The Housewife Is an Immortal Cultivator
Page 9
Lang Jie wanted to keep in contact with Xue Yan. He was worried that his wife would have nothing to do. After all, she would always just wait for him to arrive every day.
"Wow… love sure is going strong, huh?", Yang Wei looked over at his phone and teased Lang Jie, who immediately covered his phone screen.
"Shoo… don't read other people's messages!", Lang Jie glared at Yang Wei, who just laughed at him in response.
"Okay, okay, whatever. You continue being all sweet with your wife. If I find a girlfriend, we'll be even sweeter to each other than you two, mark my words!", Yang Wei told him. There seemed to be a hint of jealousy in his voice.
"Sure, sure. You're still far from being able to do that. Learn to talk to girls first before you speak that way.", Lang Jie retorted with a laugh. Yang Wei felt a bit sad after hearing that since it was true.
Yang Wei let out a sigh.
"Don't worry. When we finish work, I'll gather all my courage and look for a woman!", Yang Wei confidently announced to Lang Jie, whose laugh only became louder as he heard the man who became as stiff as a rock when he approached Xue Jin earlier say that he was going to look for a partner.
"Tsk. Whatever… I'll show you!", Yang Wei took out his phone and started for techniques on how to talk to women.
After Lang Jie finished laughing, he looked back at his phone and realized that he still hasn't sent the message.
As soon as he hit send, the same ringtone that he heard earlier came from Xue Jin's direction. He took another peek and saw that she was still smiling at her phone.
'Wow, what a weird coincidence.', he thought to himself as he leaned back on his chair. Moments later, his phone vibrated.
"I'm just sitting here and relaxing. Don't worry darling, if I ever get bored, I'll just look at our photos or watch some television. I'll go out if there really is nothing else to do."
Xue Yan's message made Lang Jie feel great. Lang Jie wondered if he saved humanity in his past life since that would be the only plausible reason why he was able to get Xue Yan to marry him.
"Okay! But don't hesitate to tell me if there's anything you want okay?"
Lang Jie sent another message.
*DING*
Lang Jie immediately looked towards Xue Jin, who was once again smiling while looking at her phone.
'Three in a row… there's no way, right?', Lang Jie thought as he looked back at his phone, and then back towards Xue Jin.
As soon as Xue Jin put down her phone, Lang Jie's phone started vibrating.
"Okay! Thanks a lot, darling! Work hard and stay safe, okay? I love you so much!"
Lang Jie still felt happy as he read his wife's message, but he was still a bit freaked out by the earlier coincidences.
Yang Wei noticed that Lang Jie kept glancing towards a seat further away from them. He took a peek and saw that the woman sitting there was Xue Jin.
"Dude… you're married. She's also married. You should stop…", Yang Wei sternly told his friend to uphold his morals.
"N-no… it's not that.", Lang Jie responded.
"Every time I send a message to my wife, her phone rings. It's been three times.", Lang Jie added. Yang Wei looked at him with a confused look. He took a peek at Xue Jin, who looked as if she was just calmly relaxing on her seat.
As Xue Yan sat down on her seat, her disguise looked incredibly calm and collected, but inside, she was panicking hard.
'Why do they keep staring at me? Did they find out?'
Xue Yan started to feel sweat running down her body. She tried thinking of other reasons why they would continue to peek at her, until suddenly…
*DING*
'Crap!'
Xue Yan finally realized that her phone made a huge noise whenever she received a message. She became completely used to not putting her phone on silent since she always loved hearing the sound of her phone ring as her husband messages her. She's been doing that for many years, so it wasn't a surprise that she forgot.
She immediately put her phone on silent. She could still feel the prickling gazes of the two behind her.
Suddenly, her phone started vibrating wildly. She looked at what caused it and saw that her husband was trying to video call her.
She immediately turned her phone off. The two prickling gazes felt even sharper than before. She honed her senses and tried to listen in on their conversation.
"There's no way that Xue Jin has your wife's phone."
"I mean, how could so many coincidences happen at once?"
"Dude, if there's a slim chance that a Gamma-Ray Burst from space could suddenly wipe us out at any moment, I'd also believe that there's a chance that everything was just a coincidence!"
Xue Yan offered her thanks towards Yang Wei silently as she turned her phone back on. Lang Jie seemed to have sent tons of spam, trying to see if Xue Jin's phone would start ringing.
She immediately dispersed more qi, covering a larger area around her. She made it look as if Xue Jin was resting on her seat with her eyes closed, but under the illusion she made, she was responding to her husband's endless texts.
More and more video calls started coming from Lang Jie. She immediately texted her husband.
"Darling… I'm in the bath... Do you really want to see me naked that much…?"
As soon as she sent the message, the endless calls and messages stopped. The prickling gazes from behind Xue Yan also ceased, which made her breathe out a sigh of relief.
