Queen of the Stars

by Haley R Lawson

“This country may be very welcoming of space travelers, but this planet itself still has some reservations. If you are asking if Conner, Alex, Atri, Jackson, Tucker, and Heidi are alive. They definitely are. I just can’t reveal to you where they are.”

“We have someone special who would like to hug you. He’s been waiting for years to see you all again. Our nation’s first space liaison, Tommy.”

Tommy and Rose were both crying when Mr. Humphrey brought him on stage. He hugged her for at least a minute and said, “You did good.”

“So, did you. This country is great.”

“That wasn’t me. They built on you and Alex’s example. I was only in office for four years.”

“But those were the important four years. What have you done since?”

“I was a doctor and then eventually I purchased a hospital. I’ve been running that for the past ten years.”

“You did a great job Tommy. I’m proud of you!”

Tommy was taken side stage. Mr. Humphrey said “So, Ms. Rose now that Unity had landed for the final time here on earth, will you be staying as well?”

“I am the queen of the stars. You don’t need me here on earth. It is the anniversary of the day Unity first took me, so I decided to give her back today. She was having a lot of trouble lately and we realized it was her time to land.”

“And when it is your time to land?”

“Well I guess that would be up to Conner and Jackson’s son, prince Evan. My heart has always been drawn to oceans and stars. They will figure it out.”

“I am so glad we got to meet you today. Do you have anything else to say to the people of earth?”

“You are all aliens on a giant space rock. You are all in this together. It doesn’t matter what color or shape your skin is. It doesn’t matter what spirit calls you or where you were born. You are all royalty of planet earth and you should treat each other like you are. Respect each other, be kind to each other, learn from each other and most of all love each other!”

“That is truly beautiful. You heard it from the Queen of the Stars herself. We are all united here on earth. It has been a pleasure to do today’s session and I hope you all truly enjoyed it.”

They ended the session with some of the pictures from the Unity reunions. Ms. Rose and her granddaughter went outside and met some of the hundreds of people who had gathered to meet her. When she was away from the crowd, a blue beam appeared from the sky and picked her and her granddaughter up. They are most likely enjoying a royal dinner right now. The Unity museum is set to open in a few weeks. It is going to be interactive with holograms of all the major players in the ship’s transformation. There are rumors about a secret room in which there is a collection of Prince Alexander’s paintings. There are also rumors you can apply to be a royal on the new ship if you can solve a series of problems Ms. Rose and Prince Alexander had to solve during their first few months as leaders of the ship. I hope the second one is true because I really want to meet her royal advisors. I have big ideas. Thank you all for reading today. My next update may be from somewhere in the stars. As Ms. Rose said, we are all aliens floating on a space rock and we need to love each other because we are in this together!

  Acknowledgements

I want to start with a huge thank you to my parents, step-parent, and “back-up parents.” If I were to thank you for all the things you’ve ever done, I’d need a whole separate book, so I’ll keep it brief. Thank you for always believing in me. Thank you for pushing me. Thank you for always being there when I needed you! Thank you for all the laughs in the good times and hugs in the bad!

Thank you to my Sea Aggie Family! Sharing that small island home with you for four years was amazing! To be clear, I’m thanking every person on that campus between the years of 2011-2017! I may not have ever talked to you, because I was super shy, but you ALL impacted my life in ways I cannot begin to explain. A special shout out to the SALT Camp kids. Thanks for letting me be crazy with you and sticking with me as I broke out of my shell. Your stories inspired me to write and share mine!

Thank you to my family, friends, and coworkers for being in my life!

  I love y’all!
