In Another Time

They removed their clothes together in silence, lay on the bed and began to kiss passionately. “I have to make up for missing two centuries of loving you,” he teased with a devilish smile as he kissed her again.
They were both so completely turned on by everything that happened and she needed to feel him inside her. She was wet and ready for him. He climbed in between her legs. She could feel his strong tight thigh muscles as he used them to spread her legs further apart. He leaned in to kiss her and his chest grazed her nipples causing her to squirm beneath him, she arched her back as she closed her eyes. Charlotte felt his warm tongue swipe her nipple before taking it between his lips as he began to suck on her breast. She could feel his hardness against her folds and she thrust her hips upwards trying to grind against him.
“Someone’s impatient,” he said as he thrust inside her, filling her completely.
“Uhh damn,” she screamed. The pleasure she felt overrode the small amount of discomfort from his initial thrust.
James moved slowly. Her muscles tightened around him and he quickened his pace as if he knew she was close.
Charlotte couldn’t think straight, her entire body started to pulsate. She could feel it, she was about to come. “Yes James, yes baby,” she yelled as the orgasm spiraled through her body.
James gazed into her eyes as he continued to stroke her. “I love you Charlotte,” he declared.
Her eyes welled with unshed tears. “I love you too James,” she said as he continued to take her body on a ride to ecstasy. Their lovemaking went late into the night, until they both fell asleep from exhaustion.
Charlotte turned in her sleep and realized she wasn’t in her bed. She faced the handsome man that she made love to all night and he was already awake looking at her. “How long have you been up?” she asked in a sleepy voice.
James had in fact, been up for a while as he couldn’t stop watching the lovely woman who’d ruled his heart and mind. Now, he knew she did, in fact, hold his soul. Yes, James believed it all. It would explain why his whole world and existence seemed to stop, the minute he saw her. Not that he would want that world back, not without her. “Just a few minutes,” he finally answered. “I was thinking about everything that’s happened and I need to ask you something very important.”
“What is it baby?” she asked in a soft voice that melted his heart.
He got out of bed and walked into the other room. He came back a few seconds later with a little black box.
Her eyes glazed over with tears as she covered her mouth.
“I know we’ve only known each other for a short while, but I feel like I’ve known you for a lifetime, and we were together in another time.” He opened the small box to reveal a six-carat heart-shaped diamond ring. “So, Ms. Charlotte Trudeau, will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?”
Charlotte’s heart and mind were in one accord with the answer. “Yes!” she exclaimed.
He placed the ring on her finger and pulled her into an embrace.
She kissed him softly. “I love you James Donovan.”
“I love you too Charlie, we may have met in another time, but our love will be everlasting,” he whispered as he kissed her again and pulled her close to him. James inhaled deeply, loving the smell of her—he was finally, where he belonged.
As James and Charlotte laid in a restful slumber, two shadowy images emerged from their bodies and floated towards the window. Both smoky figures looked at the images in the bed. “It is so good to feel you in my arms again my love,” Jasper said. I didn’t think it was possible, but now that we are together, I will never let you go again.”
“But there are still forces out there trying to destroy us Jasper,” Clarissa said.
Both smoky images looked over again at the bed at their reincarnated bodies.
“I will not lose you again, my Love,” Jasper declared.
“Then we need to teach them how to use the powers within themselves to destroy our enemies, so that we can finally love in peace,” Clarissa whispered.
Chapter 16
Aedan’s concerns that James wasn’t able to focus enough to make a decision on the company was growing. It was imperative that they return home or everything his family had worked for all his life would be lost. James’ feelings for Charlotte were becoming worrisome and would have to be dealt with if James didn’t return home soon. He took another sip of his drink as he dialed his phone. “We have a serious problem,” he said to Colleen with urgency in his voice.
Daniel Moret sat in his office at home, in the dark, drinking. He kept replaying in his mind how he was escorted out of his office. They had humiliated him in front of all the employees, and it was all because of Charlotte Trudeau. “That bitch will pay for ruining my life,” he said as he began to plot his revenge.
Charlotte and her assistant Diane sat in the conference room waiting for the rest of her colleagues. They were meeting to discuss the finalization of a contract their company. Charlotte was excited about this venture as she waited for everyone to take their seats. She started the meeting by congratulating everyone on a job well done and began to assign projects to the staff for this new business venture.
Everyone in the room noticed the huge rock on her finger but no one said a word.
The meeting was just about to conclude when James Donovan walked into the conference room. He sternly looked around the room at everyone attending and then said, “I need the room.”
Everyone paused then stood up.
“Except you Ms. Trudeau, I need to have a word.”
Everyone looked at her strangely, then began to whisper while walking out of the room.
Charlotte tapped her assistant on the hand. “Diane, please make sure these copies are made before I get back, we will need to distribute them this morning,” Charlotte said as she gave her a faint smile.
Her assistant nodded as she closed the door behind herself.
James locked the door then stalked over to Charlotte. He lifted her up on to the table and began to passionately kiss her as he raised the hem of her dress.
