After he got identified, the fat bandit could only deceive people who were patronizing the black market for the first time by themselves. Hence, how would anyone believe him when he said that the eaglets were out of stock in just a few days?

That fella must have hidden them…

Yet, Lin Li did not take his words to heart, since all he wanted was to use the Thunder Eaglets to test the credibility of a taming trick he learned in the Endless World. Even if Shaun was unwilling to sell it to him, his abilities as an archmage would allow him to capture any offspring of magical beasts.

What he was more concerned with was another thing.

Lin Li pointed to the Tricolored Flower, and asked, "Fatty, how much stock do you have with you?"

"I think there's still a few hundreds…" Shaun was uncertain. After getting the invitation card to the Pharmacists Guild, he immediately went to the Nightmare Mountains for the herbs. Even he could not remember how much he had picked.

"Very good, give me a price. I'm buying everything from you."

  "What?"

His words not only caused Shaun to be flabbergasted, but also shocked the peanut gallery of pharmacists.

What did that young man say just now? Why was he so willing to buy a few hundred Tricolored Flowers? Even if he was a tycoon, those flowers were definitely not what anyone would splurge on.

Those flowers only cost a few million gold coins. It was nothing to him.

However, all medicine that contained Tricolored Flowers was regarded as wasted product. Although the flower could minimize und.e.s.i.r.ed effects, it weakened the medicinal effects at the same time by a large extent.

For example, usually one bottle of Awakening Potion would suffice to replenish the mana of one Archmage. Yet, after the weakening effect by Tricolored Flowers, it could barely replenish the mana of one level-10 Magic Shooter.

One was level-10, while another level-15. How could the gap between the levels be explainable by words…?

A few hundred flowers would render a few hundred bottles of potion useless.

To everyone, Lin Li's family had to own gold mines. How could he dare to waste those hundred bottles of potion otherwise?

Of course, what truly caused these pharmacists to be stupefied was the young mage's lack of knowledge.

There were even a few older pharmacists who started to shake their heads quietly…

They felt disappointed that Lin Li's good looks were just a facade of his foolishness.

The function of a Tricolored Flower was no doubt to reduce some of the errors. However, when the skills of their students got better gradually, they would not need it anymore.

When a person needed a hundred bottles of potion to practice and master the most fundamental skill, he should just kill himself by crashing against a piece of tofu. It was pointless to keep him alive anymore…

Even for a pig, it would have gained some knowledge from creating those few hundred bottles of potion.

Although Amman was sitting there quietly, he could not help but feel a little proud of his student. Although they were both mages learning pharmaceutics, his student, Milo, was much better than that fella.

Milo was indeed talented to become a low-level pharmacist even before he hit 25 years old. When he was at his age, he had not even figured out much about pharmacy himself. Now, Amman was convinced that it would not take Milo many years to attain the middle-level proficiency.

By then, it would be time for him to pass the Thunder City Guild of Magic to Milo…

While Amman was immersed in his imagination, Milo beside him was filled with disdain.

He even advised, "If you don't want to regret it, don't buy this trash."

  Chapter 218 - Con Man

Actually, Milo did not think much when he'd said those words. He plainly felt that Shaun was too irritating, and did not want to see him promote his business.

However, to Lin Li, those words were rather unsettling. He felt that Milo was too overbearing…

Who are you to prevent me from buying those things?

If it were another occasion, Lin Li's expression would have changed long ago. Yet, thanks to Andoine's nagging, even if he was in disapproval of Milo's attitude, he was more restrained. Lin Li only frowned a little, but did not erase the smile on his face.

  "Thanks for the advice, but…"

Although Lin Li did not continue his speech, his intention was clear enough.

Milo's lungs nearly burst in rage due to Lin Li's indifference. To him, that young mage was too c.o.c.ky. How could Lin Li respond to his kind advice with such an unconcerned tone? That reply from Lin Li, "Thanks for the advice", made him feel as though he was treated as a con man like the fat bandit trying to delude Lin Li.

