“Is that why you volunteer at the hospital? Because of what you went through?”

She nodded. “Yeah. I was twenty-three and scared and a mess. I can’t imagine how these little kids feel. Anything I can do to brighten their day, provide a little distraction…I know how much that’s worth.”

“That’s a really beautiful thing that you do,” he said, tracing his thumb over her cheek. “You’re such a beautiful person, Willa. Inside and out.”

Warmth suffused her at his compliment and she leaned forward and pressed a soft kiss to his mouth. “You should come with me some time,” she said, snuggling back down against his chest.

  “To volunteer?”

“Yeah.” She sat up again, an idea charging through her. “We could use a new superhero. We used to have a Spider-Man who came regularly, but he moved away.” She licked her lips and let her eyes rove over him, taking in the dark wavy hair that she knew was actually curly, the chiseled jaw, the broad, muscular frame. “You’d make an excellent Superman.”

And then, just when she didn’t think she could be any more into him, he blushed. “Yeah?”

  “Definitely. I think you’d be a hit.”

He pursed his lips and then nodded. “Okay. I’d like that.”

Affection filled her up, making her feel like a balloon floating on a warm breeze, and she climbed into his lap, trailing kisses over his neck and jaw. “So…” She scraped her teeth over his earlobe and felt his cock twitch against her. “Not to change the subject, but…what are we going to tell people at work?”

He opened his eyes and cupped her face. “What do you want to tell them?”

She shrugged, biting her lip. “I mean, it’s not a secret that we’re together, but maybe we should keep a low profile around the office. You are my boss.”

“And we’ll have to fill out that HR paperwork,” he added with a grin.

“Right,” she said, shifting against his thickening cock. “The official ‘we’re in a relationship and I promise not to sue the company if we break up’ paperwork.” The words breaking up tasted like sawdust in her mouth. She didn’t want to think about that possibility.

“So, paperwork and a low profile. I think I can manage that.”

“Do we make some kind of announcement, or…I don’t know? I guess it isn’t really anyone else’s business, right?”

“Angel, you’re forgetting that I kissed you in front of probably thirty other people yesterday. I promise you, the rumor mill is already churning.”

“Right,” she said, sighing as his large palm cupped her breast, massaging gently. “God, how was that only yesterday?”

“It’s been an eventful twenty-four hours.”

“You know that we’re only going to add fuel to the fire by not coming in today,” she said, not really worried what her co-workers might think. It wasn’t as though she was doing something wrong by dating Max.

“Let them talk. I have more important things on my mind,” he said, dipping his head and kissing her neck. She shivered and tilted her head, her body already coming to life for him, a sweet, sharp ache settling between her legs.

  “Such as?”

“Taking a shower with you and seeing how many times I can make you come.”

“Mmm, yes. That’s definitely much more important.”

With a playful growl, he tumbled her backward and started kissing his way down her body, apparently determined to make her come at least once before leaving the bed.

A week later, Willa strode down the hall toward her office, a perma-grin plastered to her face. She was able to say, without any hyperbole whatsoever, that the past week had been the best week of her life. The morning after they’d woken up together, after their sushi dinner—after he’d told her he loved her—they’d skipped out on work, instead spending the day having sex, eating delicious food, lounging around Central Park, and playing video games.

Once they’d returned to work the following day, she’d known immediately that Max had been right about the rumor mill. Even now, as she walked, she was conscious of several pairs of eyes glued to her. She’d overheard one person referring to them as “beauty and the sexy beast,” a couple nickname she wasn’t entirely opposed to, even though she knew Max was far from a beast. He was sweet and smart and incredible. And he was hers. It still felt a little surreal, but gradually she was getting used to the fact that Max Prescott was her boyfriend.

And she’d spent almost every evening with him over the past week. Dinners, going to the movies, walking the High Line, an art gallery opening he’d had an invitation to. All followed by so many orgasms she’d given up trying to keep track. He was absolutely unbelievable in bed, always so intensely focused on her pleasure. It made her want to turn the tables and focus on him, make him feel so good he lost his mind the way she was constantly losing hers.

