"What took you so long?" she asked, taking a sip of her smoothie through her straw.

I sat up and poked my straw in and out of my drink. "I'm always slower on a Friday. You know this."

"Oh crap! Is it Friday already?"

"Um-hmm," I replied, slurping my drink.

"Damn, I swear all my days are molding into one. I was supposed to ask you yesterday if you wanna go to a party at the Frat house tonight?" she asked hopefully.

  "I think I'll pass."

"What? Please, Aubrey. You haven't been out in ages, and besides, it’s not just a regular party. Bear said it’s a celebration or something. He wouldn't tell me the deets, but he said there will be a surprise I won't want to miss. Please come with me," she begged, even going as far to steeple her hands as if she was praying.

I shook my head and replied, "Sorry, Bell, I can't. I don't feel up to it. The sisters will be there, so don’t worry, you'll be fine."

I'd started calling her Bell a while ago because it was just weird sounding out Arabella all the time.

"No, please, Brie. I don't want to sit there watching Connor and Payton eat each other’s faces all night, at least not without my drinking partner. You know the Sorority sisters can’t keep up with me. Please!" She stuck out her bottom lip and gave me the sad, puppy dog eyes.

"Ugh, fine, I'll go. But be prepared to carry me home tonight because I plan on getting wasted!" I said while poking at my smoothie.

She squealed into the air, making diners turn and stare at her. One old lady even tutted. We sat there giggling for a bit, and then decided to leave because the people were not happy with us being so loud and energetic that early in the morning.

Arabella took it easy on me on the jog back, going a lot slower. Probably since I’d agreed to be her date and all that night. When we arrived at the house, I showered, got dressed, had a little breakfast, and headed to school. Since Chase had broken up with me, his dad made sure I no longer had protection, but Bear and Dawson still met me every morning to take me to class.

It made sense since they were in the same classes, and we were all really good friends by this point. I left the house and walked over to the black Land Rover waiting for me, then jumped into the back seat. After we said our good mornings, Dawson drove off.

I tapped Bear on the shoulder. "So, what's so special about this party? Bell said something about a surprise. It isn't you guys dressed up as the spice girls again, is it? Because I had enough of an eye full that night to last me a lifetime."

They both looked at each other with embarrassment and, after several silent minutes, laughter exploded out of them.

"No, nothing like that. But it’s nothing special. Plus, I didn't think parties were your thing anymore. It's just gonna be boring Frat stuff. I wouldn't even bother going if I were you," Bear replied casually.

My eyebrows almost touched my hairline. He was lying. Their parties were always fun. In fact, I’d never been to one that was boring…so why was he trying to stop me from attending?

"I haven't got much choice. Arabella begged me to go, so no getting out of it now." I shrugged one shoulder.

"If you don't want to go, I'm sure she will understand. You can stay home, you won't be missing much," Dawson replied, and now I definitely knew that something was up because he hardly ever spoke, and when he did, it was only for the important stuff.

I watched with curiosity as the guys exchanged worried looks. I was going to ask them about it, but we pulled into a parking space and they pretty much threw themselves out of the vehicle and sprinted up the path towards the school. I got out of the car and watched in confusion.

"We will pick you up after class. We have something to sort out," Bear shouted while hurtling towards the school.

Strolling towards the building, I made it to class still wondering what had gotten into the guys and where they’d been headed in such a hurry. After class, I headed to the parking lot, but there was no sign of the black Land Rover. Very strange.

The beep of a car horn drew my attention, and I found Arabella waving at me from her Porsche. Grinning, I stepped to her car, chucked my bag in the back, and hopped in.

"Hey, where's Bear and Dawson?" I asked her while putting on my seatbelt.

"I dunno. They just rang me and asked me to pick you up, something about doing stuff for the party tonight. Which, now that I think about it, is weird because those two are lazy. They never do stuff for the parties themselves, not when they can torture the lower-ranked pack members and make them do everything.”

  "Weird," I agreed.