She knew this was inappropriate, but she was already wet with anticipation. Without breaking the connection of their kiss, he unzipped his pants and raised her dress, slid her panties to the side and with one thrust he was inside her. Charlotte wrapped her legs around his waist. James held her ass as he continued to pound until he felt her clenching around him. Then she stilled and held on to him as the feeling rippled through her body. James continued with his thrusts until he came inside her. They both remained immobile for a few seconds, totally spent.
As their heavy breathing began to dissipate, Charlotte instantly became angry with both herself and him. “You can't do this James. I will lose all the respect of my colleagues if they know I’m sleeping with the boss before we make an official announcement. And we can't have sex in the office. It’s taken me too long to earn their respect and I can’t have you coming into the conference rooms fucking me whenever you feel like it.” She pushed him away and stood, allowing her dress to fall back into place as she smoothed it out. She went into the powder room to freshen up.
James followed and she handed him a warm cloth. He watched silently as she removed her panties and ran the washcloth along her upper thigh.
Her tone softened as she continued, “Babe, I want you as much as you want me, but we have to set some boundaries or we'll never get work done.”
“I'm sorry Charlie, it has been a particularly stressful morning and I needed to see you. It wasn’t my intention when I came in here to make love to you on the table but I saw you and I instantly wanted you.
She looked up at him and kissed him softly. “But what if someone walked in on us?”
“I understand. But one, I locked the door and two: I would have explained that I was making love to my incredibly beautiful future wife.”
The word wife startled Charlotte. The reality of his words was setting in as she stared down at the beautiful huge diamond ring
he had given her.
“We need to talk,” James said in a serious tone and pulled her by the hand back into the conference room then motioned for her to sit. “I know this is all moving extremely fast for both of us but I want you to be my wife and I don't want to wait. We've never talked about how logistically this would all work out. I just know I'm not going to lose you and after careful consideration, I've decided to move here to New Orleans with you.”
Charlotte placed her hands over her mouth. She couldn’t hide her surprise or happiness. She jumped into his arms and held onto him tight.
He held her as he continued, “I’m able to run all of my businesses from here which I will make my permanent headquarters.” He sat in a seat and pulled her into his lap. “Now that is going to be quite undertaking on my part which I will gladly do. But it will mean I need to go back to Ireland for a few weeks to finalize some deals and tie up some loose ends so the transition from Ireland to America can be a fairly smooth one.”
She placed small kisses on his lips.
James cupped her face. “I want you to come to Ireland with me.”
She gazed into his eyes, “I would love to, but we have several contracts we won and I need to oversee their initial implementation.” She wrapped her arms around his neck. “Baby, I’m so happy you’re moving here. I was so worried as to how we were going to work out the distance.”
“I will be wherever you are and there's no other place I'd want to be.”
Charlotte smiled as she thought of how wonderful it would be to spend a couple of weeks in Ireland but in the end, she knew there was too much going on at the office and this wasn’t a good time to take a vacation. She stood and used her hands to smooth the wrinkles out of her skirt. “Go to Ireland and take care what you have to. I will be here, waiting for you when you return,” she said before kissing him again. She turned to gather her paperwork. “When will you leave?” she asked missing him already.
“I was thinking by the weekend.” James noticed her lips curling upwards into a smile.
“Great, then you can attend Rob’s thirtieth surprise birthday party with me.”
He kept his warm gaze on her face. “Of course, I will attend with you.”
“Thank you baby.” She made her way towards the door. “Now I need to get back to work and hopefully I don’t have the, my boss face has just fucked me, face,” she joked.
James laughed loudly as he stood to walk out of the conference room with her.
“Hey, I know we are having dinner this evening,” she paused. “But I would like to invite the three most important people in my life, so we can officially tell them we are engaged before they hear it from someone else. And I would prefer not to tell them at the party.”
“That sounds like a great plan. I will make sure that Aedan is there as well, he needs to know that I’m moving here permanently. I know that’s not going to sit well with him, but he will have to deal with it.” He gave her a slight peck on the lips before heading to the elevators.
Charlotte wasn’t aware that her Diane saw the exchange until she turned and saw her walking quickly down the hall. When Charlotte approached her desk, Diane’s lack of eye contact was confirmation that she saw them. “I expect you to keep what goes on in our office confidential, am I clear?” she asked in a firm voice.
Diane nodded. “I was looking for you, to get clarity on these documents before sending.” She held the documents in her hand.
Charlotte smiled at her. “Come into my office and we can take a look at them together.”
Chapter 17
After her meeting with Diane, Charlotte pulled out her phone and sent a group text. I need you all to meet me at the restaurant this evening at 7 o'clock. It's very important and Jewels-don't be late… Love you. She inhaled sharply as she placed her phone back in her purse and went back to working on her new contracts.
Charlotte was so engrossed in her work, she didn’t realize how late it’d gotten. She glanced up to see James standing in her doorway.