As everything started to calm down, the plane's speakers suddenly played a tune, followed by an announcement.
"Ladies and gentlemen, please turn off any devices as we are about to take off."
Xue Yan relaxed and leaned back on her chair, trying to make herself as comfortable as possible. It was only the start of the business trip and it was already so hectic, which made her feel tired.
As Xue Yan closed her eyes, she let out a sigh as she muttered to herself:
"I should've just listened to him and stayed home…"
CHAPTER 10 – “NOTHING WILL STOP THE IMMORTAL HOUSEWIFE FROM STALKING HER HUSBAND!”
"We have now arrived at our destination. Thank you for flying with us!"
The announcement filled the ears of all the passengers on the plane. It was a very uneventful flight for our cast of characters. Lang Jie and Xue Yan both exchanged messages until Lang Jie fell asleep. Xue Yan meditated as soon as Lang Jie stopped replying to her messages. Yang Wei spent most of his time researching ways on how to pick up women.
As soon as the doors opened, Xue Yan immediately made her way towards the exit. She needed to be ahead of her husband since it would be safer than stalking them from behind.
She made her way outside the airport in record time. On her way out, she spotted a man holding a sign with Lang Jie and Yang Wei's names.
"Fluttering Ghost Steps!"
In the blink of an eye, Xue Yan was behind the man.
"Please bear with it for a while…", Xue Yan said as she rested her palm on the man's head. Before the man could react, he felt his consciousness slowly fade away.
"Soul Searching Technique!"
The man's memories came surging in towards Xue Yan's mind. She searched for where Lang Jie will stay, as well as his schedule for the next few days if he knew it.
It didn't take long before Xue Yan finally found the information she was looking for.
"Purple Lotus Hotel…"
Xue Yan immediately felt displeasure as soon as she found out where Lang Jie was going to stay. She knew that it wouldn't be easy getting in the hotel, as the business was being run by the Purple Lotus Clan.
During her last Heavenly Tribulation, the Purple Lotus Clan's patriarch personally came to lead multiple other martial artists to ambush her. It's safe to say that Xue Yan didn't have a very friendly relation with their clan, but despite seeing the difficulties ahead of her, she was still willing to finish what she came for.
Her determination was nothing to be scoffed at. She was ready to d
o anything just to enjoy stalking her husband. After all, she thought of this as a vacation. She felt that the few hours of annoyance she'll face is worth the happiness of watching another side of her husband that she's never seen.
Other than the location of where he'll be staying, she couldn't find anything else about her husband. As soon as she finished, she immediately let the man go and used Fluttering Ghost Steps and left before anyone noticed.
Moments after, Lang Jie and Yang Wei came walking out of the airport. They immediately spotted a sign with their names on it and approached the guy holding it.
"Thank you so much for waiting… I'm Yang Wei, and this is Lang Jie.", Yang Wei's business mode activated. He politely bowed towards the man as he introduced himself, along with his co-worker. Lang Jie followed his lead and bowed towards the man as well.
The man didn't seem to notice them. He was staring straight ahead with a blank expression on his face.
"Umm, hello?", Yang Wei tried waving his hands in front of the man, who didn't seem to react. He lightly tapped the man's shoulder, which made him jump in surprise.
"Ah! Oh…", the man was startled. He felt like he was in a dream for a few seconds before suddenly coming back to reality. He noticed the two men standing in front of him.
"Ah, are you two Lang Jie and Yang Wei?", the man asked them.
The two men looked at each other in confusion. They had just introduced themselves a few seconds ago, but maybe the man just didn't hear them.
"Yes… yes, we are.", Yang Wei politely answered him.
"Great! Come! Follow me.", the man immediately slowly walked towards the parking area. Lang Jie and Yang Wei obediently followed him, but they both were still confused as to why the man spaced out earlier. They assumed that maybe he was just stressed out.
As soon as all of them got into the vehicle, the man immediately started making small talk.
"Quite the long flight, huh?", the man asked the two seated comfortably behind them. The both of them had ragged looks on their faces. Yang Wei had already been out of the country before, so he already expected the fatigue that came from a long flight. Lang Jie, however, was completely unaware that a flight could be that tiring. Even though he slept for most of the flight, he was still hit with jet lag as soon as they arrived.
"Yeah…", Yang Wei responded. Both of them were clearly tired.
"You two should get some rest. The hotel is still a bit further away. It's around a 30-minute drive on the way there from the airport.", the man told the two as he started driving.
"Okay, will do. Thanks a lot.", Yang Wei did all the talking since Lang Jie was in no state to talk at all.
The man turned on the radio. As the man tried to look for a radio channel the two passengers could listen to as they rested, he stumbled upon a channel that played a song from his favorite idol group.