He’d been busy last night with a dinner meeting for a board he was a member of, and it was a little embarrassing how much she’d missed him. It was silly, really. They’d only been dating for a week and they’d spent every single evening together. But still. She’d missed him. A lot. Not just the sex, but being around him, talking with him, falling asleep tucked against his big, warm body.

She stepped into her office and sat down behind her desk, dropping her purse onto the floor. Her butt had barely touched the chair before Max poked his head in, grinning at her from the doorway.

Everything inside her lit up like the Fourth of July at the sight of him, her stomach fluttering wildly, her pulse throbbing in her temples, her wrists. He stepped into her office, a Starbucks cup in his hand, and it was as though the entire world dropped away. All that mattered, all that she knew, was Max.

“Morning, angel,” he said, setting the coffee down on her desk with a wink that she felt deep in her belly, like a jolt of pure adrenaline. He sank down into the chair facing her desk, his glorious body all spread out. She couldn’t decide which she liked better: professional Max in his navy blue suit, crisp white shirt and red tie, or casual Max, with a bedhead full of curls and wearing nothing but a pair of gray sweatpants. She loved that she didn’t have to choose. They were both hers.

She smiled at him, her heart banging like a kick drum in her chest. “Morning,” she said, picking up the Starbucks cup and taking a sip. “Mmm. Thank you.”

He glanced over his shoulder and then pushed up out of the chair, came around behind her desk, cupped her face and kissed her, soft and sweet.

“Holy shit, I missed you,” he murmured, trailing his thumbs over her cheekbones. “I know it was just one night, but—”

She cut him off by tilting her face back up to his and kissing him. “I missed you, too.”

“Good.” He brushed his nose against hers and then retreated to his side of the desk. “Because I have a surprise for you. Two surprises, actually.”

She took another sip of her coffee, her skin tingling pleasantly from both the kiss and the caffeine. “Ooh. Do tell.”

He grinned. “The New York Times wants to interview Tapp about our Blind Date app, and I suggested they speak with you.”

Her mouth fell open. “Me?” she asked, her voice coming out with a squeak.

He nodded. “This was your project, Willa. You ran it, oversaw it from prototype to beta, and you’ve done an excellent job. Blind Date is a result of all of your hard work.”

She pressed her fingers to her mouth, feeling a bit stunned. “Wow. I don’t even know what to say. Thank you.”

  “You’re welcome.”

  “What’s the second surprise?”

His smile grew and he reached into his jacket pocket, fishing out what looked like two tickets along with a business card. “I have tickets to the MoMA gala next Friday night.”

Her eyes grew wide and she reached out, snatching the tickets out of his hand. “How did you get these? This is on par with the Met Gala, it’s so exclusive and hard to get into.”

He shrugged. “We’re in talks about designing virtual tou
rs and exhibitions for them and they offered them to me.” He rubbed a hand over the back of his neck, his cheeks going a bit red. “Honestly, I think the woman I met with was hoping I’d go as her date, but when I explained that I had a girlfriend, she graciously offered me the pair.”

“I’m sure she was,” Willa murmured, still looking at the tickets. “I…crap, what the heck am I going to wear?”

He exchanged the tickets in her hand for the business card. Her eyes zeroed in on the distinctive Bergdorf Goodman logo along the top. “Email Brandi Goldstein, she’s one of the best stylists. She’ll help you find whatever you want.”

She sucked in a breath. “Oh, but Max, there’s no way I could afford a designer dress from Bergdorf’s. Maybe I could rent something…” She trailed off, the wind completely leaving her sails.

Standing, he reached forward and slipped his fingers under her chin, tilting her face up to look at him. “Get whatever you want and put it on my account.”

She shook her head slowly. “I can’t do that,” she said softly. “That’s too much.”

