She licked her lips and smiled. “Well, that sounds a little more like a reward than a punishment, but if you insist.”
He grinned. “Damn you, woman. You drive me nuts, you know that?”
“I know.”
“Well then cut it out.” He laughed.
“So you really weren’t breaking things off for good?”
“No. I was just angry and so tired of fighting all the time. I figured if we took some time apart that it would be good for the both of us. Plus you had your last year of school to finish up. I know your dad’s death put you behind in your studies. And between our arguing and my growing frustration I figured that old adage might be true.”
“Old adage?”
“You know… absence makes the heart grow fonder.”
“Ahh… that one.”
“Yeah.”
A silence filled the room as they both sat there, looking into one another’s eyes.
“So now what?” she asked.
“What do you mean?”
“Where do we go from here?”
“Well, you have school to finish up, right?”
“Actually, I took my last final a few days ago before coming back to town.”
“What? You’re finished?”
“With classes, yes. Though I won’t be walking in the ceremony until this May, I’m technically graduated.”
His face lit up. “That’s great, baby. I’m so proud of you.”
If only he knew how much those few words meant to her, she wondered.
“Thank you.”
“So, does that mean you’re here to stay then?”
“That kind of depends.”
“On what?”
“On you.”
“On me, huh?” he cocked an eyebrow. “How so?”
“Well, Stacey and I drive each other crazy. We’re so different. And her constant nagging makes me nuts.”
“Ahh… pot or kettle, babe?”
She smirked. “Anyway… I could technically stay in one of the rooms at the Casino, but it’s always so touristy in town. So, I guess if I do stay I’d have to find somewhere to live. You know, just so sis and I don’t kill one another.”
“Oh of course.” He laughed. “Well, it’s not anything fancy. But, I might have a little extra room at my place.”
“But, you only have one bedroom. Where would I sleep?” she teased.
“Woman, do you want me to spank you?”
Waggling her brows, she replied. “Maybe.”
He cupped her face in his hands and leaned in to kiss her. The moment his lips touched hers she knew it was going to be okay. All the months of missing him seemed like a distant and bad memory now.
She may have acted foolishly, and even reckless, but it had all been worth it. She had what she'd come home for.
She had… Kevin.
Chapter Eight
Eleven o’clock in the evening, The Hammond Family Cabin, Gilpin County, CO…
Kevin felt the fire race through his veins the second he tasted Lori’s kiss. He’d been so busy putting space between them that he’d forgotten just how intoxicating she could be. Maybe she’d been right, and he hadn’t really communicated what his intentions had been. Hell, he knew she was right. She may have been a spoiled brat at times, but he wasn’t so oblivious that he couldn’t see the truth when it was staring him right in the face.
He’d make up for the time they’d spent apart. They both would.
Together.
Like they should have been all this time.
Their kiss intensified as he came forward and they both fell to the floor. He had definitely missed her, of that there was no doubt. But, as tried to take things slow and cherish every swipe of her tongue and curve of her body, it was his own body that was fighting him relentlessly.
He was hard and ready to take her. His turgid cock was leaking in anticipation, so ready to feel the sweet embrace of her pussy.
“I want you.” She whispered, answering his silent pleas of desperation.
“Fuck, I want you too.”
“Make love to me, Kevin.”
He hovered over her, looking down at her gorgeous green eyes. There was a craving building in them. A craving that he knew exactly how to feed.
Placing his hands on either of her thighs, he spread her legs open, almost losing his control when he saw the neatly shaven strip of brown hair which covered her pussy.
He had to be inside her.
Now.
Grabbing onto his cock, he leaned forward and pressed his head at her entrance. They moaned in unison as he pushed himself inside.
She had always been tight, her body hugging him in all the right places. There was something about this time that made it different, though.
Her inner walls squeezed at his dick, while the wet heat of her sex covered him in the sweetest agony.
He’d barely began sliding back in forth, allowing their bodies to stroke the other when he felt the unrelenting claw of his orgasm race up his spine.
“Fuck!” he shouted. “You’re so tight, baby.”
Reaching down, he pressed his thumb on her clit, massaging it and working the sensitive nub until she started to writhe beneath him.
“That’s it. Come on, baby.”
He needed to see her lose herself. Too many months and sleepless nights had passed since he’d last seen her scream his name as she fell into the abyss.
“Kevin! Oh God… I’m…!” She bit down on her lower lip as she arched her back.
