Chased By The Light: Scion Series Book One Page 15

Laughing again, my nerves eased even more, but when I glanced at him, his serious expression made all the humor leave me.

"I'm being serious, Darlin’. This is a really big deal, and it's a huge amount of pressure. I don't want your first time to be a complete disappointment. You will remember this for the rest of your life. Shit, I don't think I can do this," he said, panic evident in his rushed words as he stood from the bed.

Scrambling across the bed on my knees, I leaped off, somehow landing on my feet. It didn’t take me long to catch him, and when I did, I grabbed his shoulder and spun him around, pushing his hard chest until he was against the wall. His wide, frightened eyes met mine, making me feel silly for the way I felt because I could plainly see he felt the exact same. He looked at me with wide and frightened eyes, I grinned at him, raised one eyebrow, and then said in a low and sultry voice,

Raising one eyebrow, I lifted one corner of my mouth into a half-smirk. "Where do you think you're going?” My voice was pure seduction in that moment. “Jesse, I want you to be my first. I want you to make me scream your name all night. I want you to make me scream until I can’t scream anymore.”

His mouth dropped open at my forwardness, but he stayed silent. I watched his eyes as they searched mine for something. But I was done searching, done waiting. Sliding my hands underneath his t-shirt, he released a husky moan and closed his eyes, my fingers brushing over his chiseled abs.

When his eyes opened again, I looked right into them. “I need you, Jesse. I want you more than I’ve ever wanted anything in my life.” I hadn’t even gotten the last words out when he picked me up by my ass and crushed my lips with his own.

Carrying me to the bed, we both fell onto it. Passion built between us, carrying us both. The only time his lips left mine, clothes were being removed. We were like magnets, sucked together by sheer force alone.

I moaned when his lips disappeared from mine, his body no longer stretched over mine. My hazy gaze found him positioning himself between my legs, trailing small kisses up each side of my thighs. Already delirious with need, I almost couldn’t take the teasing kisses. As soon as I opened my mouth to beg him for more, his tongue swept between my folds, finding my bud almost instantly.

After a few quick nibbles, he flicked it with his tongue, driving me crazy and making me grip the covers as the pressure built to a new high. When his finger dove inside me, I arched my back, allowing him even more access. A second finger followed the first, and I screamed with pleasure when he thrusted in faster, over and over, in and out.

It didn’t take long for my muscles to contract, and like an explosion went off in my body, waves and waves of pure pleasure rushed through me. Clenching the covers, I panted, watching as Jesse pulled his dripping fingers from me and sucked them into his mouth.

“Did that feel good?” he asked, his tone breathy and deep.

“Mmm-hmm,” I managed to say, but I was too high to get much else out.

With a grin, he trailed tiny kisses over each of my hips, then all the way up my stomach. Reaching my breasts, he circled each nipple with his tongue, pulling them in and sucking them almost to the point of pain, but it didn’t hurt at all. I moaned when his mouth moved to my neck, wanting those beautiful lips on my own, and when they finally were, I kissed him like he’d become the air I needed to breathe, tasting myself on him.

Jesse’s hands slid down my sides and past my hips as he grabbed my thighs and wrapped my legs around his waist, his erection prodding my entrance with each move he made.

The lust-filled haze lifted for a second as worry gnawed at me. I had no idea what was coming, I had only heard horror stories from my friends in school when they’d lost their virginity, so I was a little scared.

Pulling back, Jesse smiled at me, and I stared right into his gorgeous eyes. One of his hands brushed the hair away from my face, his thumb stroking my cheek. "Relax, Darlin’. I promise I'll take it slow, and if it hurts, tell me and I’ll stop, okay?" he told me in a whisper.

I nodded, relaxing at his words, and once he felt the tension ease from my body, his tip glided into my entrance.

Hissing as my body tried to take him all in, Jesse went to pull out, but I stopped him by grabbing his shoulders. "No! Keep going."

