She looked down at the bed and the pile of blankets on top. “Well, I guess there is at least a pillow.” She looked over at me. “This will do, but I don’t have any clothes with me besides the ones on my body. I can’t sleep in jeans.”

I eyed the bag I had dropped on the floor. “You didn’t have anything else in that bag?”

She scoffed and shook her head. “No. I should have bought the sweatpants I had been eyeing if I would have known you were going to kidnap me.”

“I’m sure Kimber will have some clothes you can borrow.”

At least, I hoped she would. I knew if I ran Fancy back to her apartment that I wasn’t going to be able to get her to leave then.

Fancy pulled out her phone and typed out a message. Her phone dinged ten seconds later. “She said if I can find her bag then I can borrow some clothes.”

“Uh, I’m not sure Quinn would like you going into his room.”

Fancy rolled her eyes and strutted out of the room. “Quinn can suck on a rotten egg if he doesn’t like it. No way in hell I am going to sleep in jeans.”

I followed Fancy into Quinn’s room and watched as she headed straight toward a purple duffel bag in the corner. She rummaged through it and pulled out a pair of gray sweatpants and terry cloth shorts. “These will do for now.”

“You really need both of those?” She just needed enough for the night.

Fancy zipped up the duffel bag and dumped it on the floor. “No, but this way, Kimber won’t have any pajamas. It’s payback for her not coming to get me.”

“They were out of town, Fancy.”

“I know.” She flounced past me. “And I’m sure Quinn is going to be real crushed when Kimber doesn’t have any pants to wear to bed.” She beelined back to her room and spun around before I could get back in. “Where are you going?”

“I, uh, well, that is my room.”

She shook her head. “No, it’s not. At least, not as long as you make me stay here. It’s my room now.”

  “Fancy,” I warned.

She shook her head. “Nice try, dinosaur. Your butt isn’t sleeping in my bed.”

I had been looking forward to sleeping in an actual bed. Fancy was messing up that dream. “Come on.”

“Nope. You’re welcome to sleep on the floor, though. It looks like there are plenty of blankets you can sleep on.”

I growled and clenched my teeth. “I’ve been sleeping on the floor for three fucking weeks.”

She shrugged. “Then I guess you shouldn’t have made me come here because you could have been sleeping in this big ol’ bed tonight.”

“Fine,” I spat out. “I’ll sleep on the damn floor.” I could have just slept on the floor in the common room with the rest of the other guys, but I was damn tired of being woken up by snoring and farting the last three weeks. “You gotta go to the bathroom?”

  She nodded.

I led her to the bathroom that was at the other end of the hallway. “It’s not much right now, but it has running water, and it’s clean.”

“I don’t suppose the concierge left me a toothbrush and toothpaste, did he?” She peered into the bathroom.

“No, but you can borrow mine.”

She wrinkled her nose. “I’ll pass on the toothbrush sharing.”

“I have a new one.” I had been meaning to change it out with my old one, but Fancy was in luck that I hadn’t.

“Oh, in that case, I will totally take it.” She stepped into the bathroom, and I walked back to the bedroom. I rummaged through my bag and found the new toothbrush and toothpaste.

I knocked on the bathroom door.

She opened it a crack to just stick her hand out. “Gimme, gimme,” she chanted.

I put it in her hand, and she jerked it back and slammed the door shut. I leaned a hand against the doorframe and hung my head. How in the hell had I gotten into this mess?

Tonight, I was supposed to finally be in my own room with my own bed and now, Fancy had moved in and I was back to sleeping on the floor.

A sound like a vacuum came from the common room, and I smiled. Maybe I wasn’t going to have to sleep on the floor after all.

  Chapter Eleven

  It’s Fancy…

  Fancy

A washcloth and my face wash would have been nice, but I doubted Dyno would have that hidden away in his bag. I splashed water onto my face and did a half-assed job of rinsing all the dirt off from the day.

At least it was nice to be able to brush my teeth and feel somewhat human.

I was acting like a tad bit of a handful, but Dyno had it coming to him. I didn’t understand why I needed to stay at the clubhouse, and he was going to find out that I didn’t like it.

I walked back to his room and was surprised to see the door shut and what sounded like a vacuum on the other side. Was he vacuuming concrete?

“Dyno,” I called cautiously. I pushed open the door and was surprised to see Dyno on his knees next a half-blown up air mattress.

  “Sorry for the noise, doll.”

I rolled my eyes at the endearment but didn’t correct him. “I guess that is better than sleeping on the floor, huh?”

  He nodded. “It’ll do.”

I dumped my jeans and the terrycloth shorts on my bag.

Dyno worked on blowing up his bed, and I spread one of the blankets over the top of the mattress and then spread another one on top. “Does it get hot in here?” I yelled over the sound of the pump.

He turned off the pump and tested the firmness of the mattress. “Not really sure. It’s the first time I’m sleeping in here.”

“Oh, okay.” It was strange to be here for the inaugural first sleep in his new room. “I’ll let you know how the bed sleeps then.”

He chuckled and turned the air pump back on. “How nice of you.”

“That’s my middle name,” I mumbled under my breath.

