  Author's Note

This story has been on my heart for a long time. I’ve struggled with writing it because I’ve longed to write historical fiction, but God impressed upon me I should publish this novel first. Only through His grace and prompting has it come to fruition.

Now, onto the historical novels I’ve been hoarding in my head, and in my heart! I hope you have enjoyed Susannah’s and Ryan’s story and the way I intertwined them.

Sometimes God places us in circumstances that are difficult—just to get our attention—sometimes to make us grow, or to draw us to Him. This story is about these things. God knows what it will take to get us to follow Him. He gives us many chances to seek Him for eternal salvation.

Please forgive me for any errors regarding legal issues, Britishisms that may be inaccurate, and the poetic license I’ve taken in telling this story.

Bedale, North Yorkshire, England is the fictional Neville. I have visited Bedale on two of my trips to England because some of my ancestors lived there centuries ago. The area which encompasses Bedale has a population of over three thousand, therefore I changed the name because I wanted to condense it into more of a small country village.

Also, there is no rail service (except via the scenic, and historic, Wensleydale Railway) into Bedale, so I created one that travels to Northallerton, which has a much larger population, to give my characters more ease of transportation.

Blue Cottage inspired Permelia Cottage, although I changed the floor plan. It’s in the tiny village of Ebbesbourne Wake, Wiltshire, England. I hope you enjoyed the story and that it touched your heart.

  God bless,

  Carole
