“You’re so hard…” She spoke in a sexy voice, the head of his big, stiff cock resting on her ass cheek. He sat up, kissing his way up her chest, drowning in her intoxicating scent. Gently, he pulled his finger out of her, and brought it over his mouth. He slipped it between his lips, loving the taste of her sweet juices.

“Bad boy…” Helena growled, pushing him back. Her lips crashed against his, the passion in her kiss overwhelming him. In a matter of seconds, their tongues had joined in a ritual dance that sent his senses reeling. Unable to take this anymore, Michael took his hand off her breast as she curled her arms around his neck. He reached out and grabbed his cock, before wrapping his other arm around her waist. Leading his shaft to her entrance, he opened his eyes to gauge her reaction.

“Awww, yeah…” She moaned, squeezing his eyes shut as he buried himself deep into her. Her inner walls clenched around his ample inches, her fingers squeezing the firm skin on the side of his neck. Michael smacked her ass cheeks at the same time, causing her to cry out in pleasure. He grabbed and held on to them, kissing her chin.

“You taste so fucking sweet.” He grunted, her swollen nipples pressing against his chest. He bent his legs and stuck them up, their moans filling her bedroom. Plowing into her, he watched her breasts bounce up and down, breathing hard on her skin. He snaked his tongue out of his mouth and leaned in, Helena tilting her head down. Resting it on his shoulders, she bit the sensitive flesh of his neck. Michael squeezed her ass, his pulsing cock stretching her out, her teeth sending waves of pleasure mixed with pain up and down his body.

“I’m cumming!” She moaned, his big balls slapping against her ass. Within moments, her orgasm ripped through her, causing her entire body to quiver in his arms. Michael sensed her liquid heat trickling down his shaft, her lustful cries so close to his ear sending him over the edge. He pulled out at the last minute, deeper grunts escaping him as his reached his own climax. She kissed him on the shoulder, purring like a contented cat and then snuggled up close.

“I can’t believe we did that,” Helena confessed, lips dry from panting.

“That makes two of us,” Michael uttered, leaning his head back against the bed board.

“Don’t tell me you have any regrets,” she requested, her tone soft as she eased back. “I know I don’t.”

“I don’t. Yet,” he pointed out, gazing into her eyes. “I will if anyone finds out about this. Listen, uh…” He paused. “We need to get our story straight. I’ll try to find your father tomorrow and tell him what happened. I’ll say that I killed that bloodsucker, burned the body and took off. If he asks, tell him the same thing, okay?”

“Okay.” She agreed with a nod. “Can you do me a favor?”

  “What?”

“We’ll only have one night together,” Helena whispered, tendrils of her hair flowing down her cheeks. “Let’s not waste it by talking about my father.”

“All right.” Her words brought a smile to his face. He placed his hands on either hip and rolled them over, understanding her point. Once more, he claimed her mouth, diving back into her sensual world. He wanted to explore it and taste it as much as he could. To him, this was an opportunity of a lifetime. It was an experience to remember for the rest of his days…

  Chapter Nine

  Michael

A warm sensation in his palm lit a beacon of hope within Michael the next morning. Yet, that hope was shattered when he opened his eyes to slits. It was nothing more than the sheet. Helena wasn’t there with him. Huffing in frustration, he glanced up at her pillow. The pink piece of paper he found sent that dreadful feeling away for a moment.

  “Good morning, wolfy.

I’m sorry I left like that. I had a class, and you looked so peaceful. I just didn’t have the heart to wake you.

Last night was incredible. It breaks my heart to think that we won’t do this again. Just so you know though, I’m not giving up. You and I could have a really good thing. It’d be a shame if we never saw each other again.

  Helena”

“Geez, you don’t let up,” he mouthed to himself. Michael scooted out of bed, her letter serving as a reminder of her youth. People believe the world is so much simpler in their early twenties, and she was no exception to that rule. He wasn’t that older than her, but it wasn’t just a matter of age. Unlike her, he hadn’t had it easy. He had learned about life’s hardships long before he reached her current age.