Dyno finished airing up the mattress, and I tossed him the other blanket. “That enough for you?”

I didn’t know what I was going to do if he said no, but I didn’t want to be a complete bitch and steal his bed and all his blankets.

“It’ll be fine.” He draped the blanket over the mattress and kicked off his boots.

“Fancy!” Kimber busted through the closed door and came to a screeching halt two steps into the room. “Are you okay?”

Fancy glanced at me, and I shrugged. I hadn’t told anyone about the strange car and the reason why I felt Fancy needed to stay the night. I had planned on clueing everyone in on what had happened in the morning. Working on the clubhouse had been kicking my ass the past few days, and all I wanted to do was go to sleep.

“I can’t believe your car broke down.” Kimber wrapped Fancy up in a hug.

Fancy hugged her for a second and then pulled out of her arms. “It wasn’t that bad. I mean, it totally sucks my car decided to die, but hopefully I can get it looked at and fixed in the morning.”

“Slumber party?” Quinn laughed from the doorway.

“I was kidnapped and forced to have a slumber party.” Fancy folded her arms over her chest. “Though I haven’t been told why I’ve been kidnapped.”

  Quinn looked at me.

I shrugged. “There was a strange car by her when I pulled up tonight. Something felt off about it.”

“Oh, my God,” Kimber gasped. “Maybe it was the guy who is going around murdering everyone.”

I rolled my eyes. “That wasn’t what I was thinking, but if that is going to convince you stay here then yeah, that’s totally who it was.”

“It wasn’t that bad, Kimber.” Fancy ran her fingers through her hair. “I’m sure it was just someone coming to help me and Dyno happened to scare them off when he pulled up on his motorcycle.”

Quinn glanced at me, and I shook my head. It had been more than that. I could feel that whoever was in that car planned on hurting Fancy. If I had been five minutes later, Fancy might not be here to throw sass and act like sh
e hated me.

“We’ll talk about it in the morning.” Quinn grabbed Kimber’s hand and pulled her out of the room. “Let’s go break in that new bed, babe.”

Fancy curled her lip and shivered. “You guys are super cute and all, but if you could refrain from letting me know when you get it on, that would be great.”

There was Fancy again talking to the prez of the MC like no one else would.

“We’ll work on that,” Kimber laughed. “Night, guys.”

Quinn drug her out of the room with a nod to me and pulled the door shut behind him.

  “I was fine tonight.”

  I nodded. “Yeah, you were.”

“You just made it sound like I wasn’t okay,” she insisted.

I shrugged and moved to the light switch. “Maybe I’m just being overly cautious.” I nodded to the bed. “You wanna climb in before I shut the light off?”

She hopped into bed and pulled the covers to her chin. “I’m in, but don’t think this means I’m going to stop talking.”

I flipped the light off and fell onto the air mattress. “Talk all you want, darlin’.”

“It’s Fancy,” we said in unison.

“If you know it drives me crazy when you call me babe, darlin’, or any other shitty nickname, then why in the hell do you do it?”

I sighed into the darkness. “Guess I just like getting a rise out of you, baby.”

  “Dyno,” she growled.

“Get some sleep, Fancy. I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty fucking tired.”

She was quiet for all of two point three seconds. “I’m kind of tired. I normally fall asleep to the sound of the TV, though.”

  “Good to know.”

“Are you okay with me turning on a movie on my phone?”

I didn’t care what the hell she did as long as she shut up and let me go to sleep. “Whatever floats your boat.”

I listened to her rustle under the covers and then the light noise of talking echoed in the room. “Is that too loud?”

  “You’re fine, Fancy.”

“If you say so,” she whispered.

I listened to the sound of her phone for a couple of minutes, waiting for her to talk again, but she actually kept quiet.

That is, until she started giggling.

“Fancy,” I growled. She could have her damn phone on, but she needed to shut the hell up.

“Sorry, Dyno,” she whispered softly. “It was a funny part.”

I couldn’t be mad at her. “Just try to keep it down.”

  “You got it.”

  Chapter Twelve

  Fancy was a bossass bitch…

  Fancy

  “I hate you.”

“Here’s your one chance…” Kimber danced around the makeshift kitchen, the song “Fancy” blasting on her phone. “You know you love this song!”

I didn’t. I hated it, actually. I shook my head and bit into my donut. “You’re not my best friend anymore.”

“Pfft,” Kimber laughed. She turned down the volume on her phone but continued to two-step around. “I don’t know how you can hate the exact song that you were named after.”

I flipped her off and continued to eat my donut.

Dyno walked over and grabbed a donut from the open box on the card table. “You were named after this song?”

“Wasn’t everyone named after a song about a mother who sold their daughter into prostitution?” I scoffed.

“Can’t say they have,” he laughed.

“No,” Kimber shouted. “She called you Fancy because Fancy was a bossass bitch who was going to succeed no matter what. That’s what you were named after.”

I rolled my eyes and shoved the last of my donut into my mouth. “Keep telling yourself that, Kimber.”

  “Church,” Quinn hollered.

  “Church?” I questioned.

  “Meeting,” Kimber mouthed.

