live with the guilt of what they’d done, but clearly that didn’t work, so now it’s my turn to protect you.”

Pride washed over his face at my words. Bear had done so much for me in the time we had been together. He’d saved my life, taken care of me while I healed, protected me from Jasper numerous times, and mended my brokenness. It was finally my turn to show him how in this I was, to prove to him and his brethren that I wouldn’t let anything threaten me or my family.

In the shed, Jasper and Lilith sat in chairs, their hands and legs fastened to the wood, gags in their mouths and tears streaming down their faces.

“Fancy seeing you here, Jas. I wish I could say it was good to see either of you.”

Lilith tried to beg for her life as I stood with my arms crossed, Bear at my side.

“You two thought you got the better of me, and look at you now—how pathetic.” I spit at their feet. “You should have just left well enough alone. You just had to run me off the road.” I leaned in close to Jasper as he whimpered a little before I continued, “You know what, though? Thank you for that. If you hadn’t almost killed me, Bear would have never found me and I wouldn’t be married to a real man. You really did me a favor that night. I could still be in my miserable, clueless life of getting cheated on and fucked over constantly.”

Ryder laid out his buck knife, a power drill, and a hammer. “Dealer’s choice, little lady.”

I cracked my knuckles, staring down at the toys I was about to play with. I’d never thought of myself in this way—vengeful and bloodthirsty—but I suppose people change when pushed to their limits.

I pulled my Kimber out of its holster, handing it to Bear. “I think a bullet is just too nice for Jas. Lilith should watch though, to let her feel a little of the pain she caused me.”

“As you wish, darlin’.” He took my gun and pointed it right at Lilith’s temple.

“Don’t worry, sweetheart—your suffering will be over soon.” I snickered at her. “And think, you used to be like a sister to me. Should have thought twice before climbing into bed with such a dirty bag.”

I glanced around at all of the members crammed into the shed. “Why don’t y’all head inside for this one. I want a little one-on-one bonding time with my husband.”

“Call if you need us,” Ryder said in my ear before escorting the guys back up to the house.

With the gag still in his mouth, Jasper pleaded, “Please, Scar, I’m so sorry. I’ll never bother you again. Just let us go.”

I shook my head. “Been there, tried that. Apparently, it doesn’t work for you. You’ve left me no choice.”

I took the buck knife and rammed it into his gut, turning it before ripping the metal out. He shrieked and gasped as he fought against the tethers that bound him.

“Oh my god,” Lilith screamed as she struggled against her restraints, rocking the chair from side to side.

“Shut her up. She’s seen enough.” I looked over my shoulder at Bear, and he fired one shot into the middle of her forehead.

Her limp body slumped in the chair as blood drained from her wound.

Bear grabbed the drill. “May I?”

“Be my guest.” I held my open hand out to signal that he could continue as he pleased.

Bear let the drill come to life then bored a hole in Jasper’s right knee cap. He thrashed as the pain consumed him, biting down on the bandana that was fastened in his mouth.

“I’ve always wanted to do that.” Bear winked at me as he set the drill down on the plastic-covered workbench.

I swung the hammer into Jasper’s side, hearing the bones crack from the blow. “Broken ribs—yeah, I know how painful those are.”

Jasper was sniveling as he tried to plead with his eyes. I knew the fun and games had to end.

“Remember when you said ‘until death’?” I barked at him. “Well, I’m glad you’re the first one to go.”

“Please, Scar. Don’t—you’re not a killer,” he whined as snot ran down his clean-shaven jaw.

“Don’t tell me what I am. You led me to this door, I just chose to walk through it,” I cooed in his ear.

I grabbed the hunting knife again, ramming it into his jugular. Blood spewed as he gurgled his last few breaths.

Standing in the aftermath of the madness, I looked up at Bear. “Thank you.”

“For what, babe?” he asked as he handed me a rag to clean some of the blood off my hands.

“For letting me take part in this. I needed the closure,” I explained.

“I told you, babe—anything for you.” He kissed the top of my head.

“What do we do now?” I asked, tossing the rag at Jasper’s feet.

“We let the guys handle the cleanup while we have a nice strong drink.”

“Yeah, I think I need one.”

“So, you’re kinda like my Bonnie, huh?” Bear hooked his arm around my neck as we made our way back to the cabin.

I glanced up at him. “I’ll be your Bonnie if you’ll be my Clyde.”

“I like the sound of that.”

  “Me too.”

  The End.

  Scarlett’s Surprise

  Scarlett

  Just another run-of-the-mill Sunday morning.

Yawning, I stared out the window as the sun beams danced into our master bedroom. Sighing, I rolled over to the cold side of the bed where my husband usually slept. It had been too many long nights without him but there were only a few more to go.

