Falling Over Sideways

Finally, my son’s classmate Abigail Burnett, whose father, Ron, actually had a stroke when Abigail was in middle school, was kind enough to recount that experience to me in some detail, and while the type of stroke Ron had is medically quite different from the stroke portrayed in this book, hearing from a teen who had gone through an emotional event like the one I was describing was invaluable and affirming. Abigail is a treasure.

Any factual errors in this book made it into the manuscript despite the contributions of the above-named individuals, who went above and beyond to educate me.

On a different note, I have to give big props to my daughter’s dance school, Art of Dance Studios in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, both for everything she has learned there, and for actually having a Dads’ Dance in the recital every year. After I finished writing Falling Over Sideways, I got my chance to be a Dancing Dad—and while I can’t say my footwork was anything special, the experience was absolutely magical.
