“Yeah, yeah, we’ll see about that. I could just haunt you until you bring me back. You’re not much of an exhibitionist—”
“Ew, Shep,” I complained as I hopped in the passenger seat. Graves climbed in the back, and Shepard threw it in reverse. I waved to Tamsin as we pulled around the driveway.
When we turned out on Mansion Lane, the giant ‘S’ filigree of the Shroud gates closed, and I couldn’t help thinking that one chapter of my life was over.
The worst of it was past us now.
Shep was sitting next to me again, just like old times. Graves was at my back, and he would be forever. “Here We Go Again” was blaring on the radio as we flew down the highway. As the sign for Farrow’s Square approached, I knew that while one chapter might be over, an even better one—and hopefully, much longer—was just beginning.
Eternity was a long fucking time.
Thankfully, I had someone to share it with—and Hostess cupcakes didn’t have a real expiration date.

What a rollercoaster it’s been. Three books in four months split between two brains may not seem like a huge task, but when you factor in illness, the holidays, death in both families, and just the general unpredictability of life, this was one monumental undertaking. One we wouldn’t have managed to accomplish without the strength of the other. A good co-author is equal parts therapist, cheerleader, and life partner. We were blessed to find all three in each other. #capygatorforlife
It’s mystifying that we managed to do it at all, except that there was something so special about this project it became a sort of escape when everything else went to shit. Salem is magic that way. Or maybe it was Graves. Or Esme (let’s be real, it was definitely Esme.) And the best part is, you guys love these characters as much as we do. As writers, we write because words are in our soul, but its’ you—the readers—who give those words wings and bring our stories to life. Thank you for going on this insane journey with us.

And last but never least, to our husbands, thanks for letting us ignore you for hours at a time while we sent voice clips and text messages trying to sort out the mess our characters made. There were probably days we had crazed looks in our eyes and a maniac obsession with the voices in our heads—okay there were absolutely days like that—but you have been champs. Thank you for waiting patiently for your wives to return to you.