She put her arm around my seat and reversed her car, then drove off. The campus wasn't far from the Sorority house really. I could easily walk, but the pack still liked looking after me, even though I wasn't with their future Alpha. I guessed it was because of my Scion scent, but I hoped it was because we were friends. I spent a lot of time with Bell these days because Payton was always busy with Connor, and to be honest, she hadn't been the same with me since Chase left. It was like she was on his side or something. It didn't really matter since Arabella surprisingly stepped up to the plate, and now we did everything together.

We arrived back at the house, had dinner, and went to get ready for the party. I wore a thin, pink silk strappy top that hung off my boobs and finished just above my belly button. The back was lower and sat just above my ass. I paired it with a high-waisted set of black skinny jeans and a pair of pink pumps. I couldn't wear heels tonight, not after a week of hard training. My feet were killing me. I put my hair up in a high wavy ponytail and pulled some hair down my temples to frame my face. Straightening my side bangs that were completely grown out, I applied foundation, black eyeliner, clear lip-gloss, mascara, and soft pink eyeshadow. When I’d finished, I sprayed a few squirts of perfume, threw my phone and keys into my pink purse, and then headed downstairs.

  "Aww, Brie. You look gorgeous."

"Thanks, Bell, so do you. We ready?" I asked while heading to the door.

  "Yeah, let's party!"

I giggled as we left the house and headed to the party. As soon as we arrived, we started drinking. After an hour of taking shots and chugging beer, it was time to dance. On the dance floor, a set of strong hands glided around my waist, and I stiffened. When he pressed his junk against my ass, though, that’s when I freaked. Spinning around, I slapped him right across the face. I had no idea who the guy was, and sure, he was attractive, but not now. A year ago, I would have been all for something like that, but not after Jesse. And not after Chase.

He held his face with his hand and went to say something, but Arabella must have seen what happened because she was by my side in a flash, pulling me away by my arm while growling at the guy. He lowered his head and skulked away in an instant.

When we were a safe distance away, Arabella stopped and came around me to examine me. "Are you okay? Did he hurt you?"

"Yeah, I'm fine, he just got a little too handsy, but it's fine honestly."

  "You sure?"

I smiled sweetly and nodded my head. As I was about to say something else, Connor’s voice over the mic cut me off.

Moving to my side, Arabella watched to see what was going on. Payton walked over to Connor and handed him a drink, and when she kissed him, a low, rumbling growl built in Arabella. For a while, she’d been okay with Payton and Connor, but now that Payton had pretty much abandoned me, she no longer had the time of day for her. abandoned me, she didn't have the time of day for her.

"One, two. Testing. One, two.” Connor cleared his throat. “So, most of you don't know why we are here tonight. But we have a very special occasion to celebrate. Let’s welcome back our future Alpha..." Connor shouted into the mic.

My head spun as I met Arabella’s wide eyes, her confused expression genuine.

She gave me a shrug. "I didn't know, I swear!"

Everyone in the room cheered and hollered so loud I couldn’t hear what Connor had said after that.

  Leaning closer to A
rabella, I shouted, "What did he say?"

"Brie, we need to leave!" She grabbed my arm and dragged me out of the excited and bouncing crowd.

I tried to look back towards the glass sliding doors where Connor and Payton were standing in hopes of seeing Chase. My heart was pounding, and I couldn't believe he was back. I yanked my arm out of Arabella's grip.

"Aubrey, no, please, we need to leave!" she screamed.

I ignored her and pushed a few people out of my way. Squeezing in between two large men, I finally got to see a bit of Chase. My heart leaped, and all I wanted to do was run right into his arms, but as the guy in front of me moved, I saw that Chase wasn't alone. My eyes filled with tears the instant I saw him bend down and kiss a short blond woman, who was draped all over him. The crowd went wild, and my heart broke watching the man I loved kissing someone else.

"Let's welcome back our future Alpha and his new fiancé," Connor boomed through the mic.

