Say Yes: A Valentine’s Day Secret Baby Romance
Page 5
Dropping heavily onto the sofa, I propped my feet up and cracked my water bottle open as a massive sigh deflated my chest. My entire body ached, and I turned on the television to flip absently through the channels.
“Where were you yesterday, man? I thought we were going to Esther’s house for her birthday, but you never showed.” Groaning as I flung my head back, I watched Tommy walk past me upside down, and irritation burrowed deep into my gut. “I tried calling you. Esther was really miffed- she told everyone you’d be there, and then you weren’t.”
“Okay- firstly, Tom- Esther and I have known each other since 9th grade. There’s no reason for that ‘my friend’s a celebrity, I can hook you up’ shit, okay? It’s not my fault she embarrassed herself. And secondly- I was doing what you told Gwen you would do, but you constantly flake on. She’s got a ton of shit in her garage, and no one is helping her move it- she’s been here for weeks. It’s fucking January, and she’s still unpacking.” Tommy had the decency to look guilty, at least, and I took a swig of my water bottle to cool down the anger simmering in my blood. “Also, I needed to go to the gym. Lyle is supposed to call me sometime in the next two weeks about my shooting schedule, and I slacked off a little, recently.”
“You don’t have to do that, you know-“ Scoffing before Tom could even finish trying to justify himself, I cast him a nasty glare. He was a kid in an adult body- the baby of the family, never having to take responsibility for anything.
“Why- because Gwen can just ask her family for help? Uh- hello- did she not do that? She asked you because she wants to spend time with you, Tommy, and you blow her off every single time. I get it- I really do. When we were 12 and 13, she was working all the time and never had time for you- boohoo.” Thomas was insanely jealous of Gwen, and he’d always been. Even when we were younger, he hated that he wasn’t the eldest- the pride and joy- the one everyone had their hopes up for. I might be head over heels for her, but he was still my best friend, and I knew him extraordinarily well… although, sometimes, I wish I didn’t.
“Why are you always defending her, huh?” Prickles raced down my spine at the accusatory tone, and my eyelid twitched as I tore my gaze off the tv. Tommy frowned ugly, his gaze filled with envy, and I sat up to prop my elbows on my knees. Circling my water bottle just to keep my hands busy, I carefully chose my response in a way that might just get through his thick-ass skull.
“Tommy, I’m not defending Gwen. She wasn’t a good sister. I’m not trying to convince you otherwise. I’m saying- she wants to try to fix your relationship, but you keep chickening out.” Watching Tom closely, I pursed my lips thinly and cleared my throat as his frown deepened. “If you don’t want to try with her, tell her. Don’t say you’ll do it, then skip out. It’ll only make things worse. You’re my best friend, man, and I’ll have your back, but not if you’re in the wrong.”
“How am I in the wrong for not wanting to be around her when she’s always treated me like a bug- like dirt?” God, he’s so dense. “Gwen told me all the damn time that she didn’t have time to play or help with my homework or whatever, but now, I’m the asshole for doing the same? I’m not saying it’s karma or anything, but what you give is what you get. I spent years being compared to her, and I’m fucking sick of it.”
“Dude, what have you done to prove anyone wrong in comparing you, though? You’ve never had a job, and- yeah, you did a few semesters at the community college, but that didn’t do anything but get you some debt you need your dad to pay off. You live in someone else’s apartment, and your greatest achievement was being dubbed ‘Most Likely to Stick a Straw Up Your Nose’ in kindergarten.” That seemed to get Thomas’ attention, and I blew out a hot breath as he slumped back in the recliner. “If you want to prove to Gwen that you’re not a bug or dirt or whatever, lying to her and making her feel alone isn’t going to do that. Go back to college- get a good degree in computer science and go be a space rocket designer or something. You’re not stupid, Tommy, man… you just need a good kick in the ass to get going.”
“Yeah- and whose fault is that…?” I beat back the urge to rip my fucking hair out at Tommy’s grumble, and he crossed his arms over his chest to groan exasperatedly. “I hate that she’s back. I feel like I’m 12 all over again!”
