Although the reputation of the Poison Fire Bandits had always been notorious, they were, after all, a local force in the Breezy Plains, and ranked at the bottom of the Top 10 Bandit Groups. They were actually rather influential as plenty of forces approached them after hearing their call. They then united and formed a strong force that consisted of more than 2000 people, amongst which were 500-600 elites.

Most people pinned their hopes to stop the tyrannical expansion of the Tower of Dusk on the Poison Fire Bandits. It was undoubtedly ironic. Of course, majority hoped to return everything to the original state after a fight that destroyed both parties.

The den of the Poison Fire Bandits was not very secretive. It was located in an unnamed mountain range that extended from the Dragon Mountains. The reason they managed to survived for so many years was not because of their strength, but because they adhered to the nature of bandits—bullying the weak and fearing the strong. Actually, they wouldn't go against the Tower of Dusk if they didn't have to. However, blinded by the massive benefits, they'd made a wrong decision back then. Not only did they rob the shops in the Tower of Dusk, they even killed a few mages of the Tower of Dusk.

Everyone in the Breezy Plains knew how the Syer Bandits died. It was simply because they killed several ordinary villagers in Black Clouds Town, after which the people from the Tower of Dusk hunted them down and destroyed their den in the Dragon Mountains. Since the Poison Fire Bandits had killed the mages of the Tower of Dusk, they obviously wouldn't be forgiven.

Clifford, the head of the Poison Fire Bandits, stood on the high wall of the cottage and looked ahead. The thick fog in the morning hampered his vision, making him feel extremely uneasy. As soon as he received the warning from the outpost, the mages of the Tower of Dusk had already entered the valley, and were less than 20 minutes away.

The leaders of the other forces stood beside Clifford. Actually, they felt just as anxious and uneasy as Clifford.

"Leader Clifford, that young President of the Tower of Dusk probably isn't as formidable as they make him out to be. Legendary powerhouses may be incredible, but they're not deities, after all. There are so many of us. We must make them retreat," said one of the middle-aged bandits who lost his temper.

  "They're here!" someone shrieked.

Everyone turned to look in the distance, and happened to see a group of mages slowly walking out of the thick mist. The tension in the den began to increase.

"Don't be scared, there are many of us, and we have defensive crossbows and catapults. Even if they are all mages, it would be impossible for them to deal with us without paying a price," said someone who was consoling others, but was apparently trying to give himself some encouragement instead.

"Look at that!" someone yelled as they pointed at the sky.

Everyone looked up in the sky, only to see a black dot approaching them. The sight began to get clearer soon.

"It's a mage. Could it be the President of the Tower of Dusk!?"

Only Legendary-mages could use their flying skills, and Lin Li, the Legendary President of the Tower of Dusk, was the only one who would appear there at this time. Clifford and the rest were not as stupid as to think that the figure was there to help them.

"Hurry, get ready—" Before Clifford could finish giving his orders, everyone realized in shock that everything in their surroundings seemed to have become black and white when they were not looking.

Next, a huge burst of mana exploded out of nowhere, and an unparalleled power overwhelmed everyone instantly. They held their breaths, and it was as if the surrounding air had solidified. Immediately afterwards, they were horrified to see that a black and white giant sword was darting towards them. They wanted to escape, but their bodies seemed to be out of control, for they could not move at all, and had no choice but to watch the sword fall down slowly.

"Boom!" A loud sound filled the air, and the mountains and rocks shattered.

Chapter 699 - Returning to Alanna

Horsin and the other mages stared blankly ahead to see that the fog had dispersed and the fortress-like den of the Poison Fire Bandits vanished without a trace as if it had never existed in this world before. There was no more den and no more people. All that was left was a huge ravine that made the plain valley a little more steep.

"Go back," Lin Li said to Horsin and the other mages as he leaned forward.

Horsin swallowed his saliva forcefully, and exclaimed, "Yes, President!"

Oh God, this must be the power of the Legendary powerhouses! Although Lin Li had defeated Borg and Baldela of the Tower of Dusk in the beginning, and showed incredible power, the scene back then was far less shocking than now. The fortress-like cottage that contained more than 2,000 people disappeared together all at once.

