“Hey, beautiful,” he cheesed as I continued to glance at Shiloh’s house.

“Michael, you know this is the last time you can come up here,” I warned, taking the balloons and box. “What in the world did you get me, fool? What’s in here?”

“Open it. I know what a girl’s best friend is,” he said simply.

My mouth dropped. I quickly opened the box and saw the stunning diamond necklace sitting so smoothly against the velvet interior.

“Oh my God! No, you didn’t!” I freaked, jumping up to hug him. “Why would you do this? We’ve only been friends for—”

“I want you,” he said slowly, licking his lips. “If I have to wait for you to go through this bad boy phase with your boyfriend, I’ll wait, but I know you and I are meant to be together.”

I looked up at him, smile slowly dropping as we locked eyes. He was serious. He was actually serious. “Michael, you know I can’t—”

“I know,” he said, stepping closer. He tried to place his hand on my waist, but I backed up with a shake of my head. “You feel it as much as I do that we are meant for each other.”

“I am meant for my boyfriend,” I said, almost having to remind myself I had one. This necklace was no joke.

“You say that now.” He smiled, licking his lips as he backed up. “Watch,” he said, walking back to his car. “I’ma show you how much you mean to me.”

  “Michael, don’t—”

“I’ma show you,” was all he kept saying.

I knew I had hurt his feelings, but he needed to know the truth. There was no way I could possibly be with him. Even if Shiloh and I broke up, I still wouldn’t be with someone like Michael.

Watching him back out, I headed to the house, setting my things down, and slipped into something more comfortable. It was my birthday, and Shiloh was nowhere to be found, not even a call or a text, yet Michael dropped by and freely handed me a diamond necklace. I smiled at the irony.

Grabbing my phone, I called Tyree, knowing he would have the best, funniest advice I could ever ask for.

“Hey, booski,” he greeted. I could hear the commotion of a photo shoot going on in the background. “What’s up, birthday girl?”

“So, you remember the guy at the church, the one I was telling you about?”

  “Mm-hmm.”

“So, he gave me a diamond necklace for my birthday,” I said.

He gasped. “Bitch! Are you serious? You been sucking his dick on the side, or what? What was the purpose of just randomly giving out—what does he do for a living?”

  “He’s a personal trainer.” I sighed.

“No, he’s not.” He laughed. “Ah, Harlem, you hear this shit? Nigga just drops by, hands her a diamond necklace, and says here: no sex, no kiss, not even a date. Girl, I wish I could bag ’em like you.”

“So, then he confesses that he wants me and that he’s willing to wait until Shiloh and me break up.”

“Ohhh! Gurl!” he screamed again. “Did you tell Shy-Shy?”

“No, and I don’t know if I should.”

“Mmmmph. Have you seen Shiloh at all?”

“Not even a fucking text message,” I muttered, looking at the balloons floating in the corner as I paced the floor.

“Did you see my birthday gift that I left in yo’ room?”

“What?” I laughed. “You still got the key?”

“I was just dropping off your little gift from me and mine to you and yours. Hope you use it wisely, trick,” he said sneakily.

I groaned. Knowing him, it was something I wouldn’t even know what to do with.

“What do I do about Michael?” I asked.

“Gurrrrl,” he sang. “Tell that nigga he don’t want it with my man Shiloh, honey. Personal trainer my ass. Please. Nigga selling dope and passing out bootleg mixtapes like every other bum nigga in Atlanta. Check and see if that necklace is even real, boo, before you get all wet in the panties over that nigga,” he said.

I smiled. Why did I call him?

“You know what you need to do?”

“What, Tyree?” I pressed as I heard a loud engine sound outside of my house. I quickly glanced out the window, seeing Shiloh step out of his truck, wearing a suit.

  Hold up. Huh?

“Tyree, let me call you back. Shiloh just came by.”

“Tell him I said heeeyyy!” he sang.

