But Darren did not stop. His body was a machine, and the ripped muscles of his abdomen crunched as he thrust into me over and over, bringing the sensations that were threatening to overtake every sensor in my brain to critical mass. I felt like I couldn’t process anything other than his body inside mine and the feeling of euphoria it caused. My legs wrapped around his waist as I subconsciously begged him to push harder, faster, deeper inside me.

He obliged. The speed increased as did his breaths. He was fucking me hard and fast, and I never wanted it to stop. A smile flickered across his face, and his elbows bent as he curled up close. He wrapped me in his arms, our mouths pressing together again as he rolled onto his back. Sweat dripped from his chest, and I curled into him to lick it up. As I did, my hips began to move on their own, instinctively wanting the pleasure to continue.

As I sat up, focusing on bouncing on his cock and letting it slide even deeper into me from the new position, his hands wrapped around my waist, then slid around to cup my ass. I placed my hands on his muscular chest and leaned forward, giving him more of me to grab. He did so with glee, taking the opportunity to pull one of my breasts into his mouth and twirl the nipple with his tongue, while his hands squeezed my ass cheeks. Guiding me faster, his grip intensified, and I rode him hard.

I closed my eyes and leaned back, displaying myself to him as I slowed down. His eyes widened, and the tip of his tongue slid between his lips as he eyed my pussy, gripping his shaft as I stroked him with my entire body in slow motions. One of his hands left my ass, and he flicked his thumb across his outstretched tongue. Then Darren pressed it against my clit, and I moaned loudly. Sounds tumbled out of me as I increased my speed, and his thumb began to swirl, bringing a sensation of pleasure that overwhelmed me. A second, even more powerful climax was building, and I locked eyes with him as it did. My whimper at every time his cock filled me deeper seemed to drive his intensity further, and I felt the wave of pleasure at the brink of crashing around me.

My head flew back, and I cried out his name as the orgasm took hold, and he sat up into me, clasping me, pushing me back down on my back and folding me up. The sensation stretched on as he pounded into me again, my ankles brushing against his ears as he grunted an animalistic sound in his effort. Just when I felt like I couldn’t possibly handle anything else, that my brain was on complete overload, he roared out and my voice matched his. He exploded into me, and I came with him, our bodies shaking, climaxing together before he crumpled into my arms.

“I have to warn you,” I said as we drove toward my parents’ house on Sunday night. “They’ve probably gone all out on outfitting the house for Willa.”

“What do you mean?” she asked, glancing over at me, then back ahead of her as she followed my directions.

“They were already getting prepared for Quentin and Merry’s baby, but that’s going to be a newborn. They started putting together a nursery about fourteen seconds after they found out Merry was pregnant and have been packing it full of all the baby stuff since. Every couple of days, Mom posts in our family group text and puts pictures of the new stuffed animals and books and clothes and things she’s bought for the nursery. She has been ready for that baby to be born for months now. But Willa is different,” I explained.

“Because she’s not a newborn,” she acknowledged.

“Exactly. She’s had a brand-new reason to start crazy shopping again, and Dad has been right there on board with her.”

“So, I should prepare myself for a baby wonderland, is that what you’re telling me?” she asked.

“Something like that. And it’s probably babyproofed at this point, so don’t be surprised if you’re not able to open any of the cabinets or anything.”

Kelly laughed. “I’ve had to babyproof before. I think I can handle it. All the stuff at my house is babyproofed.”

“Yeah, and I can’t get in any of it,” I told her, making her laugh more. “Those things are no joke.”

“I’ll teach you how to use them,” she offered.

  “Thank you.”

“I’m glad to hear they’re excited to have her visit,” she said.

I could tell there was more behind that than just being excited about Willa seeing her grandparents and my parents getting to know her. She was thinking about my mother and the tension that was still between them. I made a note to myself to sit Mom down to talk to her about Kelly. It was strange to think about having to have a talk with her rather than the other way around, but this was important. I couldn’t have the two of them not getting along or having an uncomfortable relationship. They both meant so much to me, and I hated the thought of them being like this forever. I needed to talk to Mom and get her to understand how she was affecting Kelly.

It wouldn’t be an easy conversation. I understood where she was coming from. It was a major shock for her, but it was also painful. She’d missed out on the earliest stages of Willa’s life just like I had, and that was painful. She felt hurt and almost betrayed by Kelly as well. She hadn’t come right out and said it, but I had the feeling she was still unsure of Kelly’s motivations coming to work at the compound. She’d sat there across from my mother even before she’d seen me on the day she was being interviewed, and they’d talked. Somehow Mom felt like she should have known, like she should have sensed something about Kelly. I needed to talk to her and let her know that wasn’t the way it was and explain the situation the way Kelly explained it to me.

Hopefully there would come a time very soon when they would be able to come together and smooth everything out. My family had always been the most important thing to me, and I wanted to bring Kelly and Willa into that closeness rather than have them be a separate entity.

