Stealing Pretty

Gray dove across the table, clattering aside an unlit candle, and took Jameson in a deep kiss. Love radiated from inside of him. After fighting so hard to break Jameson free, he was the luckiest man in the world that Jameson wanted to use that freedom to be with him and with the people that he called family.
“Okay,” Dee laughed. “I take it you’re ready to move back, too?”
“Fuck yeah,” Gray said. He leaned back in his chair, then fixed his robe. “I’m sure Albany misses me,” he joked.
“Not yet, though!” Jameson said brightly. “Dee has barely seen Scotland yet. You ready to tour a castle, Dee?”
She raised her mug of coffee in the air. “I bet you it has great acoustics, too.”
“Oh,” Jameson hummed. “Maybe we could be sneaky and record some vocals in there? That’s interesting.”
“As long as we get some recordings done today,” Dee agreed. “Remember, Seb is ready to put the sound files online as soon as I deliver them.”
Chowing down on the buttery warm muffin, Gray felt another wave of satisfaction. Somewhere along the trip, as Jameson got deeper into writing songs, he’d made an important realization. Although he hated the idea of being famous, he did still want to share his music with the world and to find some sort of creative outlet. The evening he shared that, Gray had gone straight to contacting Seb, who confirmed that it would be fairly easy to release securely anonymous sound files onto the internet.
With Jameson’s singing voice sounding unrecognizable to the steady, low hum that Justin Sweet used, Seb only had to tweak the sound file a little to make it all final.
“I’ll just be happy if a few people listen to it,” Jameson said.
Dee snorted. “Our sound is amazing,” she pointed out. “I won’t be surprised if you get a fanbase.”
Jameson laughed. “Just as long as they never figure out who I am. Having people enjoy my music might feel healing, actually. The acting never felt important to me. But the songs were written by us, and that means a lot more.”
“Oh!” Dee said brightly, then grabbed the envelope again. “Speaking of working together, I wanted to show you all this newspaper clipping, too.” She pulled the small slip of paper out, then handed it to Seb.
“Last members of fentanyl gang nabbed in major sweep,” he said, reading the headline slowly.
“Raiden was following the story after the big bust and noticed that they didn’t arrest the guys who came to your house, so he sent in an anonymous tip. Turns out there was a whole other supply being moved that month!”
Pride swelled in Gray’s chest. He grabbed the article, then read the headline himself.
“You set a good example,” Jameson said, kissing him on the cheek.
“Huh,” Gray said, so happy he felt like his muscles were humming. “I guess I did.”
They finished the breakfast up, and Gray cleaned the kitchen while Dee stepped into the shower. He was drying the last of the dishes beside the tiny silver sink when Jameson appeared beside him again with a kiss.
“Thank you,” Gray said. “Thank you again.”
“For what?”
“Albany. Moving back to the States. This vacation.” Gray sucked in a deep breath, his fortune washing over him. “Everything.”
Jameson leaned forward, rising up on the front of his feet to place his lips next to Gray’s ear. “Do you want to know a secret?” he whispered.
Gray laughed. “Sure.”
“We’re going to go back to Albany, and we’re going to be happy.”
Gray laughed again, Jameson’s lips tickling his ear. “Yeah we are,” he agreed. “We’re going to have a big bed with soft sheets and a bunch of hillsides for Pickles to chase squirrels around.”
“And I’m going to make music with Dee, and we’re going to hang out with your family and watch as everyone grows old and happy together.”
“I’ll make you breakfast in the morning, and I’ll never get tired of telling you how beautiful you are.”
“And at night, I’ll curl up into your arms, and I’ll always know I’m safe.”
Gray growled, then rutted his hips against Jameson. “I’ll make sure you know it,” he said. “I’ll remind you every time I kiss you.” He kissed Jameson on the cheek, then growled again. “And every time I hold you,” he added, sinking his fingers into Jameson’s ass with a firm squeeze. “And every time I fuck you.”
Jameson whimpered his approval. “Forever,” he said. “I want you to do that forever.”
“I love it, beautiful.”
Jameson squeezed Gray a little closer. “And once we’re settled into our new home, I’m going to ask you to marry me.”
Gray gasped. “You’re not supposed to tell me that,” he laughed.
“You won’t know when it’s going to happen,” Jameson teased. “Or where or how. But right when you least expect it…”
Gray laughed, then swooped Jameson to the side, taking him in a dip. “You think you can pull one over on me, beautiful? Catch me by surprise?”
Jameson grinned, then brushed his lips across his boyfriend’s. “I think we’re going to spend the rest of our lives surprising each other. Don’t you?”
“Every damn day,” Gray agreed. “I’m counting on it.”