He pushed forward; his jaw clenched as he moved slow enough for me to stretch around him. It hurt a lot, and I bit my bottom lip to keep from crying out, while Jesse groaned, trying to ease inside so he didn’t hurt me more. Finally, the last of him was inside, and he waited a few seconds, letting my body adjust to his width.

When his eyes met mine, they were filled with concern. "Are you okay?"

I nodded, grabbing the back of his neck and bringing his head down so I could kiss him. One of his hands swept behind my neck, as he rested his weight on his elbows. Gripping my left thigh, he rolled back and forth, letting his cock slip in and out in a slow but steady manner. Once he was nice and lubricated, he thrusted in and out, a little harder each time. My pleasure-filled moans filled the room, and he went harder. Faster. Pounding into me with so much force I wanted to explode again.

My nails dug into his back, and he sped up even faster, turning rougher. His balls were slapping my ass, and the harder he pounded into me, the more I wanted. It was never enough. Never could it be enough.

The pressure mounting, building more and more, but I still wanted more. That was when he guided his hand between my legs, his fingers finding my clit in one swift movement, and within just a few strokes of those magical fingers, I threw my head back, screaming into my climax. My pussy squeezed his cock, and within seconds, his own orgasm overtook him, which sent a low primal growl echoing through the room.

Silence stretched out as we attempted to catch our breath. And at least a few more times that night, we had mind-blowing sex, sometimes slow and sensual, and other frantic, as if we couldn’t get enough of each other.

Eventually, we were both so exhausted we could hardly move. Every muscle I had ached, but the feelings I had rushing through my body made me ignore the pain. I laid there cuddled in his arms with my head on his chest, feeling the best I had ever felt before. I closed my eyes, ready to fall asleep and rest my tired body.

  "Jesse?" I whispered.

"Yes?" he asked in a husky voice.

"Thank you. You know, for being my first."

  "My pleasure, Darlin’."

I stretched in the bed, and every muscle I had still ached. It took a few seconds for me to remember why. When visions of last night flooded my mind, a huge grin spread across my face. A little moan escaped me as I rolled over, laying my arm across Jesse’s stomach. For a minute, I thought I had dreamed last night, but it was real. He was real, and it made the butterflies swarm my stomach.

Opening my eyes, I let my gaze roam over the man beside me, blushing as I scanned his muscle-covered body. Then I remembered kissing and licking those muscles and even biting. I’d never been a biter, but the way he made me feel last night, I couldn’t stop myself from sinking my teeth into his shoulder. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d do half the things I had last night, and truthfully, I couldn’t wait to do it all again.

I bit my bottom lip while tracing his six-pack with my fingertip the guy's body was a work of art. It was strange because he didn't look all that big in his clothes, but every bit of him was rock solid. I saw his lips curl into a smile as he started to wake, and it wasn't the only thing that was awake. The tented blanket covering him told me his body wanted exactly what mine did. When he opened those gorgeous green eyes and smiled, I returned the gesture, my cheeks blushing as I snatched my hand away.

He grabbed my hand and put it back on his stomach. "No! Don't stop, that felt amazing." His sleepy voice was even sexy. This man might just be the death of me…

I chuckled and pick up where I left off, and a groan fell from his lips. Quicker than I had time to react, he picked me up by my waist and planted me on his lap, straddling him. My jaw hung open in shock as I wonder
ed how he had the strength to pick me up like that. With my hands on his bare chest, I leaned back, his erection pressing into my ass. I leaped forward.

Jesse chuckled. "He's just happy to see you."

After I raised one eyebrow, I smashed my lips against his, and those butterflies in my stomach flapped their wings even harder. After riding him hard into both of our climaxes, I collapsed onto his chest and listened to his heartbeat, something I could do all day, every day if he’d let me. His hand stroked my hair while I struggled to catch my breath, but after a while, my eyes grew heavy again. Sensing the change in me, Jesse rolled me off him and tucked me into his bed, holding me close enough that I could lay my head on his chest again. Listening to the steady beat of my heart, I drifted off to sleep.

