Ultimate Risk (R.I.S.C. Book 6)

He reached for the button resting at the top of her enticing cleavage. “As much as I love these pajamas”—he popped the button open—“I’d love to see what’s underneath even more.”
Before he could undo the second button, Mac’s hands were there. Slowly, as though she wanted to savor the moment every bit as much as he did, she began releasing the rest.
One by one, she kept her eyes on his until the last of the buttons were pulled free. Without a word, she reached up and pushed the top apart, letting it fall to the floor in a smooth, shiny pile.
Coop lost his ability to breathe.
He couldn’t count the number of times he’d fantasized seeing her breasts. Had imagined what they’d look like without her tight t-shirts and bulletproof vest.
A few weeks ago while they were at a fundraiser gala, he’d gotten the closest he’d ever come when she’d showed up wearing a short, black dress that showed more than a little cleavage.
Though he sure as fuck would never admit it to her—or anyone else—Coop had since used the memory of Mac in that sequined dress and those fuck-me heels to get himself off on more than a few occasions.
He’d imagined himself unzipping the dress slowly before slipping the thin, spaghetti straps from her delicate shoulders to reveal the most perfect breasts imaginable.
Looking at her now, Coop realized fantasy had nothing on the real thing.
He reached up, cupping each of the perfect globes in both hands. Mac closed her eyes and moaned, her fingers sliding up to his biceps. Using his thumbs, he flicked her rose-colored nipples, causing her to gasp.
Mac’s fingertips dug into his arms before reaching down to the hem of his shirt. Wanting nothing more than to feel her hands on his skin, Coop released her breasts to pull it up and over his head.
Moving in closer, Mac ran her fingers over his collar bones. That first touch was electric, his muscles tightening beneath her fingers. She took her time, brushing them across his chest, her thumbs flicking across his nipples the same way he’d done to her.
Rather than continue her journey downward, Coop damn near swallowed his own tongue when she leaned in and licked one. His sudden intake of air encouraged her to do the same to the other side.
He felt the slight scoring of teeth, the pressure releasing a deep moan he didn’t even try to hold in. She smiled against his chest.
“You want to play games, baby? We can play.”
It was the only warning he gave. In the next second, Coop wrapped his hands around her small hips and picked her up, tossing her back onto the bed.
Mac’s blonde hair splayed out on the blanket beside her head. Her perfect, perky breasts called to him, the firm flesh begging for more of his touch. She was like an angelic temptress, her beauty rendering him momentarily speechless.
Her eyes darkened with the same heat threatening to burn him alive, and Coop knew this first time was going to be quick. To help stave off his impeding explosion, he decided to leave his jeans on…for now.
Reaching down, he curled his fingers around her satin waistband but stopped. As much as he wanted this—wanted her—he had to make sure she understood.
“Why are you stopping?” Her brows scrunched together.
Coop stared down at his partner. His…everything.
Releasing the elastic, he crawled onto the bed and knelt above her. Running his knuckles over her cheek, he held the side of her neck and leaned down.
With the softest of kisses, he swept his tongue into her mouth. That first taste had been all the proof he needed. There would never be another for him. Mac was the one.
It was too soon to reveal that sort of declaration, but he did need her to know…
“Some lines.” His lips brushed against hers as he spoke. “Some lines can’t be uncrossed.” Coop pulled back enough to see her eyes. He needed to be looking into them when he said this next part. “We do this, it changes everything. I need to know you’re okay with that.”
“We’re both shirtless and you’re lying on top of me.” She smirked. “I mean, you just had your tongue down my throat, so I’m pretty sure a line has already been crossed.”
He smiled but got serious again. “I mean it, Mac. You need to be sure.”
Looking as serious as he’d ever seen her, Mac used both hands to frame his face. “I am,” she assured him with a whisper. Then she kissed him.
Having gotten the answer he needed, Coop took over the kiss. They tasted and nipped. Their tongues dancing and taking.
Beneath him, Mac spread her legs wide. She lifted her hips, pressing her lower body to his. Grinding her thinly covered sex against the rough denim stretched tightly over his aching shaft.
Coop groaned, the sound traveling from his mouth to hers. Unable to wait any longer, he ripped his lips away and began leaving a trail of rough kisses along her jaw and neck…and lower.
He licked and nibbled his way down to that damn waistband, but this time he didn’t stop. Sliding his fingers into each side, he slid both the pajama bottoms and her panties down together.
Mac lifted her lower half from the mattress, making it easier for him to remove the items. Once they were freed, he tossed them aside, not caring where they landed. The only thing on Coop’s mind was her.
Looking at her. Touching her. Tasting her. And filling her with enough pleasure she’d only ever want to be with him.
Only me.
Coop stood at the edge of the bed, his pulse racing from that very first glance. In all his dreams combined, he’d never imagined a sight more beautiful than the one lying before him.
He glanced up, thankful as fuck when he found the same, confident look staring back at him. If he’d seen even a hint of hesitation he would’ve stopped.
Would’ve suffered from the worst case of blue balls in the history of blue balls, but he would’ve stopped. For her.