“Okay- you know what, Tommy? I’m not discussing this anymore. I’m trying to help you, but you clearly don’t give a fuck about anything I have to say. You just want someone to agree with you, and I won’t.” For a second, I considered getting up before I realized this was my god damn apartment. Frowning as Tom sighed sharply, I drew my brows together before opening my mouth. “I’m going to be shooting soon, and I don’t want you living here while I’m in California if you can’t prove to me that you can take responsibility for your damned actions.”
“Are you fucking serious, Ryan?” Flinging forward, Tommy’s shoes hit the floor hard, and I nodded firmly. The outrage in his eyes didn’t bother me in the least, and I took a deep swing from my bottle while he opened and closed his mouth dumbly. A twinge of regret pierced my chest, but I brushed it away; it wasn’t like I particularly wanted Tom to be a bum all his life.
“Yes. I’ve been telling you for years to get a job- to do something with your life- and you never do. I let you stay here for free because we’re best friends, and I don’t mind doing that at all, but you can’t just sit in here for five months straight, alone, stewing about how much you hate your sister. That’s not healthy.” For once, Tom looked like he was really considering my words, and I nearly choked when he slowly sat back in the recliner. I’d never seen such a consternated look on his face, and his eyes even lost focus as he thought- maybe harder than he ever had. Leaning back on the sofa, I crossed my knees as silence reigned, and my gaze flickered to the television.
Tommy never had anyone to really motivate him because they were all so focused on MasterChef Gwen- and I understood that, truly. But, I couldn’t sit by while Tommy wasted his entire life and potential; it wasn’t like he had absolutely no encouragement at all. He was a computer whizz, and he’d gotten a paid internship at Google with their programmers before he even went to college.
But that meant he would have to go to California, and he didn’t want to be in the same state that Gwen lived in, so he declined.
“… I’m not trying to be a dick or make you think that I don’t consider you my brother, Tom, but this has to stop. If you don’t try to pick yourself up, and either try with Gwen or tell her straight up you don’t give a fuck, I can’t be your best friend anymore. I can’t watch you do this to yourself when I know you’re better than this.” Leaving him with that, I got up and turned the tv off before making my way to the kitchen.
Emotions clashed in my chest, restricting my heart, and I yanked open the refrigerator door to pull out a chicken-basil pesto thing that Gwen had made for me. Even cold, it looked delicious, and I grabbed a fork to lean over the counter between the fridge and oven. Staring absently at the swirling patterns, I wondered how things had gotten this way; I spent a lot of effort trying not to enable Thomas, but I’d never threatened to kick him out or end our friendship before.
Still, I was entirely sure that my best friend was just lazy, and Gwen was good scapegoat for it. The truth was there on the wall- figuratively speaking, of course- because Gwen had been a shit sister, and everyone knew it. She never wanted to spend time with Tommy, partly because of the age gap, and partly because she worked so hard to get ahead in life. No one got between her and what future she saw for herself- not Tommy, and not her other siblings, either. Not that they use it against her.
Her first job was at McDonalds, and anyone would’ve guessed she’d won the lottery; it wasn’t a great job, but it was one that fit into her life plan.
Tommy, however, had no life plan even now. He blamed everyone else, reaching far, far back, and never looked to the future. Hell, even I had an inkling of what I wanted to become when I was in high-school.
“What the fuck…” R
ubbing my face roughly, I heaved a sigh as my thoughts exhausted my already tired body. “This is getting really messy.”
Gwen
Rifling through the papers splayed out on my desk, I propped my elbows on the sleek glass to rub my temples. Drooping my head, a heavy sigh escaped me, and I tapped my feet absently as the sheets started to blend together into one, huge piece of paper.
“I brought coffee.” The gentle interruption drew my gaze, and a small, grateful smile stretched my lips. Ryan handed me a huge travel mug that reeked of coffee, but I wasn’t perturbed even as he shuffled to sit on the small sofa nearby. “How you doin’? You look stressed. You want to talk about it?”
