I watched as Remington took in Faith in her low-cut bridesmaid dress for the first time. His eyes glazed over. That was a man in love with this woman. I wondered if I would ever find out what happened between the two of them and hoped that one day, they could fix it.

When the preacher told Beau to kiss me, he cupped my face in his hands and did just that. “I love you, Mrs. Montgomery.”

Another round of tears slipped free as I managed to reply, “I love you too, Mr. Montgomery.”

A silent “eww” came from Rhett and Reagan as we pulled away and laughter caught us. One day it would be them. They’d be this happy and then we could say how we always knew how it would end.

The reception was held in a tent at the farm, but we didn’t want to attend. We were too busy starting our lives together. While we’d spent time greeting the guests, Remy and Jameson had gotten Apache and Zeus ready for us to ride into the sunset together. They would meet us as a designated destination and exchange the horses for Beau’s truck so we could slip out and go on our honeymoon.

It was the perfect ending to our perfect love story. I’d wondered if this was really our love story or if I was just imagining it. I know it won’t always be perfect. Some days it’s going to be hard and we’re going to have to fight for it, but it’ll be worth it.

And it appears we were always meant to be written in the stars.

  One year later

We’d been camped out in the barn for days, waiting on the arrival of Elle’s beautiful baby. It’d been eleven months to the day since we caught Elle and Zeus out having a midnight romp. Somehow, they’d gotten free of their stalls and decided to get it on. I couldn’t blame them really. Beau and I have been quite busy ourselves these days.

He walked up behind me, wrapped his arm around my back, and pulled me closer as I watched Elle paw the ground. “How’s momma doing today?”

“She’s restless. I think she’s ready to have this baby. Keeps looking at her sides.”

“Yep, sounds like we don’t have much longer to wait, then.”

He leaned over, warm breath hitting my skin as he whispered, “I have ideas in the meantime.”

I turned around and with a small grin, I replied, “Oh yeah, what did you have in mind…”

I didn’t even get the word out before his lips were on mine. And I was consumed. There wasn’t anything in this world that could ever compare with the sweet kisses of this man. His hands moved down my sides, gripping my ass and lifting me like I was the same weight as a feather. My legs wrapped around his hips, his hard length pressing against me. This man and my feelings for him. So much swoon and love for him.

“Cass.” My name a gasp on his lips as we pulled apart from each other and my eyes found his. He rubbed his nose over mine, “I want you so bad baby, right here in this barn. Can’t wait long enough to take you to the house.”

Before I knew what was happening, he’d pulled me into the tack room and was removing my clothes for me. My left boot was off, and my pants and panties were pulled down and off that leg. He didn’t even take the time to remove the other leg. This was need, intense need, raw and passionate. He needed me more than he needed to get me naked. My hands shook as I undid the belt buckle, button, and zipper on his Levi’s. The sound of my heart hammering against my chest was so loud that I wondered if he could hear it too. This feeling right here was Beau induced. This crazy, lustful need only happened when he was around. What was he doing to me?

I was more than willing to have sex in this barn where anyone could walk in and see us. The idea thrilled me more than I like to admit. I felt sexy, wanted, desired. I wanted him. Just like this, half dressed and needy. I could see the hunger in his eyes and it drenched my core. His fingers found me wet and wanton for him. “You need this, don’t you, darlin’.’”

A whimpered, “Yes,” came from my lips. “It’s your fault. Just being near you makes me needy, cowboy.”

His eyes filled with lust, and he picked me up again. I wrapped myself in his masculine scent and love as he lowered us onto the bed in the tack room. The feel of him inside was like nothing I’d ever felt before. He filled me so full that I had to hold my breath so I could adjust to his size. Not to mention I was still sore from our romp earlier this morning.

He pulled out and then sunk back into my body again. My fingers ran up and down his back as my head fell back in ecstasy. “Harder,” I demanded and he gave me just what I needed.

I cried out, and he stilled, “You okay, darlin’?”

I nodded and winked at him, “Hells yes. Do it again, cowboy.”

“Tell me what you need from me, Cass.” I knew what I wanted from him and I knew he’d give it to me gladly so I asked for it.

“Do not be gentle. Give me everything. Make me scream your name so loud that everyone on this farm hears it. Hard. Fast. Everything you have. I want to pant for you.”

Those dark chocolate eyes got even darker with want, and he did just as I asked of him. I was screaming his name before I even knew it hit me. I felt him grow bigger with my desire for him. He buried his face in my neck, pushed into me deeper, rougher, and trembled as he cried out my name just seconds later.

He stayed inside me as he walked backward and sat us down on the bed. Breathing heavy, our foreheads pressed together, feeling sweaty and in love we sat there and just revelled in the pleasure we’d just created. I laid on top of him, enjoying the feel of his body pressed against mine. His still-semi-hard cocked rubbed over me and I shivered and moaned. I wanted him again and we’d just made love. I was insatiable for him. I felt him twitch below me and a smile crossed my face.

  “You ready to go again?”

“Always, for you darlin’,” His voice was low and growly. Tingles crawled through my body and lust pooled in my chest for him.

“I love it when you call me darlin’.”

  “I know.”

I winked. “Hells yes. Makes me want to do dirty, dirty things with you.”

He leaned down to kiss me again and then paused, looking around the tack room. He smiled. “Did you hear that? Sounds like a baby’s coming.”