I heard girls in the background laughing as I hung up on the fool. Opening the door, I watched him walk up looking like . . . damn. He had cut his hair to a low fade, no more curly hair. He had a diamond stud in each ear, and he was wearing all black—pants, dress shoes, tie, and blazer buttoned up in the middle, with a black Rolex. Those low eyes, dark as coal, with the teardrop tattoos underneath his eye, stood out against all the black.

“What’s good, birthday girl?” he said in a low voice as I wrapped my arms around his neck, cheesing like a spoiled child. He walked us both into the house, closing the door behind him as I kissed him.

“You look amazing,” I said, stunned, touching his hair. “I thought you forgot about me.”

“Go get dressed. Put on something sexy and pack an overnight bag. We stepping out tonight,” he said.

I quickly let go, already trying to think about the outfits in my head. Sexy, sexy. I took a shower, still trying to think of an outfit. Red was best on my complexion, and it was his favorite color by association. Soon, going through my closet, I decided on a cute wine-colored, body-con long-sleeve dress that dipped low enough to show the right amount of cleavage. My hair just needed to be retouched, rebounced a little. I put on smoky eye makeup with the right amount of accessories.

As I packed my overnight bag, I caught the small Victoria’s Secret bag beside my bed with another bag inside of it. Grabbing it, I looked at the birthday card inside.

Word on the Carter Street is that Shiloh said ur the one. One. Well, if that’s the case, I bought some goodies for u. Use them wisely. Let that nigga dick u down, and then call me and tell me all about it. Kisses!

  XOXO

  Ontrell & Tyree

I looked in the bag, seeing a full-blown red lace lingerie ensemble, red vibrator, and condoms decorating the bottom of the bag. I was so going to kill Tyree when I saw him. I ended up taking the vibrator and lingerie, putting it inside my bag. When I walked out, Shiloh looked up at me, and his eyes explored. A slow smile spread across his face.

  “You like?” I asked.

“Turn around so I can see the back,” he demanded softly.

I did a slow turn, hand on my hip, before facing him once more. He said nothing. He didn’t need to.

“You ready?” I asked, grabbing my coat as he stood up, almost eye level with my heels on.

Just when we were about to walk out—I mean we were sooo close to the door—he stood behind me, hand on my lower back, grabbing the balloons.

“Who got you this?” he asked before looking at the small box sitting on the table next to the door. He opened it up, and I sighed.

Fuck it. It was going to come out anyway.

“Michael did,” I mumbled, looking up at him. He eyed the necklace, confused. “I didn’t know he was getting me a gift. He just dropped it off not too long ago.”

“He came by here?” he asked, still eyeing the necklace.

I just wanted to walk the hell on out already. “I didn’t let him in the house,” I said quickly. “Just stopped by, handed me the gift, and that was that. Small gesture of kindness. I hope you’re not upset.”

He looked at me, no expression as usual, before cutting the light off, gently pushing me out the door. “I’m not threatened by a nigga who gives a girl jewelry made in China,” he said simply as he locked the door. “How he know where you stay?”

“I honestly have yet to figure that out,” I told him as we walked to his brand new, all-black Escalade.

He glanced at me as he opened my door. I already knew that blank look.

  “I don’t know, Shiloh! I’m telling the
truth!”

“Let me find out you talking to that nigga on the low, shawty,” he threatened as my mouth dropped. “How did he get in contact with you? I thought you changed your house number.”

“He called my cell,” I admitted quietly.

He smirked, closing the door as he went to the driver’s side.

Fucking Michael. Ruining my birthday, and he ain’t even here!

“Shiloh, I put this on everything I love, including you,” I said, staring hard at him. “I shouldn’t even have to explain myself, but out of respect for us, I will. I don’t know how he has any access to me outside of the church. I have never given my number out to anyone, nor my address, so I’m a bit freaked out about it, to be honest.”

Just as soon as I said it, my phone started to ring. UNKNOWN flashed on the screen. Shiloh looked at it before snatching it out of my hand to answer.

  “Are you serious—”

  “Who is this?” he answered.

“Who the hell is this?” I heard my daddy snap back.

I tried reaching for the phone.

