Before he could finish his sentence, Xue Yan flicked a tiny ball of light towards him, which bounced off his forehead, knocking him down. She did indeed believe that a cultivator should only use their bodies and nothing else in combat, which is why she was never a fan of using weapons, including swords.

Even if she was a fan, she had never seen anyone use a giant sword and fly in the skies on it. It seemed extremely inefficient, so she doubts that anyone ever even had one. She thought that all of the stories about flying swords were probably just made up, but even so, she wanted to impress her husband, so she went ahead and conjured one.

As soon as they got on the sword, it started floating and made its way towards the hotel. A thin layer of Xue Yan's qi covered the entirety of the sword, concealing them from the eyes of normal people.

Wen Cheng and the others in the seaport looked at the two of them as they flew away. As soon as they were out of sight, Wen Cheng immediately shouted in frustration.

"Learn to keep your hands off your husband in public, you old hag!", Wen Cheng felt his jealousy get the best of him. He had never felt the urge to have a wife before, but as he watched the two of them interact, he felt incredibly jealous.

  "That's right!

"Yeah! Even if you have a lover, you should be considerate towards the single people!"

The others in the area also vented out their frustrations, even the ones from the Heavenly Duan Sect.

"When I get out of here, I'll find myself a beautiful wife and show them!", the leader of the six-man squad exclaimed.

"That's only if you CAN get out…", Wen Cheng shot him a glare since he seemed to have forgotten that they went against the Purple Lotus Clan. The frustrated feelings of the single men towards the married couple who publicly displayed their affection seemed to have created a feeling of unity for him, making him forget that he was still in enemy territory. He immediately lowered his head and felt ashamed for what he had just shouted.

"Don't worry. Even if you don't manage to get out, I'll be the one to do that for you…", Wen Cheng smiled towards the man, who looked up at him. Even if their clans had offended each other, they seemed to have a mutual goal. Little did they know that that mutual goal was the start of a great alliance between the two clans, but that is a story for another day.

As the married couple soared through the skies, the dark clouds that covered the entire area that day slowly started to disperse, revealing a beautiful clear sky. It was as if the storm had passed just as the obstacles that blocked the married couple's way has been cleared, which made it seem incredibly romantic, but in reality, Xue Yan simply decided to disperse the storm since she found it annoying.

And that is how the married couple overcame their first crisis.

"So, are you still going to resist?"

Xue Yan's voice echoed in a dark room underneath the hotel. In front of her, a man was tied to a chair and gagged. The man had been there ever since he woke up after getting knocked out at the beach. He was only trying to pick up the beautiful woman, but the next thing he knew, he was now being held captive by the woman herself.

Xue Yan arrived in the middle of the night, a few hours after the incident with Lang Jie. She had been slapping the man repeatedly while asking him the same question, which she would then refute.

"So… in which way are you better than my husband? HUH?"

Xue Yan had an angry expression on her face. The veins on her forehead became visible as it started to bulge.

"W-well, I have a better body compared to hi-"

Before he could finish his sentence, Xue Yan gave him another slap to the cheek. Despite the woman looking incredibly fragile, her slap made the skin on his face feel like it was about to fly off.

"In what standards do you think your body is better than his, huh?! In my eyes, my husband's slightly chubby figure is perfect!", she angrily berated the man.

  "W-well… I'm taller than hi-"

Once again, he received another slap before he could finish his sentence.

"So, does being taller make you better than him, huh?! So because you're taller than me, do you think you're better than me, HUH?!", she seemed to be even angrier. The man was afraid that she would move on from slapping and do something even more horrible to him. The slaps were already incredibly painful, so he didn't want to think about what she would do if she got even more angrier.

"I-I'm sorry! I misspoke earlier… your husband is better than me in every way!", he bowed his head towards Xue Yan, hoping that his words would finally set him free.

"Good… at least you've learned your lesson…", Xue Yan seemed pleased as he heard the man's words.

"If you ever make my Lang Jie feel uncomfortable again, you know what's going to happen next.", she glared at him and slid a finger on her neck, telling him that his life would be forfeit if he offended her again.

"Yes ma'am!", the man once again bowed as he gave in to Xue Yan. As he watched Xue Yan leave, he immediately thought that beautiful women such as her are extremely scary.

As his restraints fell off of him, he made a run for it and escaped. No one was around to stop him, so he easily made his getaway. As he finally found a safe place with plenty of people around, he sat down and rested. The experience certainly scarred him, which made him realize that he had to implement a change in his lifestyle.

As he looked at the beautiful women passing by, he got reminded of Xue Yan and how scary she was. He then shook his head in disdain and muttered to himself:

"From today onwards, I'm going to lower my standards…"

CHAPTER 16 – “THE HOUSEWIFE REPAYS THE FAVORS DONE TOWARDS HER HUSBAND”

Underneath the Purple Lotus Hotel, the heads of the Purple Lotus Clan have gathered once again to hold a meeting about the incident that had happened. All of them seemed tense as an uninvited guest was sitting down on the patriarch's seat, but they couldn't dare to point it out. They knew that they were no match for her.