We got to the house, and Kelly reached in for the diaper bag while I got Willa out of her car seat. I still wasn’t one hundred percent confident in that maneuver yet. She was super wiggly when trying to move her from the seat into my arms, and the fear of dropping her was a very real thing. I didn’t think I’d ever be able to get over it if she slipped out of my hands and got hurt. So, I was working on a move that would basically swing her out of her seat and up against my chest so I could pin her in place before she had much of a chance to wiggle. I hadn’t perfected it yet, but I was hoping for a lot more practice.

“Are you ready?” I asked her.

Willa grabbed my face with her chubby little hands and squeezed my cheeks, then gave me a wet kiss. I laughed so I didn’t cry. We were getting closer and closer as the days went by, and my heart told me when she grew up, she wouldn’t remember a time without me in her life. That’s all I could hope for. I never wanted her to think about me and wonder why I wasn’t there for her.

We walked into the house, and I called out for my parents.

“We’re all back here, son,” Dad shouted back from the living room.

I brought her through the house, remembering the last night I was here. It was so different that day as I stalked through my childhood home angry, frantic and not knowing how I was supposed to be reacting to the news I might be a father. Now I was back in the house carrying my little daughter and happier than I’d ever been. We got to the living room, and Kelly stopped short in the entryway. I could immediately see I was right about her not being prepared for the extent my parents were gearing up for having Willa in their home on a regular basis.

She stared wide-eyed at the play area set up in the living room. Set to the side of the fireplace, wide white plastic fencing created a large octagon of space cushioned by a thick rug. The fencing ensured Willa wouldn’t get too close to the sharp stone edge of the hearth and also contained the assortment of giant soft blocks, stuffed animals, and toys. Willa’s eyes lit up when she saw it.

“There’s my grandbaby!” Mom gushed, jumping up from the couch and rushing toward us. She extended her hands, then paused and looked at Kelly first, then me. “Can I hold her?”

“Of course,” I said as Kelly n
odded.

“Usurper!” Merry shouted playfully from the couch where she was leaned in much the same position as she was when I found her at their house.

She was laughing, and Mom waved her off before reaching for Willa. She scooped her out of my arms and danced her over to the play area, cooing and murmuring to her. She opened the gate and stepped into the play area, closing it behind her. As she settled down on the floor with Willa in her lap, Kelly dug in the diaper bag and pulled out Willa’s favorite baby doll. She brought it over, and Willa happily took it, cradling it to her. After a few seconds, she reached out for one of the new toys and showed it to her baby doll. Kelly smiled and went over to sit with Merry.

“I see you put clothes on today,” she teased. “That’s progress.”

“It was under duress,” Merry told her, still a touch cranky but mostly joking.

Quentin and I looked at each other, exchanging happy smiles. We really enjoyed seeing the women we cared about getting along so well. After a few minutes, Dad decided he wasn’t going to let Mom have all the fun and joined them on the floor in the play area. The four of us brothers laughed, but we were all touched by the scene. I knew they’d always wanted a daughter after they had their four boys, but it had never happened for them. Though they were much older now, Willa was a chance for them to experience some of what they’d dreamed of having with a daughter of their own.

That night went even better than I hoped it would. It definitely didn’t have the same feeling as the outdoor get-togethers at Quentin’s house, but it was nice all being together at our childhood home. Ever since Quentin started inviting us to his house, we didn’t really gather at our parents’ house except for on the holidays. I was glad to have the opportunity to bring Kelly here to spend time with all of them without the added pressure of a holiday. That would all come soon enough, and she would get to see what it was like to celebrate the season with the chaos that was my family. I honestly couldn’t wait.

But I didn’t think about that too much. For that night I just wanted to be able to enjoy the moment and relish in watching my family grow and knit tighter together right in front of me. Something clicked in Mom, and the coldness disappeared. I was equally relieved for Kelly and for the fact that it meant I didn’t need to have a sit-down with her. The openness allowed Kelly to talk about Willa and her family without having to be uncomfortable about drifting into any sensitive topics. Everything was out now, and we could talk it through.

She happily filled my parents in on Willa’s infanthood all the way up to her most recent pediatrician checkup, and Mom interjected throughout with facts about me and how we lined up.

“Is your sister coming back soon?” Merry asked. “I didn’t get a chance to meet her.”

“None of us did,” Mom pointed out. “We’d love to.”

Kelly smiled, her cheeks going slightly pink.

“She’s hoping to come back soon. She loves it here, too, so I have a feeling it won’t be long until she makes the leap,” she told them.

“I also want you to meet Pam,” I said. Kelly looked over at me and smiled, then took my hand, giving it an appreciative squeeze. “She’s Kelly’s next-door neighbor who takes care of Willa during the day. Kind of a third grandma.”

It was important for me to get that out there so Mom knew about her. I knew there might be a little bit of jealousy, but she would get over it quickly. Mom was still up at the office most days of the week, so it wasn’t like she’d be able to take care of Willa every day anyway. We would make sure she would get plenty of opportunity to spend time with her grandbaby on the weekends, and that would make everything better.