Animalistic sounds tore from him as her pussy clenched around his cock and liquid fire poured from her, coating his dick in a euphoric blend of pleasure and pain.
He couldn't have held back a second longer even if he'd wanted to. With a final thrust, he fell with her, collapsing on top of her as she wrapped her arms around him.
Seconds had passed. Maybe even minutes before he managed to catch his breath. Not having sex for half a year obviously took a toll on his stamina.
Lori had been right. He was a stubborn jackass. No matter how crazy she made him, he still loved her and their time apart had been hell.
“Kevin?”
He lifted his head off of her shoulder and looked down at her. “Yeah?”
“I love you.”
“I love you too, baby. And I’m sorry. I know I didn’t handle things very well.”
“Neither of us did.”
“I’ll agree to that.” He pressed his lips to hers and reveled in how good it felt to have his kiss met with heat instead of the icy chill he’d felt hours earlier.
She pulled away and smiled “Thank you.”
“For what?”
“Despite everything, you came for me. No matter how crazy I made you, you still came to my rescue. You’re my hero, my knight in shining armor.”
"Well, I don't know about that. Maybe knight in wet clothes, but not armor."
She giggled. “Okay, fine. But you’re still my knight, the one who battled a blizzard to save me.”
“It’s all part of the job, ma’am.” He winked. “But I will say, out of all the rescues, in all the years, you are by far my favorite damsel in distress.”
Shaking her head, she replied. “God, I love you so much.”
It was that love, that loyal and loving look in her eyes that filled Kevin. The sex was great, and their chemistry phenomenal. But it was the woman, this woman, his woman, that made it all okay.
Lori was… home.

About the Story
Ottavia Wilkinson likes life plain, simple and uncomplicated. Unfortunately that’s led to a very predictable life. So when she starts to make changes to switch things up a little, she’s startled to find that she’s caught the eye of a local bad boy. Yet, with Christmas around the corner, her inner vixen convinces her to offer Julian Ryder a gift he can’t say no to…
Julian has always been attracted to Ottavia. To him she’s the epitome of everything a woman should be, but he knows she’s the sort that will never go for his type. But no one is more surprised than he when Ottavia starts to transform into a woman that is pure temptation. It makes it difficult for him to hide his feelings, but no way is he going to approach her. However, when she presents him with a Christmas gift beyond his wildest dreams all bets are off.
Chapter One
“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.”
Ottavia Wilkerson sang the jaunty tune softly under her breath. While only a few people preoccupied the library she still wanted to keep her voice down. As the head librarian of her town’s public library she had to lead by example.
She pushed her glasses up on her nose as she continued down the aisle. Once she reached the lobby she headed over to the Christmas tree and straightened a few of the branches askew. Nothing like little boughs of holly to brighten the day. It was only the first of December, but the tree had been put up two days after Thanksgiving.
She loved the holiday season. Every year she and her best friends, Trinity and Yves, volunteered to be on the town’s holiday planning committee. It was hard work, but worth it.
She made her way behind the counter and pulled out the next stack of books that needed to be put back on the shelf. The time on the clock told her only a few minutes remained until closing time. She couldn’t wait. Tonight she was getting together with her two best friends to hang out and have dinner. Nothing special, just going to do their usual girlfriend thing.
She’
d grown up with Trinity and Yves. They’d been inseparable since they started grade school together. They’d even gone to college together. Once they’d earned their respective degrees they’d migrated back to their hometown, Wayne, Nebraska. She’d actually been the last to return home because with her career choice of librarian, she had to obtain her Master’s degree. When she’d returned home, she’d started working at the library as the assistant librarian.
Four years later, Mrs. Larter retired and she’d stepped into the role of head librarian. Now at the age of thirty-two, she was well settled into her career and her life. Perhaps a little too settled. She refused to say she fit the stereotypical role of a librarian, but she came pretty close. Her life was plain, simple and uncomplicated. While that worked for her most of the time there were occasions when she just wanted to kick back and let loose. Unfortunately, that was difficult to do, especially in a town the size of Wayne.
While there were just under six thousand people in the town, a lot of the time it felt like that number was only fifty. Still, she was working on plan that would hopefully spice things up for the holiday.
She looked up at the clock and saw that fifteen minutes remained until closing time. That left her just enough time to shelve the last armful of books and herd the handful of patrons toward the door.
Twenty minutes later she was in her car, bundled up and headed to her apartment. Winter always brought a lot of snow and cold weather in Wayne and this year was no exception. Thankfully, there hadn’t been a blizzard or any winter storms.