The guys filed out of the common room and down the hallway.

“Try not to get into any trouble,” Dyno warned.

I flipped him off, and he chuckled under his breath.

Kimber flopped down in the chair next to me. “Whoa, that was a workout.”

“Yeah, you’re right. Maybe you should never do that again.” I reached into the donut box and pulled out another. It was definitely a two-donut kind of day.

“Damn, girl. You’re going in for a second cream filled.” Kimber lifted her coffee cup to her mouth. “Rough night?”

I had actually slept pretty good even if Dyno had been five feet away from me the whole time. “Just tired from work last week.”

Sometimes, the work week drained me so much that the weekends all I did was veg out and sleep. It was feeling it was going to be a weekend like that, but I wasn’t sure how much vegging out I was going to be able to do when I was stuck at the clubhouse. Hopefully, at whatever meeting the guys were having, they would talk about getting me the hell out of here. Dyno was completely overacting.

Now that it was the next day, I knew that I had completely overacted last night. Being stranded on the side of a dark road had completely messed with my head and made me think crazy things.

“Quinn say anything to you last night about keeping you captive here?”

She laughed and shook her head. “I was going to try to coyly talk to him about it, but between the furniture shop, big ass TV shopping, and then my best friend being stranded on the side of the road, I didn’t really have time to talk to him about it.”

I nodded. “So, who is Petra?”

  “You met Petra?” she asked.

I nodded and took a huge bite of my donut. I chewed slowly. “I accidently barged into her room last night.”

“How do you accidently barge into someone's room?” Kimber asked. She held up her hand and shook her head before I could answer. “Never mind. I forgot who I was talking to. You very much are a barge into rooms and ask questions later kind of girl.”

She wasn’t wrong. “I wasn’t sure which room was mine and just picked a door.” I shrugged. “I picked wrong, but I got to meet Petra and her cat.”

“Oscar!” Kimber exclaimed. “He’s super sweet, yeah?”

I hadn’t really met him, but I hadn't met a kitty before that I didn’t like. “I totally see me spending some time with him this weekend.”

“Someone say Oscar?” Petra walked into the common room with the yellow cat in her arms.

“Hey, girl,” Kimber called. “I was gonna come ask you if you wanted a donut.”

Petra shook her head. “I wish I could, but I’m diabetic.”

Kimber flipped the lid on the donuts closed. “Forget I even asked.”

“I do need to eat breakfast, though.”

Kimber cringed and glanced at the fridge. “I’m pretty sure the only thing that is in there is beer and a couple bottles of booze.”

Petra’s face fell. “Oh, well, I guess I’ll just head back to my room then.”

“No, no, no,” Kimber insisted. She jumped up from her chair and gently grabbed Petra’s arm. “We’ll wait until the guys get done with their meeting, and then we’ll run to the store to stock the fridge.”

“Or we could go right now. I mean, Petra is a diabetic. She really shouldn’t go this long without eating,” I added.

“We should probably wait until the guys are done,” Kimber insisted.

Oh, Kimber. She was such a good ol’ lady. Too bad for Quinn that I didn’t need to be as obedient as she was.

  “You drove here, right Kimber?”

Kimber wearily nodded her head. “What are you thinking, Fancy?”

I drained the rest of my coffee and smiled wide. “I think it’s time for a little field trip, ladies.”

  Dyno

“She’s here because a car pulled over to help her?” Zephyr looked at me doubtfully. He raised his hand over his head. “Can I get a recall on the vice president vote?”

  Quinn chuck
led and shook his head. “Sorry, brother. Gonna take a whole lot more than that.”

I flipped off Zephyr. “You’re a real ass, you know that?”

He shrugged. “So I’ve been told a time or two.”

“Yeah, by your mama,” Point snickered.

“Something was not right when I got to Fancy,” I insisted.

“Well, maybe it wasn’t, but you really think whatever it is followed her here?” Quinn asked.

“I don’t fucking know, brother,” I sighed. I didn’t have anything solid to say about last night except everything felt off.

Quinn nodded. “If you want Fancy to stay here ‘til you can figure if anything is going on, that’s fine, but you’re going to have a hell of a time getting her to stay if you tell her you just have a bad feeling about it.”

I knew it wasn’t going to be easy to get her to stay. “I’ll let you know if I need duct tape.”

Quinn turned to Rhino. “Everything okay with Petra?”

Rhino shrugged. “It seems as long as she has that damn cat with her, she’s fine. You wanting me to stick with her when she goes to work?”

Quinn bit his bottom lip. “Uh, maybe for now. I’ve got some info on who the person who called me could have been, but it’s not enough for us to know exactly who it is.”

“Brick came through with some information?” I asked.

Quinn shrugged. “Somewhat. He gave me three organizations the Rolling Devils might have been working with. Two are out of California and the other is in Canada.”

  “Canada, eh?” Point chuckled.

Zephyr cleared his throat. “We really think the friendly Canadians are into kidnapping women?”

  “The friendly Canadians?” Rhino laughed.

Quinn shook head. “I don’t think this is coming from Canada, but not because they’re friendly up there.” He held up his phone. “The number that called me is a California area code.”