“Why the fuck is you calling my girl’s phone if—”

“Daddy!” I called out, snatching the phone away from a shocked Shiloh. “Hello?”

“Who is that talking like they fucking crazy on the goddamn phone, Noelle?” he screamed as I sighed, trying to apologize on Shiloh’s behalf.

As soon as I smoothed it over with my dad, I hung up.

Wonderful fucking birthday so far. Awesome to turn twenty-six. Feels great.

As Shiloh drove, he glanced at me. “Aye, I’m—”

“Shut the fuck up,” I snapped, and he immediately went silent. “Don’t say shit. Just drive.”

I couldn’t and wouldn’t allow myself to be mad at him for too long, but he needed the silent treatment from me. Me being quiet made him uncomfortable, so it was effective.

He took me to this nice, fancy restaurant in Buckhead. We were served personally by the head chef, who let us try a little bit of everything from the menu. The wine was amazing, and the atmosphere was rich in every sense of the word.

Once we left the restaurant, he drove into downtown Atlanta, letting a valet take care of his truck as we entered the Hyatt Regency hotel. The view was amazing as the elevators carried people up and down the floors. There were bright lights with beautiful decorations all throughout the hotel.

Waiting on the side as I looked around, I felt a hand on my back.

“You ready, baby?” he said, taking my bag in his hand.

I nodded, and we got on the elevator, going all the way to the top floor. As soon as we entered our room, I nearly fainted at the sight of it. It was certainly bigger than your average apartment. There was a living room, with floor-to-ceiling windows showing the view of downtown. There was a flat screen TV, king-size plush bed, and a garden-size Jacuzzi tub that was already waiting and ready for me to get in. Rose petals floated on top, with two glasses of champagne on the side.

I looked at him, watching him take his jacket off. “Shiloh,” I said slowly, feeling myself get excited. “How long do we have this room for?”

  “Two nights.”

“Oh, I am so calling off work tomorrow,” I shrieked, hugging him hard as I kissed him. “I can get in? I can get in the tub?” I asked, pointing.

He nodded, smiling. I’d never had anything this fancy, or been around anything this nice before. Stripping down in the bathroom, I stepped foot in the tub, feeling the heat numb with each rising on the skin. Oh my God . . . Sinking my body completely in, I sighed, head resting on the towel propped for me as he walked in.

“You good?” he asked, sitting up against the wall on the floor, watching me.

“Aren’t you getting in?” I questioned.

“I’d rather sit and just talk to you,” he said as I smiled.

Taking the two glasses, we clinked them together, added a simple kiss, and relaxed. We talked about everything—stuff at my job, the future, his family, and my family. Everything.

“How can you afford all of this?” I asked.

  He smiled. “How you think?”

“You sell drugs, I know, but it can’t be this profitable,” I reasoned.

He just smiled, licking his lips. “I own a couple of clubs here in Atlanta and New York,” he said simply, and my mouth dropped. “A couple of properties in Miami, too.”

  “Legally?”

“Yeah. My pops, when I was about seventeen, told me to start investing into some shit early while I had the money. I still didn’t fuck with him after they had me put in juvie, but he told me some real shit back then. So, I got into it. Sold everything you can think of. Money was either saved up or put somewhere else. So, even while I was in prison, I was still making money. I got a couple of things in the triplets’ names just in case something was to ever happen, but I don’t sell drugs no more,” he said simply. “People think I do, but I got tons of young niggas that will do that shit for me without hesitation. It’s a small fee to sell, move product of any kind in my territory. I got cops on payroll to watch out for the niggas selling in their area, and I got the top-of-the-line lawyers ready and waiting if some shit were to go down.”

“So, why do you live in that house if you make all this money?” I asked, stretching my legs up as he watched the movement.

“I don’t live there all the time. I got other places I could stay, but I like to keep close to you, so that’s where I stay,” he said softly.

I smiled. He was so damn bashful and shy it was almost cute.

“What time is it?” I asked.

He looked at his phone. “Going on eleven o’clock at night.”

