“Knock yourself out,” chuckled Ryker.
Even though I hadn't even sketched in the last few days, inspiration hit me like a ton of bricks as I set things up. I sketched out and started half a dozen different pictures and took tons of reference photos before the sunset, but once it started to go down, wow. The lights all over Half Moon came on as a gentle snow began to fall. I eagerly sketched the beautiful Christmas tree in the town park, then the different coastlines and the lights and the snow.
“You really don't mind hanging around while I do this?” I called to Ryker yet again.
“I have a book,” he replied, holding up a different book than he had before. “Besides, you’re my true mate, I would be happy to just sit and stare, but I didn’t want to bother you.”
I chuckled and went back to my panting. I finished up my latest sketch while he made dinner. We dragged the chairs and table into the most sheltered part of the deck, with a beautiful view.
“This is wonderful,” I said softly. “This might just be the best Christmas Eve ever.”
“I think it is,” Ryker said in agreement. “And I've lived through a lot of them.”
I laughed and smiled at him. How much had changed in just a few short days? “I love you.”
He smiled back. “I love you too. And I'm sorry.”
“For what?”
He gestured to the air. “You didn't want to paint in the snow on Christmas Eve.”
“Well, considering nothing tonight is what I was planning for Christmas Eve, I think I can stand a little snow.”
“So, why doesn't it snow in Frostbourg on Christmas Eve?” he asked.
“Well…” I said, trying to think how to simplify the legend that I had read a dozen times in my preparations for my trip. “The first prince of Frostbourg proposed on Christmas Eve, supposedly while it was snowing.”
He nodded.
“They were supposed to get married the following Christmas Eve, but… she never turned up.”
“What?!”
“No one ever saw her again. Nobody knows what happened,” I said. “It's a big, famous Frostbourg unsolved mystery. Anyway, they say that it hasn't snowed on Christmas Eve since the day he proposed, several hundred years ago.”
“That’s quite the tale.”
“I’ll tell you the whole thing someday,” I promised.
“I’d like that.”
We stood and we cleaned up together and brought the chairs inside.
“This place really is beautiful,” I said. “Thank you, for everything.”
“I'll take you to Frostbourg next year,” he promised.
“I'd like that.”
We kissed and he wrapped his arms around me, lifting me almost completely off the floor. I jumped playfully and hooked my legs over his hips, crossing my ankles behind him and forcing him to pick me up all the way.
He nuzzled my neck where he had bitten me when we claimed each other, sending a thrill of pleasure through me. I nipped him there gently in return, eliciting a moan of pleasure. For a moment I thought he was falling, but then he landed on the bed and pulled me down with him.
He tugged at my pants; I quickly undid the for him, and dropped them down to my ankles, shivering at the rush of cold air.
“It’s cold in here,” I said.
“Let's make it warmer,” Ryker teased, sliding off the bed and bending down to take my dick into his mouth.
I moaned and clutched the sheets, feeling myself grow harder as he sucked. His fingers expertly stroked across my balls and back behind them, one gently poked me and began to work its way in. I wiggled against it, grateful for the natural lubrication I produced now that I was an omega. In moments it felt as if he had slipped the entire digit inside. He planted a kiss right on the top of my dick, then kissed and tickled his way up my chest as he slid a second finger inside me. The tips of them brushed against something, sending a jolt of pleasure rushing through me. I bucked up against him with a cry.
He propped one of my legs up on his shoulder, slid out his fingers and quickly replaced them with his cock, pushing against me. I gasped as it slid in, there was just a little bit of discomfort as I stretched around it and then he was buried in me.
Thanks to the bond created when we claimed each other I could feel his pleasure in a strange sort of secondhand way, and it only enhanced my own. He rocked against me gently and we both groaned.
“You remember,” he teased, leaning down to give my ear a little nibble. “How I said our houses are pretty close together and the neighbors might hear you?”
I laughed. “As I recall, you said you didn't care.”
“I don't… but there are no neighbors here.”
I grinned at him and arched an eyebrow. “Challenge accepted.”
Ryker grabbed me by the hips, pulled completely out, and then slammed back in. I yelped, not quite expecting it, but any pain that the rough thrust caused was completely blocked out by the by the pleasure – both his and mine. I wrapped my legs around his butt and pulled him against me tightly, then released as he began to thrust in and out. It felt as if he was going harder and faster with each thrust. The bed rock in squeaked and I could hear the water lapping against the pilings and the wind blowing outside, rattling the shutters, but soon I couldn't hear anything except Ryker moaning and growling.
I braced myself to meet each thrust, helping him to go even harder and cried out as abruptly wrapped his hand around my dick and begin to stroke in time with his thrusts. I felt the pleasure building along with the urge to howl, so I gave in and threw back my head and howled in ecstasy. He did the same. Maybe it was my imagination, but our twin voices sound sounded less human and more wolf-like than I would have thought we were capable of.
He thrusts shortened quickly and I felt a tug as his knot grew too large to withdraw. Ryker adjusted his grip on me, fingernails scraping my thighs as he tugged me against him in short, rough jerks. I released him with one hand and wrapped it around myself, stroking almost as roughly as his thrusting.
The pleasure mounted and built and he wrapped his hand around mine, stroking with me as he fucked me. We came together, howling, our calls mixed with the winds from the ocean, maybe making their way to Half Moon, fueling the rumors about that the dogs who were supposedly guarding the wildlife refuge were actually wolves.
Ryker collapsed on top of me, knot still embedded deep within me and I lay there contently in his arms.
“God, I love you, Ryker,” I said.
He tightened his arms around me and nuzzled my neck. “I love you, Cody.”
5. Cody
I woke up with a start to see that Ryker was gently shaking my shoulder.
“Sorry, did I doze off?” I asked.
