His hands leave my rotating hips before they pry my forearms from his neck.
“Keep them shut,” he orders when my face shows a flinch, but I do as I’m told, riding his lap as he takes my left hand.
It feels as if something is sliding down my finger, something hard and warm, but I can’t be sure as they cramp into a fist from the overload of sensations, clawing at his hand.
“Matthew, I’m coming…”
“Not yet.” He stills all of a sudden, slamming an arm around my hips to keep me still.
Naturally, my eyes fly open. He’s holding my hand, lifting it so I can’t possibly miss the blue and white gems glistening on my fourth finger.
“What… What’s that?” The words burst out strangely, high-pitched and breathy and all choked up.
“What does it look like?”
My knees chafe on the blanket, too restless to stay still when I’m so damn close to reaching my high.
“Matthew,” I drawl, conveying a warning, “this is hardly the time for a proposal.”
His cock inside me twitches, getting even thicker when a ravenous grin spreads his lips. “Come again?”
Then he moves, starting with maddeningly precise thrusts. I just shake my head—in disbelief, denial, and infuriating frustration.
“Will you marry me, Samantha Kent?”
How the hell can he keep his voice so firm when all I can utter are serrated moans and syllables that make no sense?
“Jesus, Matthew…”
“Don’t tell me it’s too soon.” He increases his pace, adjusting his hips to drive in at a perfect angle—the exact angle needed to push me over the edge with just a few diligent strokes. “I’m sick of waiting for the right time that never seems to come only to find out that it was too late, anyway. So, Samantha Kent, I’m going to ask you again… Will. You. Marry. Me?”
He uses the words to form a rhythm in between his sensual thrusts. At this point, I’ve lost every thread of my control. I don’t even bother to get it back when the sensations multiply in my body until they set off a bomb.
“Yes!”
Three minutes later, I’m still trying to catch my breath, my sweaty forehead resting on Matthew’s.
“Busted.” He chuckles. “Wanna get out your frustration with a slap?”
“Yes.”
The slap doesn’t come from me, though. An orange chooses the moment to drop from the tree above, smashing on Matthew’s head. He yelps when the overripe fruit bursts, splashing flesh and juice all over our faces.
We crack up and lick the sticky stuff from each other’s skin, clothes, and lips. Our laughter doesn’t die down until the sun sets behind the horizon.