Xue Yan had a serious look on her face while the discussion was ongoing. She wanted to know how the Purple Lotus Clan would deal with their enemy.

"So, regarding Lang Jie's kidnapping, we now know that the culprit was the Heavenly Duan Sect, but how should we deal with it?", Wen Cheng paced around the room, trying to prove his authority despite having his seat taken over.

"What if we start off by hitting them financially? It's hard to function as a sect nowadays without resources, so if we try to stop their flow of income, they'll start to show weakness, and that's when we strike!", one of the heads suggested. Wen Cheng thought that it was a good idea, but as soon as he glanced at Xue Yan's reaction to the idea, he knew that it was no good.

"No, that'll take too long. Anything else?", Wen Cheng shot down the first suggestion.

"Ah, what if we do a stealth mission? Even if it is risky, we can deal massive damage to them by assassinating someone with a high position, or just kidnap them just like what they did to us.", another man raised a suggestion.

Xue Yan shook her head in dissatisfaction as she listened to their ideas. Wen Cheng saw this and also started shaking his head.

"That won't do… we need something else…", Wen Cheng shot the idea down as well. Many more suggestions followed, but as Wen Cheng saw that Xue Yan didn't seem to like their ideas, he refused them outright.

The heads of the Purple Lotus Clan looked at Xue Yan and the patriarch in dismay. All of them were thinking the same thing:

  'Is she our new patriarch?'

The room was filled with silence for a while, until another person voiced his opinion.

"What if we just attack them straight on? Even if the cultivation level of their patriarch is higher than any of us, we have the power of numbers, so we should be able to put up a fight!", he suggested. The other heads looked at him with an angry expression. If they fought the Heavenly Duan Sect head-on, then they would suffer many consequences. Even if they won the battle, they would still suffer many casualties. Even if the Heavenly Duan
Sect is smaller than the Purple Lotus Clan, they were still a formidable group.

Wen Cheng also disliked the idea, but as he saw Xue Yan's contented expression, he had no choice but to give in.

"Okay, let's do that…", Wen Cheng said with a sigh. Everyone in the room except Xue Yan looked at him with surprise, including the one who suggested it. He thought that he should just throw out any idea he had since the room was getting silent and the others had no more suggestions. He never expected his idea to be chosen.

The other heads tried to convince the patriarch to reconsider, but the patriarch took a sturdy stance. He closed his eyes and put on a serious expression while intimidating the others with his qi by making it take on a solid form. The other members of the clan looked in shock as they saw a physical manifestation of their patriarch's qi.

"P-patriarch! You're now able to manifest your qi?! You just broke through a couple of days ago! Don't tell us you managed to break through again?!", one of them asked. If a cultivator managed to make their qi take on a physical form, that means that the cultivator was at least three steps in the Divine Realm, since that is when the qi and the mind fully become one.

  Wen Cheng nodded.

"Indeed. I have broken through the first and second step of the Divine Realm yesterday with the help of this Venerable One here.", Wen Cheng revealed his level to the other heads, which made them all stare at him in awe. If their patriarch was indeed three steps in the Divine Realm, then he was now equal in level to the Heavenly Duan Sect's patriarch.

The heads of the Purple Lotus Clan looked at Xue Yan and thought:

'If she could easily help their patriarch break through two levels in one night, what level is she in…?'

Xue Yan saw that everyone was looking at her intently and immediately realized what they were all thinking. She stood up and let her qi freely flow out from her body. The overflowing qi made it look like she was being set on fire by a white flame.

As the heads of the Purple Lotus Clan watched her qi flow out from her body, they were all shocked at the sheer amount that she let her body leave. The amount of qi that overflowed from her body in a second was already more than all of the qi they had individually. They thought that if she was overflowing that much qi, then it shouldn't be long before she stops it from leaking, but their expectations slowly shattered.

Five minutes passed. Thirty minutes passed. An hour passed.

Xue Yan continued leaking her qi without showing any signs of weakness whatsoever. Everyone around her, including Wen Cheng, looked at her in awe as they tried to think of what level she was in.

'Is this the power of the Immortal Emperor Realm? It's only three realms above me, yet my power seems to only be the size of an atom when compared to her…', Wen Cheng realized that Xue Yan was indeed a monster. He never thought that she was strong. In his lifetime, he had met three immortals, one of them being Xue Yan before she broke through.

Back then, her power was evenly matched with the other two. He saw a battle between two people in the Immortal Realm before, and he thought that the power they had was unfathomable. But as he compared it to the power that Xue Yan had now, the powers that he saw from the two Immortal Realm cultivators' battle seemed like a joke.