I’d do anything for her.
Having found nothing but raw, primal need, he got busy giving her what he knew she wanted. Wrapping his hands around her ankles, Coop carefully pulled Mac toward him.
The normally take-charge woman didn’t fight him or try to gain control of the situation. She simply lifted her arms up over her head, letting them rest there in a lazy, relaxed way.
His eyes traveled from her face to her breasts and flat, toned abs, and beyond. When he got his first glimpse of her sex, Coop’s cock twitched behind his zipper. The damn thing nearly exploded right then and there.
“You’re the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen,” he whispered softly. “I could look at you for days, but there’s something else I have to do.”
A corner of Mac’s mouth lifted. “What’s that?”
“Taste you.”
Unable to wait a second longer, Coop gently pushed her thighs apart and dove in. He ran the length of her slit with the tip of his tongue. Her musky arousal was the most exquisite flavor to have ever crossed over his taste buds.
Mac cried out, her hips shooting off the bed. Her bare sex pressed against his mouth as if it were asking for more.
More was definitely something he planned to give.
She moaned and writhed beneath his lips as Coop licked and laved, savoring every drop she was willing to offer. When he could tell she needed more, he inserted his thick, middle finger into her heated core.
Gasping, her inner muscles clenched down. She was tight and wet, and God, he couldn’t wait to feel himself inside her there.
“Please, Coop. I need you. Please.”
The woman who’d never asked for anything was pleading with him now. He made a silent vow to never, ever make her beg him for a damn thing again.
“I’ve got you, baby.”
He wanted in her so badly, he could taste it. But Coop was determined to give her everything she needed first.
Adding a second finger, he began to thrust harder. Faster. At the same time, he brought his lips and tongue up to her clit, sucking and flicking the swollen bundle of nerves with just the right amount
of pressure to take her to the cliff.
Mac’s gorgeous body shook. The hands that had been relaxed seconds earlier now fisted the bedding beside her.
He could feel her legs trembling against his face and her insides quivering.
“Oh, God, Coop. I’m so close.”
“Let go, baby.” He moved his hand faster. “It’s okay. I’ve got you.” He bent down, sucked her clit between his lips.
She exploded.
With a loud, keening sound, Mac threw her head back. Coop slid his fingers from her body and covered her core with his mouth. A rush of hot arousal hit his tongue, and he sucked and licked until he’d consumed every last drop.
Releasing her thighs, he stood straight and removed his wallet from his back pocket. Pulling out the condom packet—the one from the new box he’d stopped and bought on his way over here, just in case—Coop tossed the foil square onto the bed beside her.
He was clean and knew she was, too. Each team member got tested for a whole gambit of things every six months as a precaution.
Not because they all slept around carelessly. But because they traveled to too many places, immersing themselves in too much of the world’s worst shit to take any chances with their health and safety.
Even so, Coop would still protect this woman in every way he knew how. Always.
Setting the wallet on her nightstand, he quickly undid his belt and carefully—so fucking carefully—pulled down his zipper. Though he wore boxer-briefs, the relief he felt from simply opening his jeans nearly caused him to moan.
Speaking of moaning…
After toeing off his shoes and removing his socks in record time, Coop pushed his pants and boxers down off his hips. Mac’s eyes lowered, the set of shiny blue embers burning with hunger when they landed on his full, aching cock.
He fisted himself, pinching the tip between his fingers. Christ, just seeing her this way threatened to ignite what he knew would be his greatest orgasm ever.
One he couldn’t hold off forever.
With that in mind, he grabbed the foil square, ripped it open, and quickly sheathed himself before climbing back onto the bed. Balancing his body over hers, Coop reached between them, positioning himself to her molten entrance.
He waited, giving Mac one last chance to change her mind. Beneath him, she tilted her pelvis and dug her nails into his back.
“Now, Sean. I need you now.”
Coop brought his mouth to hers. Kissed her slowly, showing her he could be gentle. Then, right before he surged his hips forward, he kept his eyes on hers and whispered, “I’m going to make you scream.”
Mac sucked in a rush of air, the sensation of Coop’s body entering hers stealing her breath away. A low moan rumbled inside his chest, the sensation of their two bodies becoming one affecting him just as strongly.
I’m going to make you scream.
In all her sex-with-Coop fantasies, she’d never, ever imagined him being such a primal, alpha male.
In the field, absolutely. The guy was the best sniper she’d ever worked with. A total badass who could’ve coined the phrase, One shot, One Kill. But in bed?
Sean Cooper was the perfect combination of sweet gentleman and heart racing, sexual god. And, oh my god the way it felt to have him moving inside her…
“Jesus, Mac.” He kissed her as he pushed forward. “You feel…so good. So…fucking…good.”
Mac wanted to tell him he felt better than anything she could’ve ever imagined, but she was too busy gasping. Moaning.
Asking him to stay was the best decision she’d ever made.
Coop thrust in and out of her slowly, filling her to the rim. Impossibly, she could feel the pressure building deep inside her once more.