The news of the destruction of the Poisonous Fire Bandits' den caused an uproar in the Breezy Plains again. The forces which were still sitting on the fence and waiting to take sides dared not retaliate at all. Without waiting for the mages of the Tower of Dusk to approach them, they took the initiative to approach the Tower of Dusk one after another to show their intentions to submit.

No one dared to doubt the strength of the Tower of Dusk or the formidable power of Lin Li, the Legendary powerhouse. The 2000-odd people were wiped out all at once! How daunting!

"President, someone from the Alanna Guild of Magic who claims to be your Old Sir Macklin would like to see you," Beckley reported to Lin Li worriedly. Although Lin Li was young, he was already a Legendary-mage, yet that old man dared to claim that he was Lin Li's Old Sir. He really was courting death!

"Oh." Lin Li did not flare up. Instead, his eyes lit up, and he said, "Hurry and take me there."

Although Lin Li was already a level-23 Legendary powerhouse, he was still a young chap in his twenties; hence, he wasn't as fussy as the older men. Indeed, he could treat his enemies as insignificant ants and destroy them. However, he would never put himself on a pedestal and act all haughty around his friends. Otherwise, what was the point of life?

Upon arriving in the guest hall, Lin Li was instantly greeted with the sight of the old fogy Macklin, who still looked as frivolous as before. He no longer bothered about his image, and instead sat with one leg crossed over the other, holding a cup of tea in his hand and sipping on it.

Seeing that Lin Li had entered, Macklin put his teacup down and sprung up before encircling Lin Li twice. He then said, "Not bad, little bastard. You managed to cause such a huge uproar and you even destroyed the two old fogies of the Dark Blade."

Lin Li smiled, and said, "If they had not provoked me, I definitely wouldn't have bothered to do that to them. Surely you're not here to give me a compliment?"

"Give you a compliment?" Macklin humphed and returned to his seat. Placing one leg over the other, he said, "Kid, are you so busy that you've forgotten your promise to create a magical weapon for me back then? It's already been so long. I ended up getting teased and mocked by that old fogy Al'Akir whenever I see him. Aldwin doesn't dare to leave the Guild of Magic at all."

"So you were talking about that. Rest assured, even if you didn't come to me this time, I'd still be visiting Alanna in a few more days to create your magical weapon," Lin Li said as he sat beside Macklin. He was definitely not patronizing him, because he was still coveting Osric's mausoleum. Now that the situation in the Tower of Dusk had become stable, it was actually time for him to head to Alanna.

"Seriously speaking, are you really confident about creating a magical weapon? That bastard Al'Akir has gotten someone to create a high-level mageweath. In order to make him lose and admit defeat, I'm afraid I'd need a Master-level magical weapon. Otherwise, it will be a draw," said Macklin. Although he knew that Lin Li could create a magical weapon, it was not easy to create a Master-level magical weapon even for a true Smithing Master.

"Rest assured, I'm still confident enough in getting that done," Lin Li said confidently. Creating a Guru-level magical weapon would be no issue for Lin Li, let alone a Master-leve
l one.

Recalling the bet between the Alanna Guild of Magic and the Adventurers Guild, Lin Li could not help but feel amused. In order to compete for the key to Osric's mausoleum, Aldwin and Al'Akir got into a fight, which resulted in a draw and the seemingly fair bet afterward. The Adventurers Guild looked for a member who could draw mageweaths, while the Guild of Magic wanted to look for a member who could create magical weapons.

Unfortunately, while mages had always thought they were smart, while everyone saw Warriors as dimwits, Aldwin was stabbed in the back by the Sword Sage of the Storm, Gildor, which was no different from his losing face. The members of the Adventurers Guild were a varied bunch, and they effortlessly managed to find an Archmage who could create high-level mageweaths. However, all of the members of the Guild of Magic were mages, and there was no way blacksmiths would join the Guild of Magic. Finding a mage who could smith would be incredibly difficult.