"Signal bonae, signal bonae. I must let you know…"
The radio played the song for a bit, but the man shook his head as he realized that he had to find music that the tired passengers could sleep to.
As soon as he changed the channel, Yang Wei immediately leaned forward.
"Put it back to the previous channel!", Yang Wei exclaimed. The man driving was shocked as he heard the passenger's request.
"Are you perhaps a fan as well?", the man asked Yang Wei, who nodded and gave him a smile in response.
"Another man of culture, I see…", a smile formed on the man's face as he turned the radio channel back towards the one that played the song he wanted to listen to.
"They're the best, right?", Yang Wei happily asked the man. This was the first time he was able to talk to another fan, which made him feel excited.
"They are! I had the luxury of being able to go to their concert once…", the man bragged about his experience watching the group perform live.
"Oh my goodness! Really?! What was it like?!", Yang Wei's voice got louder and louder as they continued to talk about the girl group that they both idolized.
Everyone was having a great time, except for Lang Jie. The voices of the two other people in the car made his head throb even more, but he couldn't bear to interrupt their conversation since they seemed to be having fun. It would also be quite rude since they had only just met the man driving.
As the two happily talked about their identical interest and sang along to some of the songs that played on the radio, Lang Jie suffered in the corner, hoping that they arrive at the hotel as soon as possible.
Xue Yan arrived at the Purple Lotus Hotel. On the way there, she removed her disguise because if another cultivator noticed the qi surrounding her as she approached them, they might mistake it as her being ready to battle.
She noticed that the security around the area was quite tight. The hotel was surrounded by a large wall with a few large pillars on them. At first glance, the pillars looked like it was just there for decoration, but as Xue Yan took a closer look, she noticed that it was a set-up for a defensive array.
Xue Yan sighed as she realized that stalking her husband wasn't as easy as she thought it would be. At first, she thought that she could just waltz in and made the other party know that she wasn't there for any sort of conflict. If that didn't work, she would just intimidate them since her level was far above even their patriarch. But who would've thought that the hotel itself was the clan's main headquarters?
"Aren't sects usually built in secluded places such as mountaintops? What are you doing building it in the middle of a populated city…", Xue Yan grumbled.
She didn't want to use qi to check how many members of the Purple Lotus Clan were in the hotel since the members could sense the qi and come greet her. Also, if the hotel was their main headquarters, there was a high chance that the patriarch, who tried to kill her a few years ago, was inside.
"I guess I have no other choice…"
Xue Yan used the Fluttering Ghost Steps to make a considerable distance away from the hotel. She didn't want the people inside to notice her qi. She closed her eyes and try to locate her husband's location.
After a while, she finally found him. At the speed they were moving at, they were still around 20 minutes away from the hotel.
"Just enough time for me to deal with them…", Xue Yan immediately moved back towards the hotel. She had already made her decision. In 20 minutes, she was going to force the entire Purple Lotus Clan to cooperate with her. If they refuse, she will erase the entire sect from the face of the earth.
Xue Yan slowly approached the hotel gates while slowly letting some of her qi flow outside, which made the cultivators in the hotel notice her presence. As they were moving to intercept her, they started to feel terror as soon as she entered their territory.
As she took the very first step past the hotel gates, she immediately let her qi go wild. Normally, she restrains her qi to the point that it would take an extremely high-leveled cultivator to notice that she was a martial artist. This time, she removed all of the restraints. She felt the overwhelming amount of qi flow from her dantian towards her meridians. She let some of it leak in order to alert everyone in the Purple Lotus Clan.
For her, the qi she was intentionally leaking was a measly amount compared to what she had, but for normal cultivators, the amount of qi was an unfathomable amount.
The defensive array that surrounded the hotel immediately activated as Xue Yan's qi went wild. Thin strands of purple light started moving in the air and descending at certain spots in the hotel. One of them was moving towards her.
She didn't even bother resisting as she let the light approach her. The light continually grew bigger and bigger until it was enough to completely envelope Xue Yan.
Xue Yan smiled as she felt that her blood boil. She lived a peaceful life for the past few years, so it's been a while since she's had a taste of battle.
As the purple light swallowed her body whole, she felt her body being moved.
Moments later, the light dissipated.
At first glance, nothing chang
ed. The scenery around her didn't change, but the place looked completely deserted, except for the people standing in formation at the entrance who were clearly waiting for her. She had been teleported to an alternate dimension. Perhaps it was a way to protect the mortals who were enjoying their time back at the hotel.
Most of them had terrified expressions on their faces as they looked at the woman in front of them. In the eyes of a mortal, the woman looked incredibly beautiful, but in the eyes of a cultivator, the woman was a monster. None of them could fathom the difference between themselves and the woman in front of them, except for one.