Now that Milo had no support, he felt so embarrassed that his expression turned unsightly.

"Are you in cahoots with this con man?"

"Huh?" Lin Li was shocked at what he heard. He did not know what Milo meant.

"Stop acting," Milo said as he looked at Lin Li in disdain. "Do you think anyone would fall into your trap? If you are not his accomplice, why would you try to cover up for him so desperately? Unfortunately, both of you are too foolish by forgetting that this is the Pharmacists Guild of Magic. Who here is not a learned pharmacist? How could you even use a few hundred Tricolored Flowers by yourself?"

"…" Lin Li was beyond speechless. He did not know if he should cry or laugh in amus.e.m.e.nt. Lin Li felt that there had to be something wrong inside Milo's brain to think him to be in cahoots with a con man just because he wanted to buy some flowers.

If he knew that I want to buy other things from Shaun, am I going to be treated as a con man myself then?

Anyway, what does this have to do with you?

Do I need to explain my reasons of buying the Tricolored Flowers to you? Apart from reducing the effects of potions, these flowers could also be used to solve something even the old Gerian himself could not solve…

"Aha, you can't fake it anymore…" At first, Milo did not know how to save himself from the situation. Therefore, he'd accused Lin Li of being the accomplice of the con man. Now, he started to feel that it did not seem like an accusation anymore. If Lin Li was innocent, he would not have decide to purchase the Tricolored Flowers at such a bad timing.

"I…" Lin Li opened his mouth, but realized that he could not communicate with him at all. To him, Milo did not have the normal reasoning skills other humans had. His tone was like a great prophecy—the stronger Lin Li tried to deny that he was not a liar, the higher the chance that Lin Li had ulterior motives. It resembled the mindset of a delusional man….

Having no interest to communicate with a deluded man, Lin Li shook his head, and said, "Forget it…"

Unfortunately, Milo did not want to let the matter pass.

Since Milo was Amman's only student, even the castellan of Thunder City had to show him ample respect. Hence, how could he not feel mad when the two liars, whom no one knew where they came from, attempted to treat him like a fool?

"Forget it? You must be guilty…" Milo's face ashened, and he fixed a deadly glare on Lin Li. "Don't think that I'm not aware of what you are thinking. I must advise you that you'd better stop hoping that anyone here would believe in your lies. Everyone here in the Pharmacists Guild is as learned as my mentor. Stop wasting energy."

"…" Lin Li rolled his eyes. He realized that it was useless to say anything now. No matter what he were to say, it'd be turned into evidence against himself.

Lin Li, however, did not mind at all. Since the exchange had not started, and the people from the guild had not shown up yet, it was too boring to tag along with Andoine everywhere to meet people. If he were to stay there to listen to those heartfelt words of a deluded man, he should be able to acc.u.mulate some positive karma for his kindness…

Yet, the fatso beside him was completely frightened. Being a con man in the black market was nothing since there would be a huge chance that he and the victim
were not going to meet each other anymore in the future. Even if they met again, it would just be another round of beating. To Shaun, with the protection from his rough skin and thick flesh, it was no big deal.

However, they were at the Pharmacists Guild now…

Being treated as a con man here would not be as easy as in the black market. Who was not well known here? No matter how little capable someone were to be, they would at least have some background like Milo. Even with a hundred guts, Shaun would not dare to deceive these influential people. If he were to agitate them, it might cost him his life…

"Mr. Mage, I-I think"—Shaun paused as he hesitated—"I think, let's call off this deal…"

"Call off?" Lin Li nearly jumped. The problem with the Sobriety Potion had already troubled him for a few months. Now that he had thought of the good way to solve it using the Tricolored Flower, how could he allow such a big batch of it escape before his eyes?

Lin Li held onto Shaun's collar with a menacing expression on his face. "If you dare, I'm going to have Elijah find you every single day!"