“Fiancé? What the hell is he talking about, Bell?" I screamed over the crowd of cheering people. And when I looked back at Chase, his eyes were searing into me. It didn’t deter me. My gaze burned right into his, confusion warring with sadness contorting the features on my face. His shoulders fell and his head dropped as he stepped forward, moving toward me.

The crowd was too thick, though, and besides that, Arabella had already started dragging me away, weaving through the mass of people and moving into the kitchen. She took me out the back door and pushed me towards her car. When we were close, I yanked my arm from her grip while she struggled to find her keys in her purse.

"You can't drive, Bell! You've been drinking!"

"No, no, it's fine. I haven't had that many," she replied with her head still in her purse. A huge smile spread across her face when she pulled her keys out, dangling them in the air in triumph.

I shook my head at her. "I'm not getting in the car with you."

"I am not! See!" she replied, standing on one foot at touching her nose with her finger.

I rolled my eyes at her and sat on the steps, folding my arms across my chest. "Get an Uber."

"Ugh, fine!" Pulling out her phone, she dialed the number, then sat next to me as we waited for our ride. "I'm so sorry, Aubrey. I didn't know. No one in this family tells me anything."

I placed my arm around her shoulder. "It's okay, and it's not your fault. It's mine. I should never have let him go."

We sat there a little longer, and I kept my arm around Arabella while she rested her drunken head on my chest. I was just thankful she wasn't a chucker. When the Uber arrived, we got up and walked over to it. Arabella got in, and I opened the door to my side. Just as I went to get it, a hand grabbed my arm and gently pulled me back. Chase popped his head into the vehicle and whispered something, then closed the door. I watched as the Uber and Arabella disappeared into the distance. Closing my eyes so I didn’t have to see him only made tears fell down my cheeks again.

"I'll drive you home," he said in a soft voice, and then led me towards his green Lotus.

I didn't argue with him, mainly because I didn't have the strength, and when he held the door open, I got into the car, put my seatbelt on, and pressed my lips together, staying as quiet as a mouse. He got in and started up the car, then pulled away in silence, which was a blessing. If I had to talk right then, I’d burst into wracking sobs, and I didn’t need that. I was sure Chase didn’t either. So instead, I watched the world pass us by, letting tears roll down my cheeks one by one.

Eventually, we arrived, and he switched off the engine. But when I acknowledged our surroundings, I saw that we weren't at the Sorority house. We were at his house, where he told me all those months ago about werewolves.

I wiped away my tears, and in a crackly voice I asked, "What are we doing here?"

He didn't reply, just got out of the car and came around my side to open my door. I undid my seatbelt and took the hand that he offered me. He held mine all the way to the house even when he led me inside. As soon as the door shut, he slammed me against it and kissed me. I wasn't prepared for it, and I sucked in a deep breath through my nose as his tongue entered my mouth. Our hands were all over each other, and damn I'd missed the taste of his lips. When we were dating, I hadn't slept with him. I told him that I wanted to wait until we were married, but in all honesty, I just didn't think it was right while I was still in love with Jesse. Now, I had accepted that Jesse was gone and that he wasn't coming back. On top of that, with Chase being gone so long, it made me realize how much I really did love him.

After several more minutes of blissful kissing that made me want to jump on him and wrap my legs around his waist, Chase jerked away, half-turning away from me with his fingers touching his bottom lip. "I'm sorry, Aubrey, I shouldn't have done that, but I can't resist you," He was still facing away from me, but in one quick motion, he turned, slamming both his hands against the door beside my head. His black, lust-filled eyes met mine right before he lowered his forehead to mine, and his labored breathing matched my own. "What is it about you that makes me so damn crazy?"

Without giving him a chance to speak again, I grabbed his face and smashed my lips against his. A moan reverberated from his throat, vibrating my mouth, need fill every part of my body.

Pulling away, I took his hand and led him across the room. He followed, and when I put my free hand on the bannister, I glanced back at him, my own eyes darkened with desire. Nervous energy rolled off him in waves, but the instant I bit my bottom lip, he rushed forward and lifted me in the air. My legs wrapped around his waist in a frenzy, and his hands grabbed my ass, sending heat pooling in my belly. His lips found mine once more, and he carried me to the bedroom while we devoured each other.