He smiled at her, and it was so full of warmth and care that it nearly knocked her over. “It’s not.” He leaned in closer. “It’s not nearly enough. I want to give you everything, angel. Whatever you want. Whatever you need. I like spoiling you.”

Every time he called her angel, her insides felt like melted butter, all hot and sweet and liquified. She nodded, licking her lips. “Okay. If it makes you happy.”

“Nothing makes me happier than taking care of you.”

She lifted her hand and traced her fingertips over his cheek. Just when she thought her life couldn’t feel like more of a fairytale, he went and swept her off her feet with invitations to exclusive events and promises of designer dresses. “Thank you. This is an amazing surprise.”

He leaned in closer and pressed a gentle kiss to her lips. “I’ll see you tonight, yeah?”

“You promised me pizza and Super Mario. I’ll be there.”

The smile he flashed her was absolutely devastating in its beauty, in its ability to completely unravel her in under a second.

“Good.” He turned to go and then paused near the doorway. “When you come over tonight, why don’t you bring some extra things? You know, toothbrush, toiletries, some spare clothes. So you don’t have to cart everything back and forth.”

Her heart slammed against her ribs. “I can leave some stuff at your place?”

He nodded, flashing her that grin again. “If you want. I’d…I’d like that.”

“Okay,” she said, nodding. It was only after Max had been gone for several minutes that she realized that her cheeks were hurting because she was still smiling.

“Okay, when I suggested you wear a Superman costume, I was thinking, like, a blue shirt and leggings and some red undies and a cape, but this…” Willa circled Max, making him feel even more self-conscious. “This is incredible.”

Not being someone who did anything halfway, he hadn’t just bought the first Superman costume he’d found. He’d done his research and eventually found a high quality one for several hundred dollars, and then had paid extra to have it overnighted to make sure he had it in plenty of time to volunteer with Willa.

“You like it?” he asked, trying to relax his shoulders. It fit him like a glove and left little to the imagination, something he was going to have to be very, very careful about. He knew how important volunteering was to Willa, and he didn’t want to embarrass her.

She made a purring sound and ran a hand up his chest. “Mmm. Very much.” She stroked across his pecs and then down over his abs. “This material is really high quality and it fits you so well. And the cape is perfect. It’s so long and swoopy. The kids are going to love it. I know I do,” she said, glancing up at him as her fingers skated lower.

He caught her hand, staring down at her in her unicorn onesie, glitter on her cheeks. So, so beautiful and sweet. “Willa, angel, you cannot make me hard in this suit. I’ll get arrested.” Thankfully they hadn’t left his place yet, otherwise he’d be in some serious trouble.

She took her hands back, laughing. “Okay. Okay.” Her eyes glimmered with the best kind of mischief. “But promise me we can play with this later.”

Heat roared through his veins and he slipped his arms around her waist, pulling her against him while fighting a losing battle against the blood making his cock feel heavier and heavier. The way he was responding to her, it was as though he hadn’t had her twice just last night. “Oh yeah? I think you’d make a damn cute Lois Lane.”

Her cheeks went pink and she wriggled against him, not doing anything to help him regain control over his thickening cock. “I did consider majoring in journalism, but I liked computer science more.” She slid her arms around his waist and down to his ass, where she gave a squeeze. He made a gruff sound in the back of his throat, tipping his head back, his eyes closed.

“How do you go to the bathroom in this thing?” she asked, stroking her palms up and down his back.

“There’s a little hidden zipper,” he said, pointing. “Here.”

Holding his gaze, she sank to her knees in front of him. “Show me.”

Oh, sweet Christ. She was trying to kill him. “Willa, you don’t—”

“I want to.” She ran her hands up his thighs. “I like taking care of you, too.”

His fingers shook a little as he found the small zipper hidden in the crotch of the suit and undid it. He’d barely got it all the way open before Willa’s slender fingers were there, working to free him. Nuzzling her lips over his now fully hard cock, she let out a breathy moan.