Wrapping my arm around Kelly, I kissed her head and took a moment just to breathe her in. I couldn’t believe this was my life. I might have stumbled into it, but it was better than anything I could have planned, and I couldn’t wait to see what was next.

  Epilogue

Darren - A few weeks later

More than a few people I talked to about it told me I should wait. If one of them had told me they were in the same situation and making this decision, I would have told them to wait, but that wasn’t going to happen. I felt like I’d already waited far more than enough, and I wasn’t going to wait around anymore. Just a few weeks after the dinner at my parents’ house, it was moving day. Kelly and Willa were leaving their little duplex apartment and coming to live with me in my house. There was more than enough room for them, and I wanted us to be together all the time rather than bouncing back and forth.

In a couple of weeks, our property was going to gain even more fun and laughter as well. Before I even asked Kelly to move in with me, I started the process of renovating a two-story, three-car garage that sat in my backyard into an apartment for Pam. She was officially now Grandma Pam to Willa and the rest of us, and there was no way we were going to leave her behind. I had been a little nervous to tell my mother about the move, but she took it extremely well. Not only was she not upset or jealous about it, but she offered to help decorate when it was finished so it would be ready to welcome the woman who had made so much a difference in Kelly and Willa’s lives.

This was exactly what I wanted, and there was nothing that was going to stop me. Kelly and I had finally had the talk we needed to and realized we were more than on the same page when it came to our hopes for our future together. No matter what anybody told us or who thought we might be moving too fast, we were both completely sure of each other and knew this was what we wanted. We’d already lost too much time, and we weren’t willing to give up any more of it.

But I wasn’t ready yet to say everything was perfect or that I had everything I wanted. There was one more thing I needed, and that was going to happen soon. I’d already started looking for the perfect ring for Kelly. I knew she couldn’t wear one on her hand while she was working. It was too dangerous and could cause serious injury if she caught it on one of the machines. But I still wanted her to have the absolute perfect engagement ring and decided I would get her a chain to go with it. That way she could wear it around her neck when she was working in the garage, then put it on her hand when she wasn’t.

It wasn’t going to be a total surprise. We’d been talking about marriage, so I knew she was going to say yes. We both wanted to have a solid, stable home for Willa. That didn’t stop me from wanting to plan an incredible proposal that would show her just how much I loved her and how excited I was to have her as my wife. I planned on returning the note to her, telling her it had been my good-luck charm all along, but now that she was back, I didn’t need it anymore.

I couldn’t wait to see the look on her face when I asked her and to talk about everything. Our wedding. Our honeymoon. Maybe even trying for another baby. But I figured all that should wait until after Merry gave birth, which would be any day now. There was no need to steal her thunder.

On her first morning living in the house, I lay beside Kelly and gazed down at her. She was so beautiful, and I felt so utterly at ease with her. It was a sense of wholeness and happiness I never thought I would experience. I couldn’t believe I could be that content with my life. Three years before when I was so shy and unsure, I never could have imagined Kelly would become everything to me. Now I was so glad I found her. And so glad the Universe decided we deserved a second chance. This time, I wasn’t letting go.

  Book Three - Millionaire Crush

  1

  Vince

One of these days, my brothers and I were going to come up with a different way to celebrate winning races. Or console ourselves for losing races. Or celebrate birthdays. Or engagements. Or… pretty much anything in life. We were going to find something else to do rather than gather up at the same old bar and sit around the same old table drinking beer and eating massive piles of heart-clogging food.

I pulled into the parking lot, and before I even opened my door, I heard my other brothers whooping and hollering as they headed across the gravel toward the bar. So, maybe chances of us finding a d
ifferent way to celebrate were pretty slim. Quentin performed an enthusiastic jump into the air and nearly crashed into the ground at landing. I laughed. I guess it wasn’t so bad to have this tradition.

It all started with our father, years ago, when he was still young. Then he passed the torch over to Quentin, who spent time at the bar socializing. When he took over the racing company for our parents, celebrations for winning races traveled to the well-worn barstools and cozy booths. As the oldest brother of the four of us, that put him in the position of introducing each of us to the bar in turn. As soon as we turned twenty-one, he ushered us in and we became a part of the tradition. Now, with the baby of the family, Darren, integrated into the fold, this was a place where all four of us could spend time together.

Dad didn’t find his way in as much as he used to. He liked to say the bar went with Freeman Racing. It was a package deal. And now that he was all gray hair and grandbabies, he didn’t need to be out carousing with the younger folk. Of course, he was far more salt-and-pepper than he was gray, and most people would be hard-pressed to find people anywhere near his age who had half the energy he did. Besides, he and Mom never really left the company. They might have said they were handing it over to Quentin and retiring, but that didn’t actually happen.

Mom was up at the compound every day, and Dad was there most of the time as well. When he wasn’t, he was most likely still doing something having to do with racing, whether it was working with customers for the custom-bike business he ran on the side or working with Quentin’s wife, Merry, on the next big marketing idea. Merry was a force of nature. She’d blown into the company and instantly made her mark. She’d transformed the company’s image, our popularity, and my brother’s heart.
