‘I haven’t a clue.’
‘Andy Robertson of the Campbeltown Gazette. And furthermore, do you know what day this is?’
‘Eh? Saturday, I believe.’
‘Sure.’
‘So what?
Bulldog shook his head, wryly amused. We faced death and destruction for a story, boy. And now that we have it, we’re going to be scooped by the Sundays!’
‘Oh, no!’
‘Oh, yes!’ said the News Editor. ‘What will Miss Kelly say to us!’
Janet patted the bandage. ‘Never mind, Donald. There are other stories.’
He smiled at her, and she flushed as he caught her hand.
At the door a policeman coughed. ‘A car is waiting,’ he said. ‘The Inspector would like you to come as soon as possible.’