“Maybe if I give you a little relief, you won’t be so worried about getting arrested,” she said, then dragged her tongue up the entire length of him. “God, look at this,” she whispered as she stroked him. “I can’t even close my hand around you. Not all the way.”

He thrust into her hand, working himself against her palm. It was incredible, the way she was able to take him from zero to sixty so quickly, but he wasn’t questioning it. He couldn’t when everything felt so good with Willa. So right and perfect and sweet with a side of dirty he couldn’t get enough of.

She continued stroking him with one hand, cupping his balls with the other, fondling and massaging in exactly the way he liked. They’d spent a lot of time over the past two weeks learning each other’s bodies and every single time, the sex got better and better because of it.

“They’re so heavy right now,” she said, still fondling him and stroking him. “You definitely need to come.”

A drop of pre-cum leaked from the tip of his aching dick and she slicked her thumb over it, rubbing her thumb over his head, playing in the flared ridges. She licked her lips and brought him closer to her mouth, close enough that he could feel her breath fanning over his heated skin. She dragged her lips over and around his head and he let out a low groan, weaving a hand into her hair. Looking up at him through her lashes, she kissed the head of his cock and then licked him slowly, swirling her tongue over and around him.

“Put me in your mouth, angel,” he said, his voice frayed around the edges. “Suck me until I come all over your tongue.”

She grinned and then opened her mouth and stretched her lips around him, sucking him deep into her mouth.

He hissed out a breath, his hand tightening in her hair. “That’s it,” he said roughly, fighting back the urge to thrust his hips forward. “You look so fucking gorgeous with my cock in your mouth, Willa.” She moaned and sucked him even deeper, then established a slow, steady rhythm as she bobbed her head, working his cock with her lips and tongue. She curled her hand around his shaft and stroked him, meeting her mouth with each sweep of her lips down his cock. After several blissful minutes, she released him and stroked him, her tongue swirling over his balls. He grunted and clenched his fist, heat coiling deep in his belly.

“I love sucking you,” she said, trailing her lips across his balls, stroking him harder,
rougher. “I love this gorgeous cock. In my mouth. In my pussy. I can’t get enough. It’s so thick and long and perfect. Mmm.”

“Fuck, Willa,” he whispered, unable to stop his hips from jolting forward at her words. “The things I want to do to that pretty little mouth,” he ground out, fighting for control.

She took him back into her mouth, sucking him hard and deep, her mouth moving up and down his cock in a way that had everything inside him going tight and hot. She pulled back again, looking up at him as she stroked him. “So do them, Max. I’m yours. Take what you need.”

Her words undid something inside him, shredding the last bit of restraint he’d been clinging to, and he slid his other hand into her hair, tightening his grip. And then he thrust his hips forward, forcing her to take more of him. She moaned around his cock and he did it again. God, what was wrong with him that he was going to get off on using Willa like this? On fucking her pretty face until he came in her mouth?

“Fuck, angel,” he groaned, his fingers in her hair, his hips moving. “It’s so good. Your mouth is so fucking perfect. Jesus.”

She moaned again and he could tell from the way she was rubbing her thighs together that she was wet and needing him. Already, he was cataloguing all of the different ways he could make her come later, when they had more time. Ways that involved his mouth, his fingers, his cock. He wanted to pin her to a wall, sink to his knees and eat her pussy until she came all over his face. He wanted to fuck her from behind, his hand between her legs. He wanted to make her come on his fingers again, like he’d done the first night they’d been together.

Heat seared down his spine, snapping and crackling like electricity as a tingling pulse gathered intensity in his balls, at the base of his cock. He wasn’t going to last much longer at this rate.

He held her gaze as he worked his cock in and out of her mouth, long drags that came faster and faster as he lost control. The twisting pressure inside him broke, dissolving into pulsing throbs and with a loud groan, he thrust deep into her mouth one last time and then came in several long spurts, rapt as he watched her swallow down everything he gave her. His heart pounded hard and fast in his chest, trying to break free of his ribs and leap into Willa’s capable hands.