Sure enough when I stopped and listened I could hear rustling coming from Elle’s stall. I hopped up and jumped putting on my pants.

Reaching out his hand, he grabbed for mine. “Come on, let’s go see if she needs help.”

When I peered over Elle’s stall, I saw her laying down. She neighed softly and you could tell she was starting to push. A few minutes later, we started to see the foal’s legs. Beau slowly entered her stall, watching her push. He grasped the foal by its legs. “What are you doing?”

“Helping her out a little bit. I’m not pulling it out, I’m just holding traction so it’s easier for her to push.”

I nodded. “Oh, okay.” The nose came out a few minutes later and Beau was quick to remove the mucus covering its nostrils so it could breathe.

I watched him reach up and pat Elle. “Alright, girl. Here comes the hard part. This little one’s shoulders are coming next.” She neighed again softly as if listening to his words and pushed. I could see she was getting restless and worn out, but she was strong. I would be too if I had to push a baby that big out of me. The foal’s shoulders came out and Beau stopped holding onto the foal as it slid the rest of the way out and onto the hay covered ground. My eyes trailed to the end of the barn and I could see Zeus hanging his head out listening.

I walked his way and he knickered. “Hey, dad. Momma’s doing okay. Baby is super cute. You did good.” I scratched his head and he leaned into me, sniffing my pockets for treats. His hot breath heated up my clothes. “Okay, let me go check on mama. I’ll be back.” He tossed his head as I walked away as if to say, “Hey, we weren’t done yet. Come back.”

Back at Elle’s stall I looked in and saw Beau checking over the baby.

A grin spread across his face as he looked up at me, “It’s a boy.” He was the most handsome foal I’d ever seen. Jet black onyx hair like hi
s papa with a white on his forehead like his mama. He was a big boy and I was a little surprised she hadn’t had difficulty delivering him. Beau stepped out of the stall and we watched from the window as mother and foal bonded. She neighed lowly, looking over at her foal. She went to stand ensuring that she didn’t step on the baby then came back to lick and nuzzle him. For a second it looked like she was biting him, but that wasn’t the case. Elle was simply cleaning her baby.

For the next half an hour we watched as the foal tried to stand up time and time again only to fall over itself. Those brand-new legs were unusual to him and he wasn’t exactly sure how to maneuver them properly. A few times we chuckled as he tried and ended up plopped back on the ground.

My heart fluttered over this tiny little horse. He was so new. So precious and my yearning to have a baby of my own crept back in. I wondered if when Beau and I had a child, who would it look like. Would it have dark hair or light hair? Tall or short? Boy or girl. I could picture a miniature version of Beau and it made me smile. A tear slept out and slid down my cheek.

I felt his fingertips against my cheek before he leaned in and kissed it away.

  “Why the tears, babe?”

  “I think I’m ready.”

  “Ready for…”

I pointed to Elle and the foal.

“I want us to start trying to have a family. I want babies of our own.”

His face lit up like I was about to give him the best news he’d heard all day.

“You saying what I think you’re saying, Cassidy Mae?”

  “Yeah.”

“Hells yes, Cass. I’ve been waiting for the day when I could put a baby in you. Do you know how much I love you?”

He trailed kisses down my neck and all I could think about was stripping him down.

“Mmmm… how about we start trying to get me knocked up tonight.”

“Who says we have to wait until tonight?”

No one ever tells you how hard writing and then publishing your first book is going to be…and then it happens. Release day comes and you receive tons of amazing messages from readers who’ve absolutely loved it, people who want to share it and talk about it, and then… let’s be honest, you may receive messages from people that make you feel like their whole entire purpose in the world is to bring you down and walk all over what you’ve written and you as a person like a dirty rug. So, if I take something away from writing my first book, I’ll say this… Remember to be BRAVE.

Brave is exactly how I’m feeling as I release this second book into the world. It’s been a whirlwind and I can’t thank you enough for sticking around to see what I came up with next. As you’ve probably noticed, this book is vastly different from my first book, Second Chance Rescue. The reason for that is simple… this book is personal. A lot of the things in this book may cause triggers, they may bring up past experiences, or it may just be a story that you hopefully enjoy. I blew through a plethora of emotions while writing it—everything from tears to laughter to swooning- but I had to get it out on paper because if it changes one life then I’ve done my job properly.

Although there are many people I would love to thank, I’ll keep this short and sweet.

First, I want to say a HUGE thank you to YOU, the reader, for picking up this book and wanting to read it! The fact that you did means the world to me. Seriously, this author stuff is hard and having people excited about what you’re releasing next is the BEST feeling in the world. It goes without saying that if I didn’t have your support this book wouldn’t get into as many hands, so if you loved it… please share!

I continue to thank my husband, Kenton, for his exceptional patience with my squirreling tendencies throughout my writing. When I’m glued to my computer and checked out from the world, you always pick up the slack and make sure things are done. Like making sure I have clean clothes for my day job and cooking me dinner so I don’t starve! When life gets me down, you always seem to have the right words to say to make it all better. You are my rock, my constant companion, and the love of my life. You are my ride and die and I am eternally grateful that you chose me.

When I started this journey, I had no idea who I would meet along the way and I could not be more thankful for meeting Allison. Your positivity, patience, and encouragement knows no bounds, woman, and I hope you know how truly special a person you are to me and everyone you encounter.