“There’s not really anything to talk about-“ Pausing to take a big gulp of the scalding brew, the hairs all over my body stood on end as intense caffeine sloshed down my throat. “This is really good- where’d you get this? Um- yeah. No, I mean, at least Tommy said something this time. It’s not like it was out of the blue. I just… he’s a little old to be all… not that I can really judge him, though…”
“Did you know he got a job the other day? I was really worried that I’d actually have to act on my words if he just fucked all, you know? I wouldn’t have ended our friendship or kicked him out or anything, but he’d never have taken me seriously again. So, I guess it’s good for me that he doesn’t want to chance our friendship.” My gaze met Ryan’s over the rim of the mug, and he nodded with a silly, wide grin puffing out his cheeks. “Yeah- he applied to this internet security place the night that we had that talk last week, and they called him and said they appreciated his application, but they weren’t going to hire him. He hacked their websites and even got into their external databases. They called him back and told him he was hired yesterday morning.”
“Good for him. It’s different, living up to someone else’s expectations than just making your own. Getting a job is a lot more different than creating a job.” Warmth suffused my chest, and I took another gulp of my brew before closing the latch. “I don’t blame him for how he feels about me. It is my fault, after all- one of the disadvantages of being the oldest and the youngest.”
“That’s why I’ll be forever grateful that my little sister is two years younger than me.” Smiling broadly, I giggled as Ryan’s dimples grew sharper, and he draped his arms over the back of the couch to cross his legs unhurriedly. “So… I have to go to my shoot in two days. My flight leaves Wednesday at 3am.”
“O- oh…” The sharp stab of disappointment that speared my chest was surprisingly potent, and I slumped back in my chair as Ryan nodded a jerk of his head. “How long will you be gone?”
“Four months or so. It depends on how smoothly everything goes. I wanted to spend some time with you before I leave. Tomorrow is Tommy’s first day of work, so I promised to take him out to dinner to celebrate.” Gesturing me over, Ryan held out his arms for me, and I rounded my desk on stiff legs. Tugging me into his lap, he pressed a chaste kiss on my cheek, and a faulty smile tilted my lips. “When I get back, you and me are gunna have so much fun, right?”
“Right…” Kissing him deeply, I wrapped my arms around his neck to shuffle and straddle Ryan’s waist. His tongue slipped past my teeth almost instantly, and I swallowed his groan as his hands crept under the waistline of my pajama pants. Need flushed my veins, and he groped my ass shamelessly to force my hips back and forth.
“I’mma fuck your brains out- okay?” Gasping as Ryan seared a path down my chin and neck, I only moaned softly in response. Squeezing and kneading my ass cheeks, he spread them wide, and I reached between us to rub his hardon. “Turn around-“
Panting as I stood up, I climbed out of my pants and underwear as eagerness jellified my stiff muscles. Ryan unfastened his jeans, and my mouth watered when his cock sprung free. Pumping his rod, he spread his legs to silently beckon me, and my core clenched with need. Goosebumps washed my skin as I turned, and he dragged his free palm up my back before grabbed my ass cheek greedily.
Slapping his cock against my ass, Ryan groaned again, and the sound caressed my ears beyond the blood pounding against their drums. Biting down on my bottom lip as he swiped his head along my slit, I rubbed my clit while anticipation slicked my folds. Bracing myself on his knees, my hands trembled- the farthest reaches of my nerves tingling with need- and I shivered violently when the thick ridge of his head slipped inside me.
“Jiggle that gorgeous ass, Gwen.” Clammy palms spread my ass cheeks again, and I popped my back before Ryan jerked his hips up. Moaning loudly as he stretched my walls, I ducked my head against the pleasure that rocketed up my spine. “Yeah-h-h…”
Setting a sharp, deep pace, Ryan’s pants rolled up my back, and I moaned and whimpered as my toes curled into the carpet from the shocks. My thighs quivered, and he cracked his palm against my ass cheek to force a gasp from my tight throat. Gripping my hips, he held me still, lavishing me with wave after wave of euphoria as he did all the work.
Clamping down on his cock, I clenched my jaw and scrunched up my face against the pressure that built behind my eyes. As if sensing my impending orgasm, Ryan tightened his grip on one hip as his other hand disappeared, and thrill struck my chest. His wet thumb massaged my puckered hole heavily, and my nails dug into the fabric of his jeans as I undulated around his length.
“Yeah- fucking cum, baby- prove how much you want this cock-“ Squawking a moan when he inserted his thumb, I arched sharply as his pleased growl swept through the fine hairs on my back. My rapture intensified, and stars popped behind my eyes as I lost myself in it.