When I woke, Jesse's chest wasn't underneath my head anymore. Burying my face in my pillow, I groaned, flipped over, and let my eyes drift open to gaze at the ceiling. Since Jesse wasn’t in the room, I used the bathroom, threw my clothes on, and hobbled down the stairs to try to find him. I searched everywhere in the cabin, but he was nowhere to be found. Panic settled in when I checked out back and he wasn’t there, and his car wasn’t in the drive either.

I’d searched everywhere, and no Jesse. He’d left me here alone…

Sitting on the couch, I picked up my phone. A missed call from Jesse flashed across the screen, and he’d left a voicemail. Calling my voicemail, I put it on speakerphone and stood, making my way to the kitchen so I could make some coffee while I listened. I sat down on the couch and picked up my phone.

“Message received at ten twenty-three a.m.,” The voicemail robot announced.

"Hey, Darlin’. Just thought I'd let you know I've gone to get us some breakfast. I didn't want you waking up and thinking I'd left you. I was waiting for you to wake up so that I could ask you... Um..." He paused on the message, while I stirred the cream in my coffee, before I walked carefully to the couch, sitting down just as he continued. "Shit, I had this whole speech planned out, and I thought it would be easier asking over the phone, but it's not. Look, I'll just spit it out, then we can discuss it when I get home. Aubrey, would you do me the honor of being my girlfriend..."

I sat forward as I spat my coffee all over myself. I was shocked that he'd asked me, and to be honest, I would have preferred it in person, but I could hear how nervous he’d been, so maybe it scared him to ask me to my face.

He let out a long moan on the message. "Seriously Jesse, shit, it sounded like a proposal.” Another pause, and this one was awkward, which made me chuckle. “I'm no damn good at this kinda crap. Look just forget it, last night was unbelievable, you're incredible, and I will ask you properly when I get home. You mean the world to me, and I'm so happy that I met you. See you soon, Darlin’."

I giggled as the phone beeped and the call ended. A case of the warm and fuzzies erupted inside of me. There was no question about it…I was definitely going to say yes when he got back. In fact, I wouldn’t even give him a chance to say anything. He got so tongue-tied and nervous, so I’d put him right out of his misery as soon as he arrived.

Wondering if I had time for a shower, I glanced at my phone, checking the time. It was almost four p.m. Maybe something was wrong with my digital clock, so I searched online for the time. Nope, still almost four.

Which meant it had been almost five hours since he had left that message.

Without thinking, I punched call on my phone, worry gnawing on my gut. There should be no reason for Jesse to be gone that long when he had only gone to get breakfast.

It went straight to voicemail. "Jesse, where are you? I'm really worried, call me!"

I hung up and tried again, but it went straight to voicemail again. Waiting another five minutes was agonizing, but I did it before I called again. Like before, it didn’t ring once, only went to voicemail. My heart pounded so hard in my chest that it vibrated my throat, and I thought any second now it would burst out of my mouth.

Wait. Maybe Payton knows something, I thought.

Even though I had no idea where I was, or whether Jesse was coming back or not, I called her. I needed someone to talk to or I’d go even crazier.

"Hey Payton," I said in a crackly voice, trying to hold back tears.

"Brie, where the hell are you? I've been trying to get ahold of you all last night, and most of today!" she said, her tone angry.

"Don't be mad at me, Pay. Just come and get me. Please.”

  "Where are you exactly?"

"I don't know. Jesse brought me out to a cabin, but he left, and the bastard hasn't come back. Payton, he used me!" I said as tears began to roll down my face.

My guess was that he went out, felt like he needed to ask me out because he'd taken my virginity, then decided against it and fucked off, leaving me here to rot.

"Oh, God. Brie. You don't know do you?" Her voice was barely a whisper, and the way she spoke the words had me frozen.

"Know what?" I replied, holding one hand to my heart.

"I'll tell you when I get there. Leave your phone on so I can track you through the GPS. Remember when we used to have to use it to find your phone after a night of drinking?" The chuckle she gave me was forced. Even I could tell that.