He strolled outside and discovered a brown bag on her living room table. Intrigued, Michael emptied the contents on the couch. A red sweater, a pair of jeans, boots and amazingly, another note from her.

“I got outside in the morning and I could hear your buddy snoring in his van. I had some time to kill, and there’s a men’s store around the corner.

I think you’d look great in this sweater.

  XOXO

  Helena”

His heart fluttered in his chest. Her letter wasn’t her biggest surprise that morning. Helena had been kind to him. There was more to her than the impulsive girl who wouldn’t take “no” for an answer. Despite his pleasure however, it occurred to him that she wasn’t making this any easier. As a matter of fact, she was making it much more difficult. She had to ignore him from here on out, but Helena showed him that she cared. How can anybody turn their back on something like that?

Michael exited her apartment building, slamming the mangled entry door shut. He couldn’t afford to think about Helena’s generosity. He had a tough task ahead of him, one that he had been dreading since he slaughtered that vampire. He had to notify her father and discuss this with him, which meant venturing into enemy territory. Strutting down the pavement, he peeked through the windshield of Ray’s van. His friend was sprawled across the front seat of his vehicle, still fast asleep.

“Damn…” He muttered, pulling the door open. “Rise and shine, sleeping beauty!”

“What time is it?” Ray asked in a hoarse voice.

“Time to get the hell out of here,” Michael clipped out, tapping his foot on the tarmac in pale impatience. “Come on, get up. We don’t have all day.”

“Right,” Ray croaked, propping himself up on his elbows. “What’s your rush? Today’s our day off.”

“We’re going to Highland,” Michael announced, gripping him by the shoulders to push him up.

“Are you fucking crazy?” Ray barked out. “Why the fuck would we do that?”

“Because somebody’s out to kill Dunston’s daughter,” he explained, joining him in the van. “Do you want me to drive?”

“I’m not going to Highland, man,” Ray claimed, his voice returning to its normal standards. “I’m taking you up to Mercer and that’s it. You’re on your own in this.”

Michael’s initial thought was to insist. He did want someone with him. Not because he was planning to fight anybody, but because he had killed that vampire with Ray’s help. All the same, he selected to respect his friend’s decision. He kept his mouth shut and let him drive off. After all, he had accompanied him in this road trip. He didn’t like the notion of entering Highland alone. Yet, should things spin out of control, having a strong shifter like Ray by his side wouldn’t make much of a difference. Neither of them would get out of there alive…

  Helena

  “You’re mine, you brute.”

Every time she repeated that phrase in her mind, Helena had a smile as broad as Michael’s shoulders. At last, she had knocked down his defenses. After that, she believed that holding on to him would become easier. She didn’t like the fact that she had used sex to persuade him that she was worth a chance, but he hadn’t left her much choice. No matter what she said to him, Michael wouldn’t budge. Would her seduction change his attitude? Only time would tell, but, in her opinion, she had done everything in her power to claim him.

Needless to say, Helena was just incapable of paying attention to her teachers that morning. Her mind drifted back to his caresses, the view of his chiseled chest, the passion in his
kisses… Throughout her classes, she couldn’t stop texting details of her encounters with Michael to Susan Cavanaugh, her good friend. Susan was nothing like the wild spirit she was. On the contrary, she was more conservative than most of her classmates, but that didn’t deter her. Helena was desperate to share her experience with Michael. At the end of their last class, she received a message from her:

  “Meet me in the cafeteria.”

She had no illusions. Most likely, Susan would reprimand her for her behavior. Still, even that thought wasn’t enough to ruin her fantastic mood.

Helena walked into the bustling cafeteria and scanned the hall. Even though she wanted to talk about last night, she didn’t want everyone to hear what she had to say. So, after noticing an empty table in the upper left corner, she crossed the hall, wearing a bright smile. Seating herself, she faced the entrance, waiting to catch a glimpse of Susan’s tall, slender figure.

