Here I Go

by Jamie Bennett

“Nothing’s wrong. I was thinking about our family,” he said.

“You and me, or everyone inside that tent?” Music and their laugher spilled out into the darkness around us as I tilted my chin to look at him.

“I meant our family, the one we talked about starting. I think we should start one now.”

“You mean children?” I couldn’t help that my eyes filled right up. “Really?”

“Really. I was thinking of a little girl who looks like you.”

“We could name her Elodie, after your aunt,” I said. “Or we could have a little boy who’s just like you.”

“Dawson, after your dad,” Cain answered. “What do you think?”

I stepped away and took his hands. “There’s no time like the present. I think we should find a place where we won’t be interrupted and get cracking.”

“I like the way your mind works, Aria Miller.”

We were laughing as we ran together across the land where we’d build our home, under the sparkling stars, right toward our future.

  About the Author

Jamie Bennett (that’s me!) is the author of a bunch of super-great books, including a bunch about football and a bunch of other ones, too (like one about Aria's friend Eimear). You would really like them. In fact, you should probably read them right now, immediately.

Seriously. Go find them on Amazon.