“Oh-h God- I want it- I want it!” Ryan thrust harder, grunting with the effort, and my moans morphed into thick, low shrieks that dried my mouth. “Yes- yes- yes! Ryan- harder! H- har- hard-der!”
The rustling of his jeans as they rubbed my thighs and calves drowned out the blood in my ears, and Ryan jerked his hips in a final, brutal thrust. My knees came together, feet lifting off the floor as I came, and his thumb wiggled out of my ass. Grabbing my hair to keep me from falling, his spasms and sputters added to the chorus of our sex, and it was lovely.
“Fuck-“ Forcing me to bend over, Ryan spread my folds to groan as he pulled out of my channel. “You make such pretty creampies, baby. God damn-“
Smearing his cum over my clit and down my thighs, Ryan’s guttural appreciation wrapped around my heart to squeeze. Panting harshly, I struggled to catch my breath as he worked two digits into my channel to stroke my quivering walls. Circling my clit, he tugged my head up to knock me off balance, and I rasped out a squeak as I fell back onto him.
Reaching over my trembling leg, Ryan rubbed my clit furiously, and I spasmed as he kissed my neck and shoulder with sloppy, wet abandon. Shoving his fingers knuckle-deep, he worked my body expertly as I clamped down on them. Twisting and curling, priming me, his digits gave me no relief, and I groaned as waves of pleasure swept up my sternum. His harsh pants tickled my breasts, and my hands moved without direction from my fogged mind to pull down my camisole.
“Do you have a vibrator anywhere?” The grumble caught me off guard, and my eyes popped open to catch sight of his bright, excited expression. “If not, you need to get one- a really strong one.”
“I do-” Erotic glee burned in Ryan’s eyes, and I sat up only to spend a quick second wrangling in myself enough to figure out what to do next. “Uh- ahm…”
My legs ached as I put weight on them, and I shuffled over to a box that I had just shoved in the corner of my office. All sorts of junk was inside, and I dug down to the bottom before finding the little, blue, bullet-shaped item. Fire licked my cheeks, and Ryan stood up to shirk off his pants and shirt before snatching it.
“I’ll be right back. On your hands and knees on the couch.” Striding out of my office, Ryan headed right across the hall to the bathroom, and excitement tugged up the corners of my lips. Doing as I was told, I panted as the sound of him washing off the vibrator tickled my ears, but he was back within the time it took to blink.
“No- not like that-“
Big, firm hands jostled me around, and I couldn’t help but laugh as he pulled my ass over the edge of the sofa. Gripping the back, my fingertips tingled, and Ryan shot me a vicious smirk as he spread my ass cheeks. The cold tip of the bullet stroked my back entrance, and delicious shivers rippled down to my toes. He kept the thing off as he gingerly worked it in, and my feet flexed as I moaned at the pressure.
“Spread your legs wider- as wide as you can, Gwen.” The soft, fake leather burned my knees as I did what Ryan wanted, and he sat down with his back against the sofa. “Stick your ass out more so I can eat that delicious pussy-“
“W- wait- should I… wash off or something?” Stuttering weakly, I gasped when Ryan scoffed, and his warm breath plumed between my quivering folds.
“We’ve only got, like, 9 hours to have enough sex for four months. I got a job to do with you, Gwen, and I’m not gunna let a little thing like the skeeves stop me. When I’m done with you, you’re not gunna remember your own fucking name. Now- I’m turning this thing on, and I want to hear some hustle!”
Gwen
Tapping my foot anxiously, I wrung my hands in my lap as I read the poster on the wall for the tenth time. My gut tightened, and I picked at my fingernails absently as my mind ran rampant. Moving back home when I had meant that the OBGYN I had gone to when I was younger didn’t have any available openings until today, and my birth control was almost two weeks overdue to be replaced.
If there was one thing I was glad about, it was that Craig hated children- thought they were the scourge of the Earth- and didn’t try to stop me from getting the implants.
The door opened gently, with a faint creak, and I stiffened as my OBGYN emerged from behind it. She’d aged, just as I had, and she shot me a small smile as she held my file to her chest.
“So, do you have any in stock?” My apprehension rang in my voice, and I did nothing to shield it. She only furrowed her brows slightly, and my lips rolled between their teeth as she inhaled in preparation.