Minutes afterwards, her friend strode in behind a group of four men. Helena waved her hand in the air, eager to start narrating. Susan approached her with the usual firm look on her face, but it was the object in her palm that prepared Helena for what was about to follow. It was her cell phone. Susan loved computers, she was majoring in Computer Science, but she didn’t like cell phones. She thought of them as a necessary evil, because they alienated people.

  “Hey, S…”

“Let me stop you right there,” she raised her hand to silence her, and then pulled a chair from the table. Swinging her bag off her shoulder, Susan sat down across from her, staring at her phone. “Last night was epic,” “Had sex with the hottest guy in the world,” “His abs look almost unreal. He’s so ripped I could count them,” “Eight inches. EIGHT INCHES!” Is this why you bothered coming to class today? To brag about how well-endowed some guy is?”

“Susan, I’m sorry, I know I was a handful today,” Helena spoke, her tone mellow, her smile fading. “I’m just too happy. And this guy’s not ‘some guy.’ You won’t believe what he did for me last week.”

“Let me guess. He met you in a bar, and after a few drinks, he promised to take you back to his place and make an honest woman out of you.” Sarcasm was dripping off her tongue.

“Nope,” Helena disagreed, shaking her head. “I was out for a walk in the woods, when this huge storm broke out. Things can get pretty bad quickly in the mountain. I mean, it started pouring in seconds. Lightning struck a tree near me; I passed out. Michael…”

“Oh, it has a name,” Susan interjected another sarcastic comment.

“Don’t interrupt me,” Helena chuckled, playfully patting her wrist. “As I was saying, Michael found me. He carried me out of the woods and took me to hospital. He later found my ID in his van. Yesterday, he drove all the way to New York to give it back to me. It was past midnight when he arrived at my place. I couldn’t let him drive back to the Catskills, so, I told him to spend the night in my apartment.”

“I hate to admit it, but he does sound remarkable,” Susan voiced her opinion as a young waitress strutting towards their table. “Good morning. Coffee. Black.” She placed her order, glancing up at her.

“I’ll have the same.” Helena dismissed her with a smile.

“I’m only saying this because you have a lousy taste in men, dear,” Susan continued. “You’ve dated about a dozen scumbags since I’ve known you. So…” She drew in a sharp breath. “Normally, I’d ask you about the sex, but seeing as you’ve not shut up about it all day, I’d rather ask something more important. He lives in the mountain. How will you two keep seeing each other?”

“We’ll see each other on weekends.” Helena’s response was sharp. “You know how much I love the country. Now, I have one more reason to visit Highland more often. A smoking hot reason, I must say.”

“Repeat.” Susan corrected her. “You must have told me that ten times already. Is he really that ripped or were you just making that up?”

“Oh, God…” Helena snorted in amusement, recalling his masculine body. “His chest is broad enough to fit two Helena’s. And I could play tic-tac-toe on his abs.”

“Oh…” Susan gasped in surprise, red heat rising up her cheeks. “That sounds…” She paused. “Interesting.”

“Interesting?” Helena cocked an eyebrow, a cunning smile spreading across her face. “It’s the hottest thing I’ve ever seen.”

“Okay, I’m officially curious.” Susan admitted, lowering her gaze. “Would it be possible for me to, um…?” She faltered. “See him?”

Helena heaved a deep sigh. “I wish I’d taken a picture, but it was too dark. I didn’t turn on the light; I was afraid I’d wake him up.”

“Sorry, I meant ‘meet’ him,” Susan explained, lifting her eyes back up to her friend’s. “You paint such a vivid picture that I just have to see for myself what the fuss is all about.”

Her request put Helena in an awkward position. Meeting Michael required entering his world, a world that neither she nor any other human could possibly comprehend. More than that, she was still not sure if he was willing to take a chance with her. She wasn’t going to get in his good graces by bringing an outsider along. If anything, such move would have the exact opposite results.

“I don’t know about that,” Helena murmured as the waitress came back with their order. “He’s a lumberjack; he works late all the time. He’s private, too.”