"Yeah, I remember. Just hurry. I don't want to be out here alone," I replied, glancing at the now too-open cabin.

"Don't worry, Brie. We'll be there soon, I promise."

"Oh, and bring me a burger, I'm starving," I demanded.

  "Okay, see you soon."

With that, she hung up, leaving nothing but silence around me. How could Jesse have just left me here like that? It made no sense. Scrolling through my phone again, I found another missed call around 3 this afternoon, and a voicemail I’d missed. I didn’t hesitate to click on play.

  "Darlin’...I'm sorry..."

Those were his only words, and then the line went dead.

All the different thoughts ran through my mind, driving me to the point of insanity. I laid down on the couch and slipped the soft blanket off the back, laying it over me. The tears came next. I bawled my eyes out, feeling more hurt than I'd ever been before. It stung even more than when I caught Kyle sleeping with someone else. This was breaking me in half, and with each passing second, the pain just got worse.

Eventually, I must have cried myself to sleep, because the next thing I remember was a light tapping on the front door.

I groaned. "Coming, one sec." My shout was half-assed to be sure.

I scrambled from the couch and threw the blanket on it, dragging myself to the door. Throwing it open, I stood as still as a statue, my mouth partially opened when I laid eyes on who greeted me.

"Chase, what the hell are you doing here?" I asked, the words shooting from me in an angry snarl.

"Nice to see you too, Brie," Sarcasm spiked each of his words.

"Ugh, where's Payton?" I asked, standing on my tippy toes to try to peer over his large frame blocking the whole doorway and then some.

He looked over his shoulder and pointed towards Connor's Land Rover before glancing back at me. "She's in the car. We decided it was best that I tell you."

"Tell me what exactly?" Pushing forward, I tried to shove past Chase.

He grabbed me by the shoulder to stop me, turning me towards him “Please, Aubrey. Just follow me inside.” The sadness in his voice made me listen, and I let him lead me inside. He nudged his head at the couch, indicating for me to sit.

“I’d rather not,” I told him, crossing my arms over my chest in rebellion.

He huffed, but ultimately sad eyes peered into my own as he angled his head at me. "Please."

After a nod, I sat, but I made sure he noticed my scowl. His games were the last thing I needed after the events of today.

Stepping to the fridge, he grabbed a couple beers, then came back to the room and held one out for me to take. I shook my head, so he dropped it on a coaster resting on the coffee table.

I crossed my legs, planting my palms against the cus
hions on the couch and leaning a bit to the side. "Look, Chase, can you get to the point already?"

He sat on the couch next to me and dropped his head. With no clue what he had to tell me, it left me anxious and nervous, so I tried to calm myself by taking a few deep breaths. Silence stretched between us, and it seemed to go on forever. As soon as I cleared my throat to get ready to say something, Chase burst into tears. My eyes widened. I had no idea what to do or how to fix him because I had no idea what was going on in the first place. It was true the guy pissed me off, and sure, I didn’t trust him as far as I could throw him. But the last thing I ever expected was for him to break down.

It must be something serious, I thought, climbing to my feet and walking to him so I could place a comforting hand on his shoulder.

Turning to me, he wrapped his arms around me, pulling me into an embrace. I stiffened, feeling awkward. I opened my mouth to speak, but I didn’t get the chance.

  "He's gone Aubrey!"

"Who's gone?" I asked, my words mixing with confusion.

"Jesse," That one word, that one name…it had so much emotion in it that it made every feeling inside me try to burst out.

"I know he's gone. The jerk left me here alone remember. When I get my hands on him, I'm gonna kill him," I replied through gritted teeth.

He pulled away from me, his emerald green eyes sparkling from freshly shed tears. His bottom lip trembled as he shook his head. Biting the inside of my cheek, I wondered what he wanted to tell me but couldn’t get out. My brain hadn’t been too great at reading between the lines lately at all.

Searching my face, he sucked in a deep, shaky breath. "No, Brie, he's gone. As in, he is never coming back. He died.” His eyes never left mine as he spoke the words.