She’d never climaxed twice in one setting before. Of course, she’d never been with a man who made her entire body spark to life the way he had.
From that very first touch, she knew it would be better with Coop. She’d always known.
“That’s it.” Coop urged her on. “God…yes.”
So…much…better.
He slid his hand to where they were connected. Using his fingertips, he pressed down onto her clit. Began moving in fast, tight circles.
“Come on, baby,” he urged her on. “Can’t…hold…back.”
Mac screamed his name.
Her second orgasm hit with even more force than the first. She felt her body locking down onto him again as she continued flying.
Coop thrust three more times, his movements rough and uneven.
Perfect.
He growled out her full name as he fell off the same, earth shattering cliff.
Their chests heaved in sync with one another’s. Their breaths escaping in a cadence of loud, rough pants. And Mac had never felt more alive than in that very moment.
She stared up at him and smiled. “That was—”
The rest of what she was about to say was cut off by his lips pressing against hers. The kiss began hard and fierce. Eventually slowing to an easy, delectable pace.
When he pulled away, Coop gave her an unapologetic grin. “Didn’t want to hear you say it was a mistake.”
Oh, but it was. For so many reasons. “I was going to say incredible.”
Because yeah. It was that, too.
His adorable smile grew before he leaned down and kissed her again. This time it was short and chaste.
“Glad you thought so, too.” He eased back, carefully freeing himself from her body. “Be right back.”
Mac instantly missed the fullness she’d only ever felt with him. As he walked to the bathroom, she used the stolen moment to appreciate his sculpted physique.
There were a few scars here and there, proof of his strength and dedication to his country. On his right bicep was a tattoo she’d seen numerous times, but until tonight, she hadn’t been able to touch.
Death Before Dishonor.
Those words were inked on a ribbon swirling around the image of a sharp dagger. He’d gotten it long before she ever knew he existed. It was a symbol many Rangers she’d served with used, but Mac knew for Coop, they were more than just words.
As deliciously sinful as the rest of him was, the man’s backside was a work of art.
From the broad shoulders she’d held to his defined back and muscular thighs, the man was seriously perfect. And then there was his ass.
Talk about a thing of beauty.
The two well-developed globes were just the right size, each one dipping in slightly as he walked. Mac’s insides tingled thinking of her heels digging into them, along with the repetitive tensing and relaxing she’d felt there as he’d driven himself into her.
Over and over again.
Her eyes dropped to the scar on the back of his right leg. An exit wound from when he’d been shot while they’d been in Venezuela.
What had started as a revenge mission had turned into a rescue when they found Olivia, her close friend and Jake’s wife, alive.
Mac could still feel the intense fear she had that day when she’d realized Coop had been hit. It was the first time since they’d become partners that he’d been injured like that.
It was also when she’d started to realize how truly important he was to her.
While Coop was presumably taking care of the condom and cleaning himself up, she got up and situated herself under the covers. Spent and satiated, Mac began to think about what would come next.
Normally, she’d already be dressed and gone. But that scenario didn’t really work for this situation. One, this was her place, and two…none of those other guys had been Coop.
Still, she could think of a billion reasons to send him home, the least of which being she never spent the night with a lover. Ever.
Not that she’d had many. Less than a handful—a number some would probably think was pathetic. She considered it being safe.
Those last few weeks before signing with the Army had taught her how dangerous it was to let anyone get too close. It was why she’
d never brought anyone here, to her apartment.
Despite the incredible lengths she’d gone to, to this day, Mac still couldn’t risk someone getting hurt because of her. So she’d had her fun and always left immediately after. No follow-up texts and absolutely no dating.
Women like her, they didn’t do strings or commitment. And they sure as hell didn’t spend the night cuddling with a man after a round of casual sex.
Mac was still lost in her thoughts when Coop came back out of the bathroom and crawled into the bed. Sliding across the mattress, he stopped short of snuggling up against her.
She didn’t tell him to leave. Why wasn’t she telling him to leave?
Because you don’t want him to go.
The tiny voice was right. In a few, short hours, Mac would be driving away from this city and everyone she cared about. And it was a very real possibility she was never coming back.
“That beautiful brain of yours sure is working hard.” He began running his fingers through her hair with a gentle ease.
“Just thinking of the list of things needed for my trip,” she lied. “Making sure I didn’t forget anything.”
His fingertips stuttered slightly before continuing their slow glide. “I really can’t change your mind on this, can I?”
“No.”
She felt his long sigh as if it were her own. But rather than argue, as she fully expected, he inched a little closer, wrapping his arm around her waist and slowly skimming her lips with his.
“Well, then,” he purred, nipping at her bottom lip. “I guess we’d better make the most of these next few hours.”
It took Mac all of half a second to give in to the warmth of his touch. She’d already broken all her rules by inviting this man, her partner, into her bed. Why not allow herself this one night to do what she wanted for a change?
To feel what she’d only ever dreamed of feeling.
Every day of her adult life had been a lie. An evasive, fabricated existence. But what had just happened with Coop was a truth she didn’t want to ignore.
At least not for tonight.

Two days later…