Anxious about what was about to happen, I took control of the situation to distract me from my nerves. If I was in charge, I’d have something to focus on and keep any doubts from entering my mind. I loved this man in front of me, and I wanted him more than ever. It was time for me to show him that.

Chase dropped me on the bed, and quicker than I thought possible, I tore all my clothing off, leaving me bare. He giggled, and my cheeks heated as I thought about how mental I must have looked to him.

Or maybe not, since he stripped his own clothes off just as fast I me.

I crawled up the bed, kissing Chase’s stomach and eliciting the most delicious moans from him as my lips grazed his skin. Working my way up his body, taking my time, I circled his nipple, and he pushed his chest against my mouth. I knew what he wanted, and I took great pleasure teasing him several more seconds before I sucked his nipple into my mouth, causing him to hiss. When I ran my tongue in a circle around it, he twitched, so I latched on again, sucking his pert nipple harder than before and making him groan.

I smiled into his chest and let the nipple go with a pop, and he bent forward, placing his hands on either side of my face as he pulled me up and smashed his lips onto mine. Pushing me down on the bed, he trailed kisses over my neck, then down my body, but I was beyond ready to fuck him and I knew I wouldn’t last through any foreplay.

Lifting his head up with both my hands on his cheeks, his eyes shone with disappointment, but I offered him a sexy smirk. "I want you inside me now, okay?"

A smile grew across his face, making my bud pulse as those dimples of his deepened. Without saying a word, he kissed me and laid me back down on the bed as he came down over me, one of his hands playing with my breast while the other swept down my stomach. It was taking too long for my liking, and I was way too impatient when it came to this man, so I reached down and fisted his cock in my hand. He flinched, making me think maybe I gripped it a bit too hard, but I giggled into his mouth as I found his lips again, kissed him, and pushed him inside me. Moans fell from both of us as he took over, shoving into the hilt. I hissed, and he froze.

"Did I hurt you? Should I stop?"

"No! I need you to fuck me right now. I want it hard and deep. Can you do that?" I asked him in a breathless voice.

&
nbsp; Tipping his head at me once, he leaned back and pulled my legs forward. I raised an eyebrow at him, unsure what he was doing, and a sly grin spread across his face. He positioned my legs against his chest, my feet tucked behind his head, and when he thrust, the moan that exploded out of me I didn’t even recognize as a sound I could make. Then, he pounded into me, his cock hitting places inside me I didn’t even know I had.

"Oh God, Chase!" I cried out, and my screams only made him go harder.

I was coming undone, and all I could do was focus on the pressure building deep inside of me. Chase’s moans were sexy as hell and only added to the pleasure raking through me. His thrusts grew faster, deeper, every stroke aimed at just the right place. Slipping my hands between my legs, I found my clit and rubbed, and the groan that fell from my lips made Chase growl, the sound vibrating through my body and shoving me right over the edge.

"Chase!" I screamed, and after a few more pumps of hips, we both found our orgasms.

He lowered my legs and pulled out, then collapsed on my stomach while we both tried to catch our breath. After a few minutes, he crawled up the bed, flopped down, and pulled me into his arms.

My first time with Chase was unbelievable and I couldn't believe that I'd put it off for so long. Too long, I thought as I stared at the ceiling wrapped in his loving arms. Gently, he ran his fingers up and down the top of my arm, his own eyes on the ceiling, too. Letting out a heavy sigh, Chase turned his head on the pillow, gazing at me.

  "What's wrong?"

I shook my head in response.

  "Aubrey, talk to me."

I sighed again, rolled over, and then laid my head on his chest. His hand moved up and began stroking my hair instead.

"What happens now?" I asked nervously. "I don't know, Liv is sweet, but she's not you. She'll never be you," he told me.

I pulled away from him and got off the bed, picked up my clothes up from the floor, and began to get dressed.

He shot out of the bed. "What are you doing?"
