“I love you, Tor. I’m in love with you,” he murmured. “And I will be for the rest of my days.”
Her eyelids fluttered open and she blinked up at him, her lips parted and her eyes glassy with lust. “I love you too.”
She’d said it before. It had never been in doubt.
“And I’m in love with you,” she whispered. “So much. Forever.”
Epilogue
Three years later
Logan came home to a quiet, dark house. He dumped his gear in the oversized closet in the mudroom, unlaced his boots, then tiptoed upstairs. A dim light was on in their bedroom, but it sounded like Tori was asleep already.
He turned to the other door and stood there, suddenly tired and full of emotion. It had been a long exercise. He was done with being away from home, too.
From behind him, his wife’s voice whispered, “Do not even think about pushing that open and waking her up.”
Logan froze and turned on the spot, a guilty, sheepish smile on his face. “Sorry, babe.”
Tori leaned against the doorjamb of their bedroom and shook her head, her thick, dark waves spilling around her face as she smiled at him. “She’s fast asleep. You can’t help yourself, can you?”
“I missed her, what can I say?” Their daughter was the light of his life. He’d avoided going on tour in the eighteen months since her birth, but his job still meant he left regularly for training.
“You were only gone for five days.” This time. And Tori was a saint for putting up with it. That was going to change, though.
He prowled across the hall to his wife. “I missed you, too.”
“Come to bed and show me how much,” she whispered back.
He slid his hands under her bathrobe, finding silky skin and nothing else. He groaned and dropped to his knees, pressing his face against the swell of her second-trimester belly. “I’ll show you right here.”
“I’m not sure that—” Tori grabbed his head and gasped as he kissed the sweet spot where her thigh met her belly. “Oh.”
He dropped lower and lifted her leg up onto his shoulder. “Hold on.”
“To what, you crazy man.” Then she shuddered as his tongue found her folds. “Oh, Logan.”
That’s what he liked to hear. His name on his wife’s lips. Her sighs of pleasure as he tasted her, as he made her slick with desire.
He went slow, taking his time. Long, dragging licks. Soft, suckling pulls on her clit. Pregnancy had made her more sensitive, and she liked it gentle right now.
It didn’t take long. Her sex bloomed, swelling and slicking, making his face all messy in the best way before she sucked in a quiet, gasping breath and tightened her hand in his hair.
As she shuddered through her orgasm, he licked up every last drop of her come. Then he sat back on his heels and grinned up at her. “Good one?”
“So good.” She shivered, and reached for him, pulling him up to stand with her. “Your turn now.”
No way was he having his pregnant wife on her knees. Not tonight. He led her to the bed, then let her take over.
She pushed him back, crawling on top, her hair spilling everywhere. Over her swollen breasts, against his balls. Dragging along his thighs as she shimmied into position between his legs.
Naughty girl. Perfect girl. “Suck me,” he demanded hoarsely.
She stuck out her tongue and swiped a bead of pre-come instead.
He groaned and closed his eyes.
The next swipe was slower. Wetter. And then, blessedly, her whole mouth covered him. Soft, sweet suckling at first, then firmer pulls, tugging him into her throat.
Just like her, it didn’t take long.
Just like him, she licked every drop up, then crawled up his body to curl into his side.
She ran her fingers though the narrow thicket of hair on his belly. “I’m going to miss how ravenous you are after a separation.”
“I’m still going to be that hungry for you on a day-in, day-out basis, I promise.”
“Yeah?” She gave him a look of happy surprise.
God yes. “I need you every single day, Tori. Never doubt that.”
“I don’t,” she whispered. “But with kids and marriage…I mean, things may slow down. Eventually.”
“Sure. But they will pick back up again, too. And when things slow down, that’s a little reminder for us to take a bit of time for each other. When we get settled in the new place, we’ll see if the guys will babysit and I’ll take you dancing.”
“The guys? All of them?”
“Brayden can take care of the newborn, Will and Mick will have to tag-team Bella.” He meant that earnestly. Toddlers were a handful.
Tori laughed. “I’m not leaving the baby so we can go dancing.”
“Then Brayden will come along and rock our wee babe on the edge of the dance floor.” He rolled her onto her back and rubbed her tummy. “Whatever makes you happy.”
They’d spent the last three years in Coronado.
The last little member of their family would arrive one month before Logan got out of the navy for good. And two days after his discharge, they were moving to Miralinda, because Will hadn’t given up his professional pursuit of Tori. For the last year, she’d worked remotely for them, getting their financial systems in order so they could all concentrate full-time on the other parts of their business.
Logan wouldn’t be joining them, at least not any time soon.
Peace had been a long time coming for him. He’d done his duty and then some. And by some unlikely miracle, he’d gotten the girl, too, despite his boneheaded early missteps.
Now it was time to rest, and be a dad. To be present as his kids grew up. To be present as his wife had her turn at the wild career ride.
“What are you thinking about?” Tori murmured, twisting around so she could kiss his skin.
“How amazing you are.” A wave of emotion hit him fast and hard, and he hauled her into his arms. “Come here, woman. Let me kiss you.”
She laughed and threw her arms around his neck. “Always.”