“Did you doze off?” Ryker laughed and bent down to press a gentle kiss to my lips. “Happy New Year,” he teased.
“Seriously,” I chuckled yawning. “What time is it?”
“See for yourself.”
He pointed to the TV. I looked over and saw that the ball had already dropped and everyone was celebrating and kissing.
“It was just nine o'clock,” I protested.
“That was before you sat on the couch and fell asleep.”
“I'm sorry,” I said, stretching and trying to shake off the fog from just waking up.
“Don't be, you were tired.”
“Yeah, I guess I was.”
I had to pee, so I headed into the bathroom and then came back out to find him in the kitchen, munching on a platter of cookies that his friend Ford had delivered.
“Oo, give me one of those. Almond, please,” I said.
Ryker handed one to me; I took a bite and then almost immediately spat it out as a foul taste filled my mouth.
“Cody?” Ryker asked in alarm
“Those almonds are bad or something,” I said, hurrying to the sink for a glass of water to get the taste out of my mouth.
“Really?” Ryker picked up my discarded cookie and took a bite. “It ta
stes fine to me.”
“Guess it was just that one almond.” I picked up another and sniffed it, then recoiled at the scent. “Oh, it smells awful.”
“Are you okay?” he asked in concern.
“Yeah,” I said. “Doesn't this smell bad to you?
I held up the cookie and he sniffed it, then shook his head.
“New shifter senses maybe?” I offered. I was still hungry for cookies, so I picked up a gingerbread one instead and took a bite. “Now this one is delicious!”
We stood there for a while and I soon became aware that Ryker was chuckling under his breath.
“What's funny?” I asked, finishing my cookie.
“I think,” he said with a small smile. “You're pregnant.”
“What? Why?”
“Well, you fell asleep at nine o'clock,” he said, ticking it off on a finger. “I think you've actually peed quite a bit the last couple of days. You think the almonds smell off. And…”
“And?” I prompted when he hesitated.
He looked down at the cookie in my hand. “How many cookies have you had?”
“These? This is my second one,” I said holding it up.
“Cody, honey,” he said, obviously fighting the urge to laugh. “You've been standing there for five minutes shoving gingerbread cookies in your mouth like that’s the last batch on Earth.”
“What?!” I looked down at the platter, and sure enough, the gingerbread cookies were decimated. “I ate them all!” I said, shocked.
“Most of them.”
“Maybe I am pregnant,” I said. Tears began to roll down my cheeks.
“Oh god,” Ryker gasped, rushing forward. “Were you not ready? I'm sorry! We should have been more careful, I should have used protection. I know I told you that omegas are pretty fertile, but…”
“No, no,” I said, waving my hand at him. “I'm happy! I'm…” I laughed and dropped the gingerbread cookie on the table. “I must be pregnant… I think I'm crying because I ate all the cookies,” I admitted.
“I'll buy you more,” Ryker promised.
“These?” I asked, picking up the gingerbread man.
“Those.”
“And no almonds.”
“Definitely no almonds! First thing in the morning.” Ryker laughed and kissed me. “As soon as the bakery opens.”
He was true to his word. When I rolled out of bed the next morning, he was nowhere to be seen. I went to the bathroom, then wandered down to the kitchen.
“Ryker?” I called.
I could tell somehow from our bond that he wasn't in the house, but at the same time, I just knew that he was safe. So rather than worry, I went to make myself a bowl of cereal. I ended up just eating it dry, straight out of the package. After a few handfuls I felt the urge to vomit. I stood over the toilet for a while, waiting, but it never came up.
I heard the door open and close.
“Ryker?”
“Oh, you're already up,” he said. “I assumed you would have slept in.”
I emerged from the bathroom, sheepishly. “I had to pee.”
Ryker chuckled. “So I see. Got you something.” He held up two bags, one in each hand. The scent of ginger filled the air and my mouth immediately watered.
“Yes!” I gasped. I crossed the room in a flash and practically tore the bag from his fingers as he laughed. I opened it to find the whole thing was packed with gingerbread cookies. “How many did you buy?” I asked, taking a bite of one. I moaned as the taste hit my tongue; it was still warm from the oven.
“Josh, heard me say I think you're craving these because you're pregnant, so he tripled my order, on the house. And I got you this too.” He extended the smaller plastic bag that I had ignored in favor of the cookies. “It’s a pregnancy test.” He pulled out the box and examined it. “It says you're supposed to take it early in the morning.”
“ Well, it's early,” I said. “I’ll just have a drink of water and I'll probably pee again.”
Sure enough, it wasn’t long before I felt the urge. I cried again, this time from joy when the pregnancy test came back positive.
“I guess I really am pregnant!” I gasped.
Ryker laughed in disbelief, then threw his arms around me. “We're having a baby!”
“This really was the best Christmas ever,” I said as he kissed me.
“You taste like gingerbread cookies,” he chuckled. “Guess I better have one if I want you to keep kissing me.” A wide grin crossed his face. “Right. I suppose I better call the doctor… and then… well, in the meantime I have a feeling you're going to be quite picky about what the nursery looks like. So, we better start planning now.”
He ushered me to the couch, sat me down, and then brought me a plate of gingerbread cookies and my sketchpad. I stared at the blank paper for a moment, feeling almost intimidated at the idea that I was about to sketch the nursery for my own child. What a whirlwind the last couple of weeks had been! What a wonderful, glorious whirlwind.
I knew exactly which room in the house would be the nursey, so I did a quick sketch of the dimensions, then paused and looked up a Ryker.
“Yes?” he said. settling down next to me with a cup of coffee.
“I'm glad my flight to Frostbourg got canceled.”
“We'll go next year,” he promised. He leaned forward and pressed his hand against gently against my stomach. “The whole family.”