“Are we still going to dinner this evening?” he asked prompting her to look at the time, it was already six thirty.
“Yes, just give me five minutes and I'll be ready.” She closed down the files on her computer. He sat in the chair in front of her desk as she signed off on documents she was working on and made sure her computer was shut down. She looked up to catch him staring at her.
“I never get tired of looking at you,” he said.
Her cheeks flushed as she grabbed her purse and stood in front of him. “I'm ready.” She smiled warmly.
They drove to the restaurant. Charlotte stared at him as he focused on the road. She wanted to be entirely sure that James was comfortable with making such a major transition in a short period of time. “James, are you sure about moving here?” she asked.
“I'm sure about one thing Charlotte; I’m going to be wherever you are.” James kissed her hand.
Her entire body heated up as she redirected her attention out the window. “Hey, were you able to speak with Aedan? Is he also going to join us for dinner?” She didn’t care for Aedan; there was something about him that gave her a weird feeling.
“I believe so? He was working on some other aspects of our business that required him to visit one of our other sites, but he should be here in time for dinner.” James quickly peeked at her before looking at the road again. “Is there something wrong?”
Charlotte stared down at her hands resting in her lap. “You two seem pretty close and I don’t think he’s going to like that fact that you’ve decided to move to the US permanently, only after just meeting me.” She paused to gauge his reaction to her next words. “This is insane don't you think? We only met three weeks ago and now we're telling our family and friends that were getting married?” There was no doubt in her mind about her feelings for James, she loved him, but she needed to know that he was in it for the long run.
James pulled into the parking lot and looked over at her. He said nothing only kissed her softly before exiting the car and walking around to open her door. “Maybe for other individuals it may be an insane proposition, but there is no doubt in my mind that I want to be with you.” He used his first two fingers to nudge her face upward so that they were looking into each other’s eyes. “What about you, sweetness, are you having second thoughts about us?” He continued to look into her eyes.
“You are absolutely who I want to be with, and there is no doubt in my mind either,” she replied without hesitation.
He gave her a soft kiss, then they walked together into the restaurant.
Her grandmother, Mimi was already there and had a large table ready for their dinner party. The restaurant was unusually crowded for a Tuesday evening but Mimi managed to secure the perfect table for dinner.
As her friends joined them at the restaurant, everyone noticed a ring, but no one commented until Jewels arrived at the restaurant late as usual.
“What the hell is that?” she asked as she grabbed Charlotte's hand and stared at the beautiful six-carat diamond that was surrounded by a cluster of smaller diamonds.
Charlotte retracted her hand. “I will explain in a moment but you are late as usual. Please have a seat because we have an announcement to make,” she said as she looked over a James with a smile.
The waiter served everyone a glass of champagne.
James looked around at them and added, “We’re waiting for one more person and when he arrives, we can discuss why we have asked you all to be here.”
Just then, Aedan walked in and was shown to the table by the hostess.
“Great!” James smiled at his friend. “Now that everyone's here, Charlotte and I would like to make an announcement.” He stood with his champagne flute. “I know that most of you will think this is extremely sudden. But when I look at this wonderful woman, I know that God made her for me.” He intertwined his hand with hers and she stood beside him. He brushed his lips across hers softy before continuing, “I have asked this
incredibly beautiful woman to marry me and she graciously accepted my proposal.” James gazed at Charlotte with admiration and love.
Everyone was stunned and no one spoke for a few long seconds.
Robert stood, walked over to Charlotte, and kissed her on the cheek. “Congratulations baby girl, if you're happy, then I'm thrilled.” He turned to James and shook his hand. “While I think this is fast, I've never seen Charlotte as happy as she is right now, so congratulations to both of you.”
“Thank you.” Charlotte allowed an unshed tear of joy to fall. She glanced over at Mimi who was already crying. “Mimi are you Okay?” she asked concerned. She’d had a major health scare and she didn’t want to do anything to upset her grandmother.
Mimi looked over at her with a bright smile. “I'm better than okay Cher. I'm just so happy you two found each other.” She said as she hugged Charlotte.
Jewels sat stunned at the entire revelation of marriage. “I don't understand. You just met him a couple of weeks ago. What does this mean, are you moving to Ireland with him?” She looked worried that her best friend was making a big mistake. Robert rubbed Jewels' arm and she took a deep breath. She then smiled and tried to be happy for her best friend while raising her glass toward the happy couple. “I’m happy for you, if you're happy, but this seems to be an extremely major decision that you two are making and you barely know each other.” She looked over at Mimi. “Auntie Mimi, you approve of this union happening so fast?”
Mimi smiled and nodded. “Indeed, I do.”
Charlotte got up and made her way over to Jewels, hugging her as she whispered in her ear, “He is my soulmate. I know it in my heart. I just need you to be happy for me.”
Jewels began to tear up. “If you’re happy Sis, then I'm happy.” She smiled at Charlotte then looked at the entire table. “I think it's time for some real drinks and not just champagne,” she added jokingly.