Seeing that Lin Li was smiling, Macklin felt sullen and upset again. However, no matter what, Lin Li was still an actual mage, and Macklin reckoned that the weapon he created would definitely be impressive and shocking even for Al'Akir. The thought of it made Macklin feel much better. Staring at Lin Li, he curiously asked, "You little bastard, it's getting harder and harder for me to see through you. Your power now is probably more than just Legendary, right?"

Macklin decided to stop dwelling on his personal matters, and shifted his attention to Lin Li. The more he looked, the more shocked he got. He felt that Lin Li was stronger and more powerful than Aldwin.

Upon hearing Macklin's words, Lin Li smiled. Without hiding anything, he said, "I should be at level-23." He was not trying to show off, since he could not hide it from Aldwin, who had become a Legendary-mage a long time ago, once he went to the Alanna Guild of Magic anyway. Besides, by exhibiting his abilities, he would stand a higher chance in joining in the adventure to Osric's mausoleum. Otherwise, creating a magical weapon alone would not be enough for him to seem worthy of joining in.

"What!? Damn it! How does this make sense? I remember you were just an Archmage when you left Alanna back then. Damn it, why am I not as lucky as you are? I painstakingly worked hard for so many years, and yet I'm not even in the Legendary-realm yet!" Macklin exclaimed with agony.

Macklin visited almost two months after Lin Li returned back from the Haiga Mountain Range. Lin Li checked on the mages who were undergoing special training. Although one of the 40 mages entered the Legendary-realm during this period, most people had already reached the peak of level-19. Even Gerian who had plateaued at level-16 had already reached the peak level-19, making him feel extremely thrilled. To Lin Li's joy, more than a dozen mages, including Gavin and Evan who had almost reached the Legendary-realm, began to gain understanding of nomological power, and were just a step away from the Legendary-realm.

Although there was no Legendary powerhouse among them now, Lin Li reckoned that the Tower of Dusk would have a breakthrough soon, and there would be several mages who entered the Legendary-realm. Besides, even if there was no new Legendary powerhouse now, no one dared to underestimate the power of the Tower of Dusk.

For the mages who reached the peak of level-19, the controlling magical crystal was temporarily not of much use to them. Hence, Lin Li announced the end of the special training and put the magical crystal back into his Ring of Endless Storm. However, he left the High Elves' books on magic behind for them to continue learning.

After making all the necessary arrangements for the Tower of Dusk, Lin Li and Macklin set off for Alanna, and were, of course, accompanied by the two faithful Undead servants Ujfalusi and Norfeller. During this period of time, Ujfalusi used the Dragon's soul and Wyrm skeleton that they had obtained in the dragon graveyard to advance to the peak of level-21 with Lin Li's help. Of course, when the two level-21 Undead creatures appeared in front of him, Macklin could not help but curse again.

The Alanna Guild of Magic did not change much, and was still the same as when Lin Li visited for the first time. In the spacious hall, dozens of mages were busy shuttling around. Noticing that Macklin and Lin Li had entered, the mages who passed by greeted Macklin politely. However, they did not have much of an impression of Lin Li, who used to be a small fry. In fact, some of the mages even looked at Lin Li with a look of sympathy. It seemed that everyone knew that it wouldn't be a good thing to land in Macklin's hands.

Under normal circ.u.mstances, Macklin would definitely cuss his heart out when he saw their gazes. However, he did not have the time to do so today, and instead eagerly took Lin Li to Aldwin. The bet with the Adventurers Guild had troubled them for a long time, and Macklin did not want to waste any time at all, because he wanted to see the look of defeat on the Sword Sage of the Storm Al'Akir's face.

The two of them came to Aldwin's office. Macklin dashed in together with Lin Li, without even knocking on the door. The mages who passed by got a great shock, but they quickly shut up after seeing that it was Macklin. They then hung their heads low and scurried away.

Aldwin stared at the doc.u.ments at the table and heard the door being swung open. Without even looking up, he chided, "Macklin, you're already old in your years. Will you behave like an elder?" He then closed his doc.u.ment and glanced at Macklin and Lin Li.

  Chapter 700 - Many Acquaintances

"Master Aldwin, It's been long since we last met. Are you doing well?" Lin Li asked smilingly.