I smiled, sitting up as I let the water out, careful to get the soapy suds off of me. Tonight was the night. I wanted to lose it before my birthday was over.

“You’ll get me a towel, babe?” I asked, slowly stepping out as he eyed me, standing up against the wall. He handed me a towel and looked away as I dried myself. The ends of my hair were wet, so I pressed the towel against the strands, trying to dry it.

“Babe?” I started, his back still toward me.

“What’s up?” he asked, clearing his throat.

“You have less than an hour to take away my virginity. I want to give it up before midnight,” I said softly.

“Man, Noelle, don’t play with a nigga like—”

“I am so serious,” I said, stepping in front of him, knowing he was trying his hardest not to look at me. “It has to be perfect. Music, rose petals, beautiful view. This is as romantic as it gets.”

“You playing,” he said with a roll of his eyes. “I can’t keep having blue balls fucking around with you.”

I just shrugged, turned, and walked out, making my way to the bed. I cut off all the lights, so the only thing brightening the room were the city lights from other buildings. I lay back on the bed, slowly opening my legs wide, coaxing him with my finger.

“Nah, fuck nah,” he said, and I laughed. “You not getting me caught up with yo’ sexy ass. Hell no.”

“Shiloh? Baby, come here,” I let out.

He would not move from that bathroom; just stared at me. “Aye, I’m going the fuck off on you, shawty, if you tell me no right before. All this shit will get shut down. You feel me?”

I just smiled and nodded. I was so anxious now, because it was really happening. I was going to have sex for the first time!

Walking to the bed, he slowly stripped down to his boxer briefs while reaching in his bag, pulling out condoms. Several.

“Now is the time to tell me to stop, Noe,” he pressed, pulling his phone out as he set it to a playlist.

“I promise I won’t.” I smiled as I watched him move about the room. “What are you doing?”

“Giving you time to change yo’ mind,” he mumbled, sitting on the chair across from the bed, looking at me, waiting.

I scooted to the front of the bed where the pillows were, and lay back gently, closing my eyes as the music start
ed. Silk’s “Freak Me” came on. I opened my eyes, seeing Shiloh walking toward the edge of the bed, licking his lips. His body was rough with marks, tattoos, bruises, and ripped with toned muscles lining up his stomach.

He grabbed my ankle, pulling me down closer to the end. There was no turning back now. I was ready for this. I wasn’t the type of girl to want to have sex with different men. It had to be one man, same man, every time.

There was no body part left untouched by the time he lay completely on the bed on top of me. I was licked, kissed, bit in so many places, with my thighs being the most sensitive. He came up to my neck as I gripped his sides, feeling his right hand hold onto my left thigh, keeping it up against him.

“Anywhere” by 112 dropped in, and I smiled. I loved this song. I’d never imagined myself making love to it. I hissed hard before replacing it with a moan as he bit down on my neck once more.

“Again,” I breathed as he lifted my chin up, biting underneath before kissing the same spot. Feeling him move lower, I kept my hands on his shoulders as he played with each nipple in such slow, dramatic form that I nearly starting whining. I couldn’t handle that kind of torture, not on my first try.

“Mmm,” he groaned, head looking at the thigh he had so close to him. “Sexy chocolate thigh right here,” he teased before biting down on my inner thigh, causing me to moan. Leading a trail with this thick tongue, he came to the center, clamping down on everything, hitting every sensitive nerve as I gripped his head, looking down at him with my mouth dropped.

“What are you . . . doing to me, Shi,” I groaned, head falling back.

He lifted his head up, gripped both thighs, spreading them wider, lifting them higher as he dove back in. I felt his tongue slide inside of me like he was searching for something. I didn’t have it. I swear, whatever he was looking for, I didn’t have it. My God, I couldn’t handle this!

“Please!” I cried, gripping the sheets.

He lifted once more, spread my legs as wide as they could go, before taking his tongue farther back, until he reached a spot I never knew could be licked in the first place. My body started jerking violently as he let my thighs rest on his shoulders.