Grabbing the silk robe from the floor where I had tossed it the night before, I snuggled into the soft fabric to make my way down stairs for some much-needed coffee.

It didn’t take long for the pot to be full, bacon crackling in a pan and eggs frying in bacon grease. Humming along to the radio, I danced by myself in the empty room trying to make the most of the beautiful morning.

I hated when Bear’s business took him so far from home for long periods. It was sappy as hell, but I missed having my big oaf of a man stomping around in his Kiss the Cook apron. On top of it all, I had a big secret that I impatiently was waiting to tell my husband.

It had been a few years since we got married and it wasn’t that we were actually trying to have a baby, but the waiting started to get the better of me. I never admitted it to Bear, but having a child was on the top of my bucket list—to put it mildly. Finally, it was going to happen. Over cooking my eggs and switching my coffee to decaf were small prices I was going to have to pay for the time being.

Right as I was going to dig into my breakfast, the doorbell rang. I glanced over at the clock on the stove. Who could be here at eight in the morning on a Sunday?

I scampered over to the door, tightening the belt on my robe. Through the peep hole I saw the awkward grin of Collin, Raine’s little brother. He had come down from Vilas to help out while so many of our guys were out of town.

Opening the door, I realized he was carrying an overly large package.

&n
bsp; “Morning, Scar. Bear asked me to bring this by. I hope that’s all right.” He stared down at his hands as he made his way into the small foyer of my home.

“Of course. You know you’re always welcome here.” I helped him set the wooden crate down on the front table. “Want some coffee? I can whip up some more eggs and I made more bacon than I could ever eat.”

“No, thank you, Scarlett. There’s a lot of work to do over at the garage with Bear and Jax being out of town.” He rubbed the back of his neck, finally making eye contact.

“I’ll be by later to help with the paperwork.” I offered him a kind smile as he hastily made his way for the exit.

  “Sounds good. Thanks.”

“Don’t work too hard. It is supposed to be the day of rest,” I teased, leaning on the door frame.

He nodded. “Yes, ma’am, but there’s no rest for an outlaw when brothers need help.”

Collin was a sweet kid, nothing like most of the other members of the club. Not that he wasn’t tough as hell when he needed to be, but he had his father’s big heart from what I was told and wore it on his leave a little more cavalier than the rest.

“See you later and cut out that ma’am crap!” I winked at Collin as he trotted down the front steps to his bike with a kind wave.

Hurriedly, I pried open the crate with Bear’s pocket knife he kept in the drawer closest to the door. Ripping through the paper straw, I was greeted with a bouquet of wild flowers, a box of chocolates, bottle of my favorite wine and a note from Bear. Damn, if only I could drink this. I held the bottle for a few seconds. At least Bear wasn’t wise to my little secret. Bear was always overly good to me. He knew that it was getting close to that time of the month for me and always made sure that chocolate and wine were stocked in the house to ease the woes the monthly visits from Aunt Flow.

  Happy Sunday, Babe!

I wish I was there to make you breakfast and I am sure the house smells like bacon right about now. Since I can’t be there, I just wanted to send you a little something to help brighten your day and let you know that even when I am not there, you are the first thought in my mind when I wake up in the morning and my last before I fall asleep.

I love you, beautiful. Have a wonderful day.

  - Bear

Once the flowers were in water and I had cleaned up from breakfast, I made my way to my favorite place in the house: my bathtub.

I grabbed my Kindle, filled the tub with bubbles as sank in to read before I had to head to the garage to make sure all of the invoices were in order for when the guys got back to work.

It’s the little things in life.

Relaxing in the warm water, I dozed off a bit. The sound of the front door slamming and boots trudging up the stairs startled me awake. Usually, I would have sprung into action, grabbing my gun and hiding in the closet, but for some reason, I froze. Quietly, I listened for the intruder’s steps, holding my breath as they got to my bedroom’s door.

  “Scar?” Bear’s voice called out.

Breathing a sigh of relief, I yelled. “Where do you think I am?”

“I should have known.” Bear’s large frame took up the door way.

“I thought you weren’t due back for a few more days.” Excitement at the sight of my husband coursed through me as I started to climb out of the large bath.

Grabbing a towel, Bear scooped me into his arms. “I couldn’t wait another second to get back here with you. The guys have it under control.”

Wrapped in Bear’s arms, I narrowed my eyes at his freshly shaved face and a new gash being held together by butterfly stitched down his right cheek. Running my fingers just below the wound, I cringed. “Should I even ask?”

Bear shook his head. “Nothing to worry about. Just a misunderstanding.”

Just a misunderstanding—I knew what that meant. It was code for I can’t tell you so don’t pay it no mind.