“Oh, come on!” Susan narrowed her eyes down at her, gripping the edges of the table. “That’s got to be the crappiest excuse I’ve ever heard. You shouldn’t be in business school. You should become a fiction writer. You did a great job describing someone who doesn’t exist.”

“He does!” Helena insisted, leaning forward. “I’m telling you he does!”

“Then why can’t I meet him?” Susan retorted, clenching her jaw.

Helena squeezed her lips together. “All right, fine. We’re going to the Catskills this Friday.”

“We can go tomorrow,” Susan implied, interlocking her fingers over her stomach. “We’ve only got two hours of classes on Wednesday afternoon.”

Helena wished she could turn down her proposal. Her parents wouldn’t appreciate seeing her in Highland on a weekday for the second week in a row. However, Susan was as stubborn as a mule. She would persist until she granted her wish.

“Tomorrow it is, then.” She gave a reluctant nod, lifting her mug up to her lips.

“Thank you.” Susan smiled in appreciation. Helena tasted the hot coffee, imagining her parents’ reaction. They would reprimand her; she was sure of that. Her mother would complain about an unnecessary drive up the perilous mountain roads, whereas her father would shout at her for not staying in New York to study. Still, this wouldn’t be the first time they argued. She knew how to handle them. What concerned her, was the brute she believed she had conquered…

  Chapter Ten

  Michael

“If anything goes wrong, bury me in this.”

Staring at his leather jacket, Michael had to consider the worst possible outcome of his visit to Highland. The large patch on the back depicted a wheel, with flames, red roses and knives sticking out of the spokes. He had been proud to wear it for almost a decade. And if anything went wrong, he wanted his comrades to know that their arch enemies had been responsible.

He put on the jacket, his pulse rising. Kick-starting the motorcycle, he rolled on the throttle, in order to savor the rumble of the thunder headers. The vibrations coursed up his body from his feet as he gazed out over the valley. Thousands upon thousands of trees spread out before him, the landscape disrupted by the view of two towns. Situated on top of a taller hillside, Highland overshadowed Payton. Michael kicked the motorcycle into gear, the cold wind blowing through his hair. The Harley bucked and leapt forward, its racket reverberating through his skull as he rode off.

“Riding into the unknown.” He thought to himself. Indeed, he was about to embark on a trip into the lair of someone whose reputation preceded him. Michael was well-aware of
Dunston’s crimes in the past, but he had never seen him in action. He had heard of what he was capable of, but witnessing it was another matter. He could recall the sight of his two, fallen comrades. There wasn’t a single drop of blood on them. Frank Dunston had somehow managed to snap their necks; yet, how he had done that remained a mystery.

His endeavor was perilous in every way imaginable. Wearing that jacket inside of the warlock’s turf would automatically paint a target on his back. Nevertheless, he had something in his favor. He had rescued his daughter. Would that be enough to keep him alive? He didn’t have a clue. In any case, he had to bring the incident with the vampire to his attention.

Crossing the town limit, he tried to rid himself of negative thoughts. They wouldn’t avail him. Alas, the next image that crossed his mind sent waves of frustration crashing over him. A 5’6”, curvy figure, with red, curly hair, green eyes, a pale complexion, a sweet face, lying beside him, wearing nothing but her skin. Helena. His temptation. The one person he had to stay away from.

Frustration turned into anger. He had failed to forget her. He believed that he would reminisce about one of the hundreds of happy memories he had made with his buddies. Still, the passionate night in her apartment was fresh, and he was still—partly—human. He couldn’t deny that he had loved it.

The Harley sped along narrow roads, leaving cabins and old buildings behind. Just seconds into his ride in Highland, he could feel many pairs of eyes on him. People going about their daily business stopped and turned to look at him as the thunder headers resounded through every neighborhood. Not used to this kind of attention, his inner wolf twitched in unease. He wanted to hide away from them. Still, he had to endure. After all, his time in that place would be limited.