"…" Shaun nearly teared up. He knew how hard it was to earn a living in Alanna. Now that he was really depending on the sales of the offspring of magical beasts to sustain himself, if Elijah were to find him every day, how was he going to continue that business?

"You'd better stay here and wait for me honestly, and bring me to those flowers. You can rest assured—the payment wouldn't be short of a single copper coin. But, if you were to play tricks with me, don't blame Elijah for being rude to you…"

After Lin Li finished threatening Shaun, he turned back and looked at Milo smilingly.

"Listen to my advice and take you medication early. Your illness can't wait…"

  "…"

After saying that, a few onlooking pharmacists nearly laughed. That young mage was too evil…

"What did you say?" Milo's face flushed immediately. He had never been insulted in his life, and even the castellan of the Thunder City had to shower him with respect.

Now that a liar he had never met before suddenly came out of nowhere, pointing at his nose and telling him to take his medication, how could he tolerate it with his personality?

  Milo stood up immediately.

"Do you dare to repeat what you said?"

"What is there to fear…" Lin Li pursed his lips. His gaze towards Milo was just like how he would look at a patient.

"You…" Milo's lungs nearly burst in rage. He could not believe that lack of respect from that fella. He drew deep breaths while pointing to Lin Li with a trembling finger, and his eyes seemed as if they were going to shoot out some flames.

"Really, Mage Milo. Listen to my advice and have some medicine…"

  "Hahaha…"

Lin Li's expression was beyond sincere, while the peanut gallery of pharmacists roared with laughter.

"Alright, alright, alright…" Milo repeated the word 'alright' a couple of times. His face turned green instantaneously, and a strong wave of mana was generated in his palms.

"Milo, stop!" Amman could not sit still any longer. They were not at Thunder City, where Milo could do whatever he wanted. To be really frank, apart from the fat bandit, it would be difficult to find anyone of a lower status than Milo and himself present in this gathering.

Since Amman was older than Milo for a few decades, his sense of judgment was not something Milo's could match.

Indeed, this young mage seemed ordinary at the first glance.

Yet, who could be certain that he had no background?

How would anyone dare to buy a few hundred Tricolored Flowers to ruin a few hundred bottles of potions if he had no wealth?

He would be better off being low-key in such a place where there were so many powerful influences…

"Yes, mentor." Since it was an instruction from Amman, Milo did not dare to defy it. He gave Lin Li a deadly glare before dissipating his mana gradually. The violent magical waves around them also became calmer now.

The onlookers sighed in relief too.

It was the Pharmacists Guild, after all. It was alright to be the onlookers, but there would be big trouble if the conflict were to cost lives. If it were to anger Balbo, what should they do if the gathering got cancelled? They were still hoping to learn a long lost medical formula from the meeting…

Shaun was another person that felt relief.

The way he got the invitation card was not a honest one to begin with. It'd already cost him a struggle with great fear to attend the gathering. If something were to happen because of him, how could he escape from the Pharmacists Guild?

Luckily, it was not a big matter…

"Why is it so lively here?" Just when everybody relaxed, the voice of an old man came from the crowd.

"Master Andoine." Amman shot up from his seat to greet Andoine respectfully.

It was not just Amman. Even the other pharmacists turned their heads towards the old man to greet him. Andoine was a man who had surpassed the Legendary Realm a few decades ago. His influence had long gone beyond the boundaries of the occupation. Whether they were mages or not, the people who were here would have heard of the story of that Legendary-mage.

The influence of anyone who had reached the Legendary Realm was just that terrifying. No one would dare to disrespect him or neglect his presence.

Chapter 219 - Mentor and Student

Since even the most ignorant man would have known about Felan Kingdom's Legendary-mage—Andoine—nothing was needed to be explained about him. The elite like the Pharmacists Guild would also not dare to neglect his presence despite his lack of proficiency in pharmacy.