Sometimes being an old lady meant not prying and knowing your place in the dark. I hated the mantra that ignorance was bliss, but that was the life and I had to live it. Bear was home and fine and that was enough for me—it’s the only thing that really mattered—him always coming home.

“Thank you for my present,” I cooed, trying to ignore the nagging questions my brain was begging me to ask Bear.

Kissing my forehead, he muttered, “Only the best for you, darlin’.”

I breathed in the musky aroma of cherry wood and gasoline off of Bear’s shirt, quieting my frazzled mind.

Scooping me into his arms, Bear growled a little. “It’s been too long and I missed the hell out of you, baby.”

I giggled as he carried me to our bed. He gently set me down on my back, kneeling at the end between my legs. “This is all I could think about for the last few days.”

Instantly, I was engulfed in the purest ecstasy as Bear’s tongue wasted no time to spoil me. He sucked and teased my swelling clit as he moaned into my sensitive skin.

“Fuck, babe. That feels incredible,” I cried out as his pace quickened.

“Yeah?” He smiled up at me without breaking contact as I ran my fingers through his short hair.

Within minutes, I was flooded with pleasure, riding his face as he brought me to another perfect summit. One thing that I had to give Bear credit for: he was extremely talented and utterly selfless when it came to our sex life. Ever since our first time in the kitchen of our house, he had shown me how much his desire for my pleasure really meant to him.

“Roll over,” he commanded after my legs stopped trembling.

I did exactly what he asked, planting my feet on the floor in front of him as he guided me to bend over the bed.

His hands ran down my ass cheeks as he leaned over to whisper in my ear, “I love you.”

I breathed in sharply as his fingers started to get me ready for him. “I love you, too,” I moaned into the mattress.

Without warning, Bear’s thickness filled me, making my breath hitch as I gripped the comforter. There was no feeling in the world as amazing as that moment. Sheer perfection was the only way I could even begin to describe it. It helped that we were so used to each other, but that wasn’t it, we were just perfect for one another. His desires and needs matched mine in the best of ways and it showed with every thrust and pulse.

Gripping my sides, Bear pushed deeper and harder into me as my hips bucked against him.

“Fuck, babe,” he groaned as his leg started to shake.

“Wait, Bear. Let me ride you first.”

“As you wish.” He quickly pulled out, getting on his back to help me climb on top of him.

Lowing myself onto his length, my head rolled back from the overpowering bliss. I ground on him as he batted my hair away so he could watch my tits bounce. I loved watching the smile that perked up his cheeks and shot up to his eyes while I moaned his name on top of him.

“Gah, I’m so close,” I cried out as his grip on me tightened.

That was all it took for both of us to be sent into a blissful climax as we shuttered and panted.

Then came my favorite part. Bear pulled me into him, curling me up in his strong arms, his fingers running through my hair.

“God, I missed you.” He pecked the top of my head, taking in a deep breath.

  “I’m so glad you’re home.

  “Me too.”

I propped up a little on my elbow to look at my handsome husband. “Bear?” I couldn’t believe how nervous I was to finally be telling him the good news.

“What is it, baby?” A worried furrow came to his brow as he shifted a little.

“I’m pregnant,” I stammered out before burying my face into a pillow.

Pulling me on top of him, Bear’s eyes were wide as tears welled up quickly. “Really?” I would never forget the smile the raked across his face like wildfire.

I nodded as tears started to roll down my face.

“I have never loved you more than I do in this moment,” He exclaimed, hugging me to him. “I think this is t
he best day of my life.”

  Chapter 1

I’d never had that feeling before.

Never had I felt the sting of bloodlust, the twinge of an overwhelming need for vengeance that plagued me.

Never until the moment, when I was fifteen and I walked into my home to find my mother’s lifeless body sprawled out on the living room floor. She was laying there motionless with a needle hanging out of her vein, blood trickling out of her nose and vomit filling her mouth.

  My body went completely numb.

  My knees buckled.

  My throat went dry.

My heart pounded in my ears.

  I collapsed next to her.

  My life had stopped.

I was in utter disbelief. She had been clean—for months.

She had finally started to turn her life around.

Then with one fucking dose, she was gone, ripped from this world and I didn’t even get a chance to say goodbye.

The scream of heartbreak broke free from my chest like a hellhound leaping from the gates of Hades.

I clambered to her side, pulling her into my lap.

  There was no pulse.

  She was already cold.

  I shook her limp body.

I didn’t know what else to do.

  I downright panicked, utterly unnerved.

Right there, for the first time in my life, I knew what it felt like to be unreservedly helpless and absolutely alone.

Scrambling into the kitchen, I tore the phone off of its cradle and dialed the only number I could think of. The police should have been my first instinct, but that was not where my teenaged brain went.