As Xue Yan saw everyone's reaction, she thought that she had displayed her power enough. Everyone fully showed their respect towards her as they saw how powerful she was.

Wen Cheng cleared his throat as everyone in the room stood in silence. He realized that they were now going off track.

"Ehem… so, back to the topic.", Wen Cheng clapped his hands to gather everyone's attention.

"When should we make our move?", he asked everyone, who didn't seem to know the answer to the question. They haven't been to a large scale battle for so long, and the times have completely changed ever since their last one, so they weren't sure on what kind of preparations to make and how long it would take.

Seeing as everyone was silent, Xue Yan offered a suggestion herself.

"How about now? This Venerable One has time since my husband is still taking a rest since he is quite tired.", Xue Yan smiled towards the others as she offered her suggestion. As crazy as it sounded, the others did not seem to reject the idea. After all, they knew that with Xue Yan by their side, victory was already secured, especially if their strongest cultivator was only on par with their patriarch.

"I agree!", Wen Cheng immediately responded as soon as he heard Xue Yan say she had time. If she was going to accompany them, then the battle would be a piece of cake.

"Your husband must be quite tired after the incident yesterday… we will make sure to punish those who dared to disturb him!", Wen Cheng continued and talked about Xue Yan's husband since he knew that Xue Yan would easily agree to anything as long as it's for her husband.

"Erm… he is quite tired, but it isn't because of yesterday's incident…", Xue Yan blushed as she thought about what happened after the incident. As soon as they got back to the hotel, Lang Jie kept making her show him her powers. As he saw the amazing things that Xue Yan was capable of, he couldn't help but continuously compliment her, which made Xue Yan feel incredibly happy. The happy mood slowly turned into a romantic one, and the romantic mood turned into a physically exhausting mood that lasted for the entire night.

Xue Yan was fine since she was powerful, but Lang Jie was only a normal human, so the amount of fatigue he felt was incredibly high.

"Well, your husband has to rest. He isn't one of us after all…", Wen Cheng nodded his head as if he understood, but he was completely clueless as to why her husband was tired. Despite being the patriarch of such a large clan, he was completely oblivious when it came to certain matters.

"So now we have to start preparations. The problem now is how we are going to get there.", Wen Cheng let out the first problem in his mind in order for all of them to think of a solution together.

"The number of members in our clan is far too much for our private airlines to transport all at once. Maybe if we rent a few more planes we could bring three-fourths of our forces with us, making our numbers identical to theirs.", one of the heads suggested.

Wen Cheng thought his idea was plausible, but their group was still suffering from the financial setback of forcibly purchasing a company, so he wasn't sure how many planes he could secure in such a small amount of time.

"How about we travel by sea? Two or three large ships could easily carry us.", another member voiced his opinion.

Wen Cheng knew that his idea was the most sensible one, but it was far too slow. Traveling between countries by sea takes an absurd amount of time, which he knew Xue Yan didn't like. The fastest way they could get there is by plane, which only takes around three hours, which should be enough time before her husband wakes up, but before he could decide, Xue Yan immediately spoke up.

"All of your suggestions take too much time. Don't you have any artifacts that could instantly teleport us there?", Xue Yan angrily asked. Even if her husband wouldn't be waking up for a while, she still wanted to get back as soon as possible to prepare for when he wakes up. She also liked to watch him sleep from time-to-time since Lang Jie had a habit of talking in his sleep, which Xue Yan found incredibly entertaining to listen to.

The members of the Purple Lotus Clan looked at each other while scratching their heads.

"W-well, we do... but it can only take one person with it, and we only have ten of them.", one of them responded.

"Ten is more than enough. There's only eight of us here, so we only need eight.", Xue Yan happily responded as she heard that they did have artifacts that could save them a lot of time.

Everyone in the room except Wen Cheng looked at her with a look of confusion. They all thought of the same thing:

'Even if she's all-powerful, she couldn't possibly think that the eight of us could defeat the entire Heavenly Duan Sect?'

Wen Cheng let out a laugh as he saw the others' reactions.

"Let's do as the Venerable One says. Some
one go and quickly gather the artifacts.", Wen Cheng immediately told them the command, which the others were completely against. Other than Wen Cheng and Xue Yan, everyone else thought that what they were about to do was suicide.

Wen Cheng saw the looks of doubt on their faces and gave them all a gentle smile.

"Don't worry. The only people getting hurt today are the members of the Heavenly Duan Sect.", he tried to reassure the others, but it didn't work. They were up against more than a thousand people, yet they were only going to send eight people.

They all wanted to run away, but as they saw their patriarch's confident expression, they couldn't bear to leave him. After all, they were all members of the Purple Lotus Clan. If one of them decides to go to battle, the rest will wholeheartedly support him. Wen Cheng noticed that they had finally made their decisions and told them the same command.