As for Amman's abilities, it was too meaningless to talk about them…

To Amman, Andoine's ability to reach the Legendary Realm a few decades ago was like a miracle. Being one of the important members in the Supreme Council, this slovenly old man had the future of all the mages of Anril in his hands.

When Andoine stood there, Amman dared not to breathe…

Andoine was in good mood. As he walked towards them, he did not fail to greet some familiar pharmacists cheerfully.

When he saw Amman, his expression became a little doubtful. "You are…?"

"Master Andoine, I'm Amman from Thunder City. You gave me some advice when you came to Thunder City 30 years ago."

"Oh… I remember it now!" Andoine vaguely remembered that when he'd just reached the Legendary Realm 30 years ago, he visited Thunder City once. As for whether he did give any advice to Amman, he could not remember anymore. It was no big deal to him.

  Of course…

He had some impression of Amman since he was the president of Thunder City Guild of Magic.

"Oh, yes. Amman, is the young man beside you your student?" After asking, Andoine looked at Milo again.

"Yes, yes. His name is Milo. Quick, Milo. Greet Master Andoine."

"Nice to meet you, Master Andoine."

"Hehe, your student is quite talented, Amman. I suppose he had reached the Magic Shooter Realm already?"

"Yes, Master Andoine. Milo had reached Level-12 three months ago." Although Amman was very polite, he could not help but feel proud of his talented student. He never had to worry for him at all. After the trainee stage, Milo always improved exponentially. It was rare to have any students who had become a Level-12 Magic Shooter at the age of 25 and had good attainments in pharmaceutics.

"Not bad, not bad." Andoine nodded his head. Then, he asked curiously, "Oh, yes. What happened just now? Why was it so noisy just now?"

"Hehe, nothing much. It's just a small argument between immature youngsters." Amman was trembling in excitement due to being able to meet the legendary figure. How would he care about the conflict between two youngsters? To be honest, he only felt that the younger mage was a little rude. Since the young mage did not offend him, he would just let him purchase those flowers. In his opinion, the young mage should be able to realize the uselessness of those flowers afterwards.

  "Hehe, yo
ungsters are indeed more hot-tempered…" Andoine laughed. However, his face ashened after he saw Lin Li trying to hide amidst the crowd.

Since Milo was the nearest to Andoine, he could observe the changes in his facial expression the clearest. When he saw Andoine's expression change, he was so elated.

That unlucky fella is going to get it!

That was a valid prediction. Andoine had still been in good spirits when he walked over, and still full of cordiality when he talked to himself. Would there be a need to explain the reason behind the change in his expression after seeing that young mage? The young mage must have had offended him before. Now that they met again so coincidentally, anyone would know the consequences just by thinking with their knees.

  Milo was definitely elated.

He had wanted to teach that fella a lesson himself. Now, Master Andoine could help him do it.

  This fella is doomed!

His mentor would stop him if he were to beat the fella up. Who would dare to stop Master Andoine?

"Felic." Andoine stood there with a terrifying expression.

Lin Li's heart skipped a beat. He turned back to see Andoine glaring at himself mercilessly. "What's the matter…" Lin Li asked as he smiled awkwardly, knowing he could not escape from him.

"What's the matter?" Andoine's nose nearly distorted out of anger. "You still dare to ask me?" The pitch of his hoarse voice rose by a few keys.

  "…"

Milo was beyond elated to know that that fella was in the soup. Even if he was not going to die, he was going to be skinned alive.

"I've told you just now to behave yourself and not cause any trouble. It has only been a while, and you have started a conflict with people. Are you intending to piss me off to death?"

  "I didn't do that on purpose…"

"Not on purpose?" Andoine glared at him while his boney finger nearly poked into his head. "Do you want to tell me that Mage Milo provoked you himself?"

Andoine was still enraged. The people around them, however, started to sense something weird…

W-why… why did that sound so familiar?

A few older ones among then had a sudden realization. Isn't that how I always scold my students?