"Well? As soon as you went to the Breezy Plains, there were no news of you. Had I not gotten Macklin to look for you, I'm afraid you would have forgotten our promise!" Aldwin did not have a look of resentment on his face at all. However, after he carefully took a look at Lin Li, a look of astonishment he could not hide formed on his face. "Felic, surely you don't have any precious magical equipment?"

Precious magical equipment? Lin Li had plenty of it in the Ring of Endless Storm, he but also knew the reason behind Aldwin's question. After all, it didn't take long for Lin Li to become a Legendary-mage by advancing from a level-16 or level-17 Archmage after he left the Alanna Guild of Magic.

"What magic equipment? The magical waves from this rascal's body are not from the magic equipment. Those rumors are not only not exaggerated, they're also understatements of this rascal's abilities," Macklin grumbled after finding a chair to sit on.

"Oh, it's indeed unbelievable." Aldwin shook his head slightly, staring at the young mage in front of him with admiration. He said, "Mage Felic is now the President of the Tower of Dusk and he's already entered the Legendary-realm. Seems like we're really old. Hurry and take a seat."

"You don't have to stand on ceremony with me, Master Aldwin. No matter what kind of achievements I have made so far, I owe it all to the help of the elders. I think it's better for you to address me in the same way that you used to," Lin Li said. Although his current status and strength were enough for him to be on an equal standing with Aldwin, he still couldn't get used to an old man being so polite to him. Although he was often joking with Aldwin and would speak to Andoine and Gerian with disrespect at times, he still respected them greatly.

Aldwin nodded, admiring Lin Li for not becoming arrogant and conceited just because he had become stronger and more respectable. Young people like him were rare. As the President of the Guild of Magic, he had seen plenty of so-called talented youths over the years; they were all extremely complacent and lofty as if they were above everyone else. Unlike them, Lin Li was sensible and humble. Although Lin Li had caused plenty of trouble when he was training with them at first, they all knew the reasons for those incidents.

"Yeah, President, don't stand on ceremony with that kid. Quickly arrange for the bet with the old fogy Al'Akir. Let's see how smug he can be," Macklin urged ruthlessly.

Aldwin glared at Macklin and turned to look at Lin Li. "Felic, I'll get someone to arrange a place for you to rest first. If you need to train or practice, feel free to let Macklin know. As for the deal with the Adventurers Guild, we can afford to wait. Well, we've already been
waiting for so long anyway."

Aldwin had already heard about Lin Li's achievements in pharmacy which allowed him to gain the recognition of the President of the Pharmacists' Guild. After all, a person's energy was limited, and it would be hard to master everything. Lin Li was already a Legendary-mage and a Master of pharmaceutics. It would be hard for anyone to think that he was a smithing Master too.

"What are you waiting for? Felic is very confident of his own abilities. Right, Felic?" said Macklin, who was a little dissatisfied with Aldwin's arrangement. During this period of time, the Alanna Guild of Magic was not only teased by the Adventurers Guild, they had also become the laughing stock of the other forces because of the bet.

"Uh…" Aldwin blushed a little. At the end of the day, the matter was a result of his lack of careful consideration at that time. Fortunately, Lin Li appeared, turning the situation around. Otherwise, he would have become the sinner of the Guild of Magic. However, he did not arrange it immediately according to Macklin's request, but instead explained to Lin Li, "Felic, it's not that I don't trust your abilities, but I just think that we should wait for the rest to return. After all, we have already exceeded the deadline of the bet according to the original agreement."

Lin Li touched his nose. The matter really had something to do with him. When he arrived in the Breezy Plains, he had only half a year left to fulfill the bet. In the end, the Tower of Dusk was built, and he proceeded to explore the Scar of Death before getting sent to the Throne of Darkness. He also went to besiege the Syer Bandits in the Dragon Mountains, entered the Haiga Mountain Range, and explored the Sky Castle. He even ended up getting trapped in the chaos of time and space. Almost two years had passed, and they had long exceeded the six-month period agreed in the bet. According to the bet, the Sword Sage of the Storm, Al'Akir, had already won it.
